Ah I have all this to come! This time last week I was kicking dh out of bed to go and buy a fr and a digi because I didn't believe the other 2 tests I'd done!

Thundercatsarego · 17/09/2013 07:18

Is it only a week kitty?! Feels longer! Time is doing weird things at the moment.

poppy I am with you on the love of mash.

Has merk left the copter now then?

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/09/2013 07:32

Still here. Just plodding my way through days at work, which I am not enjoying at the moment, especially when I am so tired.

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/09/2013 08:01

Ah there you are merk! Thought you were supposed to be blooming by now Hmm aren't you in the fabled 2nd trimester? Sorry you're still feeling tired. Have you got your iron levels back yet?

kitty weirdly, it feels like less than a week ago that you got your bfp to me! Thunder's right, being diffed distorts time..

Right, going out to buy folic acid. Been upped to 5mg and have snaffled all my normal ones in less than a week so off to get some super high powered ones!

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/09/2013 08:58

Blooming my arse!! And I seem to be disappointing most people I meet who expect me to be massive by now and the remaining people find it funny to joke about me being fat. I seem to have lost my sense of humour Hmm

Thundercatsarego · 17/09/2013 09:15

Aw merk is work a bit of a struggle?

I am 13+6 on thurs which I understand of the second trimester. Does this mean that I will suddenly stop feeling like absolute shit death and leap from the ashes waving my shiny bouncy mane and brimming with excited energy?

Cavort · 17/09/2013 09:31

I was 17 weeks before I stopped barfing (tho it did get better and I felt better/less tired from about 13) and I am still waiting for the blooming to start Confused I concluded that the blooming thing is just general public's polite way of describing that you look a bit porkier than before Grin

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/09/2013 14:59

It's less work and more my boss. Although I'm quite disengaged with work too, plus tired, plus unable to remember most words so all in all not a good combination.
I don't want to brag however I haven't been/felt sick for a week and am attributing this to hitting the magic 12 weeks. Praying it stays that way. However my appetite hasn't returned yet Hmm

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/09/2013 15:42

Just got my combined screening results back, 1 in 4700

Sounds a bit crap compared to Thunder!

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/09/2013 15:54

Posted too soon. Seems as though it's my blood results as HcG > 1.0 MoM and PAPP-A < 1.0 MoM would increase risk (and my actuals are 1.27 and 0.67). It seems if my nuchal measurement hadn't been so low (1.1mm) that my risk would have been v v high based on these measurements.

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/09/2013 16:30

4700 is still a really good result merk, it doesn't matter what the component parts were - blood tests alone are far less accurate, hence the combined screening. Hope you're not worrying, anything above 150 is low risk and you've blown that figure out of the water!

Brodicea · 17/09/2013 16:42

Merk I think those results are OK: what boom says!

I've just chucked up for the third time today - I didn't need to re-taste those Frazzles and that Jamaica Ginger Beer (which did NOT help with the nausea obvs) - and feel very tired, headachey and sorry for myself Sad

Such a moaner!

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/09/2013 17:24

Brod i'm afraid if you're anything like me you're right in the middle of the worst bit of morning sickness. But hopefully not long now until it eases up

My concern is that the bloods are more accurate than the nuchal. So if I was to go on bloods alone my risk would be v high. Eg. a 'normal' nuchal range is less than 3.5mm. If i recalculate my risk with 3mm nuchal (still well within normal range) my risk comes back at 1 in 55. The blood results are really quite worrying

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/09/2013 17:30

Ah brod you're allowed a little whinge every so often. I grumbled my way through yesterday because I felt vile, today I seem to be feeling ok and therefore am panicking! Never happy... Although in fairness not surprised you're barfing if you're eating Frazzles not my crisp of choice!

On the bright side, I think I might have picked up both heartbeats today. Can't be sure when they're still so little, but they were at opposite sides so maybe!

Had a rubbish time at the pharmacy, was trying to have a quiet conversation with the pharmacist as wanted some Canesten. Rude man in the queue behind me came right up to the counter, literally shoulder to shoulder with me, so heard every word. Then the pharmacist wasn't sure if I could have Canesten in pg (I knew I could, but hey) and decided to ask head honcho pharmacist, who was stood about three metres away. He shouted back that I could have the cream and the pessary but not the tablet. So everyone in the pharmacy got to hear about my yeast infection! And on top of that they didn't even sell super-strength folic acid over the counter (what am I going to do? Overdose?!) so I'm having to get the doc to write a prescription and go back again.. BAH!

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/09/2013 17:41

Sorry Merk, crossed with you. Was this the NHS test or one of the Harmony ones?

How did you get your results? Were you offered any further consultation to discuss the results? If not, and if you're worried, I'd call the ANC and say you want to talk about the results with a screening specialist. But please do try not to worry, yes the blood test is more accurate than the nuchal alone, but the combined screening is far more accurate than just the blood test, that's why they do it xx

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/09/2013 17:47

This was NHS test, results just came through the post because the combined risk is > 1:150.
Am looking into harmony now as the bloods are concerning me (and i never trusted something that was only 78% accurate anyway!). Not the NHS's fault, just my need for absolute certainty and fact!

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/09/2013 18:16

Don't blame you Merk! To be honest, the nuchal is a load of cobblers anyway, all it really tells you is that you might have a baby with Down syndrome. Even if your risk is 1:100000, no guarantee you won't be that one. So if you need certainty/fact then it won't help! I'd definitely go for the Harmony to put your mind at rest - if I could afford it I'd get it too, especially as our NHS test will only be nuchal scan which is pretty much pointless anyway.

Brodicea · 17/09/2013 18:54

Oh boom sorry to hear about your pharmacy woe.

TMI ALERT I had to buy some Anusol from a local pharmacy a couple of years ago (I get constipation and managed to do some damage with a really big poo) and of course, Curb Your Enthusiasm style, the person on the till had to check the price loudly with her colleague. I think they do these things on purpose.

Brodicea · 17/09/2013 18:55

IE the lurking man was a plant for some kind of covert pharmacy Candid Camera (or Candida Camera!)

Kat I hadn't realised/remembered you had a scan today! Great news. Did they adjust your dates?

Brodicea · 17/09/2013 20:03

Ace news kat!

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/09/2013 20:34

Oh Kat how rude, totally forgot your scan! Fantastic news Grin....photo?

Brod BWAHAHA Candida Camera Grin Grin

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/09/2013 20:35

Ignore me, found the photo. What a lovely little bean! Thunder is still the only one with a backward baby then

BlindKitty · 17/09/2013 20:58

kat well done on your scan! You must be very pleased!

boom do you need more folic acid because you're having twins?

Mum called earlier to say my cousin has had a baby and has called her the name we were going to use!!!! Since my mum was sworn to secrecy about me she couldnt even say anything! How bad would it be just to use it anyway? Any, do feel a bit sorry for her. Her dh is a complete t£&@ and about to leave her (mum reckons). He's left her with a newborn and a toddler to go and stay with his mum! So my aunty has had to move back from Spain temporarily to look after her. What's worse is that she's a recovering anorexic so this could easily tip her over the edge!!!
