Just looking for like-minded ladies who are also new at this weird and wonderful thing to share my terror joy...

Feeling good so far at 5+3 although obv very early days and so much talk of miscarriage on this forum that it can become a little scary. Huge sympathy for anyone who's had a miscarriage, btw.

But thought I'd ask:

*how long had you been trying?
*how far along are you (if you know)?
*how are you feeling? Symptoms etc
*who have you told?
*are you, like me, rabidly Googling EVERYTHING?

Mine's actually being alright, he has taken over emptying the cat litter box which he absolutely refused to do before. His main job right now is to be the voice of reason when I go off the deep end with my constant mentalling.

twinklingelephant · 19/09/2012 17:51

I don't think its sunk in with him yet. He's been working today unlike me (spent much of the day researching early pregnancy on the internet!) Thats why I showed him the tests this afternoon as I wanted him to realise its happening. He thought we could only be sure once a doctor did a test and had a bit of a surprise when I told him thats not how it works anymore!
Now he's very thoughtful and quiet about it. He is a thinker anyway so I suppose its to be expected. I'm going to ask him to come to my midwife's appt when I get that sorted so he has a chance to ask questions too.

DH was very scared of DTD initially! We've also had to have candid conversations about tiredness. He works more hours than me but obviously growing a baby is hard work! So he has picked up more around the house.

He found it quite reassuring to come to my booking in appointment I think. He actually googles regularly to see how big the baby is now which I think is sweet! Actually, new exciting toy! He just searched and found an iPhone Doppler app - we think we could hear the baby's heartbeat! The app said you can hear from about 9 weeks and I'm 8+5 now. Very exciting! :)

fertilityFTW · 19/09/2012 18:18

Yeah, I think mine's waiting for the iffy time period to pass before he lets himself come to terms with it - hence the distance perhaps? Ah well, they're curious creatures much like ourselves.

AuntyDiluvian · 19/09/2012 18:30

How's the cold, Geordie? I had it last week - all week - and was totally wiped out and lost without Night Nurse. Got through it with paracetamol (as per doctor's advice), sticking head over sink of v hot water with a towel-steam-tent, and a lot of whingeing.
I also found it totally impossible to drink enough water with the combo of pregnancy and snotface. Good luck!

It must be hard for them though - at least we have the signs and symptoms. Mine asks most days Still pregnant? The other day he asked if I'd had any bleeding. Of course I told him he'd be the first to know if I did! I think my DH is getting more excited as each day passes aside from Monday when I was ill and we were terrified! and can't wait til the 12 week scan to see the bean and be able to tell people! :)

Hello newcomers! You're very welcome here at early crazy towers!

Cold a little better today. A bit snuffly. Hopefully I'll ride it without the need for any more meds

Met my friend for lunch today whom I suspected of also being early up duffed. Yep, she is!

They've been trying ages & we've shared tips over the months so I'm totally thrilled for her. She's a coupla weeks ahead of me so we'll have a lot to share between now & May!

Home alone this eve so had a none DP friendly tea & seriously considering getting into bed with the iPad...

Going to head to New Look at the weekend. Neeeed a new bra. Speed bumps are not my friend ATM

Oh, & DP reaction? Absolutely brilliant. Asks me how I'm feeling every morning & eve. Cooking more than usual. Got a Dad to be app Grin Couldn't ask for better Smile

GeordieCherry · 19/09/2012 19:34

Oh & drinking twice as much?? I'm a 2-3 litres a day girl. Cripes! I have been feeling thirsty though & drinking more will help combat the tiredness. Can I really manage any more loo visits though..?

Thanks very much for the paracetamol reassurance ladies Smile

HaveALittleFaith · 19/09/2012 19:36

I know, I know! I drink about 2 litres a day myself. Makes sense though I guess. I feel thirsty all the time now and the more I drink the less constipated I am.

GeordieCherry · 19/09/2012 19:53

I'll give it a shot over the next few days. I foresee many more trips to the bog Blush

WeatherWitch · 20/09/2012 09:39

DH has always been an old-fashioned, man of few words type who believes that it's his job to put the bins out, lock up at night, get up first in the morning to walk the dog etc so he's just being even more like that. Ironic really as he's in the Navy and therefore only home 2 weeks out of 6 - I do manage to run the house when he's at sea! I think he's pretty excited though - was delighted when he realised he was going to be at home for the first scan. Oh, and we're just moved house and even though DH had to leave at 4am to get back to his ship he still got up in the middle of the night on our first night there to calm the dog down when he started crying (dog, not DH). Bodes well! :)

laurajane89 · 20/09/2012 10:16

Thankyou HaveALIttleFaith, i havent booked an appointment with my gp yet as i thought it was too early, what do you think?

fertilityFTW · 20/09/2012 10:24

Aww, WeatherWitch, your DH sounds luffly! Love the app story Geordie, that's sweet, and this Doppler app sounds fun too Faith! I'm hoping after scan DP will allow himself to get excited a bit more, we're both trying to be wary atm (unsuccessfully for me!) :)

laura I got totally overexcited and booked at GP the second I saw a faint line Grin - luckily GP wasn't available till today (week and a bit later) otherwise they'd probably have tossed me out for showing up just with a twinkle in my eye and a wild hope!

laurajane89 · 20/09/2012 10:29

How far along are you fertilityFTW?

fertilityFTW · 20/09/2012 10:46

5+2 I think :)

HaveALittleFaith · 20/09/2012 10:55

I saw my GP within a week because I was on quite a lot of medication and got my booking in appointment a week after. If you're not taking medication, you don't really need to see the GP, you can just tell the receptionist you're pregnant and ask to see the midwife.

I know my provisional scan date - 17th October which is still forever away! I'll be 12+5 by then! Angry I want it now!

fertilityFTW · 20/09/2012 11:09

Oh, I didn't know that you didn't have to see GP! I called receptionist and she said GP and then MW following Tuesday probably. Hmm Perhaps to do with having been under fertility investigations? I expect GP appt will last all of 5 mins. but it'll be nice to talk to someone in RL about it all the same, make it a little more real!

laurajane89 · 20/09/2012 12:40

I have just rang my doctors surgery and the receptionist said i dont need to see my gp so she has booked me in with the midwife next thursday Smile

scottishgirl242 · 20/09/2012 13:01

Hi all, congratulations to everyone!

I found out yesterday that I'm pregnant (4+5, I think) and I am in shock! I'm 36 and we have been trying for a while. We had fertility tests in the summer and was planning on IVF in January. Feels a bit surreal, have had a blood test today to confirm (I did 2 home tests yesterday) and I have Epilespy so there is a bit of a concern. We live in Almaty, Kazakhstan so I will not be having the baby here! No nausea or sickness yet, am I too early for that? Apart from agonising heartburn all day for the last week and constantly needing to pee, it's all good. We have told family and close friends, but I wish I was back home to enjoy it with them. x

fertilityFTW · 20/09/2012 13:27

Oh well, GP's quite nice, an extra 5 mins with her shouldn't be a bad thing :)

Congratulations scottishgirl242! We were in for fertility treatment too when we found out - feels very surreal indeed, don't think either one of us has actually absorbed it really. I don't have family/friends where I live either - so it's MN all the way :)

scottishgirl242 · 20/09/2012 14:31

Thanks fertilityFTW, it's good to hear that someone else is in the same boat. Yes, I think MN is going to be my new BF!

GeordieCherry · 20/09/2012 19:41

I saw the GP because I'd initially booked a "why aren't we pg yet??" appointment!

He just took my bp, asked about medication & gave me the phone number for the midwife. Booking in 5 October. Cannot wait!!

fertilityFTW · 20/09/2012 21:30

Same here Geordie - filled a form, took bp, and booked me in for next Tuesday :)
