The third instalment as we're a talkative bunch!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Well i've only put a couple of pounds on, which is still quite a record for me as I lost tons of weight and was starting to get quite worried about it. No matter how much junk I ate it kept falling off. Was also starting to draw some rather nasty comments from people too... So really I'm quite looking forward to putting weight on!!! Well ladies I hope you have all had a beautiful day, one of those days when I would be sitting in the pub garden with a pint of cider and a cigarette, but alas I sat in the pub garden with a glass of lemonade instead :)

I would love to go and get some fruit, however the house cat (not my cat I would like to add, i moved in to my boyfriend's family home), has just thrown up all over the fruit bowl. Definately put me off.
Lots of cuddles to everyone!

mtso ewwwwwwww

londonlivvy · 11/03/2012 19:00

I think I'm quite lucky because other than feeling crappy in the mornings and more tired, I'm not too bad. Long may this last. The top tips of crackers by the bed to nibble at 4am have hugely helped in the mornings so thanks everyone!!

V jealous of the 11 weekers. I am very impatient - only 6+5!

YompingJo, I'm a regular cyclist and the doc said I can cycle as long as I like, though she said in the 3rd trimester your balance can be a bit off, so she suggested cycling in heavy traffic would be a bad idea. So centre parcs sounds perfect - take a bike and a book and ride off away from all the family!

Zara, I'm the same - the fresh air of cycling to work is MUCH better for the nausea than an over-crowded train (am dry heaving at the thought). I found a FAB shelf-type soft cup vest top from Bravissimo that deals with my boobs ('I'm in the squidkid camp - started 30F and now 30G already). Makes sleeping SO much more comfortable though I suspect I won't win any sexy awards any time soon.

squidkid I know what you mean in having such limited stamina - so weird that this pregnancy has such an effect when it's not visible yet!

bettybat Oh that sounds stressful but I'm sure it'll work out - even if the worst came to it, I'm sure you could find another place for your cat. I know they don't like moving house but I'm sure he could do it!

lisbeth I think aupairs can be found in The Lady magazine - some place ads of their availability there or you can place an ad looking for one!

Me and the boyfriend have just been talking and I think we're going to cancel our hiking holiday and book a self-catering cottage by the sea somewhere instead. I am feeling unreasonably sad about this. A cottage by the sea will be just as lovely as a hiking holiday but I feel like it's an admission that I have ground to a halt and am not capable of anything any more, and I've been getting through these weeks by telling myself "well you may not be exercising now, but you're going to do a week's hiking soon!"

I mean it's not set in stone but he kind of gently told me I look exhausted after 5 miles and spend the rest of the day on the sofa. I want to wait until after the scan to book anyway so if I suddenly regain my energy/fitness in the next two weeks we could still do it.

I don't know why I feel so upset. Like I've lost myself. Stupid hormonal squid. :(

Kyyria · 11/03/2012 19:46

I've definitely got bump/scan envy - I'm 7 weeks tomorrow, don't have appt with GP for another 2 weeks, feel like time is going backwards!! Can't wait until scan is done and we have the all clear and then I can tell people!

I wish I could get sorted with the sickness - the nausea is definitely worse in the evenings and although I've not yet been sick I'm fed up feeling like I'm about to be! I know people keep on saying it's best to eat little and often but I'm struggling in that I feel sick and don't feel like eating. When I do eat something it does make me feel slightly better for a bit and then the nausea comes back with a vengeance!

One of the nurses at work has guessed (I work at a GP surgery) and has very kindly offered me a cot, travel cot and bedding as her youngest has just turned two and they have just bought him his own bed. She has been sworn to secrecy!!

Not suffered with the hormones at all yet (am wondering why I'm not bursting into tears every 5 minutes!!!).

squidkid I feel your pain about the holiday. We were supposed to be doing a section of Il Camino de Santiago over Easter and then discovered I was pregnant and realised that a holiday where you HAVE to walk 10+ miles every day to get to the next hostel was just not practical. But I don't think you have to give up on walking entirely. We've now booked a flat in the Pyrenees in a centre that has a swimming pool / wellness centre etc and the plan is that we do some walking, he'll do some cycling, I'll do some swimming and some sleeping and hopefully it'll be good.

If you're about to start the second trimester then you should start feeling more energetic soon (according to all the books I've read anyway!).

*kyyria - that's FAB re cot etc. poor you re the sickness. hope it goes down soon.

SkaterGrrrrl · 11/03/2012 20:08

Anyone else got smelling super power right now? I can smell everything. I play "name that aftershave" on the tube. Luckily the blossom is all out round here, so am enjoying smelling that in the street.

Kyyria, am also experiencing time standing still, i want to tell people.

Jeez I am nauseous, from morning till night, I have taken to carrying ginger nuts in my handbag.

Am also craving cards and nursery food - toast, scrambled egg, custard, cheese.

Waaaay to tired to get in my greenhouse, in fact I had a nap this afternoon!

35, 10 weeks #2

SkaterGrrrrl · 11/03/2012 20:10

Oh and the smell of cooking or frying is unspeakable - DH made himself a fry up this morning and I had to open the back door and stick my head out in a wan fashion Hmm

Angelico · 11/03/2012 20:28

I feel the pain of holiday peeps. Being a teacher I can't get away until July by which time I will need the whole doc's permission to fly thing Hmm Really annoying as read some horror stories about Easyjet etc refusing to take women home without one, leaving them stranded in foreign countries. They insist on letter from 27 weeks. Any airlines you know allow you to fly later?

Also, don't know if you have looked but if you check tabs at top of page under 'Life and style' there is a MN holiday home swap thing. I looked earlier and some amazing places. We are thinking of putting our new house on when work finished as it's in a beautiful part of Ireland - beside a fab beach, golf course etc, quaint little seaside town, amazing views, few miles from Giant's Causeway and other touristy things. If I can't get abroad might try and get a few days in Brighton if nothing else! :-)

Now, shameless self-congratulation here but I finally finished the book edits! So pleased with self as it was harder work than normal with being a bit less energetic than usual. It's going out on sub next week so keeping fingers crossed - a decent advance would really help subsidise crappy maternity pay! :o

Angelico · 11/03/2012 20:30

Oh - and loving all the bra / clothes tips ladies! Zara - great to know about decent shopping places in the south! :) DH is from Dub so we will be down over Easter, hoping Dundrum will have some stuff too :o

Bubblebell1 · 12/03/2012 06:09

Morning girls. Hope all is well and you enjoyed your weekends.

I'm redecorating the house at the moment. Can't quite believe how exhausting it is.
Want to get all the alterations done before this bean arrives. It's hard work.

Oh and I've lost my tweezers. I think I'm going to cry Sad

Tennerlady · 12/03/2012 07:17

Hi lady's hope you all ok I really don't want to go to work today just can't face it as I'm so tired god knows why as all I did yesterday was doze on couch

Iv got my scan tomorrow to see if heart beat there and baby in correct place this time so I am anxious over that but I'm such a horrible Person at moment don't know how my kids and hubby are putting up with me.

The thought of having to deal with a full dairy of customers is making me want to phone in sick so I can catch up on all the things I should of done yesterday like ironing change beds mop floors washing cook a meal ha ha

Think I will go to work after all x

Guccigirl79 · 12/03/2012 08:05

Morning lovely bean bakers!!

So nice to catch up on thread & see that u're all feeling the same way as me (bloated, fat, sick, cant stop eating & cant be arsed to do any housework!!)

Got MW coming for first time today,I'll be 9wks tomoz & have to wait til 5th April for scan & then have obstetrics app at hospital on 11th (have rather unpleasant threatening blood condition) which all seems like an eternity away!!

I too it seems have bump envy & would like to be 11wks so it all seems closer!!

Anyhoo, enough of my rambling!! Happy Monday everyone!!!

milk · 12/03/2012 08:08

SkaterGrrrrl- yes!!! I can smell everything :(

Midgetm · 12/03/2012 08:25

tennerlady I could have written that. My snappish level is set at about zero. I was just horrible to my poor DH and then to cap it all my DD told him off for not being nice enough to me. He remembers only too well how bad I was first tri with DD. he has a haunted look.

Good luck with the scan. I was so relieved that the bean was in the right place this time. Having A EP kinds I changes your thinking doesn't it? Good luck, got everything crossed for you.

Got all my appointments lined up now. Midwife (2 hours...yawn) and 3 scans to take me up to 11 April. If I make it that far will probably go on to have more regular scans because DD was LBR (because of the same clotting issue that causes me to mc). At least I know I shall be well looked after.

GUccigirl - good luck with your consultants. Good to see they will be keeping a close eye on you.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I heart fybrogel.

squidkid · 12/03/2012 08:35

First two patients have cancelled. Cannot. be. arsed. today.

Anyway, i was convinced I had the beginnings of a bump last night! Firm and proud and wonderful. Did a giant poo this morning and it's gone! I don't know whether I'm sad or not. I'm only 11 weeks, plenty of time to grow out of my trousers :) I finish this job in only 2 weeks so I'm very thankful I've been able to fit into my clothes for it! Next job: scrubs. I'm so lucky. All pregnant girls should get to work in scrubs. No washing, no shopping, and you can just pick up different sizes as you get bigger! Now I can spend pennies buying pretty maternity things instead of work things, a ha ha.

OK, squid go and do some work.

MickeyTheShortOne · 12/03/2012 08:54

Morning everyone, hope you all had a good weekend. I go back to work on thursday.. I'm half looking forward to it and half not! I have my first midwife appointment today, hooray. I also want to be 11 weeks. 8 isn't far enough :(

turnwest · 12/03/2012 09:19

Hi everyone, hope you re all ok.

One of the mums in the school playground said to me this morning, "gosh you re huge already, you ll be as a big as a house by the end," I was mortified. I feel so huge and disgusting now, can hardly type this for crying. I was depressed in my first pregnancy, could nt cope with feeling big, but I was so hoping that it would be different this time and I would feel happy ( baby is very very wanted), but its starting again, my stomach is noticeably bigger, and my skin is awful. I feel so fat and disgusting, think I might just stay in the house for the time being (stay at home mum) and only go out for essential journeys, unfortunately school run is essential.

Sorry to be so miserable, it does nt help that my husband was 40 yesterday and at his party my sister in law looked so gorgeous and glamourous. Right I ll stop now, before I bring the mood down.

milk · 12/03/2012 09:50

turnwest, just because you are big now doesn't automatically mean you'll be big at the end!

With DS I was tiny until 6 months, then I became absolutely massive!!! it was crazy!

In other news, I am so impatient I called up the NHS to see if I can change my scan date, and they said an appointment has opened up for Wednesday 21st March, so just 1 week to wait :D

Zoeplankton · 12/03/2012 10:28

Poor turnwest! People just don't realise what they're saying, sometimes, do they? I'm sure you look just beautiful - and if she'd stopped to think for three seconds, I'm sure that other Mum would have said the same too.

FWIW, I grew out of my old clothes by week 8! Had to put my jeans in the attic and get new ones. I'm a size six and have always had a hard time gaining weight (often look gaunt and 'ribby'), so this was a strange experience!

Still no bump though... sigh. Where is my bump?!?

MickeyTheShortOne · 12/03/2012 11:19

Turnwest I'm sorry to hear that, people just don't realise when to keep their comments to themselves. Try not to worry, I am also scared of feeling big as I am usually small. However I also look forward to it because if one more person tells me "Oh you look so skinny, don't you eat?" I might just thump them! I eat like a horse it's none of your business!!!!
I think I have a small bump and my skinny jeans are getting harder to put on... although that could just be the tumble dryer shrinking them!!

LondonMrsS · 12/03/2012 11:30

Hi all,

I?m new to this site. Hope you don?t mind- wanted to join your chat as I?m currently 7 weeks and 2 days (due 27th October) with number 1. Although I have a brilliantly supportive husband, I?m the first of my friends to do this so don?t really have any lady friends to talk to about all the weird stuff my body is doing? I?m 27 years old and live in London and now hate my commute because everyone on the tube stinks.

Hope you?re all well!

SkaterGrrrrl · 12/03/2012 12:23

Welcome LondonMrsS and congratulations on #1 :)

My top maternity bra tip ladies is Hot Milk - expensive but very pretty and worth it. Shop around as other websites sell their products cheaper.

londonlivvy · 12/03/2012 12:27

Welcome LondonMrsS!

Turnwest that sounds rubbish, poor you.

Does anyone else feel cold all the time? I share an office with two very thin women and normally I am boiling whilst we have the heating at 28oC but at the moment I'm the one who's freezing all the time. Why would I be feeling cold? Doesn't seem to make any sense.

milk · 12/03/2012 12:55

londonlivvy, yes, I have been feeling cold! I suggest a mini heater fan under your desk :)
