Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Gingerandlemon · 05/08/2013 14:30

Hiya, another newbie to this thread here! I'm 37 weeks with my first pregnancy and hopefully this constitutes close to due any day!

I'm experiencing really frequent (feels constant at times) but not always regular BH and cramps in my back plus lots of sharp pains in the bottom of my bump and lady parts (!). I feel like my bump has moved down and the little peanut has been going crazy in there, but in a slightly different place (perhaps because she's moved?). Oh and ive been quite tearful and my stomach has been upset. I am clueless as I have never done this before. Is this just typical last few weeks stuff? I'm toying with the idea of calling the midwife because it's so sore at times but don't know if this is pointless?!

Any advice very gratefully received :)

Airfryer · 05/08/2013 14:52

Congrats beano!!

islingtongirl · 05/08/2013 15:07

Hi Gingerandlemon, I'm 37+2 so same as you and having similar feelings. Had on and off BH for weeks now but they aren't painful, but past few days have found I am getting a few more aches and pains, especially when walking etc. i imagine this may be like this for the next few weeks! This is my first too, so no real idea what to expect....

PurpleDana · 05/08/2013 16:26

Hi ginger & islington, I'm afraid the feelings u described are pretty normal for weeks before baby comes, u will find most of us have been having pains, aches & twinges prob since around week 30-35. I'm 38 +2 & have just resided myself to thinking my pains are not an indication of labour, just normal stretching, lowering & general preparation. (Even tho I don't remember pains anything like this with my first!)

Gingerandlemon · 05/08/2013 17:22

Ah bums! I kind of thought someone might say that! Ah well, raspberry leaf tea it is then :)

islingtongirl · 05/08/2013 17:35

Haha yeah damn! Thought as much Grinfeel absolutely nothing now I am mooching around the house as well, oh well!

BeanoNoir · 05/08/2013 19:19

How's everyone doing tonight?

I had loads of braxton hicks and twinges that make you think 'is this it starting?'. When it actually does though you don't think 'is this it?' There's no question about it!

It's extremely annoying when this is painful though.. I really feel for you all but it will be over soon.

BeanoNoir · 05/08/2013 19:21

But any 'twinges' must also be getting your body closer to labour so they're not totally pointless Smile

MsFiremanSam · 05/08/2013 19:22

Hi all,
Absolutely nothing, nada, zilch!
Mum and friends were all saying 'sure it will be early...' - grrrr. Now constant texts as to whereabouts of baby.
Time goes SO slowly when you're pregnant! Hope everyone else is ok.

Tigglettchic · 05/08/2013 19:39

I have told people that I am due three weeks later than I actually am so that I hopefully avoid the constant probing and questioning!!!!

Good luck everyone, I hope it all goes quickly for you all, you never know, there is a storm brewing here(no, not just my constipation!!TMI) so the pressure may pull them out???

x

PurpleDana · 05/08/2013 22:42

Aww sorry to be the party pooper lol. But if its not happening for me after weeks of twinges & pains then it ain't happening for u either! me first!!! Lol

Gerty1002 · 06/08/2013 07:02

My twinges seem to have subsided for the moment - which is fine as I actually got some sleep last night, marvellous :). Also not quite at the 37 week safe zone yet so trying not to wish on labour just yet.

I behaved like a paranoid pregnant lady last night and rang delivery suite to ask if too much movement could be a sign of distress... I have a very active baby generally but last night was ridiculous, I was crying out in pain from kicks to my cervix and pelvis, and I could see every movement of every limb! I was actually worried my waters might have gone without me realising. Midwife just told me movement is usually good but to keep an eye on it, which I expected. Now this morning I haven't felt much movement at all, though I've only been awake 20 mins or so. Jeez these babies do make us worry especially us anxious first-timers

lola1980 · 06/08/2013 09:29

Well I've been up since 5 with backache and period type pains that were impossible to sleep through... Trying not to get my hopes up but I'm due tomorrow and it'd be good if she came on time! Just getting on with things this morning and trying not to obsess over it Hmm

PurpleDana · 06/08/2013 10:42

I'm sure I had 3 contractions last night - 15mins apart, lasting about 30 secs with build up, peak, tail off, but then they subsided into shorter infrequent cramps & twinges :-( Feeling nothing now. Back to the waiting game!

lola1980 · 06/08/2013 11:04

It's shit all this waiting isn't it?? Although I'd rather have a few false starts than for it all to go too quick - a friend of mine was alone at home and her son just slipped out like a wet fish - she was horrified and frightened! And completely ruined the carpet.

Cass168 · 06/08/2013 11:11

Hello! I am a newbie to this thread and to Mumsnet generally.
I'm 41 weeks today and going for first sweep later. So far just same twinges and random tightenings that Gingerandlemon mentioned but no plug gone or anything. Think baby is quite happy where he is for the moment! (I also have a really long cycle and always had a feeling he'd be late).

LouiseD29 · 06/08/2013 11:43

Hi everyone - have been lurking on this thread for a while. Am 39+3 and the texts and messages asking where the baby is are starting. I'm quite appreciating them at the moment as it's nice to know people are thinking of me but starting to make me feel under pressure! Baby due on Saturday, but I have a hunch she's going to hang on until at least this time next week. Lots of twinges and Braxton Hicks, but I've been getting them for a couple of months, so not taking it as a concrete sign that anything's happening.

Trying to get a few things done about the house, but not quite sure what to do with myself. Not sure if'm nesting or not - am washing everything in sight, but so far no urge to scrub the kitchen floor - ha ha. We'll see!

Cass - good luck with the sweep, and PurpleDana - hope things get moving for you soon.

Cass168 · 06/08/2013 11:57

LouiseD29 Snap! I've done no cleaning but have also washed everything in sight and yesterday attempted to wash the spare double duvet in the bath as it wouldn't fit in the washing machine and I'd decided that it HAD to be cleaned. Top tip: never do this!

LouiseD29 · 06/08/2013 13:20

Cass - good tip! I have been washing all the pillows and blankets and about to start on the sofa covers. I had my eyes on the duvets as well... Might take them to the laundrette for a service wash instead!

PurpleDana · 06/08/2013 13:38

I've washed my bedroom carpet, by hand cos the carpet cleaner decided not to work! And scrubbed the whole shower unit & shower head. Next is the kitchen...

Soontobemama · 06/08/2013 13:48

Hi all! Today is my due date but there's nothing happening.
I've had a demented couple of days washing, cleaning and sorting everything in sight. I've been so restless that I'd hoped it was a sign but it doesn't appear to have been.

Now to keep answering all of the messages and calls asking if there's any sign of baby.... I can see this will get annoying fast.

Cass168 · 06/08/2013 14:05

Soontobemama Oh yes - it will! I know it's only because they care but I'm day on day 7 of daily "any news?" texts. Feel like I'm under so much pressure...

Gingerandlemon · 06/08/2013 19:23

Oooh I hope I get the urge to clean stuff. Our house is a mess. I'm currently mainly getting the urge to lie on the sofa watching nonsense on tv and eating cake. Guess I'm not so close after all!

lola1980 · 06/08/2013 22:09

Ginger - cleaning is not good for you anyway. Yesterday I had to unblock the bath drain and it was one of the worst experiences of my life, I swear I have post traumatic stress because of it. Today I have lain on the settee eating ice cream and it was much more appealing.

Airfryer · 07/08/2013 02:29

41 weeks pregnant.......grrrrrrrr
