Hyperemesis Support

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

I used to include extracts from MOH's wonderful website
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
but I think that makes this link less visible so am merely putting the link. The information on this site is invaluable for sufferers, with information about medications, coping strategies, hospital admissions, useful links, advice for family members, and much more.

I would like to thank MOH and Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

No stopped meds at about 22 weeks as they made me groggy/ constipated. I was on ondansetron and cyclizine. Yes I have two DC aged 5 and 3. DC 2 just had the worst runs everywhere. Looks like its a bug then. Not nice clearing up when u feel like I do :(

eggybrokenoff · 15/10/2013 18:47

are you still on meds? maybe they could gibe you something else for last few weeks? do you have other dcs?

Report
Hyperhelpmum · 15/10/2013 18:10

Thanks eggy wondering if I have a bug as feel so sick today. If this baby came early (as long as healthy) I would be more than happy. Can't bear this sickness. Feel like a caged animal, really trapped, can't escape it and no relief :(

Latulose can cause 'looseness' but if its prolonged extreme runs treat it like a bug :( poor you. I feel blinking awful SO sick all day. Is this what I have to look forward to for next 4 weeks? Had heard it gets worse in last month again. Urgh. :(

eggybrokenoff · 15/10/2013 14:41

what fresh hell is this?! tmi alert - can lactulose cause diarroeah (sp?) or have i now got a bug on top of everything else?? oh well. to quote trainspotting 'i am no longer constipated'. grim

Hello all not posted for a while as been flat out with work and kids. First day of mat leave and sat here feeling sick as a dog. I'm 35 weeks now and having a c section at 39 weeks. Dreading the sickness getting worse but glad I can now rest a bit whilst kids at school/ preschool and hoping that will help. Hope everyone else is surviving the horrific early stages. I had an awful time but things not nearly so bad now and I'm on the home run!

Meerka · 15/10/2013 09:41

oh good luck, MoB, will be thinking of you. Do hope you've avoided diabetes, that's the last thing you need

Weird isn't it Meerka? Had a scare the other day, was getting pre-eclampsia symptoms, and while a few weeks I'd have been grateful for the chance it would all end, instead I was panicking about losing the baby.

I'm off for my 16 week check in a minute, should find out if I have diabetes as well. Dreading it. :(

congrats meerka. i get what you mean - i have been seriously considering whether i can continue this but i know if i miscarried i would be devastated. beginning to think that is normal emotion for hg women

Report
Meerka · 15/10/2013 08:49

oh dear, everyone having a tough time :( I do hope it improves.

Have just hit week 12 and am quite happy about it as it means the chance of miscarriage is notably lower now. Slightly ironic - from planning to contact the termination clinic to being glad the little one is hanging in there. The last few days have been a bit better on the sickness front tho

hey how is everyone today?
having a crappy start today. think i overdid things yesterday after feeling ok in morning and ended up sick in the evening. horribly nauseous and retching this morning but ondansetron seems to he stopping me actually vomiting. constipation is awful but so is the lactulose induced sickness. feeling generally glum about the state of the house, not being able to do enough with the kids, not being able to walk the dog etc. generally feel like im letting everyone down at the moment which i know i cant help but still so guilty

ChocChaffinch · 14/10/2013 20:32

are you still lactulosing jenn? it'll be your bowel returning to normal?

have tried to leave doses later but not brave enough, and the times Ive forgotten Ive felt so awful I know I can't lose a dose yet.
Threw up today after lidl shop as was hungry, vommed up some cheap jelly sweets and it was utterly vile bile. Vile tasting. worst ever.

Hey there. I am nearly 24 hours ondansetron free and not overly sick. My appetite has suffered though, I am not hungry at all. I feel really bloated and windy. Weird.

Hi all, I'm home and feeling pretty rubbish. Meds don't seem to be doing anything for me lately.
Find out results of tests Wednesday. Hoping for no more problems!

Meerka · 14/10/2013 16:10

HIya Tally ... I have tried it but sadly my Dutch is poor. But I've been speaking to an english lady from it. She's the one who gave me the info about the meds - the accurate info - and the name of a possibly-better hospital. thanks !

Hope you are feeling a bit better soon ... its a long long haul isnt it :(

Sally hope you're home and the tests went ok.

hi all. sorry I'm pretty absent here. I've been finding it hard getting my head around how long I've been sick and how long it still could go on. I'm 13+4 today and desperately hoping things improve in the next few weeks.

meerka, I've just been reading the spewing mummy blog - have you tried this Netherlands forum that Caitlin links to ? www.steunpunthg.nl/phpBB/
sorry, on phone so can't make it clickable off the top of my head.

Moment Welcome, never feel guilty about moaning, you have every cause, particularly when it's gone on for so long. Omprazole - I hadn't heard of that one? DD will get over it quickerthan you might believe from my experience on these threads.
Sally Poor poor you, gentle pats, how foul, particularly the beef crisps, I don't think people should be allowed to eat outside cafe areas in hospitals. Hope all is well, you have had so many complications, it isn't at all fair.
MoG Have you had your tests yet?
Eggy andTotes I so agree with all comments about baby being the last to suffer from a diet of rubbish- that's one of the reasons you feel so awful - the baby takes all the nourishmnet, and it is dreadful the way it seems to be junk food that stays down.
Sally and Feekerry Congratulations on the carrot and coriander soup. That is unusually healthy for this thread. Feekerrry 'Milk gate'?
I must be being obtuse, not sure what you mean.
Meerka Hugs. That is so maddening, I am outraged that they LIED to y you about what they were allowed to give you. At least you can get some effective meds now. Try not to beat yourself up about your son. I know it's easy for me to say, I didn't go for it twice, but children are very resilient. He will get over this blip - and he'll have a companion, too, in due course.
Jen Sorry about depression, hugs. Hyperemesis is depressing anyway, even when it tails off a lot, exhausting and isolating.
Apologies to anyone rudely ignored.
Lucinda
