High HCG but nothing found on scan? :(

So my last period was the 10th of june.
I have a 30 day cycle and ovulate around day 21. I went to A&E last wednes day (18th june) with water infection. They tested my pee and it was clear.
They booked me a scan for last friday (20th june)..they did internal scan and nothing was seen in my womb or tubes i had bloods and they came back at 2483...they are saying that a sac should at least be seen when levels are at 1500. im so confused, how am i pregnant yet there is nothing there? i now have to wait for friday for a rescan. this is my fourth pregnancy

Hello, I'm new to this, I wanted to come on here and discuss, and maybe somebody can help me out well about a month. And a half ago, we found out I was pregnant, come to find out, I'm actually 8 weeks pregnant from what they say, my my levels are. They went in and did an ultrasound, and didn't see nothing in there, so they had to do surgery to go to see what was in my tubes, nothing in my tubes, then they gave me a c t scan, and they found a cyst and something else on my ovary. So then they gave me the method tricks on.which is a chemo drug to help dissolve it well, I had 3 dosage of them, and I tend to bleed a lot from it. So we thought I was having a miscarriage, went to the e r and come to find out I wasn't having a miscarriage, they said that my levels dropped from 11000 to 6500 from 6500 I'm at 2300. So from there on, they gave me a choice to either take the chemo drug again or get my ovary removed while we went and got my ovary removed December 31st 2019, which was yesterday. Gotta go back to get blood work done to see what is going on. The doctor said that when she took my ovarie out she didn't see the baby just the cyst. So I'm scared right now. Anyone have had this and come out ok? I can't have any more kids because I've had 4 c sections and my scar tissue is sowed into my stomach so opening me back up will kill me. So I am at a loss.

Hi Everyone! My first post here! I had an ectopic pregnancy Feb 2020 then my son was born sleeping at 33 weeks in November 😢 Iam approx 5 weeks and 1 day pregnant, My Hcg is 2269 but they were unable to see a yolk scan on my scan today. Please tell me its way to early, and when i go back next week I will have some good news. Did this happen to anyone else, high hcg but no sac seen? And how did it turn out. I cant take any more loss 😞Thanks so much

Super sad and stressed out so I'll make this post easiest to understand as possible. I have very irregular periods and dont remember when my last was maybe march 20? Anyways took a test April 4th because my breast hurt and it was SO NEG. Well tried again april 14th bc I was super nauseous. It was positive SO fast I wasn't even done peeing LOL. Well I've taken about 8 all.+. Well last week April 19th I had slight pink spotting only when I pee. I went to dr they did bloods and a US. Well HCG was 17500 but scan showed no embryo ..the sac is just empty. They scheduled me for a follow up 7 days later with ob, did blood today so I'll know if HCG is going up, but US still shows empty sac. Has anyone had this happen and eventually it showed a baby? The fact my levels are so high they said its most likely ectopic or going to be non viable but I'm holding out hope.

7 weeks tomorrow 7900 HCG didn't see anything in US very bloated and gassy couldn't see the tubes either to see if it was ectopic pregnancy. I have another scan tomorrow and bloodwrk repeat. I have not experience any symptoms of ectopic jus yet. I am preparing myself for an ectopic outcome. Been researching and nothing i could find relating to my situation. No sac no nothing in uterus

@phiphi23 did you end up having twins I'm currently going through the same situation curious as to what happened.Im way earlier than we thought but they saw two days I'm just only 4 wks and 5 days.

I'm in this same boat right now..I need help! So yesterday I went to the ER because I was having cramps they did a ultrasound and couldn't see anything they seen a small cyst on my right ovary but that's it hcg was 3840 2 days before it was 1900 so dr said its doubling like it's supposed too and said that I might be to early but I can't stop worrying especially because I had a molar pregnancy one year ago. Want to know if anyone is in a similar case

Just thought I would comment on here for anyone scouring through these comments to see something positive anything positive!

This was my first pregnancy and I was supposedly 5 weeks and 5 days when I had some pains and was told to go the emergency. I had bloods taken and an ultrasound done, my levels were at 1700 but sadly they couldn’t see anything on the scan not even a sac! We were immediately referred to the early pregnancy assessment unit and we’re met with nothing but doom and gloom everyone preparing us for the worst and assuming it was an ectopic pregnancy. My partner spent the next week in heart ache preparing for the worst, I was unable to sleep or eat or even work as I was sick with worry but we tried to hold out hope! I had another blood test 72 hours later and my HCG had shot up to 5596 so it was now or never that we would see something! We had a scan today and they saw a sac and a yolk sac and I am measuring a week earlier than they predicted which is what I had suspected!

Hold out hope and think positively

Hcg levels are 2500 (6 weeks 5 days as per App) in scan they can't see anything. They are suspecting ectopic but they can't see anything in tubes. Repeated test if hcg levels go up and still nothing seen they will give me a drug and finish pregnancy. But after reading here i realized that some of you have luck next week. Doctor saying we can't risk your life. I don't know what to do.

When ultrasound was done and no sac. They asked you your choice to wait for another ultrasound or declared ectopic.
How much gap they put between both ultrasound.
For me they repeating today which is gap of 2 days only. My hcg was 3313 yesterday

It’s great that I got to this thread which gives some ray of hope after a week of darkness.

My first day of last period was on 1st July 2021 that makes me 8 weeks pregnant now. I went to see the Gynae when it was 7 weeks and they couldn’t see anything on TVS (transvaginal ultrasound). They took my blood test that showed 13000 HCG which was too high.. after 4 days I was asked to go to emergency where the same tests were repeated… HCG this time was 16000 but they could only see a very small sac in uterus. They also ruled out ectopic as there was no blood on anything in Fallopian tubes and ovaries were clear too.. I was sent back home stating this is possibly abnormal pregnancy and would turn into miscarriage however they would like to repeat the tests in a week.. This time is so panicking. I have symptoms and hormones and knowing no baby is frustrating

Well at last I had extremely painful natural miscarriage. Spotting started on 31st aug and in a day a half major bleeding for few days with tissues. It’s third week however I’m still bleeding though light. Is it normal?

My last period was August 8-12. My period for December was due September 3rd, however I started spotting September 2-3. I thought it was my period but it stopped. I took a pregnancy test September 4th and it was positive even though one line was very faded. Went to my GYN September 7th they confirmed pregnancy but HCG was 93 & they didn’t see anything. Took another HCG test September 14 and the number is 500 & they still don’t see anything. I’ve been bleeding lightly since September 11-present. They took another HCG test today (September 15) so let’s see. I was assuming it’s a miscarriage & so was the ultrasound tech but the nurse called me saying the numbers are increasing so Idk.

Hi ladies, hoping for some reassurance and advice. Went into my first ultrasound today at what I predicted 8 weeks 4 days. During the ultrasound I could tell my doctor was concerned. The monitor didn’t show anything. She then ordered a blood test. She called and said my blood work looked okay and I will go back in 48 hours to retest. Before the ultrasound I did go to the bathroom (forgot to hold it). My issue is I got my first positive September 15, I’ve had very sore breasts but not a lot of other issues. In august I had a chemical pregnancy and the bled. Right after that bleeding which ended august 18th, i then got that positive September 15th. So I don’t know when I ovulated after that and if I am not as nearly far along as I thought. Anyone ever deal with this? I’m so stressed out

Turned out I had an ectopic pregnancy...AGAIN. This time they removed the right Fallopian tube with surgery. Sad but I’m staying strong.

Oct 21 - 6430 no ges sac, clear tubes, right ovary shows 2 small cysts(?? - doctor said no blood supply surrounding it so its probably a cyst)

Now they want me to go for another scan and bloodtests on Oct 23. Dr. told me that if they still wont see anything on scan, they will consider it as pregnancy of unknown location and proceed with either methotrexate or laparoscopy on that same day.
The only symptoms that I had was some dull pain on my right pelvic area that started Sept 27, which becomes worse after lifting / standing abruptly from crouching down, but then pain goes away after some rest. I always had this pain every time I had my period. So I was thinking that it MIGHT not be because I have ectopic.

Now i dont know if I should go with just the laparoscopy on Oct 23 (if scan shows nothing), go with laparoscopy and methotrexate, or just wait it out for a few more days.
It's just that drs say it is more dangerous if I keep delaying it since it mights burst / rupture.

Hi, just an update

So, i had severe cramping but no bleeding today. DH and I went to ER. Ultrasound scan was done again, still no sign of gestational sac anywhere but I had some free fluid (blood) on the right lower side of my abdomen. I was booked for OR right away.
They discovered that I had a tubal pregnancy on my right fallopian tube that had ruptured. They had that tube removed. 😔

My Hcg level came out 1200 and this is my 6th week and nothing was visible on scan. Is this normal?

Hi Rhea0285, based on what my doctor told me, they have a beta hcg discriminatory zone. This is the level which a gestational sac should be seen in a scan. Some would say that at hcg level of at least 1800, a sac should be seen. But some would say at least bhcg of 3000. I think it would be best for you to talk to your dr. about it. They might wait a bit for your hcg to rise a little bit more before they do another scan. I hope that everything will turn out fine for you!

My husband and I have been ttc for a year and half. I finally got a bfp on November 11th(Thursday). That would put me close to 5 weeks when I got my bfp. On November 14th(Sunday) I started bleeding. It wasn't a lot it but it was a significant amount. I called the doctor and they scheduled me an appointment for November 16th(Tuesday). I was still slightly bleeding when I had my doctor appointment. I had also been taking pregnancy tests everyday and continued to get faint positives. The doctor examined me and said my cervix was closed, but she suspected possible miscarriage. So she ordered an ultrasound and blood work. My blood work came back that day hcg was 56.3. Progesterone was 0.4. I then had an ultrasound on the 18th(Thursday) and there was no fetus and no gestational sac. They also found some cysts. The doctor ordered more blood work. So the 22nd(Monday) I had more blood work done. My hcg levels when up to 513.6 Dr. Did not retest progesterone. I then had a second ultrasound and more blood work on the 26th(Friday). Still no fetus or gestational sac on the ultrasound. Hcg levels elevated to 1678.0. I see the doctor the 29th(Monday). I have also still been taking pregnancy tests and the lines are considerably darker than in the beginning. I just want to know if anyone else has experienced anything like this. I'm still having minor pregnancy symptoms. I just want answers I don't know if I've had a miscarriage, if this is an ectopic pregnancy or what is going on. They havent been able to see a fetus so far so I'm not hopeful 😔 Any advice is appreciated. This would be second pregnancy, I didn't go through anything like this with my first.

So I thought I was 6 weeks 3 days pregnant!
Had spotting/light bleeding and cramps.
Went doctors, was referred to GATU.
Had bloods, examination, swabs and scan.
My hormone level is 700.
Scan couldn’t see anything apart from at one point two small circles, she said she wasn’t sure if it was a sac, amniotic fluid, blood or what? She wasn’t the best as I have a titled cervix and I had to suggest my fist behind my lower back to enable her to see better.. after that the two “circles” couldn’t be seen.
Anyway, I have to go to EAPS on Sunday now (3 days after being at GATU) to have more bloods.. which they’re hoping my hormone levels will double.
I’ve been told that it’s a unknown location pregnancy and that I’m still at risk of being eptopic as they don’t actually know where the “baby” is…. If there is a baby at all?

I’m so emotional atm. I’m terrified as I feel like I’ve lost my baby. I don’t think it’s eptopic as I’m not in that much pain, we’ll I don’t think so anyway?
Has anyone else had this?

Hi everyone and sorry I have been MIA for a few years

Ok so sorry to everyone that is going through what I went through. It was an awful few years of my life and again sorry to be the bearer of bad news but every time I had issues and where symptoms disappeared or hcg wasn’t rising quickly enough they all ended in miscarriages. I had 4 miscarriages in 3 years and it really effected me and I was going through a very dark stage in my life.

I swore to myself 1 last shot at having a baby and went on holiday with my husband and just said if it happens it happens. Roll on a few years and I’m currently sat organising my little boys 3rd birthday 🥳 he is a little rascal and torments his big sister a lot but I wouldn’t change my life for the world, he is my little miracle, both my children are!

Oh and another thing when I eventually did have a successful pregnancy I really didn’t enjoy it at all as every little twinge or lack of movements and things terrified me. Please just relax

Good luck everyone, it’s highly unlikely anyone will be like and have multiple miscarriages so just remember even though everything seems so dark and desperate at the moment, you will have you dream 1 day just take some time for yourself and keep telling yourself

Found out I was pregnant 5/26, everything seamed fine until I started bleeding 6/3 @ 11:34pm. It was very very light but got worse. I got my HCG levels done on 6/1and it was 293 then again on 6/4 and it was 1325, then. Again today 6/5 and they were 1340 after I started bleeding, and I did wake up with dizziness but that went away by late evening time.
Today I spent all my day in ER they did an transvaginal ultrasound sound and your regular type of ultrasound and they saw nothing in the uterus or tube (no sac, fetal pole, or yoke)
I did have my left ovary removed back in 09.
I’m currently bleeding like a period but not passing tissue (I guess if nothing is there, nothing to pass)
I’m even more confused and upset not at the fact it didn’t work out but more because where is it.

The ER doc said that it could have traveled down from the right ovary and went to the left side of where my left ovary my tube would have been and implanted there and that’s why I’m only having stabbing pain on the left side. I’m not cramping at all.
has anyone had this this and was able to get pregnant later, what what your outcome, was it an ovarian pregnancy?
At this point I want to just get a few methotrexate shots and let this start ending, as I wouldn’t mind the waiting game but not at the risk of only and last tube and ovary. I have included my labs and US results to give a full picture of everything.
I did see studies were ovarian pregnancies are mistaken as a corpus luteum cysts, if that is the case would the size of that cyst match the size of a embryo about four or five weeks along? And if it’s in the ovary can methotrexate stop it and we can try again?
I know these are things to ask a doctor but knowing I can’t get in probably anytime soon and spent all day around doctors and didn’t get anywhere my only luck is the Internet.

I’ve joined mumsnet just to add my experience to this as I read through this thread panicking and overanalysing the last few days.
I had a scan 4 days ago and they saw nothing on the ultrasound at all. No sac. My hcg taken just after this was 2600. It had doubled from 2 days previously, but they said that they’d expect to see something at this level, discriminatory zone at 2000 etc etc. Went back for a scan this morning and they found the sac and yolk sac.
I know everyone’s different but this just shows that hcg well over 2000 and nothing visible doesn’t definitely mean the end of the road. Good luck to everyone reading this.
