VIX1980 · 16/06/2012 09:49

Congratulations to all the new babies, ive been lurking for a while and havent wanted to tempt fate in anyway, but now im seriously sick of being pregnant, im 40 weeks on monday, this baby is coming out before then if i have my way, i cant sleep, cant get comfy - dont know why im telling you lot were all in the same boat!!

please someone tell me sex works, ive managed to persuade my oh that we must have some soon, after 6 months of being terrified to even let him come near me, but ive heard it works and willing to try it cos nothing else has worked!

DairyNips · 16/06/2012 10:57

Hey VIX I don't know if sex works but I had some night time cramping after we tried it. That was the day I had my sweep too though so hard to tellHmm

DairyNips · 16/06/2012 14:32

Midwife app went ok. She said baby has moved down a bit so 3 5ths of his head is engaged now (written as 2/5 in my notes as I think they count how much is above the pelvis). I'm closer to 4cm dialated now. Just have to wait and see if the sweep works I guess..

McKayz · 16/06/2012 14:44

I need this baby out now! I've run out of gaviscon and it's absolutely chucking it down.

DairyNips · 16/06/2012 14:47

Oh no! Maybe a glass of milk will help?

McKayz · 16/06/2012 15:00

I hate milk Sad but I can drink it in tea. So will give that a go.

DairyNips · 16/06/2012 15:04

Oh no, yeah, maybe milky tea..

StarlightWithAsteroid · 16/06/2012 15:04

Refreshers, love hearts, palma violets etc. make good substitutes for Rennies as they are also calcium and magnesium.

DairyNips · 16/06/2012 15:07

Good idea StarSmile

McKayz · 16/06/2012 15:13

Star I love your name!

I think my Mum will grab me some. They've still got the boys so can drop it off when they come home.

I'm sat on the ball watching tv in the hope it starts something.

JBurge · 16/06/2012 20:09

Hi All

Sorry I've off the radar for a while, been a bit busy!

Cameron Stanley was born on Thursday after a 42 hour labour! I won't go into details but I will say that it was worth every minute and once it's done it's done!

Wishing you all lots of good labour vibes!!

Burge and baby Burge! X

DairyNips · 16/06/2012 20:36

Massive congratulations JBurgeGrin Lovely nameSmile Wow at the length of labour, well done!

Just had 4 contractions that were 5 mins apart.. Hoping they continue although now I've written that they probably won't Grin

justwantcheese · 16/06/2012 21:07

Congratulations burge well done.
Im slightly paranoid today, 2 different friends have bother guessed my weight at between 15.5and 16 stone which is a bit off putting since I started off at 9.5 stone. I ve just weighed myself at 12.5. I must really look massive or my scales are miles out! Come on baby this is getting ridiculous!

sewingandcakes · 16/06/2012 21:11

Congratulations JBurge, and fingers crossed for everyone else that something will happen soon!

rrrayray · 16/06/2012 21:41

Congrats Burge.

Dairy - sending labour vibes. Hope this is your time.

Nothing much new here. Lack
Of movement today so had ctg which was fine. X

DairyNips · 16/06/2012 22:26

So, once again I was having contractions, they got to every 5 minutes and strong. I was gonna call pils and the hosp then they just stopped 40 mins ago :-( why does my body keep doing this? I'm actually going insane now.

rrray Glad the ctg was okSmile

JBurge · 17/06/2012 01:44

The only piece of advice I can give you regarding the contractions and keeping them going is that you have to stay really focused, this is where my Hypnobirthing really paid off. I found that watching tv, going on Internet, etc just distracted me and slowed everything down. However sitting or standing somewhere quietly and practising my relaxation techniques and breathing techniques really got them going and becoming more regular.

DairyNips · 17/06/2012 02:44

Thanks JBurge I seem to get them most when just laying in bed. Been having really strong ones every 10 mins since I came to bed. Managed to snooze a bit in between, just took some paracetamol to try and take the edge off a bit as they're getting painful.

DairyNips · 17/06/2012 08:26

Rang hosp at 3.15am about going in but they said contractions still a little spaced out. They said I was free to go in if I wanted but if not in established labour when I got there they would just send me home. Problem was they were quite spaced out but really quite painfulSad Anyway, I said I would wait a while and call back but then they became even further apart do I just went back to bed in the hope of some rest. Carried on getting them whilst I slept at totally random intervals but did get some sleep at least. Took my 2nd lot of paracetamol a while ago. Have disappeared for nowHmm Honestly, I give up!

StarlightWithAsteroid · 17/06/2012 08:39

Oh Dairy,

What position do you take up when they are more intense? I mean, coukd they be simply trying to get baby into correct position.

When mine came at first I ran a bath then lay on my front for almost 2 hours as belly coukd kind of float but ensure baby was facing right way.

I'm sure your body knows what it doing.

JBurge · 17/06/2012 09:45

Dairy, I was sent home the first time I went in. They were coming three within 10 mins, but they weren't nearly strong enough and I was only 1cm! It's so annoying, just try and relax, have a bath and put some music on, have a good sing song!

DairyNips · 17/06/2012 10:43

Thanks ladies Smile

Star what is strange is they keep starting off when I'm laying on my side in bed. If they come and go for a while I usually sit up or get on my ball or sit upright on the sofa. Instead of helping though this usually slows or stops themConfused I like to be mobile in labour, first labour I spent on all fours leaning over my ball and second I spent most of it sat on my ball. I don't know how I'm gonna get to hosp if they keep buggering off whenever I get upright, surely the gravity would help but it seems not!
When I saw the midwife yesterday she said baby was Ceph and engaged and ready to go, I just don't understandConfused
The contractions are deffo doing something as I keep getting loads of mucus but I just wish they'd stay..

StarlightWithAsteroid · 17/06/2012 11:06

Perhaps baby needs to turn a bit more before descending?

Can you cope with lying left for a couple of hours?

DairyNips · 17/06/2012 11:29

Yeah, we'll I kinda have kept going back to laying down eventually. I just had a bit more sleep for a few hours but didn't have any in that time. When I woke at 10.30 I got one then came down for breakfast and had one at 11.10 and then 11.20.. They're a little less painful at the mo, due more paracetamol but I think I'll see how it goes..

jessebuni · 17/06/2012 14:17

Oh how exciting hopefully things progress and this is it for you Dairy!

I had my second sweep on Thursday and nothing happened, then another about two hours ago my third and I'm still only 1-2cm and my cervix is still really far back (which means her struggling to reach it hook it and walk it forward to perform a sweep which is bloody uncomfortable).

If this one also doesn't work which she said not to get my hopes up because my cervix is still thick and far back (despite the copious amounts of sex and EPO to try and help it along). As soon as she left I just burst into tears! There's nothing more to do but wait and wait and wait!
