Just looking for like-minded ladies who are also new at this weird and wonderful thing to share my terror joy...

Feeling good so far at 5+3 although obv very early days and so much talk of miscarriage on this forum that it can become a little scary. Huge sympathy for anyone who's had a miscarriage, btw.

But thought I'd ask:

*how long had you been trying?
*how far along are you (if you know)?
*how are you feeling? Symptoms etc
*who have you told?
*are you, like me, rabidly Googling EVERYTHING?

Hi!

Congratulations to all of you! Smile

I'm 4/5 weeks. Went in for an early scan today as had pain but was told the sac looked really small for 4/5 weeks (they weren't sure if it even was a sac!) so not sure what's happening though ectopic has been most likely eliminated (but still nothing conclusive). Quite worried but hoping it'll all work out. Waiting for results to come back tomorrow.

In terms of symptoms, feel more hungry, constipated and since yesterday started getting back aches, but trying to ignore it and keep on working! :)

rainand · 20/09/2012 21:39

And oh yes, just recovering from an awful cold! Looks like its a pregnancy symptom by what everyone is saying ...

GeordieCherry · 20/09/2012 23:30

Hiya Rainand. I think the cold-ness is cos our immune system is a bit depressed so we don't reject the invading bean. Small price to pay Smile.

Going through my wardrobe bit by bit & putting things away I won't be wearing for a bit. Currently most of my underwear (boo, cos it was just my birthday & got scrummy new stuff) & jeans.

Also replacing toiletries for 'natural' ones as I go as well. Finding an Aveda salon as I'll need me roots doing soon Blush

Ahh, Friday eve. Shirking from home tomorrow. Looking forward to yoga Grin

rainaud early scans are not always helpful. I had my first at what I thought was 5+2 and we couldn't see anything at all. Went back at 5+5 and saw a small sac which set my date back to 5+2 according to the size and now have had my third scan which still showed an empty sac albeit a bigger one. Dr. is not worried but is having me come back next Thursday at which point there should definitely be something in the sac. I can't really date my pregnancy as it keeps changing at this point and it's causing a lot of worry.

On the one hand you want to know if something is going wrong but you could be causing yourself a lot of unnecessary stress if your pregnancy is simply developing a little differently (or if your dates are off even slightly).

In short, don't worry yourself too much, there are so many variables that we just can't know at this point. Oh, and step away from google, you will just drive yourself crazy.

Had my booking in appointment at my house last week and it was fine - the MW was absolutely lovely (just as well, since my dog stole her stethoscope and took it off to his bed half way through the appointment! - fortunately she has dogs as well) and spent as long as I wanted talking through everything. I have a history of depression so she was great about going through where I can find support, and was also refreshingly normal and practical. I was telling her that I'd been washing my hands hundreds of times a day because of the dog and getting paranoid about washing veg (I grow all of my own) and she told me to relax about it, that I'd almost certainly already got immunity to most things I could catch from either dogs or veg and that when the baby comes it needs a bit of dirt to develop its immune system. She took blood pressure, blood and urine samples and got me to do a chlamydia swab and the rest was answering questions about my medical history and watching her fill in forms. It all feels real now though. Eeek!

GeordieCherry · 21/09/2012 08:52

Step away from google Medusa?? Too late! Blush

Witch that sounds luvverly. So jealous. I really want my pg 'validated' by someone medical

All those 2 week waits feel like a long time ago! Seeing the travel nurse 5 Oct to see about going to the Philippines. Then 15 Oct for booking in. I might get a bit unbearable between now & then...

So glad it's the weekend. Really want to get the house sorted, do some exercise, buy some stretchy clothes. And sleeep

rainand · 21/09/2012 08:58

''Oh, and step away from google, you will just drive yourself crazy.'''

MissMedusa:
Hahah this is very true! I read so much up that last night I felt my shoulder tip was painting. I wasn't sure if it really was or if it was because of everything I had read ...

MissMedusa · 21/09/2012 09:05

scottishgirl and fertilityFTW that's really funny. We had just been referred to a fertility clinic as well after a year of no luck TTC. Had our initial check-ups and were planning to go ahead with IUI next cycle! Crazy that we all got pregnant before we had to take that step!

fertilityFTW · 21/09/2012 09:11

MissMedusa we asked the consultant why this was so common and she said quite possibly because of all the lifestyle changes that couples commit to in advance of starting treatment. e.g. we'd stopped smoking, drinking, limited caffeine, drank more water etc. over the preceding months so maybe it was the nice clean system. DH's SA figures went up by more than half after he quit smoking (after having done so for many decades!)

WeatherWitch · 21/09/2012 09:26

Rainand & Medusa, I completely agree that Google is the enemy. So far I've convinced myself I've DEFINITELY got an ectopic pregnancy, missed MC, ordinary MC, toxoplasmosis and listeriosis. Actually found myself googling whether olives were safe to eat yesterday. Olives?! Why on earth wouldn't they be?

My mother laughs at me daily and keeps telling me that it was all easier in her day when it was as simple as "if you started bleeding then you weren't having a baby, if you didn't then you were."

MissMedusa · 21/09/2012 10:12

fertilityFTW that does make sense, we had been making healthy changes to our lifestyle in anticipation (you don't want to go through all that money and stress for nothing). We were on holiday as well so low stress must have helped as well.

GeordieCherry · 21/09/2012 17:17

Anyone else freezing cold..?

HaveALittleFaith · 21/09/2012 17:39

Ha just had that conversation on my 'due in April' ante-natal thread! Yes, ruddy freezing! More than is reasonable for the time of year. I'm sitting with the fire on in the living room!

I've been very good at avoiding the google actually - only to know when an ectopic would be likely to occur/when you'd know, just because my Mum had one. Just a bit paranoid but more settled since I reached 9+0 today :)

Onemoreforgoodmeasure · 21/09/2012 18:24

Aha, a thread I can use!!!! Hello everyone! I'm too early to have much of a thread to go to. Tomorrow I will be 4 weeks, got my BFP two days ago! I've had boob ache, bleeding gums, mild constipation and gassyness. I had an mc in March so haven't felt as wildly excited as last time - that said, I am very, very happy and just hope this one stays around.

My sleep is out of whack so I'm tired and I'm eating loads, which is silly because I never lost the weight I'd gained up to March! I wasn't having much wine or coffee but I miss it now!

I'm desperate for a thread as it's too early to talk about it in RL. I've told my mother, an aunt and a BF, and I'll tell one more person next week, and I think that will be it for a while.

GeordieCherry · 21/09/2012 19:21

Welcome OneMore! We alllll know what' it's like to need someone to tell but be all sensibly not telling RL people Smile

Sorry to hear about the MC. You could try reflexology or acupuncture to help he bean stick around. I've had both & highly recommend them, at the least for relaxation

Glad I'm not the only one feeling nesh. Many clothes in the day, heating on at home & PJs in bed!

Takeaway tonight Grin

SeaSalt1 · 21/09/2012 21:22

Hi everyone, so lovely to read all your stories, and huge congratulations to everyone, a really happy thread!

I had a positive test on Tuesday and then another one today (just to be sure). I'm 5 weeks now and we are moving to Singapore next Friday for six months for my work, so a number of huge life changes are all happening in the same couple of weeks. I am excited and happy and completely terrified all at once. Symptoms so far include sore breasts, nausea, feeling faint etc. etc. This is my first pregnancy and we conceived on the very first go so are still a little in shock, but recognise how lucky we are and are crossing our fingers that all is well with the little bean.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas for pregnancy support in Singapore, that would be wonderful!

GeordieCherry · 21/09/2012 21:31

Hello & welcome Seasalt Exciting times for you!

Zero advice for Singapore pg...

I hear ya on the sore boobs. Had to put lots of my bras in storage & wearing a non wired at night. Ouch!

Onemoreforgoodmeasure · 22/09/2012 06:45

Thank you Geordie, Hi Seasalt, wow, lots of big changes! Last time I found sleeping in tight vest tops helpful and comfortable for sleeping in. I thought I'd get some sports bra type things this time as the tight vest top wasn't such a hot look!

GeordieCherry · 22/09/2012 07:14

One try Sports Direct for bargain Lonsdale sports bras. No good for actual sport as they're not supportive enough but good for sleeping. Get the bras rather than the crop top

(I'm loathe to recommend Sports Direct as the owner Mike Ashley also owns Newcastle Utd & we all hate him. But he is a pedlar of cheap sports wear Wink)

HaveALittleFaith · 22/09/2012 08:12

Yes I agree the Lonsdale sports bra are great for this time - I have three! Get the sports bra though not the crop top - the straps on the latter are really high at the back.

GeordieCherry · 22/09/2012 08:19

Agreed Faith. The crop tops are good for yer actual sport, although I'm going to need a larger size, oof!

HaveALittleFaith · 22/09/2012 08:53

I've graduated this morning from a D to DD. I have the next back size up waiting in the wings but because my weight has stayed stable (so far!) I don't need it yet. I did try on one of my larger underwrites this morning. It is no longer man enough for the job!

I'm 9+1 today :)

GeordieCherry · 22/09/2012 09:13

I wonder if it's worth getting measured every few weeks... Off to New Look today to get some stretchy things from their maternity range

Can't wear anything with a proper waistband so all my jeans are out. They have bump bands so I can use it instead of fastening the button up!

I'm doing less exercise & eating more carbs so no wonder...

Onemoreforgoodmeasure · 22/09/2012 15:19

Thanks Geordie! Will have a look now!

HaveALittleFaith · 22/09/2012 16:45

I read somewhere you should be measured fortnightly! I might try mother care, they've got some lovely maternity bras!
