Whiteangel · 24/04/2012 18:00

Yes, we've gone for the sola from M&P. Picked it up on Sunday. I bought the carrycot second hand on eBay and mum has bought me a new mattress for it. Doubt we'll be using that part for long but it looks brand new! Got to go back once we have changed our car to get an isofix base and have the car seat fitted so can't take that part out of the bag yet.

warzonemummy · 24/04/2012 18:27

Ladies,

Today I have had 3 mangos, 5 bananas, 4 kiwis and an apple. Do you think I will die of fruit poisoning.

25w3d

signet2012 · 24/04/2012 18:39

possible.

I have had 2 twirls, a packet of prawn cocktail crisps, 4 pickled onions and a sausage roll !

Perhaps we should join together and cancel each other out :)

NeedlesCuties · 24/04/2012 18:46

LMAO at warzone and signet's comments as I am currently eating a bowl of custard with a chopped up apple in it Grin

Think I'm somewhere in the middle of you two in terms of my food choices today!

WelshLadyCDF · 24/04/2012 18:53

Hi warzone I keep hoping you're ok where you are, when do you fly back? Has it all been going well?
Xxx

warzonemummy · 24/04/2012 19:55

Dear signet I also ate rice, egg, a burger, chips, cheese and salad. :) yummmmm.... sausage rollllllll

Welsh Lady I am in Afghanistan. I went to Dubai few days ago and did all my check up's. The baby is a girl and she is doing well. I am doing well too. I am flying back during my 34th week. I have checked with the airline and I am allowed to travel until week 36.

Can;t wait for London where I my all the baby stuff I ordered is waiting for me in my flat.

Gnomi · 24/04/2012 20:19

Warzone I had a sausage roll yesterday and loved it! Could totally eat one now... Pretty scary you being in Afghanistan, but you sound very much in control.

Re NCT and NHS classes - we're booked in for both! We don't really know any other people except our close neighbours in our area, so we thought it would be a good opportunity. Friends of mine have met loads of people through the NCT classes, so I was very keen to attend those. Plus, there are a few NCT sales coming up!

I've just mapped out a project I'm doing at work - let's just say, I hope I can cope in the last trimester! I think it's easy to be ambitious now, but in 6 weeks time i might be thinking I've over-stretched. I still have 11 more Mondays, but one of them is half term Smile

MrsMigginslovespies · 24/04/2012 20:25

Just had cereal for supper. Appetite been wierd today. Have been the pancake monster all week but now bit tired and meh feeling. Might head to bed soon for reading and snooze with puppy.

missjemima · 24/04/2012 20:35

Hello! Can I join? Have been a lurker... Ashamed to say Blush

Due 3rd August... DS1 was three weeks early though so this little fella might be a July baby. For that reason totally missed the whole ante-natal class thing last time around. What's the difference between NHS and NCT classes? Sorry if I'm being dim Grin

faintpinkline · 24/04/2012 21:22

hello again.

Alison - I went back to work but part time when DD was 10 days old. I had good employers who let me take her with me and work round it untils he went to nursery at about 10 months. Maybe you can come to some kind of arrangement with your dad? I used to work from home a lot too when (if) dd was sleeping. It was hard at first but i got used to it quite quickly and to be honest found it enjoyable. Watch for what language your baby picks up though I seriously blushed when Dd at the age of 2 asked me very loudly in the middle of the newsagents "is there enough money in the budget for me to have sweets mummy?" Grin

Baby is being quite active at the moment - 7-10pm seems to be the time to give mummy a good kicking.

faintpinkline · 24/04/2012 21:23

Oh and I met a friend for breakfast in Cafe rouge this morning and had pain perdu (french toast with fruit and honey - scrummy)

ishopthereforeiam · 24/04/2012 21:44

geekette you poor thing. Altho shoes are not my only worry... Need to epilate my legs for hols but think I'll just get waxed!

signet I'm having a c/s too ( for other reasons) so feel free to share any info / worries.

Welcome missjemma nhs classes are quite factual and medical in approach ( labour, breastfeeding technique) and ours was only 1.5 days. They may vary in your area. Nct classes give you the chance to learn a bit more about babies, changing nappies etc as well as meeting other expecting parents in your area but you need to pay for them. We didn't do nct with dd and I did wonder when in labour if I should have as the hospital never really taught me the breathing thing (!). Although I met mums in our area once dd was born...

OP posts:
signet2012 · 24/04/2012 22:50

I'm not sure I am yet. Basically I have hypermobility - diagnosed very late at 27 after years of different diagnosis including arthritus (sp)

I have very little knowledge about it and the knowledge I have is only what I have been told on here!

Consultant is going to talk to me when I go but on one hand I want the experience of labour. On the other all the possible things that could go wrong make me think urgh no just give me a sunroof! Then I read about all those issues with that and don't know which is the better option!

capecath · 25/04/2012 08:01

warzonemummy you may know this already but you'll need a GP's medical certificate to confirm you're ok to fly, usually required after 28 weeks, even if airline is ok with you flying up until 36 weeks.

I also missed all but 1 antenatal class! But I do believe NCT classes go into more depth (there are more sessions) and focus on newborn care as well, and also great for meeting mums in your area at same stage as you.

Had meeting with consultant yesterday about DS1's early arrival and it seems it was an abruption rather than a low lying placenta. They don't know what caused it... but I am going to get monitored more closely for rest of the pregnancy which means bonus 3 more scans :)

missjemima · 25/04/2012 09:29

So NCT sounds the way to go... Shall look them up. Still can't quite believe I'm in week 26... This pregnancy is whizzing by compared to my first, anyone on number two experiencing this?

hamncheese · 25/04/2012 09:40

I lost the thread from not posting in ages Blush and now feel well out the loop.

All's well at my end, weather is awful and have an outdoor silver wedding anniversary party to attend on Saturday up north. Have got a great dress though that makes the bump look brilliant, if it will be seen under the ten coats and wellies I will be wearing is another matter though.

Anyone's baby been kicking harder recently? Like faintpink I got a good battering yesterday which was quite uncomfortable but very reassuring.

Happy because only one more trip to Edinburgh for research and I can work in Glasgow or at home again :) Oh well off to clean for a viewing tonight and look after molly cat, who seems to be feeling better, but may need to have a diet change if results come back that she has crystals in her bladder :( poor wee dear.

Read a bit more hypnobirthing stuff last night; anyone else been taking courses/using cds? How are you finding it?

Hope you are all keeping well and sorry for being incommunicado.

(24+4)

MrsMigginslovespies · 25/04/2012 10:44

Ham, what hypo cd are you using? I'd like to start using one too, so any recommendations gratefully received. Was shattered this morning, so went back to bed with puppy, tea and new book then fell asleep until 0930!! Think all my activity yesterday finished me off. Was pleased though as discovered that having been shafted by my self employment/freelance work that's dried up much earlier than I'd hoped, will still be in for some sort of money as maternity pay which is better than nowt.

About to go for wet walk then make asparagus, cheese and ham parcels for supper later. Yum!

Happy Wednesday all x

warzonemummy · 25/04/2012 12:59

capecath I have been getting GP's certificates already to fly, one airline flying to Dubai asks from week 25. I will hopefully remember one when I am 32 weeks gone.

I really want a birth with candle lights, nice calming music, aromatherapy oils while someone gives me an Indian head massage. I also want a full medical team ready to intervene as soon as I need so home birth not an option. Do you think this is possible?

25+4

NeedlesCuties · 25/04/2012 13:42

warzone yeah, all those things sound lovely and relaxing. I don't think hospital would allow you to have candles in case something exploded or caught fire.... but the rest sounds lush.

I had the radio on in the background when in the birthing pool labouring with DS. I was so off my head on gas & air that I ended up having 'conversations' with people doing radio ads and jingles Blush

Lovemarmite · 25/04/2012 17:57

Hi everyone,
Is it just me or at 24+5 is it normal to be really tired and have a really heavy tummy in the afternoon?
Wondering if it's bloating or in fact it's a growth spurt but I'm knackered and feel like I'm carrying a huge bowling ball, cue the legs that are buckling under the weight!
Hmm, I guess if this is normal it's just going to get bigger and heavier?! Hmm Shock

Right, off to sit on the sofa after a day working... ooo surely I should be doing yoga?! Ahhh no energy for that at the moment, but will do if you can tell me that exercise / yoga helping the tiredness, heaviness etc?

fairtradelu · 25/04/2012 18:07

Try the cat stretch Marmite - it's super easy and feels amazing when you are tired or feeling heavy/aching.

Mmm, aromatherapy oils and head massages during labour sound lovely. Might have to send hubbie on a massage course so he can do his bit when the time comes :D

margarethamilton · 25/04/2012 18:17

Hi all

Can I join? Due 03/08/2012 so 25/5 or 100 days to go today! :)

Will take time to go back and read all the posts properly when I'm less busy...

Loislane78 · 25/04/2012 21:46

Lost the thread so just posting to keep us visible on the first page :)

capecath · 25/04/2012 22:28

warzonemummy ah ok good you're all sorted :)
Sounds exactly like the kind of labour I'd like! In Edinburgh at the Royal there is a new birthing centre in a separate building which is meant to try to mimic a "home" atmosphere and be as relaxing as possible, but you have the advantage of being on the hospital grounds in case anything goes wrong - sounds ideal to me. Perhaps investigate if your hospital has something similar? Most do have birthing pools and someone even told me she got offered an aromatherapy menu when in labour recently!
