Anybody else overdue/due soon?

Hi Everyone

I am 4 days overdue and completely fed up!Can't sleep at night because of painful hips and heartburn from hell, and am just sick of sitting waiting around!Every pain comes with a desperate hope that it will turn into a contraction, even the ear ache I had yesterday was googled to see if this was a sign of labour (desperate times)

Plus on top of that, I can't deal with another message/phone call asking if I have had the baby yet, especially off close family members! What do they expect me to say- 'yes I had him last week, do you not follow me on twitter?'. Do they not think I would of been in contact as soon as I possibly could to tell them the good news!!

Anyway, I am just moaning now!Was just wondering if there are any fellow pregnant ladies due to pop any day now,and fancy a chat to pass time until our little bundles of joy arrive!

Happy to say I have been in labour since approx 4pm Friday. Contractions built up to lasting about 2 minutes and coming every 5 minutes, but after a long soak in the bath has become speradic again and are coming anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes now. At this rate I won't be going up the hospital until tomorrow.

REALLY pleased I have gone into labour by myself and not needed to be induced though.

Ooooh how exciting for you!! Good luck!

Am only 37+4 but already just wanting baby out. Tired of getting no sleep and feeling enormous, and like rest of you am panicking every time baby goes quiet on me... Been addicted to playing on the Wii to try and get something started but no signs yet...

This may sound silly but do you definitely have to have had a show before labour starts??

Report
AmandaCooper · 23/02/2013 13:21

Apparently not phoenix. In fact I don't know anyone in RL who has had a show. A few have had waters break but most have just started having tightenings. Doesn't stop me knicker spotting though!

I might get the Wii out later on as well; some people on here swear by hula hooping on the Wii Fit. It's too cold for long walks. DH and I did 3 miles this morning and nearly froze to death. DH's endless complaining didn't exactly get my oxytocin flowing!

phoenixrose314 · 23/02/2013 17:38

I've been doing the hula hooping the last two days!! As well as the step one. Will keep doing it daily til baby makes an arrival!!

Am getting quite tired of the Wii making 'Uh-Oh' noises and telling me I'm obese, though...

Can I join? I'm due on Weds with DC2 and feel like a ticking time bomb. Everywhere I go I get people saying 'I hope you don't have the baby here'!

Good luck NAR4. Hope all goes well for you this time but will all be worth it in the end. Come back and let us know.

Littleturkish - I'm due the same day as you. I was 2 days over last day so didn't need a sweep luckily. I'm hoping nit to need one this time either but I think I'll consider one at 41 weeks to avoid induction.

Can I join you ladies? 40+4 with DC3. Induced at 40+14, and 40+12 for previous DCs so resigning myself to being induced yet again!

Good luck NAR4, I hope your contractions have continued and perhaps you have a snuggly baby in your arms right now!

The waiting game is horrible, every twinge makes me think this might be it but definitely nothing happening. Midwife did a sweep on thurs but cervix wasn't particularly favourable. I have lost some of my mucus plug though. However last pregnancy had 3 sweeps and each time the midwife told my my cervix was really favourable and they couldn't believe it when I still ended up being induced.

Perhaps some of us just can't go into labour naturally. I will try and leave induction until 40+13, or 40+14. Another 2 sweeps planned for tues/thurs this coming week so will just have to wait and see.

DH has to go to prague for a week for work on 18th March so I want this baby out asap. I am not looking forward to having to manage on my own for a week with a baby only a few weeks, a 22 month old ds , plus dd who is in reception at school. I don't know how on earth I will get us all out of the house in time for the morning school run!

Wow Muggle, what bad timing for your DH. If it helps you have just made me feel much better about coping with 20 month DS and newborn! Sending spontaneous labour vibes your way for this time - fingers crossed!

Isn't everyone so sick of thinking 'is this it' for every twinge. Especially based upon my last labour I remember thinking if you have to ask if this is it, then it definitely isn't.

What happened to the old wives tale that you will go into labour earlier & earlier with each child?? Hmmm. My midwife claims there will be lots of babies born on Monday as full moons always coincide with higher than average births. Fingers crossed!

phoenixrose314 · 23/02/2013 22:22

Ooh that is interesting!! I'd love for my little one to be a full moon baby :)

Yes I am sick of it. This is my first so really unsure what to expect, especially as nobody anywhere seems to be able to explain exactly what early contractions SHOULD feel like, so with every twinge I get excited thinking this might be it!!

Good luck to everyone else out there in the same position as me... Lets hope we have a sudden influx of full moon babies on Monday!

Hya I'm due today but just getting a few BH. Done the deed wirh hubby to encourage things along, but who knows? DC1 was 40+14 and DC2 was 40+9 so this baby might still have some time to.cook yet.
I go on my ball for a bit, hut trying to sleep as much as pos.
Fed up of 'have you had it yet?' Or going out and people getting fidgety and nervous like I'll suddenly give birth in front of them (if only it were so easy!) I'm twinge spotting too, but as someone else said, if I have to ask Is this it? Then it probably isn't!!
Good luck, fingers crossed for Full Moon babies xxx

Apparently the full moon theory has been resoundedly disproved - which is a good thing or there'd be chaos on labour ward and obv we'll all be there having lovely calm births a bit like a spa treatment.

Report
leannac · 24/02/2013 21:25

Oo yes pls to lovely calm spa treatment style birth tomorrow. Rather than horrendous agonising terrifying labour following induction at 40&14!

Torben was born on Saturday at 9.54pm, weighing 7lb 9.5ozs, in his bag of waters. Contractions only became regular after a check of my cervix at the hospital, when they said I was 2-3cm. Was pushing within half hour though.

Good luck to everyone.

Hi 39+3 today.
Not desperate at all yet, but feeling the needed to whinge about my terrible acid and rib pain.
Has anyone else got burning/muscular type pains under their ribs. I just can't sleepSad
so nice to follow other people in the same position and then see posts on the births (congrats NAR4). Grin
Have had some snotty Brown in the knickers (tmi?) and lots of heavy pressure 'down below' but no pain at all.
Hope you don't mind if I join in the chat. Hope it will help to pass the time.

Wonder if there'll be any full moon babies tonight then? No signs here yet.

Does sounds promising chocosaurus. Fingers crossed!

I totally empathise WithNail. I had awful piles after DS1. Anusol helped esp. after a warm bath.
