sorry the hear your news daisy take care

waves to all others - who is next on the arrivals list?!

AmandinePoulain · 10/07/2012 08:04

I'm very happy to say that I've finished work Grin, now all I need is some sunshine to make the most of whilst I'm off Grin. I met my consultant for the first time in 2 pregnancies under him yesterday Hmm, and he's discharged me back to my mw. I seem to have weekly appointments at the moment - I'm seeing an anaesthetist on Thursday, then back to the mw next week.

Hope you're feeling better moomin, and ds too.

Piemistress · 10/07/2012 15:49

I am very envious of your maternity leave amandine I have my unwatched cold feet and this life box sets here!

Presently very sleep deprived, Cerys still mixed up days and nights and fusses a lot in the middle of the night, if I start despairing a bit I just remind myself how blessed I am that she is here

Moominsummermadness · 10/07/2012 18:29

Thanks Amandine, I'm having good days and bad days with the spd- I can't wait to finish work so that I will be more comfortable! Sitting for 8 hours at a desk 5 days per week isn't helping, the physio said to move around as much as possible, but I won't get much work done if I do that! DD is better now thanks, luckily the other 2 didn't catch it! Hurray for you being on Mat leave.

Pie, it's very early days yet, but hopefully Cerys will settle into more of a routine soon. I must admit, the sleep deprivation is the bit I'm least looking forward to!

Hello to everyone else.

AmandinePoulain · 12/07/2012 16:47

pie I hope that Cerys gets her days and nights sorted soon! Did you pick a welsh name because you have a Welsh connection?

I've just been to see an anaesthetist, she was lovely but she's got me fretting a bit! I've asked to avoid morphine this time in my spinal, as I itched really badly last time. She's agreed to me just having fentanyl and then codeine and volterol post op but she seemed a bit concerned that that wouldn't be enough! So now I don't know what to do for the best, I'll be seeing the anaesthetist that'll be in theatre with me 3 days before (she said it won't be her as she doesn't work Mondays) so maybe I'll see what they think. I can't face being in that much pain, but I don't fancy itching like that again!

Piemistress · 12/07/2012 19:23

What is it with anaesthetists making us fret!

No welsh connection, just loved the name Smile

Cerys is now past the sleep all day phase and is now resisting naps unless being held but cuddles and based on the sofa I can do!

AmandinePoulain · 19/07/2012 10:52

How is everyone?

I think I'm ready for this baby - I've finished all the washing and bought everything I need to buy. It's hard to believe that in less than 5 weeks she'll be here, over 2 years after we starting trying Grin. I've just seen a mw (not mine, another one from the same team who I haven't met before) and she's diagnosed me with a 'funny shaped pelvis' (I'm not sure that's the proper medical name Grin) given that my babies don't like facing the right way to get out! Grin

Moominsummermadness · 20/07/2012 19:29

I'm good thanks, Amandine.

Not really much to report- keep pinching myself about having less than 9 weeks to go now. This pregnancy has flown by. I have two weeks left at work, and I really can't wait to finish. I want to fall asleep at my desk most afternoons! It's probably due to being woken up by my bladder 3 times per night, and having very weird dreams about the baby! I'll update the stats- not that there are many of us left now!

Moominsummermadness · 04/08/2012 10:09

Hello Ladies, how is everyone?

I am now on maternity leave! Hooray! I had a lovely last day at work yesterday, and was overwhelmed by how many presents and cards I had. My colleagues are all so kind. I can't quite believe that I won't have to get up for work on Monday, I've been working full-time in my current job for 3 1/2 years. Now I just have to think of ways to keep the DCs amused for the next 4 weeks until they go back to school!
I'm on iron tablets now (Amandine, you posted on my thread about this, didn't you). My iron had gone from 12.2 at booking, to 10.6 at 27 weeks, and then my latest result from 31 weeks showed that it had dropped even further to 10. Hopefully I'll start feeling a bit less washed-out, and will be able to have my home birth, as they'd said that if it went below 10 and stayed there, I'd have to have the baby in hospital. At least taking the iron now will prevent it from dropping below the cut-off point.
All of us left on the thread will have had our babies in the next few weeks! How exciting!

AmandinePoulain · 04/08/2012 14:37

Hi moomin, glad you got your iron sorted.

I'm fed up...of not being able to walk uphill or up the stairs without feeling out of breath, of my sides hurting, of being head butted in the ribs, and of feeling as though my lungs are being squashed! Plus my morning sickness returned in a dramatic fashion last night...I had to wake dh up and get him to fetch me a bucket Blush. Still, only a maximum of 16 days to go!

AmandinePoulain · 10/08/2012 12:02

Well...after a long night, a scan which revealed a non breech baby, 8 hours of contractions that only got me to 3cm, Elodie Grace was born by cs at 8:54 this morning weighing 6lbs 9 at 37+4 weeks.

I have finally got the family of 4 that I've always wanted. 18 months ago I felt like I'd never get here, but here I am! Thanks to everyone that has been on these threads with me xxx

Moominsummermadness · 10/08/2012 16:31

Oh wow, Amandine! Congratulations! What a lovely name too. Having been following your progress from pre-conception in the common room thread, it's so nice to see that you've finally got there. xxx

Congrats amandine what fantastic news!I this thread had dropped off my list do I missed the news on Friday! I absolutely love your daughters name, how beautiful. Xx

Cerys is 8 weeks already where is the time going! She looks just like her brother but is long and skinny whereas he is more like nesnd short! All going ok, had a few rough nights lately as she us is a real grunter at night and makes an incredible noise in her sleep so we are lying awake listening to her!

How you doing moomin?

qazxc · 13/08/2012 08:11

Hi, can i join? Got my BFP this morning. Am excited but a bit nervous. DP is possibly even more nervous and scared that we will have another miscarriage. this will (hopefully) be our first child. We had a miscarriage in march this year.

AmandinePoulain · 13/08/2012 10:32

Thanks pie and moomin Smile

We're home and adjusting. Elodie (like Cerys) has her days and nights confused...I was prepared for that though given her pattern since about 28 weeks! She refuses to entertain the idea of settling in her crib before about 12/1 and then we get a few hours before she's hungry again. I'm so glad she's here though, I'm loving being able to sit how I want to sit and walk upstairs again! I feel like I've been given a bonus 10 days with her Smile

Hi qaz, congratulations Smile. Having come through to the other side I can tell you that you will probably stress constantly over everything for the next 9 months, but it'll be worth it in the end. Distraction and taking the early days one at a time are my recommendations Smile

lily06 · 13/08/2012 15:56

Congratulations, so pleased for you Smile

heather1969 · 13/08/2012 16:57

hi can I join.
Had 2 mc in July & Aug of 2011.
Have done home test & its positive but too afraid to go to doctor cause last visit started drama-scan-no heartbeat resulting in mc.
Having mild cramping and really anxious. So pessimistic driving dh insane. What can I do to help me relax & be more positive?
Know I have to see doctor-building courage to do so by end of the week.
help:-(

Moominsummermadness · 13/08/2012 19:22

Welcome to the thread, qazxc8 and heather. It is very scary in the beginning (and sometimes all the way through!), but we've all been there. This thread has saved my sanity, especially when I felt unable to talk to people in RL about how I was feeling. I second what Amandine* said- the best advice that was given to me was to take each day one at a time, and to try to focus on other areas of my life. It is easier said than done though!

Pie, lovely to hear from you. I'm well thanks, have been on maternity leave for over a week. I did way too much last week, did far too much cleaning and sorting things out around the house, and exhausted myself walking around Alton Towers in the heat for 8 hours! Was glad that I took my kindle, as there was a lot of waiting around watching the rides! Had an antenatal appointment today, all appears to be well, baby is on the 90th centile on my growth chart according to fundal height measurement. I can't believe that Cerys is 8 weeks old already!

Amandine, hopefully Elodie will settle a bit more soon. This LO seems to have quiet mornings, then doesn't stop wriggling from about 2pm until at least midnight! It must be nice to be able to move around and sit how you want- I just can't get comfortable sitting down. I feel as though my lungs are completely squashed when sitting at the moment!

Piemistress · 13/08/2012 20:30

Ps Is there a grads thread from this one once the babies have arrived?

Welcome heather and qaz, what really helped me was telling myself that "today I am pregnant" and tried not to obsessively knicker check! It's hard though! This thread is quite quiet at the mo, there are usually a couple of pg after mc threads on the go.

Have had a stressful couple of weeks as Cerys failed three hearing tests at the hospital before we were discharged although seemingly common in CS babies? But then went on to fail her AABR test in her left ear when 6 weeks old, very stressful as she had to be asleep for 2 hrs while they put these electrode things on her head and probe in her ear. They said she wouldn't be retested till 10 months which I wasn't happy about so chased it through and got a retest this week and she passed. Not sure what has changed they said she might have had fluid in her ear, why couldn't they have said this before to stop me fretting!

Her days and nights are now ok, she goes to bed about 830 and has two feeds but is up for an hour each time and usually quite unsettled after 5am trying to poo!

Not long moomin! Sorry no bold it's a right faff on the iPad.

qazxc · 13/08/2012 20:43

hi heather try not to worry over mild cramping, it's very normal in early pregnancy. I know cause i have it and have been obsessively checking in every baby book known to man. hope you feel up to go to the doctor soon.
Thanks thank you everybody for your lovely welcome.

AmandinePoulain · 13/08/2012 21:25

pie thanks for that story - Elodie failed in her right ear, left was fine. The information I was given by the testing lady was that 20% fail in one ear so it's not even routine to retest, I requested a retest though and I've got an appointment for 3 weeks time. She mentioned it was probably fluid/background noise, and Elodie startles at noise and will turn to look at a rattle if I shake one but I still worry (there's always something!). It's good to know that Cerys has been given the all clear Smile.

heather1969 · 13/08/2012 21:58

Thanks for kind words ladies.
have tried to be positive and avoiding obsessive knicker checking but 2nd mc decided to let nature take its course & onset was unexpected and not gradual at all. If I hadn't known would have completely freaked me out.
Lovely to hear such positive thoughts & that so many have had good experiences after mcs.
Really happy to have hooked up to place where I can honestly express my fears and someone will get why I feel the way I do.
Good luck to all on the last stretch & look forward to good chats.
