Waters gone, waiting for everything else to catch up...

Yes, another live labour thread. I'm bored and DH is napping (made sense whilst he can and there's not much he can do for me atm).

Waters started trickling at about 5.30 this morning, MW confirmed, sent me home, told me I needed good regular contractions by 7.30am tomorrow or it's off to the hospital to be induced instead of my hippy-dippy natural birth at the MWLU like I had hoped for...

I've been for a walk, done housework, got DH to do light touch massage and have bought some clary sage which will be used this afternoon...

I'm getting some tight squeezy feelings, but not enough for me to confidently call them up and say - yup, got contractions...

So. Anyone want to entertain me whilst DH sleeps? Or discuss the pros/cons of nipple stimulation etc...?

I was told you can have a bath but no products in it so just the water ..?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/01/2012 06:04

We don't have a bath anyway, so not an option.

Ugh, went back to bed for an hour, woke up running with sweat although the room was only 17 degrees - my nigthie was soaked through. I'd better take my temp if I can locate the thermometer...

Good luck, hope temp is ok, might be jut too hot on the beanbag?

ParsleyLion1 · 11/01/2012 06:17

Probably just your internal heat valves going BSM cakes did you have a temp? X

flyingcloud · 11/01/2012 06:42

CailinDana · 11/01/2012 06:51

Good luck!

ParsleyLion1 · 11/01/2012 06:53

Good luck cakes I know what you mean about the disappointment but I've had longer to come to terms with mine than you have. You can still use all your techniques and have the calm birth you want. Can you play your affirmations on the way in the car?

addictediam · 11/01/2012 06:59

Good luck, hope its a positive experience despite not being at mwlu. Thinking of you today.

Rollersara · 11/01/2012 07:01

Sorry to hear that cakes but hope everything goes well. Just think about the snuggly newborn at the end!

northernmonkey · 11/01/2012 07:03

Good luck cakes Smile

MissRee · 11/01/2012 07:39

Hope everything goes well for you cakes x

Flisspaps · 11/01/2012 08:38

You never know, you might get there and end up waiting round long enough for things to really ramp up naturally anyway. Labour is a hot and sweaty business anyway so that could be what's happening rather than infection but you'll not know until you get to hospital. You've given yourself and baby the BEST possible chance of low intervention and a natural birth by planning to be at home in the first place, fingers crossed that you have as natural and quick a birth there as you hoped for at home, and that you're tucked back up in your own bed tonight (not impossible!) Smile

peanuts777 · 11/01/2012 09:03

good luck cakes you sound like you are doing brilliantly. Try to focus on yourself and the baby and concentrate on the fact that it is just you and babe sharing this experience together, however he/she arrives. Everybody else there is just making sure you are both happy and safe xx when you hold babe in your arms with your DH everything else will be a million miles away and you could be anywhere.......

Oeisha · 11/01/2012 09:56

cakes FX for you. Sorry you've had to go in. Hopefully you can have as natural a birth as possible in hospital.

ghosteditor · 11/01/2012 10:23

cakes hope all's going well! As others have said, it's just a change of scenery and your other plans don't necessarily have to change - you've put all the work in with hypno etc so it will still be very valuable!!

Good luck xx

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 11/01/2012 10:38

Good Luck Cakes!

emmyjj · 11/01/2012 11:07

Thinking of cakes - you may be in the main hospital but remember lots of hypnobirths still happen there. Make sure your OH does all he can to create the right environment to get you into the zone, and remember you can question everything that is being done and keep them talking to you until you are 100% happy with the process and understand what is going on. It's your birth! Everyone is there to help you and little one at the end of the day, it should be a team effort to get the most positive experience.

ghost cross post in the small hours - how exciting - hope things pick up again soon! Body is clearly getting ready even if things go quiet for a bit.

fish hope you have a lovely time with your friend this pm, think shonno was saying how important it is to keep busy and have lots of plans either side of your due date to keep spirits up. I planned for loads leading up to the 1st, my due date, including going to an NYE party which was fab, and quite a bit last week, but really thought I'd be snuggling a newborn by this week so I've been a bit bored and it's made these last couple of days drag.

Cold seems to be starting to slink off, def reduction in nose blowing. At least the cough has put my pelvic floors to the test! X

ghosteditor · 11/01/2012 11:48

Hi everyone: cakes asked me to update you all so here goes: she's at the hospital now having passed the 24 hour mark for her waters breaking. They will try to break the rest of her waters now and then they've opted for an induction after an hour or so if the waters don't kick things off properly.

ShowOfHands · 11/01/2012 11:55

Send her MN's collective love and best wishes.

ghosteditor · 11/01/2012 12:36

Will do!

Yummymummyyobe1 · 11/01/2012 12:39

Love to cakes and hopefully very soon baby cakes. xx
