Waters gone, waiting for everything else to catch up...

Yes, another live labour thread. I'm bored and DH is napping (made sense whilst he can and there's not much he can do for me atm).

Waters started trickling at about 5.30 this morning, MW confirmed, sent me home, told me I needed good regular contractions by 7.30am tomorrow or it's off to the hospital to be induced instead of my hippy-dippy natural birth at the MWLU like I had hoped for...

I've been for a walk, done housework, got DH to do light touch massage and have bought some clary sage which will be used this afternoon...

I'm getting some tight squeezy feelings, but not enough for me to confidently call them up and say - yup, got contractions...

So. Anyone want to entertain me whilst DH sleeps? Or discuss the pros/cons of nipple stimulation etc...?

How exciting! Nipple stimulation and orgasm are supposed to get things going. Also walking and keeping active, you have ages until that deadline, don't fret yet! And squeezy feelings are definitely a good sign :)

MissRee · 10/01/2012 14:15

Hi cakes Grin

nothing seems to be working to bring mine back so I have no advice, just wanted to Mark my place on your birth thread Wink

Keeping everything (except legs of course) that things get going for you now Grin could you send me some water breaking vibes as that's the only thing I can think will get things going again for me now!

Flisspaps · 10/01/2012 14:17

Tight squeeze feelings after waters have gone sounds like contractions to me Wink

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/01/2012 14:18

Fliss - I do hope so... :D

I think prostaglandin from sex is said to help, as is eating fresh pineapples. It could all be hearsay but maybe worth a shot for the birth you'd like? You could try kissing and being all cute with your DH to encourage the 'love' hormone...again all hearsay but nice things to do :) Have you a gym ball? You could try bouncing up and down on that. Best of luck x

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 10/01/2012 14:34

Pam Once your waters have broken you can't have penetrative sex due to the risk of infection, however the prostaglandins in his 'fluids' are said to soften the cervix.

So could be two of you giving birth on this thread, excellent!

Oeisha · 10/01/2012 14:43

hehehehe...not quite the stimulation you're looking for?
Have you been bouncing on a birthing ball? Might help?

fishandlilacs · 10/01/2012 14:45

Oeisha · 10/01/2012 15:16

Actually had DH say re: sex (I'd told him I'm had some cramping earlier in the day). "What if you're dilating and I poke her fontanelle and she gets brain damage..."
Hmm

"baby-cakes" hehehe...

ghosteditor · 10/01/2012 15:34

Grin I've been waiting to use that one!

Er, as much as I would rather not picture this since I know you both, cakes, it's only penetrative sex that's off the cards...

Oeisha you should have used the opportunity to insult his manhood and tell him not to worry, you're sure he wouldn't reach Wink. Or am I the only one who is horrid to her DH at any opportunity?

Oeisha · 10/01/2012 15:59

I would have, but you know, it just wasn't the right time IYSWIM. Men can get very touchy about that sort of thing...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/01/2012 16:01

ghost - w/o getting too graphic the cold sore kind of scuppers some of the other options too...

Sounds exactly like how my labour started (even the time). By midnight, DD was here! It was my second though.

I did lots of walking and carried on about my day as normal.
Once we'd DS to bed, labour kicked off big style (probably because I relaxed).

So try not to think about it too much (as if) and get walking!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/01/2012 16:13

done 2 walks, got the clary sage out (yummy smell) and going to do Wii fit step aerobics later!

FrillyMilly · 10/01/2012 16:20

Ha ha at damaging baby due to sex!!!

Just try to stay active but don't wear yourself out. You will need your energy later. Good luck and hope they start off soon.

Moobee · 10/01/2012 16:21

Good luck cakes!

Bellakins · 10/01/2012 16:41

Cakes sending your baby an eviction notice and hopefully the bouncing on the gym ball will get him moving a bit for you :)
