High HCG but nothing found on scan? :(

So my last period was the 10th of june.
I have a 30 day cycle and ovulate around day 21. I went to A&E last wednes day (18th june) with water infection. They tested my pee and it was clear.
They booked me a scan for last friday (20th june)..they did internal scan and nothing was seen in my womb or tubes i had bloods and they came back at 2483...they are saying that a sac should at least be seen when levels are at 1500. im so confused, how am i pregnant yet there is nothing there? i now have to wait for friday for a rescan. this is my fourth pregnancy

Your doctor is right about the 1500 thing
And your levels don’t seem abnormal for 5 weeks
I’ve had an ectopic pg and normal pg
Both I had cramp/back ache with from very early on

Did you have your bloods done during the ectopic ? If so did they rise still or stay the same

Oh thank you, I have my bloods redone tomorrow can’t wait for it to be over I just want to know what’s going on. Do you know if it’s normal not to see anything on a scan this early I had an internal scan.

Hi Ladies, it's my first post here. Just confused, upset, stressed out...i went in to the EPU as refered by my GP due to suspected EP, HCG was high but no pregnancy found in the uterus or out side, 2days later I went in for blood test, it came out higher and ectopic pregnancy was seen around the left ovaries. To cut it short, I had a laparoscopy but nothing was found and nothing was taken out. Hcg went a bit low before discharge n high again after 2days...everyone is confused, I've been refered to another synographer for a second opinion...has anyone gone through this before, I'm so scared...

I have just came across this thread as I too are going through something very similar.

I found out I was pregnant due to early test on 17th April (one day before my expected period, I track it on my fitbit). This would have been my second period after my miscarriage in February at 8 weeks.
A week later I started experiencing some light spotting then the next day it went from light to quite heavy and red (not enough to fill a pad, only noticed when I went to the toilet and wiped). There were a few clots so I began to think the worst. Had an early scan at supposedly 6 weeks on Friday (3rd May) but nothing was seen on an internal scan just said there was some “product” low down and was asked if my dates were correct. By going from the first day of my last period then yes they were. So it was expected as an early miscarriage. I had my bloods done to check my hcg levels and was then later notified of the result that day. I went back 48 hours later to have them done again and found out they had actually risen by 61% (what on earth) went back today to have them re done and they have gone up by 64% so I’m booked in for a scan in a week to see if anything can be seen. I have been having a slight ache on my right side in the groin area so I keep thinking it’s ectopic but I think I’m just worrying myself.

Anyone out there having or had the same problem?
My HCG level at the moment is 780, my husband and I just don’t know what to think.

Im going through the same thing.... you are not alone.
I had a positive test April 10th. I had a scan april 30th (should have been 6+4) they saw a sac measuring around 6 weeks and that was it. Thursday may 2nd my HCG level was 14047. Monday May 6th my levels were 27219. Which is perfect (higher levels take 4 days to double). Tuesday may 7th I go for another scan and I am measuring 7+1 but no baby of any sort.
My numbers are amazing and my doctor is confident baby will turn up. I go for a scan on Wednesday. She said my sac and levels cant rise the way they are without one. She just doesn't know why they cant find it!
Its a weird place to be in. I sont thinn a baby will turn up as my levels are so high and by 7 weeks something should be there.

Laurikae I’m sorry you are going through the same thing. It’s like I just don’t what to think or feel. My levels aren't as high as yours but I don’t feel pregnant but then I know everyone is different. I’m hoping my dates are wrong and it was just too soon to see anything on Friday.

I’m trying not to get my hopes up to be let down on Monday but since we found out my levels were rising after what we believe was an early miscarriage my husband and I are just in a spin and don’t know what to think.

Mine were over 17000 at what I thought to be 6weeks, but I was 5 and all that could be seen was the gestational sac. I was bleeding so was told probably mc.

Hcg rose over 48 hours. Next scan showed the yolk... And third scan showed a heartbeat

Just took a little longer, but they were surprised bc my hcg was so high and nothing was there...

I’m 12+4 now

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil Awwww I’m so glad everything has worked out well for you. And I hope I too get good news on Monday, it’s just a waiting game at the moment and we just want to know.

So I had a scan today which showed no sac so had my bloods done and they came back in over the 2000s so the doctor seen me and gave me 1 of 3 options... as I’m well to see how I go and have my bloods done again on Wednesday and possible scan next week, to take the tablet (can’t remember the name) or have keyhole surgery. At the moment as I’m well I’m just going to see how I go and just have to hope they see a baby on the scan next week. Really don’t know where this baby is and the sono said my ovaries look fine and nothing outside of them. So just feel like we are none the wiser at the moment. As anyone been through this then had happy news?

I wish I could give you better news. I had blooda on friday may 3 and they were 14k, then monday they were 27k. I thought we were in the clear. Tuesday nothing was in the sac still, even with my levels at 27k. My blood draw thuesday revealed they went down to 19k. No baby formed and we are just waiting on a natural miscarriage.

Oh Laurikae I am so sorry to hear that. I wish getting pregnant and having a healthy pregnancy was easy and uncomplicated. It’s so unfair anyone has to go through this. This is my second pregnancy and I’m just hoping it’s a live birth for my first baby. Take care and look after yourself. X

So I went into hospital Thursday to have a laparoscopy where they found the baby was growing in my right tube. I was very lucky it hadn’t ruptured as the doctors said it was quite big. The surgery went well and had to remove my right tube but said my left tube looks healthy. So I’m just on the road to recovery now, I’m feeling emotional, lucky that it was found when it was because I generally had been feeling well.
My husband and I had hoped our dates were wrong and that’s why nothing was seen on scan. Little did we ever realise I would suffer from an ectopic pregnancy, as I had no risk factors. I had been feeling generally well but I did say that I had a few aches on my right side but they would come and go.
We wanted to have our first baby so bad and we hoped something would show on scan as we know it happens but my health came first.

That sounds like a hard go physically ans mentally. It's so hard, especially for your first. I am sorry mama. Take the time you need to grieve your little one.

Laurikae thank you so much. I keep thinking to myself that I guess my baby just didn’t want to be born this year. And hopefully when the time is right we will be third time lucky for our first baby.

I’m about 5 wks and 4 days pregnant. Went in for a scan today. Levels have doubled on the past 48 hours to the 6,000s. They were unable to see anything but a tiny sac. They said can be an ectopic or a abnormal pregnancy that won’t grow. It’s so hard and I’m driving myself crazy. Any updates for you ??

Any have happy story endings to a similar situation? I had a miscarriage last year and I’m so nervous I should be about 5 weeks 4 days pregnant. Went for a scan and they saw only a empty tiny sac. Too small to even measure. They mentioned possibly ectopic or a abnormal pregnancy that won’t be viable. They took my blood which was in the 3000’s. 2 later (today) they blood results have doubled but still empty sac. Scheduled to rescan in one week. Doc told me to be prepared to consider D & C

Hey I am in the same boat as most of you. I have had 3 previous misscarges, no successful pregnancies yet. I am pregnant now and I know I ovulated 17th June 2019 I have had two scans that show nothing but my HCG levels are doubling. Today I had a scan and we can now see a sack and possibly a tiny tiny yolk sack. Got to go back in two weeks for another scan. According to calculations I am 6 weeks 1 day and I expected to see more. I just really hope I am to early and all will he fine. It's so worrying and frustrating. Anyone had a scan at 6 weeks and only see a tiny what could be a yolk ? Xxx

Hcg is currently 3500. 3 days ago 2513. My levels have been climbing, but not doubling. 3 days ago, nothing was picked up on scan. My lining was thick but that was all. No bleeding ,no cramps. A few pregnancy symptoms are there(sore nipples, bloating). Dr has no clue what is going on. At all. Should have seen something by now, and nothing is visible. No lie, I'm scared and really confused. Anyone????

First time posting and first time pregnant! I had severe pains on Saturday evening and called NHS 111 on Sunday morning and was given an appointment to see Dr on Sunday 2:25pm. The Dr booked me in for a scan Tuesday 1:45pm. The gynaecologist suspected an ectopic pregnancy - there was a gestational sac present with nothing visible inside it and a second mass in my Fallopian tube. They felt it was a 60% likelihood of being ectopic and they did surgery to remove it this morning. It turned out to be a cyst and I still have the pregnancy thank goodness. I will be discharged tomorrow if all is well. They did say there is still a large chance of MC because of going under general anaesthetic and poking around in there to see what’s going on. Also HCG levels were 2500 but they couldn’t see anything inside the gestational sac.

I new here, but was wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this. We found out about two weeks ago that we were pregnant with our 3rd child. I was 3 days late and took a few pregnancy test that showed faint positives. I even had two that showed negative. On that Sunday I stared bleeding like a normal period. It lasted for 4 days just like my period would. I went to the doctor that Monday and the urine test was negative and my HCG was 30 and my progesterone was 1.7. My ultrasound didn’t show anything. So we waited a week later and retested my HCG bc my doctor was for sure it was be 0. My HCG had went up to 345. Rechecked it in 48 hrs and it was 481 rechecked it and 48 more hrs and it went to 570 and my progesterone went up to 6.7. My doctor said although it’s not a huge increase it’s still a increase. We did another ultrasound today and still didn’t see a sac but he said my numbers aren’t high enough to see one so he is doing another HCG. I’m also taking progesterone now. Has anyone experienced this? We also recently had a miscarriage about 8 months ago. I’m so scared it’s going to happen again.

Hi. On Friday, I was 5 weeks 3 days since LMP.. I had a heavy bleed and went to hospital. They did bloods which showed hcg levels of 8800 and booked me in for a scan on Tuesday. The bleeding eased but has continued since then (now Sunday evenjng).
Anyway, my partner and I couldn't wait until Tuesday for a scan to find out whether I miscarried or not so went for a private scan last night at 5 weeks 4 days since period. The sonographer couldn't see a clear sac. She said she could see an irregular hypoechoic area around 6mm but it wasnt clear enough for her to definitely say I am still pregnant. She did say I have a thick womb lining although some areas show some deterioration.
Has anyone else gone through this and has a successful pregnancy?
We are waiting for another scan on Tuesday to hopefully have some answers. Such a worrying time. Thank you

I am currently going through a similar situation- tv ultrasound at 5 weeks + 4 days and hCG of around 2000 and they weren't sure if they could see a gestational sac or not. My uterus is tilted and I head that some times this makes it harder to measure correctly/ hard to find the sac. I am having another scan in two days with another doctor but I am completely freaking out. Also have a job interview tomorrow but cannot concentrate on anything and am afraid I will just break down crying.

This threat has helped to give me hope but I just can't believe it. Anyone else have any good news to share to make the waiting easier?

And of course I meant thread not threat!

Also, some minor spotting and no major cramps. But also no sore breasts, which makes me worried as well.
