Ok folks, I'm sure it's been done before but I'd like to compile a list of all the magic potions, herbal teas, old wives tales and secret places you've used to get pregnant or you've heard of so that my friends and I over on conception can come and join you over here!

No skimping on the details please and thank you in advance! Grin

tribpot · 10/06/2006 09:26

I'm not sure this counts, but the secret of my success is (or was) having crippling ovulation pains every month. Hey presto: you may not want feel like it but at least you know when you are most likely to conceive! They do seem to have settled down a bit since I had ds, so not sure what trick I shall use next time ...

tribpot · 10/06/2006 09:27

Btw, not sure what "want feel like it" is meant to mean, v tired!

Pruni · 10/06/2006 09:30

I have heard:
give up caffeine and alcohol
whey protein
pineapple
75mg aspirin daily
smoothies daily
spirulina

Much of these related to ivf though and getting egg quality and womb lining up.

(* the baby aspirin one is for improving blood flow to the ovaries/uterus and comes with the warning that higher doses of aspirin may cause early miscarriage.

  • one ivf clinic is doing a trial to see if a smoothie a day makes a difference. Unbelievable but true. Don't know if it's a fruit smoothie or yogurt-based one.
  • I checked out spirulina in holland and Barrett and it has absolutely no link with fertility at all, and in fact all its magic properties are anecdotal rather than proven so I wouldn't bother spending £14 on this myself.)

Axolotl · 10/06/2006 10:24

...a friend (who, incidentally, is a doctor!) swears it was the reflexology that finally helped her, after years of infertility. She says that even if was just working on helping her relax, she thinks it was what made the difference.

decafgirl · 10/06/2006 11:44

These are fab - keep them coming!
