Hi Everyone.

Bascially not been feeling very well, the past week or so. Been feeling sick and had like tummyache and had bad back (sciatica) and far too hot. When other people aren't hot.

Decided to do a pregnancy test. Well did the business so to speak and then got what appeared to be a faint line. The next day, I thought hmmm. Got a pack of those Clearline Digital tests, and did what not on them and got the not pregnant.

I am so confused at the moment, am I arnt I. To be honest I just don't know what to do.

Has anyone else had any experience of this sort of thing and what did you do.

Anita.

Do another test - you are pregnant, and tell your OH that morning sickness can be 24/7.....not just in the morning!

I had the faintest of faint lines when I first found out - so much so I nearly didn't believe it, yours are a million times darker than mine were for a start

ANITA135 · 07/07/2012 20:04

Thanks everyone for your advice and basically for listening to me .

You are totally pregnant! It is possible to have some faint positives and then they go negative after a few days and your period starts. If that happens you were pregnant but the pregnancy ended very early (i.e. a v. early miscarriage, sometimes called a "chemical pregnancy"). But those are Superdrug tests you've got positive results from aren't they? And they are the most sensitive available on the high street, much more sensitive than first response/digi tests etc, and about as sensitive as the cheap super-sensitive ones you can buy on the internet. Because they are so sensitive they will show a positive before the other tests while your hormone level is still low.

Unfortunately "morning" sickness is a stupid name. It can be any time of day or all day. I am still throwing up every day at 18 weeks pregnant but hopefully you won't be! Being hot, bright pink and queasy were my very first symptoms.

I think it is normal for men to be slow to believe it, my DP wanted to wait a while to be sure too. They can't feel all the odd stuff you can.

Hmmmm thanks again :) for replying and things.

Are you going to take another test tomorrow morning? It took weeks for a test to show when I was pregnant!

ANITA135 · 08/07/2012 13:25

I am away at the moment, not at home . I will take one next week . Not sure when though .

Oh yes and "morning" sickness is such a fallacy. I had "evening" sickness with DS and "all day" sickness with DD!

ANITA135 · 08/07/2012 14:38

What do you guys take for backache , been having problems with sciatica for a while and I normally take paracetamol and ibrophren , soz not sure how to spell that. I read the instructions and you are not meant to take ibrophren within first 3 months of pregnancy or something . Hmmm

OP posts:
kalidasa · 08/07/2012 15:52

Paracetamol is OK. You are meant to avoid aspirin especially in the first trimester. For really bad pain, cocodamol is OK, I checked with my GP (for migraine in my case); but only occasionally if you really need it.

Tried some champagne and no couldn't drink it , something is deffo a miss.

well you sound very pregnant to me! I would say wait a few days and test again, to make sure, but I saw you said you were on meds which are not safe for use in pregnancy. So you should go back to the Dr's tomorrow, ask to see a different doctor, and tell them you ARE pregnant and ask what to do about your meds.

ANITA135 · 09/07/2012 18:49

Well I have taken another test , well sainsburys own brand one and that said not pregnant. May be I'm not oh we'll. I am going to try not to think about it too much as I'm becoming a bit obsessive . Still feel sick, tired and thinks. Thanks for your help and things and listening me complain and that.

OP posts:
Chunkychicken · 09/07/2012 18:52

Sainsburys are notoriously bad!!! Don't use a cross style one, they are so difficult to see/read properly, even if its a fairly definite answer sometimes. Honestly, if you can get a Superdrug, Wilkinson or First Response, they are sensitive and reliable and you can be certain one way or another.

ANITA135 · 09/07/2012 18:59

I only went to sainsburys , that is why I got that one . Nevermind .

Your 1st and 3rd pic defo look positive, I tested after only 2 or 3 days late and had a really faint line that I had to hold up to the light to see, then a few days later I had a really dark line on a first response and it came up really quick too, I'm currently 11 wks. Congratulations I'm pretty sure you are x

mrsbugsywugsy · 09/07/2012 19:27

when did you do the sainsbury's test? You are supposed to use your first wee of the day, otherwise it might be too dilute

ANITA135 · 09/07/2012 19:30

3pm just couldn't wait I guess , but didn't have that many drinks throughout the day before hand.

ANITA135 · 10/07/2012 11:16

Well got some more tests from superdrug. My man is going to kill me for spending all this money on tests.

OP posts:
mrsbugsywugsy · 10/07/2012 12:19

well wait till tomorrow morning and test again, using your first wee of the day. And let us know how you get on. My money's on a positive Smile

If your man thinks tests are expensive, wait till you start having to buy baby stuff Grin

Chunkychicken · 10/07/2012 14:15

And even with your first wee, make sure you collect it & dip the stick, rather than pee directly onto it, as its easy to 'miss' or overwater it that way.

Good luck!!

CrazyRandomHappenstance · 10/07/2012 14:24

"Mind he said oh you only get morning sickness in the mornings" god i wish that was true i was sick 24hrs a day with DD1, with DD2 it was only at night Hmm, hope your okay OP good luck with next test, i know someone who has never had a positive test and has 3 DDs

HaitchJay · 10/07/2012 14:43

I get the cheap ones from eBay, quite sensitive & abou£2 for 10.

Good luck but I think you are pregnant anyway

Pickles77 · 11/07/2012 10:43

Any news? Smile

ANITA135 · 11/07/2012 10:46

Maybe I'm not pregnant after all . I did a test this morning, as soon as I got up. A superdrug normal test and no line showed up.

I just don't get it really , why did I get lines before and not today. So, so confused . Thanks for listening and me go on.

OP posts:
mrsbugsywugsy · 11/07/2012 12:43

Hmm, curious.

There are two possibilities I can think of - the test this morning could have been less sensitive (so you are pregnant), or you could have had a very early miscarriage, where the embryo doesn't implant.

If I was you I would continue to take folic acid (as it doesn't hurt to take if you're not pregnant), and test again in a couple of days.
