Yes, another live labour thread. I'm bored and DH is napping (made sense whilst he can and there's not much he can do for me atm).

Waters started trickling at about 5.30 this morning, MW confirmed, sent me home, told me I needed good regular contractions by 7.30am tomorrow or it's off to the hospital to be induced instead of my hippy-dippy natural birth at the MWLU like I had hoped for...

I've been for a walk, done housework, got DH to do light touch massage and have bought some clary sage which will be used this afternoon...

I'm getting some tight squeezy feelings, but not enough for me to confidently call them up and say - yup, got contractions...

So. Anyone want to entertain me whilst DH sleeps? Or discuss the pros/cons of nipple stimulation etc...?

Hopefully that means the hormones/emotions are gearing up, cakes Smile

You'll get there!!!

shonnomanom · 10/01/2012 19:15

Come on baby cakes, time to get out the oven!

Oh how I would love to have a labour thread myself, however I think I'm still going to be pregnant next Christmas at this rate!

Rollersara · 10/01/2012 19:22

Oo, how exciting! Good luck!!

BeeWi · 10/01/2012 19:43

Why not bake a birthday cake to keep yourself occupied and vertical? Might be lovely for after the birth.

Good luck- very exciting!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/01/2012 19:54

Sooooooooooo tired now. Had two naps, not sure what the hell is happening with everything else...

Am desperate for some good strong regular cx to hang my hat on, but - the hardest thing is trying to relax so you don't get in your own way with the hormones and stuff.

On the plus side my temp seems to be staying below 37 so no sign of infection yet...

Don't worry. My waters broke at around 5am with my second. Then nothing apart from a few twinges. I went shopping at Morrisons, did some housework and sent dh off to pick up a few bits and pieces. I also started baking a cake to offer the midwives when they came round.
I was getting mightly fed up until I started bouncing around on my birth ball and running up and down the stairs. From then on, the pains started coming much more frequently and more intense.
The midwife arrived, announced that I was only 6cm dilated and it would be a couple of hours so there was no panic. Yet within half an hour I was on all fours pushing. It happened very very quickly which I was thankful for and afterwards we all had a slice of cake like civilised people!

addictediam · 10/01/2012 20:13

Ooo cakes thinking of you (and marking my place!) Really hope Cx get stronger soon, know how much you want your mwl birth.

ghosteditor · 10/01/2012 20:55

So, cakes, should I stay up to watch the thread through the night or are you trying to sleep and want leaving alone to get on with it?

Yummymummyyobe1 · 10/01/2012 20:58

Come on baby cakes. xx

ShowOfHands · 10/01/2012 21:00

Ooh best of luck. This was me 18 weeks ago. Things didn't start in the end. Waited about 37hrs but cervix still closed and long. I'm rather crap at labour tbh. It's a funny old feeling knowing that you're on a countdown but with no actual proper labouring isn't it? Maybe it's purgatory. Grin

Rest as much as you can and look forward to the next bit. It's happening, your baby's coming soon. How marvellous.

supadupapupascupa · 10/01/2012 21:03

you little minxies! i have been wondering what's happening and you've created another thread :-)
has anyone linked on the anti-natal one?

sending loads of good luck vibes my fellow incubator buddies xxxx

BigHotMama · 10/01/2012 21:26

Good luck cakes Smile

Oeisha · 10/01/2012 22:02

FX cakes. I'm off to bed!

CervixWithASmile · 10/01/2012 22:05

Obviously I'm not a medical professional but just to say they can't force you to be induced. You could be monitored and wait longer if you choose to. You are in control!

Moobee · 10/01/2012 22:53

Hey cakes I hope you are resting up. Fingers crossed for contractions starting soon (or after a good nights sleep) and that it all goes well for you. Whatever happens, your hypnobirthing will be good experience. x

peanuts777 · 10/01/2012 23:02

Hurrah Cakes! I am sending you strong cx vibes and I have a strong feeling it's going to all work out the way you want. Relax and keep moving.

I can't sleep because I am hooked to the live labour thread. GENIUS idea!? X

GiraffeAHolic · 10/01/2012 23:12

Yay cakes fingers crossed that you are contracting like mad by now Smile

Must sleep before milk monster wakes again, will check in later.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/01/2012 01:12

Hello? Anyone there? DH got me to sleep about 10.30pm with a hypno exercise and I felt really calm and positive but woke up just now with hideous stomach acid and nausea, then got really chilled and was just shaking and sobbing. Now I've warmed up, calmed down, had some Gaviscon I've sent DH back to bed and I'm here on my exercise ball just really trying to send squeezy feelings to my belly...

I know that staying calm is imperative but I hate this feeling of being on the clock and my time is running out. Even if I choose not to have the induction the MWLU I wanted to birth in will refuse to take me and I'll have to go to the big hospital which is what I didn;t want. It's making me :(

Hi didn't want to leave you unanswered cakes.
Have you got cable tv? Apparently watching births gets things going you can put home & health on they usually show baby progs all night. Or catch up tv last weeks one born every minute..

Don't fret about the birth plan not going to plan.
You end up with a healthy baby then it has all worked out!

It's easy to worry about not getting the birth you envisaged but believe me there's plenty of things to guilt yourself over once you become a mum don't waste it all now!

Have had 4 all different births & no plan for any of them. Think if I had ve had a plan only number 3 wouldve fit it!

Hope you do get things moving soon just keep picturing that lovely baby in your arms soon. Do you know what you're having?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/01/2012 01:33

We know what we're having but haven't really told most people... they'll find out soon enough I guess.

Amd feeling a little more positive as I think things might be progressing slightly... will just keep bouncing gently on my exercise ball and staying calm and hoping things move forwards...

Thanks for replying. Seems silly to keep DH awake when I'll need him to be energised later on, but so nice not to be up on my own.

I know how you feel I tried to let Dh sleep as much as poss when I knew it was happening too.
Did you find a birth show to watch?
Going to put ds back to bed now but he's done his long sleep stretch so I'll be back soon!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/01/2012 01:52

Had a look at some hypno births on YoutTube - has made me feel much more relaxed - just trying to encourage baby to want to come out :)

kohl · 11/01/2012 02:04

hey cakes, no babeee yet? I'm up trying to finish a bastard essay for the forseeable if you're around. Try not to panic (easy to say...) I had home birth lentil weavery for most of mine then everything i really didn't want (hospital, consultants blue lights interventions) when dd wouldn't come out, but it really was so so fine and think - you'll soon have box fresh brand new snuggly new born! how are you feeling? No spare pineapple lying around?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/01/2012 02:10

Even if we had pineapple I doubt I could keep it dfown with this amount of acid reflux...

Am nipple twiddling instead :D (sorry - TMI?) Am getting so leakage, so assume I'm doing it right. Hopefully things are picking up, but I don't trust the sensations I'm getting, I guess - they don't seem very clear or strong and everyone has said "When you get a cx, you'll know" so am a bit Hmm that i'm imagining things...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/01/2012 02:10

*some leakage. Damn lefthand typing
