Hi Everyone.

Bascially not been feeling very well, the past week or so. Been feeling sick and had like tummyache and had bad back (sciatica) and far too hot. When other people aren't hot.

Decided to do a pregnancy test. Well did the business so to speak and then got what appeared to be a faint line. The next day, I thought hmmm. Got a pack of those Clearline Digital tests, and did what not on them and got the not pregnant.

I am so confused at the moment, am I arnt I. To be honest I just don't know what to do.

Has anyone else had any experience of this sort of thing and what did you do.

Anita.

Still feeling sick etc , no bleeding yet.

Just found out today that my sympathetic gp, who I trust has retired. Not really sure on the other drs.

Just done a superdrug test this morning and no line. I am guessing when I got lines before it was a faulty batch or something . I really don't know.

Anita I think it is likely that you are having a 'chemical' pregnancy - an early miscarriage. This means that you had conceived (which is why you got a couple of positive tests) but the pregnancy failed very early on. You probably never released enough of the pregnancy hormone to test positive on the less sensitive tests. If this is what has happened, your body will realise at some point in the next few days and you'll get a period, which might be a bit heavier/more painful than normal (but might not be).

This has happened to me a couple of times, and you're more likely to notice it happening if you use v. sensitive tests like the superdrug ones. It doesn't mean anything is wrong with you, it is really really common. Some doctors think as many as half of all conceptions don't work out in the first couple of weeks, so you may not even realise you had conceived.

Can you get a chemical pregnancy and not have any bleeding.

If it's a chemical pregnancy/early miscarriage the bleeding will start eventually, but it can be a good few days after the tests turn negative. It can take a little while for your body to notice that the pregnancy has failed and for the hormones to drop completely. If this is what is happening to you, the bleeding will start at some point in the next few days I should think. The bleeding is really the last thing that happens. Sorry you're in this limbo, it's horrible waiting to be sure.

It's rare, but you might be like me. With dd I got a positive at 6 weeks, but not before. With this pg I got negative tests, then a negative blood test (it said less than 2 for HCG when it should be in the thousands).

Then finally I got a positive test. When I went for my dating scan it turned out I was 12 weeks and the blood test must have been at six weeks.

Aww thanks for replying . Think I may just make an appointment and say about the symptoms I have been getting .

Just an update really. Been to and forth to the drs, had various blood tests (4 vials) worth. The blood tests came clear, had another pg test done at the drs(Monday 6th August) which is negative. Well all the trouble I have been having, the feeling tired, very sick, tummy pains. Well it points to a water infection, hmmm. I am on a course of antibiotics, hopefully this will help my problem out.

She can't really say why I got a faint line on the pg tests I did at home, perhaps I am that .01% and it was a false reading or what not.

Sorry for being such a drama queen. Yes im still not feeling very well, just waiting for the antibiotics to finally kick in.

Thanks for the advice and listening to me.
