Feeling v sorry for myself today, last night I had a trapped nerve in my shoulder blade, had it twice with ds2 and is the worst pain/feeling. Can't believe it's happened again, felt it go again this morning but luckily (as it was b4 the school run) it disappeared as quickly as it came, arm has felt weak all day :( tried to go to the chiropractor but he didn't have any free appts.
So scared now it's going to keep happening I literally feel sick when it happens and lasts for 10 mins so. Anyone else had this?

therumoursaretrue · 25/04/2012 23:16

Just checking in, I've been pretty absent from this thread for a while. Things are tough here and don't want to lower the mood! Also think admitting how stressed I am makes everything seem more real if that makes any sense.

Will read back to have a nosey at everyone's pushchair choices for some inspiration (and cause I'm nosey!) I have narrowed it down to a couple I think but need a proper think before we go forking out so much money!

hamncheese · 26/04/2012 08:03

Helloo

That trapped nerve sounds awful tashaw :(

To all who have had cramp before... I totally did not understand your pain until last night when I must have bent my leg oddly in my sleep because I awoke in excruciating pain in my calf muscle. My god I never realised all those times DH was writhing about on the floor holding onto his foot that he wasn't being dramatic!! I scared the shit out of him too as he awoke to his pregnant wife screaming in agony in the middle of the night Blush I couldn't even speak to tell him it wasn't bump just cramp though it was that sore ha! So yes, I now feel your pain and I can only hope that labour isn't as bad as that (though I get the feeling it will be :/ )

Now for a small rant...

Is anyone else getting really really fed up of being told to take it easy? And not in a "just you put your feet up" kind of way but in a "are you sure you should be doing that" way. My aunt called recently asking if DH and I could feed her cat for one day when she was away. I said DH was in london but I had the car so could no problem to which she said "oh... but if it's only you..." dubiously. So I asked just what it was that made me unable to do this to which she told me of her stairs. I CLIMB DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF STAIRS TO HER HOUSE GETTING IN AND OUT OF MY FLAT EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! And then she was worried about me driving 15 miles to her house. WTF??? Anyway that bugged me and I told her I was just fine (smile and nod through clenched teeth) and then yesterday I got a text from my MIL asking how I was and about a viewing we were having I told her the viewing wasn't til that night and that I was just going to clean the house in preparation for it and she replied "don't over do it". I know this is coming from a good place but seriously I'm not allowed to do the washing up anymore? Should I just let the house turn into a craphole and sit on my bum all day as I am pregnant? And then wonder why I'm depressed and severely overweight in 3 months time? Ahardhdlkhdslkdslkdsdhjk. And the only thing worse than this is when I bitch about this to people I think should understand - Mum and DH - I get told, "oh they mean well". I don't care! I just want to rant it out so I don't get angry next time someone tells me I can't carry my handbag to the shops.

Ok rant over, apologies but I'm guessing you lovely folks will be the only ones to understand at the moment! :)

panpipe · 26/04/2012 09:22

Hi rumours; hope everything's ok.

ham definitely with you with the taking it easy! I get this at work fairly often and while it's great that they're all concerned - I'm sure many people have colleagues a lot less sympathetic - I'm quite happy to do what I can when I can without getting "you're looking pale", "are you sure you're ok to stand for half an hour and do that?", "get someone else to do that for you". At this rate I'm not going to be able to lift baby when it arrives since I'm getting weaker by the day not being allowed to do things!

I've been feeling rotten most of this week so far; nausea appearing again and some slight intermittend pelvic pain, on top of that Tuesday night baby seemed to have transformed into a herd of centipedes and felt like it was giving me a proper kicking in 7 different places at once - just as I was ready to go to bed of course. I should be going to my Daisy Birthing class tonight and would look forward to a chillout but I have to work late :( Might try a couple of exercises myself when I get home.

Do any of you get the NCT weekly development emails? 25w for me this week and apparently in the next 6 weeks baby's meant to put on half its weight again Shock

NeedlesCuties · 26/04/2012 09:51

hamncheese I am Envy. Only people who have said things like that to me are those I don't know so well: in church I've been told to not shift chairs as I'm pregnant and yesterday in Tesco the lady behind the counter asked me if I was okay lifting a 'Bag for Life' filled with bottles and tins. I know she was being sweet, but I had my toddler with me who weighs almost 3 stone and whom I spend a large portion of my day lifting and shifting. I told her I was ok.

In terms of people close to me saying things like that, forget it! Even when discharged from hospital after the bout of hyperemesis I didn't have any of those concerns from people.

Strangely I think I can recall during my 1st pregnancy that people were a lot more considerate and willing to help.

Sorry for the rant, but I needed it!

(22+6)

PoppyS34wantssleep · 26/04/2012 10:21

So many posts :o I will read through them all. Hope everyone is doing ok..?

Had a check up and scan earlier in the week (post PP hospital episode) and everything is looking good so far, which I'm very pleased about. Placenta has moved a minute about, but it's moving so the indications are positive - yay! :) Bump also seems to be doing well, and measuring ok. phew.

ham I completley understand where you're coming from, and rant away, it's what we're here for :o but I'm am Envy, like Needles I'm generally quite independent and stubborn and tend to over do things and actually need people to say - stop doing that, and checking to see if I'm ok (especially at the moment) otherwise I'll just carry on without realising it, but they don't really say anything to me... It's only very recently that my DP has actually realised this and tells me to sit down (before I fall down).

Needles you have my sympathy, the day after I got out of hosp, I had to trek to the shops to get food as there was nothing in at all Angry it was one of the lows of the last 26wks, so much so I burst into tears outside Boots in the shopping centre. Blush

Tash hope your shoulder has sorted itself out? :(

faintpinkline · 26/04/2012 10:44

Tash hope your shoulder is better soon. That sounds miserable.

I'm also getting told not to lift things. DD very kindly carried my handbag this morning because she thinks the extra weight is a bit much really mummy Grin

Feeling really down today for no apparent reason. I'm now 25+1 and the idea of another 15 weeks or so just seems so far to go and so much to do. I had a glass of water this morning and it came strait back up again and I keep getting stomach cramps and dizziness. Funnily enough also permanently hungry. Just want to lie down and shut the world out with with work being busy, dp being away and dd needing me can't do that (should be working now)

Finally nasty subject but have to ask - is anyone finding their bowel movements have changed? I used to go every morning regularly at 7.45am - you could almost set your clock by it. Now I'm going every 2-3 days and doing the most enormous poos in the world - getting this mornings out rather reminded me of pushing dd in to the world and it lay in the toilet bowl looking huge and malevolent (seriously I think it was as thick as my wrist)

MrsMigginslovespies · 26/04/2012 11:40

Ham, wow, I so share your rant! It's driving me mad! I'm pregnant, not ill. I know not to lift heavy heavy weights. I know not to climb on chairs. I know not to do a lot of stuff. But I can clean the kitchen, walk the dog, drive, have a life and go shopping. It's also driving me mad too! I'm desperate to make a start on clearing out the soon to be nursery as DH v busy, plus am in super-nesting mode, but don't need myDMum and everyone else to tell me to put my feet up and have a nap. It won't get done by itself, plus am enjoying it. Grrr.

On the plus side, am off to the Baby show tomorrow and and sadly excited about it all!

Hope everyone is faring ok in this grim weather. Tash, is the shoulder ok now? I've trapped a nerve from time to time in my neck and it's vile. Literally sick-making. And so sudden.

Faint, can't say afraid I've noticed too much difference, but hope you feel better soon...lactulose is meant to be good and safe to take if you need to go more regularly.

Is anyone else perplexed at maternity leggings or is that just me? On me, they're super long for some reason and bag at the ankles. Look terrible.

Happy Thursday all, keep your spirits up where possible. x

geekette · 26/04/2012 14:42

ham I am definitely fed up with the "put your feet up" attitude. I volunteer on weekends and they now give me so much stress I feel like quitting! Most of what we do is sit around and wait for something to happen. They now ask if i can SIT for that long????

faint I had that in the first few weeks, I cannot advocate oranges and prunes enough. Cook with Prunes and have an oranage every night before bed. sorted me out. And I hate lactulose... I still have it in the fridge, just in case, but I pray i never have to even see the bottle again.

Off for a nap and maybe I'll try some very light exercise afterwards (feeling guilty after downing a quarter tub of philadelphia...)

warzonemummy · 26/04/2012 14:55

ham I am sick of being told what to do. Recently an 18 year old (no offence intended to teenager except this silly one) who had a baby 2 weeks ago told me off for wearing a bump band claiming that the band was stopping my baby from growing properly. She gave birth to a 4 kilos 400 grams baby so she thinks she is somehow qualified to give advise. Others have been telling me that working normal hours was going to make my baby ill or that bending down was going to do something evil to my baby.

Faint I have the opposite problem, I have diarrhoea since last week. First I thought I had eaten something bad but then realised this is the new me. It is really annoying because I have to plan my meetings around toilet breaks every hour. the joys!!! I am dead scared of constipation so the first thing I did when I got my BFP I bought huge amounts of bottled water and forced myself to drink at least 3 litres a day. I live in fruits so that helps too. Didn't predict the opposite problem.

MrsMiggin, I find it the opposite, leggings for once fit me. I am really short too. I have lived in long dresses and leggings for few weeks now. I even sleep in them. I find the under the bump trousers really uncomfortable and maternity tights are even worse, somehow they all feel twisted on my bump.

capecath in my local hospital they have a space where people can have a bit relaxed type of birth. I will check the procedure for giving birth there. I should email them I think. I just don't like too much light so as long as they can give me that I am okay with no candles rule. I'll take my own aromatherapy stuff. my sister I am sure can do the massages.

Since I am not actually in the UK I am finding it really hard to figure out if my pregnancy is within "normal" range. One issue is particularly bothering me is my weight gain. I have gained 13 pounds so far and I am 25 weeks 5 days now. I was on the higher end of normal BMI before pregnancy. The Afghanistan doctors (!) tell me that I have not put on enough. However, the Dubai doctor told me that I have put on massive amounts. How much should one out on by now? Help.

OMG, written so much. I do apologise.

P.S. What's everyone having for dinner?

capecath · 26/04/2012 15:25

warzonemummy I was concerned about my weight gain but found this tool to be useful: www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html

Dinner tonight - pizza!! :D

Vinolover · 26/04/2012 15:40

I have put on more weight than you warzone but then my bmi was only 19 when I got pregnant. I think I have put on about 16lbs and I'm 24+5. I also think now is the time to step away from the scales because even though putting on weight is for a very worthwhile cause, it's still depressing seeing the amount go up each time.

ham I too am Envy at your rant lol. I can appreciate how annoying it must be though. I do a 7hr strait shift a couple of times a week and I'm on my feet the whole time and I would love for my husband (or anyone) to tell me to sit down and put my feet up. Ah well.

This water retention is driving me mad today! I have barely had a wee all yesterday and today and I now feel like the michelin man! I've been drinking loads of water etc but it just won't come away :(

Dinner tonight is a chicken caesar salad :). I can't wait!!! Yummy

faintpinkline · 26/04/2012 16:33

My lovely midwife just phone to say that I don't have a UTI but she's slightly concerned I had protein in urine so could I leave her another sample at surgery for testing on Monday. She thinks its probably nothing but she prefers to be cautious.

She's told me to stop drinking cold water for now as I keep throwing it up and to have either herbal tea or luke warm water and then try again in a few days

alisonmcg · 26/04/2012 17:18

Hello!

Thanks again for the advice everyone gave me about working part time during maternity leave. I'm still going to give it some thought but have spoken to my dad about it again and have said that I probably won't want to do it so all is well there and can stop the unnecessary stressing!

I totally agree about being told to take it easy! It really p**ses me off when it is said with an almost accusatory tone as if I'm recklessly endangering the life of my unborn child by daring to spend the day doing housework! I am pregnant not an invalid and I'm also not stupid and love my child so would never put it at risk, will slow down as and when I need to!

Veggie chillie for me for dinner tonight! (not actually a veggie but love the recipe that I have so often have it instead of the mince version!)

It's almost the weekend! woop!! Grin

Whiteangel · 26/04/2012 17:52

Wish work would tell me to take it easy! Piling on the pressure at the mo and was 'pregnancy isn't an illness you know' when I swapped a PE cover lesson (standing in the rain for an hour whilst kids kick balls at me) for supervising an ICT lesson. I thought I was being sensible and helpful by sorting it out myself!
Looks like we are moving next Friday! Time to start to panic! My complaint for today is an achy left arm. Started in my thumb, then wrist, had to take my watch off, and now it is up beyond my elbow. Hope I stretched something at aqua last night rather than carpel tunnel as my dad has a terrible time with it!
Hope everyone is well xx

Whiteangel · 26/04/2012 17:52

Oh and think tea is going to be cauliflower/macaroni cheese as we forgot to take the fish out of the freezer! X

MrsMigginslovespies · 26/04/2012 18:30

I've stopped weighing myself regularly as stresses me out, but imagine I'm not going crazy crazy. But certainly feel a lot heavier and lumpier and htat's not including the bump! Not sure what I'm having for supper, as not very hungry at mo due to tea, toast and fruitcake at 5pm...

Still raining here. Feels like November and am cold and sick of it.

NeedlesCuties · 26/04/2012 19:42

After reading about you all and your weight queries I went and weighed myself.

I have put on 4kg (which is 8lb) since the beginning of the pregnancy. Still wearing same size 12 clothes but generally ones with a bit of stretch Wink and I can't do up any trouser buttons anymore.

At this stage when pregnant with DS I had put on much more, but then I've had hyperemesis this time which has ballsed up my eating a bit.

Loislane78 · 26/04/2012 20:02

ham got up from my desk to get a drink and a male colleague who sits opposite shouted "Sloooooooowly" to me as apparently I'm moving around too quickly. I think he was trying to be nice or could be because he's a lil porker and is embarrassed at 23 wks I'm still quicker on my feet than him :)

Was also out for dinner with work this week. Two of us ordered lamb kebabs and they started grilling the waitress on how well done they both were. They insisted i see how pink it was and basically made me swap with the other person. I was hardly eating steal tartare with pâté and unpareurized cheese and some wine on the side!

Ah well :)

PoppyS34wantssleep · 26/04/2012 20:07

Just reading back over the posts - MrsM C&W have been amazing with me, I've been really looked after. Not going to change if I can help it, even if we move.
Marmite not started to this about birth plans at all, still convinved the stork is coming :o I'm also getting a really heavy and uncomfortable bump by the end of the day, it was so bad last week I had to take paracetamol to help Confused

Not booked any classes yet as we don't know where we'll be living, and would really like to book NCT ones to meet others

Re pushchairs, I've been talking to my friends and one has said you can't fold the iCandy cherry without taking the seat off, and it's not that easy to take off, so that's put me off a bit, especially as she said alhtough she likes it, she wouldn't buy it now
So, I've been looking at the M&P Sola, and the UppaBaby Vista. Think the Bugaboo Chameleon will be too big for our car, although the bee looks more compact

alison hope you managed to sort your work problems out Signet congrats on the little girl :) Hello missjemima& & margaret congrats and welcome! ham* hope your cat is ok? :(

PoppyS34wantssleep · 26/04/2012 20:20

faint I had to write a separate, special Poo post :o (TMI warning!)
I have had severe constipation from day one, really really bad. I've really had to up my intake of water, ready to eat fruit, eating loads of prunes and prune juice, drink more orange juice, and last week gave in and bought Lactulose, which is a god send.
It's been so bad, and poos have been SO big, that I've actually blocked the work toilets twice Blush Blush
I think it's given me good practice for pushing this bump out, but I'm really scared about getting piles, and doing other damage.

Anyway, Lactulose is horrible but it works. You can mix it with yoghurt or put it in tea or coffee, but I just next it and then quickly drink something afterwards, and the benefits far outweight the taste.

It's such an unpleasant side effect. :( so I feel your pain.

Right, that's enough poo talk for now :o

PoppyS34wantssleep · 26/04/2012 20:23

Ps: New Look have a sale on some maternity stuff :)

(I'll stop posting now!)
