Awesome news, kat - and great photo!
Though it's making me think I have not so much a backwards baby as a standing-on-its-head baby Confused

Oh brod and boom - great pharmacy stories. Though poor you! And who hasn't needed to ask for one of those.

Having a not-too-bad day here - though bear in mind that I've also been sobbing in front of Downton repeats this evening Blush

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/09/2013 21:27

kitty yes, because twins are leeches extra greedy for folic acid! Have just bought the normal ones for now as on bogof, but it does mean I need to neck 12 a day Confused I rattle when I walk y'know!

Ah poppy love a good telly sob!

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/09/2013 21:30

12 a day ShockShockConfusedConfused

BlindKitty · 17/09/2013 21:41

Omg boom I thought you meant 500micrograms! Argh!

Boomgoestheweasel · 18/09/2013 05:44

I love tablets, me!

Forgot to sympathise with you over the name-pinching cousin kitty - how do people manage to steal the ONE name you want when there are so many to choose from? Still, she sounds as though she's in a pretty crap place right now so hard to be too Angry I guess x

BlindKitty · 18/09/2013 07:21

I know, sometimes I forget how much I have to be thankful for! I think we'll still use the name if we get the chance as we don't see her much these days anyway

Boomgoestheweasel · 18/09/2013 08:03

Ah bummer, I was going to ask you what the name was but now I guess I'll just have to wait and see!

Mr Boom and I have now agreed on two girl's names and one boy name. I've decided the other boy name but will introduce it slowly to let him think it's his idea Grin. I know he wants to find out what sex they are but I think I'd rather have surprises... He thinks we're having two boys (step 1 in his evil plan to father a rugby team). Oddly, I also think we're having two boys. Although as someone pointed out, we need one boy and one girl to maintain the current male-to-female equilibrium in the house!

Anyone else had a go at guessing (did I hear a mention of nub theory earlier on)? And who's going to find out at the 20wk scan?

CatsCantFlyFast · 18/09/2013 08:26

I reckon ours is a girl. And I will be finding out via harmony test if DH will let me so will be the first to know!

CatsCantFlyFast · 18/09/2013 08:28

It was prob me who mentioned the nub theory but couldn't see our nub on the scan! I like the 'which side is the placenta on' theory which appeared to be quite accurate in non extensive testing and suggested girl for us. However some scan pics are mirror images so even if you can see the yolk sac on a scan you're best checking whether it's left or right before you get guessing!

The nub theory is basically about 'the angle of the dangle'. Between 11 and 14 weeks' gestation both genders have a penis-like protuberance between the legs. They look incredibly similar at this point, except for the angle at which they are pointing. Sometimes there are males and females at this stage which are in the 'grey area', but essentially a boy's 'dangle' is 30 degrees up relative to the backbone and a girl's is below 30 degrees.

Boomgoestheweasel · 18/09/2013 08:52

The placenta theory? That's a new one on me, I've just googled it. So right side = boy, left = girl? (Doesn't work for twins. Nothing works for twins - PAH! Wink) I have no idea which way up my scan is anyway, and I don't think I can see the yolk sacs! Fail....

I love all the guessing games and old wives' tales. My favourite is heart rate above 140 = girl, below = boy. I had a lady tell me once that she was having a boy because the milk in the fridge turned sour after she was the last one to use it! Unfortunately I don't know what she ended up having..

CatsCantFlyFast · 18/09/2013 09:52

Harmony (and another nuchal scan) booked for tomorrow eve. Went with the local place I had my early reassurance scan in the end, as got a bit annoyed with the woman I spoke to at FMC. Anyway am hoping they can have a good guess on gender from the scan alone, as I am SOOO impatient.

Hi Kat, yes the gender is included from the bloods but they can often get a reasonable guess from a scan at this point too Grin
The woman on the phone at FMC just pissed me off, probably just me being unreasonable though! However the fact they couldn't do any appointment after 4.30 also wasn't convenient as it would mean me travelling into London.

Thundercatsarego · 18/09/2013 11:29

Ace news on scan kat

Why am I backwards?!!

merk hope it goes well later. Do they tell you there and then?

Cavort · 18/09/2013 11:33

Merk have you also tried the Skull Theory while you're waiting? Along with nub and placenta, it's another one I obsessed over while impatiently waiting to find out.

Thundercatsarego · 18/09/2013 11:54

What's that then cav?

Thundercatsarego · 18/09/2013 13:55

Ps small celebration here- I am in the second trimester today!

Tallyra · 18/09/2013 14:44

scan yesterday went well. 9w2d, and that's the furthest we've got. I'm still sick as anything and finding it all hard to cope with. grats to everyone having scans.

Cavort · 18/09/2013 14:51

Skull Theory, although using this I was convinced my baby girl was a boy Grin

Congratulation on Second Trimesterdom Thunder Grin

Thundercatsarego · 18/09/2013 15:20

Cav by that description (can't see the pics), my bean will be a girl- yet I'm positive that my bloke only gives out Y chromosomes...

Any predictions based on back-to-front babies?!

Thundercatsarego · 18/09/2013 15:23

tally fantastic news about scan. Keep going girlie, you're doing great x
