Was getting into a stress about travel-systems of all things this week. Yes, have 15 weeks left, but just want to get everything sorted. Spent hours on t'internet looking for a good deal, and today have finally ordered one. Saw a good deal for a Quinny Senzz online, and managed to have a look at one in the flesh today at a local baby equipment show-room. Ordered a maxi-cosi car-seat separately, so have got the pushchair, carry-cot, raincover, footmuff and car-seat for a total of £260! Feeling very pleased with myself. Now I just need the next 15 weeks or so to go quickly, so that I have a baby to put in it! Have been feeling a bit low, for some unexplained reason, so a bit of retail therapy has given me a bit of a boost.

Was wondering if others have had this same experience:

When I broke the news to close friends and family, generally the reception has been very muted. Everyone was over the moon last time, but its all a bit low key this time and can't help but feel a bit disappointed.

On the up side though, have got booking in appointment tomorrow (Who knew the midwives did Sundays?) so thats exciting! It's super early this time, I think they want to keep an eye on how things develop.

Twitt I went 14 days over. I had 3 sweeps and ended up being induced by pessary. It really wasn't as bad as I thought, but the waiting was so terrible, you have my sympathies! Hope it happens naturally for you soon. I was reeking of clary sage and climbing every stair I possibly could.

I was drip induced 15 days late after 4 sweeps, it wasn't that bad! ;-)

Still waiting here .. it's good to hear induction wasn't too bad for either of you, Youremindme and Blackkat. I've said I don't want to be induced if at all possible so will be on daily monitoring next week if nothing happens. I started to feel some back and lower abdominal period type pains yesterday and thought something might start to happen, but nothing :( I'm also trying to think of the biggest steps in my city to go and climb! Haven't tried clary sage, maybe a trip to Neal's Yard today is needed!

Cosy - sorry to hear the reaction to your news was underwhelming. We hadn't told anyone when either m/c happened, so I haven't experienced anything similar. It is a difficult time, and you will probably be feeling fragile and sensitive which doesn't make these things any easier. I assume your family and friends know about your history? If that's the case, they are maybe unsure how to react given your past experience but hopefully they will be supportive in their own way, and as time goes on they will show more enthusiasm. I hope your appointment goes well today.

Hello everyone, I hope you dont mind but Ive been having a little read of some of your thread and its so nice to hear that many of you are in the final parts of your pregnancy CONGRATULATIONS!! I am currently 10weeks pregnant and completely freaking out (act sat on my sofa now having a little cry) I had a mmc in Feb (first pregnancy) and it was just completely heartbreaking, I was 13 weeks (or so I thought) and had just told people/started to show etc....the baby had died at 6/7 weeks but sadly my body kept hold of all its symptoms :( I am just so terrified that the same thing will happen this time. We paid for an early scan at 7 weeks and there was a HB and the doc said everything looked how it should, but I have now somehow managed to convince myself that the baby has died again. I am so ready to be a mum and my husband is so excited but I just cant get excited with him, I pretty much bit my mums head off too when she got excited for me on the phone....Im just so scared of it all being taken away from me again. Guess its tricky at the mo as would of originally been due Sept 3rd....so would be pretty big by now and gearing up to my last term at school (Im a teacher)....Just dont know if I would have the strength to try again if I was to have another mc??? Sorry for the long and probably very depressing post!..I have my NHS scan on the 20th....hopefully it will show a lovely baby x x x

Twitt - Hope that something happens for you tonight! I had to be induced with DD in the end as I was 15 days over and there was no signs that she wanted to come out at all. I tried everything that I could but she was just content I guess! TBH it wasn't that bad, as she was so overdue my labour only lasted an hour and a half and I managed to sleep through it!

Pie - They have not said what they are going to do apart from a scan in just over a week at 37 weeks. I also have really bad pelvic pain and have done for a while - nothing helps at all. I guess I will find out in just over a week and if I go into labour before then I need to rush to the hospital...no signs of that happening though. Enjoy your first week of maternity leave, I finish this Friday and cannot wait...too tired for work and want to get all organised. Have you got everything ready now? Bag packed?

Cosy hope that the booking appointment went well. I held off telling anyone until after 3 scans this time round so have not experienced similar, but as Twitt said I am sure that they will become more enthusiastic as time progresses.

Allchick - congratulations! There is a really good chance of success when you have had an early scan showing a heartbeat.

I had my midwife appointment on Thursday and she seems to think that the baby has turned, I must say that it does feel like he has and my bump has changed shape. Now just have to wait to see what happens about the extra fluid that has developed. I guess then a decision will be made on whether to induce me at hospital or let me try to go into labour naturally. She did say that as I am under consultant care I dont need to go and see her or the doctor for appointments which I thought was strange as I do not see the consultant that often. Has anyone else had this?

We have a beautiful baby boy

Baby Oliver was born on Friday morning by planned section and all is happy and well in the mouse household.

Going into theatre was a very strange experience; the anaesthetics team were brilliant (although it did take a while to get the spinal in!)

They played music and had clearly read my v brief birth plan as they lifted him out to show me and let us find out the sex ourselves. He was covered in vernix and already shouting! Utter joy.

Feeding is going well, although 2 days of a very hungry baby almost constantly feeding has left me a little sore (!) my milk is coming in now though so I'm sure it'll get better soon.

He's asleep on me now and I just want to say a massive, sentimental thank you to all of you lovely ladies who have supported me through the worst of times and now the best of times and helped me get this far. I cannot thank you enough xxxxxxx

I had another failed sweep today, my cervix is still very posterior at 12 days overdue. I'm so fed up and have been a bit tearful over the last couple of days, partly because I just want my baby and also because I'm not sure what decision to make around being induced. At the moment I've said I want to hold off, but at the same time I don't want to take any risks. confu3ed - it's helpful to hear your story of induction, sounds very positive! People have such different experiences though.

I have a date for my section . I'm so relieved! The little monkey has turned herself around and is now breech anyway! My notes are still not in the right hospital though, although they have been tracked down. My lovely counselling mw is driving the 10 miles to pick them up herself tomorrow so that they find their way to me. It means I've got to go back to see her next week, and to see the dr with them the week after! But I'VE GOT A SECTION DATE SO I DON'T CARE !

I am actually very nervous about my planned section. Last time I was out of it on pethadine, and exhausted, so it's a distant and vague memory, this time I will be very much aware and awake which does make me a bit anxious! Not sure why!

Come on baby twitt !!! I don't have any induction tales either i'm afraid but will be thinking of you and hoping your baby makes an appearance on their own.

confu3ed my bag is pretty much packed and ready to go should he/she make an appearance before the end of next week! And we have miraculously managed to agree on a boys and girls name!! I think your due date must be just behind mine? Did they say when they would induce you (if they have to?)

Twitt I actually refusedinduction at +11- routine here, and at +12 went for monitoring. It was a bit of an arse, involved being hooked up to a machine for 2 hours and had a pretty rough sweep by a hospital midwife who said she had a good rate of success! I did wake up in the night with pains, but went to sleep again- I do wonder whether I should have got up and got active... Never mind. I then asked for pessary rather than arm, and I explained I was keen to avoid a drip or arm. I only had to have one dose, although they would have given up to 3- and had baby less than 7 hours after the pessaries going in. I wouldn't be scared of talking to them- every midwife and doctor was happy with my decisions, although they did say that they would be less happy at +16. good luck- I will lurk for you!

Thanks Youremindmeofthebabe, I'm going in for monitoring on Wednesday for the first time (at +14) so will talk to them then. I think if nothing happens by Thursday or Friday I'd be keen to get things going - as much as I don't like the idea, I don't want to be worrying about the health of the baby. The pessary doesn't sound too bad so hopefully that will work for me, although I did want a water birth but I have been trying to prepare myself for all eventualities! I'm going for an acupuncture session tomorrow, will see what that brings! x

I've been a bit worried today, have had some light brown discharge. it could be the haematoma coming away, but i didn't know whether i should go and get checked out. It hasn't been much, so am probably worrying over nothing.

moomin how many weeks are you now? I had a week of on/off bleeding at 22 weeks. I never found out why! The haematoma that I'd had at 8 weeks had supposedly gone by 13, and my cervix was closed, plus the swabs they took came back clear. I'd speak to your mw to put your mind at rest though if nothing else.

Amandine, I'm 25+4 now. I remember you having that bleeding. I was warned when the haematoma was spotted at 10 weeks that I would likely experience bleeding as it resolved, but I hadn't had any further bleeding for 15 weeks. The haematoma was still there at my 20 week scan, so hadn't reabsorbed. I'm going to keep an eye on it, and probably call my midwife tomorrow.

Pie - well done on agreeing on names, we have 2 but are not agreed on which order to put them in! I am due 12th of July so a couple of weeks behind you. I have no idea when or if they will induce me, I guess at 38 weeks though so 2 weeks time. But could all change yet.

confu3ed My friend that had too much amniotic fluid was induced a day before 38 weeks as her pelvic pain was so bad. She doesn't remember there being a massive gush either when her waters broke.

Good luck with acu twitt, I do believe in the woo!! I went for acu after my MC and am sure it helped sort my body out.

twitwoo if you are induced and they get you on the drip, don't be afraid to ask for an epidural. I could cope to a point, but then they were too strong for me because I wasn't doing it naturally. I couldn't have given birth without it.Xx

twitt my experience sounds similar to yours, cervix still not easy to sweep at + 13, little madam was head down bit with head bent back. Refused induction at 12 like yrmotb and finally went into labour on the eve of day 15. Reflexology finally worked I think - and I was resigned to the fact I would be induced in the morning. (I'd been on traces on days 13 and 14) laboured at home for 18 hours, waters broke etc thn baby had a naughty poo so I was rushed in high risk and advised to have epidural and also drip induction so she could arrive ASAP. My much-wanted natural birth became anything but!
The induction wasn't bad, neither the delivery. The only thing I would do differently is accept induction at + 12 this time as when the placenta was delivered it was very degraded.

Blackkat our experiences do sound quite similar, thanks for sharing and I will take on board what you said about the condition of the placenta by 15 days over.

I'm less frightened of induction now after hearing quite a few positive stories, so thank you, ladies.

My mucus plug went this morning and I'm getting mild period type cramps, trying not to get my hopes up but fingers crossed it means something!

Yesterday I decided to get on with things instead of dwelling on being overdue so I'm meeting a friend this morning, going into town for acupuncture in the afternoon and tomorrow I have arranged to drive 35 minutes to work to see everyone before my hospital appointment. Maybe now that I have made all these plans something will begin!!

twitt things started moving very quickly for me once I lost my mucus plug! Fingers crossed! x

Last day at work and DS has been diagnosed with chicken pox! Bang goes a chilled out few days before my CS next Thursday!!
