Is there anyone around who has just found out that they are pregnant and are due in Sept?
I know it's very early days but I thought maybe I could get the ball rolling...
I'm due around Sept 4th I think, with DC2, feeling very happy if a bit nervous :)

flipflopper · 18/01/2012 07:59

oh missuswife, hope everything is ok, fingers crossed for you xx

Macaroons · 18/01/2012 08:39

Morning all. I woke up at silly hour (4am) and struggled to get back to sleep, till it's almost time to get up for work! Very sleepy now, it's gonna be a long day.Confused

I'm week 7 today still no morning sickness nor change in appetite. My ovulation is around day 23 so maybe that's why my embryo / foetus is still quite young!

missuswife hope you are ok, take care! Fingers crossed for you!

FTM1 · 18/01/2012 09:17

Hey everyone,

Congratulations to you all! I am also due to have second early Sept - not entirely sure about date bec of 20day cycles but am 7 weeks today. Thank you Viola Crayola for setting up this link - It will be really helpful to keep in touch! It sounds like a few of us have at least one DC already too. Cosykins - congrats - it is SO especially exciting when it's your first!

How are you all doing? Like Viola have started getting the wonderful nausea and feel going to be sick sometimes especially in evening for some reason and like Rusulka have been getting cramps ( like last pregnancy when advised to rest as much as poss). Usually find ginger helps with sick feeling - any other tips?

Did anyone watch '15 kids and counting' last night? If not - is worth watching on i player! Whoa 15kids and the woman wanted more... Felt sorry for the kids actually, with the small age gaps between them thy can't have had the 1:1 that most little ones get!

FTM1 · 18/01/2012 09:19

Dear Missuswife - I do hope you're okay and resting up. Will keep everything crossed for you xx

Macaroons · 18/01/2012 09:23

Just wondering if you have changed your habit since you got your BFP? I said I'd try to slow down (not run for buses and trains) and eat more veg and fruit but its easier said than done Blush

WinkyWinkola · 18/01/2012 09:29

I craved choc with ds1 and ds2 and crisps and olives with dd. Very sick with boys and only sometimes nauseous with dd.

There's no rhyme or reason to this gender thing. Everyone is different.

AmandinePoulain · 18/01/2012 09:38

missus I had bright red blood, brown and pink when I was pregnant with dd, but no cramping. This pregnancy I've had cramping but only brown and pink spotting. I'll be thinking of you x

maccas sorry to disprove your theory but at the start with dd I really wanted savoury things, especially cheese, at the start, then as I went along I wanted mangoes and raspberries. This time I've gone off most things, apart from crisps. Ive always been able to take or leave chocolate but I don't want it at all at the moment. Saying that, I just had to buy some chocolate donuts when I saw them yesterday, I managed to stick to 1 though! Grin

I'm back at work after my holidays tonight and dreading it as I'm so tired and my 'morning' sickness is so much worse at night! Then booking in appointment tomorrow Smile

lurkingmurking · 18/01/2012 10:02

Hi all

missus are you having a scan today?

Why do these first few weeks take soooooo long? We have a private scan booked for 12th Feb but it still seems like forever! I always said for my second I'd like to just be 9 months pregnant rather than all this waiting.

Still scared by every single cramp but I know it's normal.

lurkingmurking · 18/01/2012 10:03

Oh and on the Mr Whippy ice cream and soft eggs I ate both last time after 12 weeks - the only thing I avoided the whole way through was unpasturised cheese and pate/liver (DH bought me a huge hamper of the stuff once I'd popped). I think it's very much a personal choice though.

Rusulka · 18/01/2012 10:37

Hey ladies!

Feeling a little more cheery despite continued spotting as have my early scan tomorrow. Hoping everything will be OK, but feeling a lot calmer just for knowing something is being done. Also, yesterday I got my letter through from the midwife, whoop! Appt on 6th Feb. Does feel like an age to wait, especially as I'll already be 10 weeks by then, so she'd better sort out the 12 week scan sharpish!
Feeling a little rotten though, as my previous experience with rubbish GPs led me to submit an online form to the midwife team at the hospital to refer myself again (didn't trust it would be done)... letter was waiting for me when I got home from having a day nattering about baby stuff with SiL. Embarassment!

Missuswife hope things are ok today. I'm sure I've heard of people having red bleeds and then being fine, but obviously nothing is going to set your mind at rest apart from the scan. FX.

Welcome newbies!

On the banned food list, I'm pretty well versed as it's not that dissimilar from what my dad has to avoid- he had a liver transplant in May, and I remember at the time thinking it was very similar to a pregnancy no-go list- and for the same reason- his immune system is about the same as a tiny growing baby's.
So I've been able to avoid probing comments by saying I was following his diet as a precaution for my liver. Unbelievably they swallowed it! Hee.

On the caffeine front, before we started trying, I switched to redbush tea- it does take a period of adjustment (tastes weird at first) but I can't drink normal tea now, because THAT tastes weird! And there isn't so much caffeine in milk choc as there is in dark. I did read it somewhere what the max amount would be, let me check... it's 200mg.
That's the same as:

2 cups of coffee
1 cup of filter coffee
2 mugs of tea
4 mugs of green tea
5 cans of coke
2 cans of energy drink
4 small bars of plain chocolate
8 small bars of milk chocolate

My only problem now is determining what a 'small' bar of chocolate is. I'm guessing it's not the family-sized bar of milka my MiL brought me back from Germany. Whoops!

Loopyhasanotherbean · 18/01/2012 10:48

lurking you are braver than me. I don't risk eating anything that could cause listeria or salmonella, i couldn't bear it if something i ate caused a miscarriage or still birth.

hope it's good news today missuswife

i recorded 15 kids, part way through as DS is having a nap now, crazy women!

Re cravings etc, with DS i ate lots of crisps, pork scratchings, and pickled cabbage, but also had lots of ice lollies and haribo tangfastics so not sure that helps with the theories!!

Jakeyesqwellthisisnew · 18/01/2012 10:52

How are we all?

I was in hospital yesterday.
Had a fall on the tube getting to work in the morning. Broke my arm and wrist in 2 places (badly), trying to cushion myself. (fell forward)
So ended up in A&E.
Went to the loo while waiting and noticed some blood and abdomen was hurting since I fell.

Couldn't phone BF so I was waiting for a ages by myself - needed an xray on my arm, then waiting to have it cast, and waiting to have a scan (not that they can see a lot - but as I thought I was 5 days today, think they decided to give it a shot).

Was there for hours.

Anyway just saw the sac on scan (just about) So EDD may be changing but they didn't want to say till they could see more.

But I'm off work for a few days (broke my left arm, i'm left handed.)
Mean't to keep an eye on myself too see if bleeding and pain continues (I haven't had any before I fell - so hoping it is not related, and everything is okay)

missus Hope everything is okay.

missuswife · 18/01/2012 11:01

Just had my scan and they could tell I'd ovulated but couldn't see an obvious pregnancy. They took some blood and will ring me later :/. I'm cheering myself up with a fag and some salami. Just one fag then they go back in the freezer.

Ponyclubmum · 18/01/2012 11:10

Hope everything is ok Missus. Fingers crossed for you. And Jakey too, hope you're not in too much pain and you have no more bleeding.

I've had my scan this morning, and everything was fine. Saw the little heart beating! They said the bleeding was probably from my cervix, as they couldn't see any reason for it.

The sonographer gave me 2 photos of the scan which I wasn't expecting, just looks like a little blob but still lovely to have! Last time I didn't get photos of the early scan, or the 12 week scan (forgot to ask!), but I had another extra scan because of more bleeding and got some then, and made sure to remember to ask at the 20 week one too!

missuswife · 18/01/2012 11:22

That's terrific news Ponyclubmum, I'm so glad everything is progressing normally.

cakeladyc · 18/01/2012 11:52

So a quick update from me. I?m feeling a lot better about everything now, I really freaked out when we tested, because although we?d been trying, I wasn?t entirely confident we?d get anywhere ? I was on the pill for 13 yrs.
Once we got the BFP, I panicked ? omg life is never going to be the same, do I really want to give up our peaceful life together etc etc, but I?ve realised we can still have an awesome life with a little person in it too 
I?m not excited yet though, just really really nervous, and my appt with the doc isnt until 2nd Feb, so I?m going to be almost 8 weeks by that point.

My boobs don?t feel sore anymore, just really heavy, I?m really hungry almost all the time and mainly for really savoury things, like pastry, crisps etc? I?m trying to eat really healthily but fruit is a real turn off at the moment! Most sweet things are actually. I?ve also switched to decaff tea, which tastes alright but I?ve had the most almighty caffeine withdrawal headache over the last couple of days which has been pretty crap. Also the tiredness is killing me ? I had 8 hours uninterrupted sleep last night and woke up feeling great, but by 10.30 I was slumped at my desk yawning my head off!

Anyway, onwards and upwards? sorry if this looks a bit funny, I?ve had to write it in Word at work to try and look like I?m doing something productive! 

Iph · 18/01/2012 12:26

Glad you're feeling better cakelady, good strategy for chatting to us while it looks like you're working :)

missus I'm so sorry you're going through this too. I looked on the list but couldn't see - how many weeks should yo be a the mo? Hopefully just too early to see anything - fingers crossed for the blood tests results. I've had lots of bleeding but not much cramping, I've read of lots of women with both though and good results.

Great news pony, lovely to get pics of your little blob too! We've nearly the same due date so it's making me so impatient to have another week without knowing while this discharge continues and my symptoms are barely there.

Speaking of which, MrsHP you can now join whatever and I in the official Next Wednesday Scan Club Freakout! I'm just warning you that time actually appears to be going backwards though.

jakeys Ouch!! I can't believe your bad luck. I really hope you recover well and aren't in too much pain, make the most of being off work to put your feet up and rest.

I used to be a firm believer that pregnacy was not an illness and there was no need to be treated any differently -I decorated an entire house while heavily pregnant with DD, up ladders painting, shifting furniture around, laying flooring, etc.
Since the miscarriage though and through the bleeding now and some of the experiences on this thread I've come to the conclusion we should all just packed away in cotton wool for the next 7 months, maybe complete with 'do not disturb' signs?

Any up date from spuddy? Hope all's well?

Good luck tomorrow rusulka and anyone else with a scan coming up x

Iph · 18/01/2012 12:32

On cravings - with DS it was anything sour, the more face-distorting the better. I used to comb sweet shops for their sourest sounding sweeties.

With DD, can't remember anything particularly foody but was freaked out by overwhelming desire to eat bath sponge Confused. I had to buy a couple in the end just to chew on Blush

holls2000 · 18/01/2012 12:50

missus hope the news is ok.

When do cravings start? And morning sickness? Seriously, I hate being sick, so WHY ON EARTH do I want to start morning sickness?

Sounds stupid but I feel a bit thicker round the waist (no, not excess Xmas food!!). Is that possible or is it just me imagining things?!!!

missuswife · 18/01/2012 12:51

Wow Iph, I've heard of women craving chalk or even loo paper but never a bath sponge! That is really interesting.

I'm more worried about the cramps than the blood. I reckoned my due date was 8 September, so should have been 6 weeks, 5 days. The doc said she couldn't see an "obvious pregnancy," and she had another doc confirm her opinion. They took a blood sample and said they'd do some tests and call me later. She seemed fairly certain that there was no pregnancy inside or outside the womb, but said the blood test would confirm either way. And that I should come back if I experienced any pain (with a capital P, not cramps), which might indicate an ectopic pregnancy.

Jakeys, hope you are resting comfortably now and watching Poirot or something. There is eff all on telly today! I've taken the rest of the day off and now I'm bored.

Jakeyesqwellthisisnew · 18/01/2012 14:02

Thanks missus I do hope everything will be okay with you.
I know - there is nothing on TV. I have settled on watching E! And putting washing on.
Iph I remember BF mum telling me that she had a craving for soil when she was pregnant with him. Would get dirty carrots and potatoes and lick them clean from the garden. And thanks,I am use to breaking bones

ThreeForTea · 18/01/2012 14:05

Oh no jakeys, poor you! Hope you get to rest and that everything is ok. Was it busy. Were people pushing?

Congrats ponyclub that sounds like was nice :)

resulka that's such a clever way of hiding it ; diet precaution! Love it.

I'm drinking lots more water I'm usually totally on tea but among other reasons of course doesn't help the loo going! I'm religious about banned cheese and vitamin a (eg pate and some fortified juice drinks - always check) but can be swayed by other things in moderation of course. Have zero alcohol in first trimester policy for myself though just in case.

holls your waist thickens up before bump comes, have kissed hope of wearing my sale bargins till next year already :(

missus still thinking of you

Jakeyesqwellthisisnew · 18/01/2012 15:12

Thanks three yep very, i get off at a very busy stop and tube was packed, you basically get pushed off and pulled along. Bag got caught behind me, lots of people, wearing heels... Down I went

I'm on rooibos tea now and no coffee :( BF has removed every tiny bit of food from my house that is nice to eat :( But he has promised me a Wagamamas on the weekend :)

quitcomplaining · 18/01/2012 15:19

Wow I can hardly keep up with this thread! There is def a september baby boom!

I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing itchy nipples?! My boobs feel otherwise normal, no aches or pains. I don't remember this last time!

In finding it very hard to keep being pregnant a secret! Dying to tell someone. Work are not going to he impressed. I'm here covering someone elses maternity. So now the maternity cover will be going on maternity before the original returns! It would also seem they have to pay my maternity pay even though im only on a fixed term contract....Blush

MadMonkeys · 18/01/2012 15:20

Interesting to hear how everyone's getting on with pregnancy symptoms. I had really bad morning sickness with DD (DC1) a couple of years ago, but no sign of it yet. I can't remember when it started last time, but I'm 5 + 2 now, so I think it's probably too early yet. Although bizarrely I did feel sick and mildly crampy from two days after ovulation this time and although the nausea only lasted for a couple of days the cramping has only just stopped in the last few days. Anyone got morning sickness yet?

I'm hungry all the time too - but we really don't need any extra calories yet do we?
