Hi Everyone.

Bascially not been feeling very well, the past week or so. Been feeling sick and had like tummyache and had bad back (sciatica) and far too hot. When other people aren't hot.

Decided to do a pregnancy test. Well did the business so to speak and then got what appeared to be a faint line. The next day, I thought hmmm. Got a pack of those Clearline Digital tests, and did what not on them and got the not pregnant.

I am so confused at the moment, am I arnt I. To be honest I just don't know what to do.

Has anyone else had any experience of this sort of thing and what did you do.

Anita.

I think there are some (limited list) of drugs that may cross-react with a pg test & some conditions/illnesses that cause a positive pg test but these are quite rare. Usually a line is a line is pregnant.

There are a few rules to follow to make sure you get a strong result on a test;

  1. buy an early test one (like superdrug early or first response) BUT don't test until you've missed AF
  2. use the first morning pee
  3. collect it in a cup & dip as per instructions
  4. leave for the instructed time BUT not too long/longer than it says.

Good luck Grin

That is not a very faint line this morning, to my mind that is a clear positive result, the sort of line you might get a day or two before a period is due. I had some lines even lighter than that and he is now having a nap in his sling. I suspect in a couple of days, digital tests will start giving you positive results too. If you have not had a period within the next few days I would get back to the doctors. Superdrug tests have darker dye so it is easier to see the line and they are very sensitive too.

thebabywife · 06/07/2012 15:25

You are pregnant lovely - there is no denying that test line this morning

CB digis can sometimes need more hormone than normal tests to get a positive result on them

I would get a first response early response, and it will show a very clear line I think - a line is a line, and you are pregnant :)

seven77 · 06/07/2012 15:50

That is certainly not a faint line, congratulations!

lauraloo09 · 06/07/2012 15:56

Elkieb · 06/07/2012 16:01

uselesslife · 06/07/2012 16:40

you're pregnant, I bet

uselesslife · 06/07/2012 16:41

someone else this week did a doc's test and it was negative, then blood test and positive

seven77 · 06/07/2012 18:01

If this mornings test was first morning wee that would it explain why it was positive and doctors one wasn't. Surely even your doctor must have known that Hmm

ANITA135 · 06/07/2012 18:47

Just don't know anymore . So confused , oh well . Have to wait and try again . Thanks for listening to me ranting.

Hi everyone

A quick question , had any of you felt hot in the early weeks of pregnancy , when others around you haven't . I mean kind of sweaty hot kind of thing. Sorry TMI . Also has anyone had a faint line and not pregnant?

OP posts:
xkatyx · 06/07/2012 21:03

Hi, yes very hot!! Infact I was told that a rise in temp (if charting) is a sign of pregnancy!
I had what you are explaining faint lines, then no lines, few faint lines and negatives at doctors!!! I spent a fortune on tests!!

My like never got darker!! Also I eventually got a "pregnant" on digital but I started bleeding that night!! I had a chemical pregnant!!!

But in my successful pregnancies I didn't get "pregnant" on digital for ages like a week or so free period due!! They aren't very sensitive!! And your line you have is prob darker than any of mine!! I know how stressful it is!! My doctor always said if you got a positive then you are pregnant , you should be sent to early pregnancy and have bloods done!!! I had very faint lines .. My hormones weren't doubling .. Turned out it was twins :) there 6 months old!!

thebabywife · 06/07/2012 22:28

The tests that gp use only pick up hormones at 50 miu, whereas superdrug and first response pick up at 25/30 miu. Test again in the morning - bet you it will be an even darker line

gnocci · 06/07/2012 22:33

I think superdrug is 10 or 15 actually - very very sensitive and the best you can buy on the high st :)

gnocci · 06/07/2012 22:34

Just looked at you pic - you are definitely pregnant!!!!!

ANITA135 · 07/07/2012 00:06

I'm amazed your doctor is arguing to be honest. They usually (well my docs anyway) just accept that your pregnant if you've had a positive result. Each time I've just told my doc I'm pregnant and they've referred me to midwife. My understanding was that over the counter tests are so reliable now that docs don't need to double check - let's face it from their point of view if you're pregnant they've started the ball rolling and done what they're meant to and if you're not, well you'll find out soon enough anyway. If i was you I'd take another test, 1st thing in the morning maybe after the weekend and then if you still get a line (which you probably will) are you able to contact your local midwives yourself? Their number should be on the website for your local NHS Trust.

ANITA135 · 07/07/2012 10:23

Aww thanks for your replies. I think my man and I are having a bit of a disagreement , as I think I am pg and he says I'm not. Cos I just feel so rough, feeling sick day and night and thinks. Mind he said oh you only get morning sickness in the mornings, well I think that is an old wives tale. You get it any time of day. At end of day he is a man I guess. Lol

If I am not pregnant , need to find out what is causing me to feel so unwell. Hmmmm .

Sorry for going on and thanks for reading my posts.

Anita

You get morning sickness any time of the day. Pregnancy tests detect a hormone in your wee that you only produce when you're pregnant. If there was a line

seven77 · 07/07/2012 11:34

on your test within 10 minutes you definitely ARE pregnant! Test in the morning with first morning wee, I guarantee it'll be positive.
