Anybody else overdue/due soon?

Hi Everyone

I am 4 days overdue and completely fed up!Can't sleep at night because of painful hips and heartburn from hell, and am just sick of sitting waiting around!Every pain comes with a desperate hope that it will turn into a contraction, even the ear ache I had yesterday was googled to see if this was a sign of labour (desperate times)

Plus on top of that, I can't deal with another message/phone call asking if I have had the baby yet, especially off close family members! What do they expect me to say- 'yes I had him last week, do you not follow me on twitter?'. Do they not think I would of been in contact as soon as I possibly could to tell them the good news!!

Anyway, I am just moaning now!Was just wondering if there are any fellow pregnant ladies due to pop any day now,and fancy a chat to pass time until our little bundles of joy arrive!

Waters went at 3am this morning Grin

Currently contracting regularly but hospital sent me home as only 2cm dilated - think strong thoughts for me!!!

You're so right phoenix. Are you out of hospital now? I hope all is okay and you and baby are safe and sound. x

Congratulations sausagemother!! I was really hoping those contractions would turn into something real for you!!

I've actually had a bit of a revelation about wanting this labour so desperately - yesterday there was a good chance baby could have been in very real danger and I could've been induced, and it made me realise that nothing is more important than my baby's health. If he's not ready to come out, fair enough - I would rather wait until he's ready :)

Delighted to say that DD arrived at 14.19 today weighing 7lb 8oz. Contractions were very slow this morning but then everything happened so quickly this afternoon that my husband nearly delivered the baby on the phone to 999. Paramedic arrived as head was out and baby was born just a few mins later! Very intense but amazing experience. DS has been lovely to his new sister so far and given her lots of kisses. Just enjoying a newborn snuggle waiting for pizza!

All the best to everyone. It really is all worth it in the end!

Congratulations bbface!! Sounds like you're in baby heaven!

I've been in hospital all this morning with suspected pre eclampsia - my blood pressure is high and they've sentenced me to bed rest of all things!!! Feeling very gloomy now as expect baby wont be making any surprise appearances if I've been forbidden to move. Sigh!

At least baby is happy and healthy - wont be long until we all have scrumptious little bundles to snuggle :) Exciting news about contractions though sausage, hope it turns into something real for you!!

Oo.. cross post there bbface! Congratulations - fab news! Did you have a boy or a girl? Thanks for coming back to share your news!

I'm a second timer and I think this one is going to take it's time getting here. Might be quick once things start properly though. So glad all went well for you and your lovely new baby - enjoy! How is DC1 coping?

Sounds frustrating catlady. Hope all goes well for Sunday if nothing happens before then. Let's hope baby's head re-engages too.

41+2 today (getting used to being late now!). Contractions have started - woo hoo! Not at all regular or too strong at the moment though and sometimes a gap of 20 mins between them but it's a start. Had another show this morning so really hoping that things will start in earnest today/tonight.

As I write this, my baby is feeding and doing an enormous poo by the feel of it! I had forgotten how blissful breastfeeding is.

Straightforward birth on wed afternoon. Very very quick, frighteningly so actually! Second timers... Do not hang around!

Good luck to all xxxx

Another failed attempt at a sweep for me :( baby's head is completely free again too. Starting to get a bit frustrating now! My blood pressure is up again too, not terribly high but my hands are a bit swollen so she's coming to me on Sunday to check it again. Other than that I've just got to go back next week :( oh well!

Phoenix LOL at Fantasia hippos! I am totally with you on that one! Must be annoying to be told you'll probably give birth early and then just keep waiting. I thought I'd be earlyish too as DS was born at 40+2 but I've definitely learnt that these babies do not follow any rules! Hope you enjoyed the cinema though.

Christilass sorry to hear that. I hope all goes well for you at the hospital and there is nothing to worry about. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Glad your sweep went well, hopefully will get things moving for you!

I am only 39+2, but I have a medical condition which doctors said probably meant I'd give birth earlier rather than later - sadly goes to show how much they know as I'm prancing about the house like one of those hippos from Fantasia and still no baby... Argh!!

Am off out to cinema today, hoping that being out will cause my waters to break in a spectacular fashion Grin

Good luck to everyone else still waiting!

Hi Tinkerbell. I know it's hard. I think it's harder waiting for your first. Especially if you've done NCT or similar and know of other people having their babies but you're still waiting. Hope you can get comfortable and baby doesn't keep you waiting too long.

Quick update from me - 41+1 today had some good cramps last night which died off a bit this morning but have also lost my mucus plug so hopeful that things will start in the next few days.

Hi sausage, I know I should be glad to have the time to myself, and it is nice, I'm just so uncomfortable! And I'm running out of things to entertain myself with!

But I know I will miss this time afterwards, so I shall be glad of it now!

Well, just got back from my sweep and it was fine. A lot easier than I thought. I am 2-3 cms dilated and baby's head is very low (1/5th so progress from 3/5th last week). Although this is second time round so apparently being a bit dilated already is not a surprise. Midwife felt my bump and said 'does it often go hard like that' and I said I assumed that was just Braxton Hicks as there's no pain with it. She said that it was more than BH so fingers crossed baby will be on the way soon otherwise I'm booked for induction next Weds at 42 weeks.

Christilass and catlady1 good luck for your sweeps tomorrow. Hopefully the midwife will be able to do what they need to and get these babies moving!

Tinkerbell if this is your first I would try and expect to be a bit late and then if you are early it's a nice surprise. I know everyone has probably said it to you already but try and enjoy these weeks to yourself. I know it's hard not to want baby to arrive though.

I know that feeling Tinkerbell, my midwife examined me last week intended to do a sweep (I was 39+2) and I was convinced she was going to say I was starting to dilate and everything and that I wouldn't be long, even though it was before my due date... turned out she couldn't even reach my cervix and baby's head was no longer engaged :( she's trying again tomorrow so I'm hoping things have progressed!

Christilass I'd love my baby to get here in time for Mothers' Day too, hopefully our sweeps work tomorrow!

I'm now 37+5 with first. had MW appointment this afternoon and was secretly hoping that she'd say something along the lines of 'oh my, any moment now' but she didn't.

Getting quite uncomfortable and want to meet baby! But I'm sure i'll miss this time to myself once she's here!

Congratulations worsestershiresauce! So lovely to hear that another baby has been born. Did you have a DS or DD? Enjoy those lovely newborn cuddles!

Leannac, still thinking of you. Hoping that your baby is here now and induction process is not dragging on for you. All the best either way.

I am 41 weeks today and booked in for a sweep this evening. Really hope it isn't too painful and that it works!
