DizzyKipper · 20/06/2012 05:32

Congratulations McKayz Grin

I had a weird popping sensation inside my bump last night, just before 8pm. It felt like a little explosion went off in there. Twas hoping it was my waters breaking, put a maternity pad in but had absolutely no leaking during the night whatsoever. However woke up about 4am and every now and then have had very sharp, period like cramps down below. But they seem to be coming too regularly at the moment, I haven't timed them and they only last 5-10s but seem to be about every 5 - 10mins. Surely if this was labour they're too regular too soon? I have a habit of getting myself at it and making myself think things are happening when they're not, so trying my best not to get too excited at the moment and stay calm.

shellywellybaby1 · 20/06/2012 05:37

I definitely think its your turn McPhee!! But ooo Dizzy u never know!!! Only time will tell. I am glad people are awake anyway... Have been wide awake since 2am. Just got up n made poached egg on toast... And oh yeh it was runny... Mmmm!!! :-)

DizzyKipper · 20/06/2012 05:40

I've been daydreaming about the slice of madeira cake that DH hasn't eaten yet, and all it's lovely creamy icing goodness. But I must be strong and not eat it, I've held off from eating it for the last 2 days (whilst he leaves it on the side to taunt me!), I just must ensure he eats it today.

DizzyKipper · 20/06/2012 05:40

*its

shellywellybaby1 · 20/06/2012 05:43

Sod that!! Get it eaten. If u go into labour u will need it for your strength!!! Surely he wouldnt deprive his heavily pregnant lady a slice of cake?? Hahaha!!

DizzyKipper · 20/06/2012 05:44

hehe Well if it becomes established that I'm in labour I'll start angling for the cake... I just have a habit of eating his goodies a bit too often (mainly because he always leaves them and leaves them, and sometimes they go bad if I don't eat them!)

DizzyKipper · 20/06/2012 06:45

Ok been timing them, they're about every 10mins apart and lasting between 10 and 20s. Sorry for tmi but also had 2 lots of loose bowels (when I've been pretty constipated for the last few weeks). Going to ring the on call midwife at 8am for some advice and to see whether it's worth keeping DH home from work for the day (if he stayed home but it wasn't labour he'd have to make up the hours, so not ideal for him to not go in unless something is really happening). Now to wait for 8am...

McPhee · 20/06/2012 08:31

Any news DizzyKipper?

McKayz · 20/06/2012 08:45

Dizzy hope it's all systems go!! Eat that cake!!

Mcphee hope the sweep works!!

I am shattered. She's absolutely perfect!!

The boys are off to school and DD(Grin) is asleep so I'm going to try and sleep now.

DizzyKipper · 20/06/2012 09:38

Midwife says it does sound like early labour, she's coming round mid-morning to check me out and hopefully confirm. Still having pains about every 10mins. DH has stayed home and we've just tidied up a bit (and eaten the cake between us Grin) in preparation for the midwife.

shellywellybaby1 · 20/06/2012 10:31

Eeeee Dizzy so exciting!! Keep us posted. Glad u got some of the cake!!! Hehe!!

sewingandcakes · 20/06/2012 11:21

Congratulations McKayz, all the waiting was worth it!

Good luck Dizzykipper, hope things keep going!

I had a few proper contractions and a show this morning; things stopped when I started moving around though. I've finally reached a calm state where I know the baby will either come by himself today, or by induction tomorrow. Going to relax and enjoy reading and the lovely sunshine we have here today :)

jessebuni · 20/06/2012 12:06

Congratulations McKayz the long wait is finally over! 6.5! Sooooo tiny!!! I kinda wish my first was that small because they grow so fast! My son was 8lbs2.5ounces lol

Good Luck Dizzy I'm sooooo jealous! Got my 4th sweep tomorrow and if that doesn't work or if she can't tell me that I've at least made some progress I'm going to just burst into tears! After going into labour the day before my due date with my first being over a week overdue this time is just plain torture!!! And I am sooooo sick of all the phone calls and messages and emails etc all asking me if there's any sign of the baby yet. Seriously don't people understand that when something DOES happen they'll know?!

DizzyKipper · 20/06/2012 15:03

Thanks all, thought I'd just update quickly as the midwife has just been round. She did an examination and confirmed that my cervix is thinning out though not yet dilated and we're in early labour Smile. She also spotted me having a contraction before I said anything, which is good because part of me's paranoid that I'm getting it wrong and I'm not actually in labour. So just to keep telling myself "this isn't false, it is labour" and to see what happens.

rrrayray · 20/06/2012 15:10

Hi all

Induction started this morning. Already 3cm so just broke waters. Not at all painful but even midwife laughed at how much waters I have. Still gushing out now when I move.

Only had mild cramps
7 mins apart
And waters been broken 5 hours so I fear the drip is near!!! Sad

jessebuni · 20/06/2012 16:18

rrrayray are you allowed to get up and move around? moving around lots really helps keep things going at a good pace!

dizzy lucky you! definitely in labour so not long now!

sewingandcakes · 20/06/2012 16:42

rrrayray hope things progress well, you'll have your little one soon! I'm going to be going through the same thing tomorrow so it's good to be hearing about what happens.

It'll be a race against time to get my one born before ds2's 5th birthday on Friday!

Fingers crossed for you, Dizzykipper, keep upright and moving etc etc......

jessebuni · 20/06/2012 20:16

i keep checking back to see if there's any more news! but there isn't at the mo....then again I guess women in labour generally have better things to do then post updates on it every step of the way.

i just went for a very painful long walk to try and convince this one to come out but i doubt it'll do anything. at least it relieved some stress after a bunch of young lads were laughing and pointing out their car windows shouting "waddle waddle" and "fatty" at me and i lobbed my water bottle at them....not that i'm condoning violence in any way but it made me feel much better i've been itching to hit someone for days! aw well sweep no 4 tomorrow so fingers crossed.
