Hi Everyone.

Bascially not been feeling very well, the past week or so. Been feeling sick and had like tummyache and had bad back (sciatica) and far too hot. When other people aren't hot.

Decided to do a pregnancy test. Well did the business so to speak and then got what appeared to be a faint line. The next day, I thought hmmm. Got a pack of those Clearline Digital tests, and did what not on them and got the not pregnant.

I am so confused at the moment, am I arnt I. To be honest I just don't know what to do.

Has anyone else had any experience of this sort of thing and what did you do.

Anita.

When's your period due?

Different pregnancy tests show a positive with different amounts of hormone, so if you're 'newly' pregnant you could get a positive on one (which responds to low levels of the hormone) and a negative on another (which responds only to higher levels).

If you can bear it, wait a few days and do another tests. The pregnancy hormone doubles-ish about every two days, so you should get a clearer answer then.

ANITA135 · 04/07/2012 16:39

That is the thing, I am so irregular, sometimes can go for months without one and then have a month long period. So have no set pattern. I deffo had a period at the end of May, only for like 3 or 4 days. Haven't had one since. The tummyache and things feel like its building up to being on pretty soon.

Had the same thing ..... now 35 weeks pregnant! The clearblue digital do not seem to be as sensitive as some other tests. As i also had positive first response tests and negative digital ones.

WeeDot · 04/07/2012 16:45

I had a piece of advice from a MW who said that you do not get false positives only false negatives.

If one says you are then you are but if one says you are not then you may still be.

I don't know how much truth there is in this but it kinda makes sense, if there is pregnancy hormone then it is there but if there is none you can't get a positive result.

HTH

exexe · 04/07/2012 16:49

I had negative tests with clearblue. Try another as it sounds like you could be.

ANITA135 · 04/07/2012 17:06

Thanks everyone for replying.

exexe - Did you get a negative , and later a positive ?.

I've heard of a few ppl getting the 'not pregnant' from a cb digital after getting a positive on other tests. They're not that sensitive I'd say wait a few days then try again with first morning urine

ANITA135 · 04/07/2012 23:38

I am not sure if I should take my meds or not. On them it says don't take if you are pregnant. Maybe I should just not take them tonight, and get another test tomorrow and check then.

Pinkie29 · 05/07/2012 07:58

What kind of meds are they? If its anti depressants you shouldn't just stop them you need to do it gradually, if you are and see the doc I guess he'd prescribe you something else

ANITA135 · 05/07/2012 08:26

Hi

I think I can still take them , it's my high blood pressure pills that I am worried about. Next available appointment to see anyone at my drs is like end of next week. So a bit stressed out at moment.

Cheekychops84 · 05/07/2012 09:17

yes i got 2 neagatives with clearblue but very faint positives with the cheapy dip stick ones of ebay on the same day . 36 weeks now

exexe · 05/07/2012 10:15

Anita I got 3 negatives up to 2 weeks after af due date. I gave up, thinking there was something wrong with me, made an appointment to have an examination and scan to check then decided to take another test when the smell of coffee started to make me sick and I started feeling nauseous.

That test came up positive and I must have been about 7 weeks.

lizzywig · 05/07/2012 10:48

Don't stop your meds without seeing a doctor. You need to call your dr's reception and explain, tell them that you're pregnant (if when you do another test you get a positive) and that you are on meds, meds which you can't take when pregnant but meds that you can't stop taking to the detriment of your health. They WILL find you an emergency appointment, they keep a few back for these types of things because they have to. If all else fails then the doctor will call you and discuss over the phone. Take another test, the superdrug own brand ones are pretty good and reliable and go from there.

lizzywig · 05/07/2012 10:48

P.s I had 4 negatives before I had a positive result and DD is now 8mo.

ANITA135 · 05/07/2012 14:36

Hi everyone thanks for your replies. Have done another test today. The same make as the first test that showed the faint line. This time there was no line. I guess I am not pregnant after all and the first was an evaporation line or something.

Wow I see why your confused, the first one I would have said you are... Have u done any more or got a docs appoint?Smile

ANITA135 · 05/07/2012 16:53

Hi,

Well the second test, I did was a ClearBlue digital thing that say not pregnant. The first and third test is a superdrug normal test thing. No have not done any more. No to the drs appointment. I looked for appointments, and to see anyone its the end of next week. I just haven't bothered.

I am totally confused. Meant to be going away at the weekend, to a family do and things. The question is do I drink, do I take my meds, I don't know.

OP posts:
exexe · 05/07/2012 16:57

That is confusing!
I suggest you try again (not clear blue) first thing tomorrow morning and go on that?

Pickles77 · 05/07/2012 17:03

When is your period due? I would test again first thing in the morning- they say that's when your hormone level in wee is at its highest and that's why your lots more likely to get a false negative than positive Smile would you be happy if you were? And if u didn't want to drink you could always say your on new mess?

For what it's worth- I don't drink
Much and had been on a few
Medications and few family parties before
I found out I was 21 weeks. If that
Helps at all Smile

ANITA135 · 05/07/2012 17:19

Not sure when its due to be honest, I am that irregular its silly. I know last time I was on was end of May for like 4 days.

The past week or so, have been feeling terrible, tired, feeling sick, tummypains.

Would I be happy if I was, well yes and no. Obviously I do one want, as my clock is ticking away, but on the other hand I feel that it is a really scary thing.

hmmm. At the moment I am just so confused.

Anita.

I know how u feel, I get terrified sometimes Smile I'd defo get a test tonight for the
Morning :)
You sound so contentious and concerned about if you are pg, that you sound like you'd be a great mum.!

ANITA135 · 05/07/2012 20:14

I told my man the news about no line on the test this time and all what he said oh you are not pregnant then. I mentioned about finding test cheaper elsewhere all what he could say is you don't need then.

I said oh what about my meds and drink and all what he can say is it's your body , you do what you do. Not very helpful as that makes me feel alone :( .

gnocci · 05/07/2012 21:05

I got a faint line and a "not pregnant" on a digital for a a good few days until the digital finally said "pregnant" !!! Superdrug is the most sensitive line test. Clear blue digi are notoriously slow for showing a positive.
