accidentally took an ibruprofen
lost my temper with partner x 362 & counting
goat cheese tart incident
work stress
sleeping in wrong position
shouting rude words in road rage - daily
failing to wash bagged salad
occasional cheeky glass of wine
not playing classical music to bump
insomnia

According to research my child will be psychologically, emotionally and physically damaged in some way....the stress of the guilt should be added to the list ("~)

Wanking is no bad thing- orgasms release seratonin which gets passed onto the baby. Happy mum, happy baby, everyones a winner!

madmomma · 17/11/2011 23:41

shit diet,
forget vitamins,
overdose on rennies,
take antidepressants,
plenty of hot baths,
gender disappointment,
horrible to everyone,
bleach the toilet,
had antibiotics,
preg too soon after dc2 so no muscle tone & baby lying sideways,
fell flat on belly after feeling dizzy...
Poor child!

madmomma · 17/11/2011 23:45

bearcrumble I wanked constantly in my last pregnancy with that blue mega rabbit from ann summers & my son was fine. Still managed to be 2 weeks late aswell, so clearly did nothing to bring on labour although I did look anxiously for a dent in his head Grin

ProjectGainsborough · 18/11/2011 04:19

Ooh. Can I join in?

Fighting cravings for Coke (a Cola, not the powdery stuff - that would be wrong)
Being vile to DH
Exremely struggling to limit tea intake
Not realising parma ham is vorboden
Probably drank a little bit over my limit on holiday (in my defense I live in a dry country and the thought of a glass of wine with dinner was irresistable in lovely drunk, civilised Europe). But I have been alcohol-free for the other 25 weeks!
Not making it to pg yoga for 4 weeks on the trot

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 18/11/2011 07:17

Drinking a bit more than 1-2 units once or twice a week, most weeks
Eating a LOT of serrano ham on holiday in Spain
Having at least one strong coffee a day and a few cups of tea
Spending a whole day just lying on the sofa watching true blood when DH was away and DM took DS for the weekend
Being impatient and snapping at DS (partly his fault for waking me at 5am)
Slight gender disappointment

galonthefarm · 18/11/2011 10:20

still sleeping on my front - hoping haven't squashed no 2!
never remembering to wash any salad/ fruit/ veg til have already eaten it...
too many diet cokes
falling off horse badly 2 days before finding out was pg and taking really strong painkillers. had scan since and all ok we think but still feel bad
rare steak. just can't eat it well done!

am I really bad? on plus side am doing yoga so does this cancel it out??

Lady - when you're pregnant you need more iodine - table salt is enriched with iodine which is probably why you're craving it. So no guilt needed Smile

HannahBerry · 18/11/2011 10:42

I feel guilty about taking self- prescribed 2 days off work for "bed rest".

But I did have some bleeding that all turned out OK in a scan!

Feel bad for my colleagues who'll have to pick up my work load for two days. I'm sure that they suspect the worst!

VikingLady · 18/11/2011 11:02

Useful info from the paediatrician FIL - you need the salt to develop its nervous system properly. If you are craving it, you need it. As long as your blood pressure is OK....

But apparently we can't have it in bacon form. Sad

HugosGoatee · 18/11/2011 11:09

Oh yes Hannah - work-related-guilt is a whole new level of guilt!

Either I'm working too hard and not prioritising the baby, or I'm slacking off and taking the piss!

I had 8 days off when my morning sickness peaked and the guilt was immense. Don't regret it though and would advise anyone suffering to take the time needed to feel 100%. Yes you'll feel guilty but who gives.

allhailtheaubergine · 18/11/2011 11:22

Am I supposed to be feeling guilty about all this stuff?

JobCarHouseNoBaby · 18/11/2011 11:35

I'm a serial lurker as hoping to start TTC in the next 12-18 months....

Can I just clarify, is Diet Coke on the forbidden list? I LIVE on the stuff - what's in it that harms baby?

sillymillyb · 18/11/2011 11:42

I used to live on the stuff too.... atleast 6 cans a day (I know, I know) apparently the artificial sweetner aspartame is bad for the baby. I have cut down alot..... but god I miss it. Think its like all above though, you have to make it work with your lifestyle. Ahhh you have made me want some now!

lottielou39 · 18/11/2011 11:49

lol, I've eaten 'forbidden' stuff in plentiful quantities too!
We need Myleene Klass to tell us what to do girls:

Gigondas · 18/11/2011 11:56

diet coke has caffeine in which is ok in moderation (I can't remember what limits are but its basically meant to keep to below 2/3 filter coffees a day esp in early weeks due to miscarriage risk). it also has artificial sweetener in it which there are various studies on risk here (I am not sure how conclusive these are regarding pregnancy but if you're a real strict pregnancy health type its probably not on the list).

second pregnancy - have eaten undercooked steak, soft cheese, occasionally slept in wrong position -have been not so careful nor so guilty as with first pregnancy.

Gigondas · 18/11/2011 11:57

although in scheme of things diet coke probably pales next to the woman i worked with who used to sink several cans of red bull a day when pregnant. I don't need to be miriam stoppard to think that is probably not the best.

Gigondas · 18/11/2011 11:59

and work related guilt vickee not as bad second time - it might be cos I had bleeding and threatened miscarriage early on but frankly a few days working at home/leaving early /appointments in work time are worth it if baby healthy.

the rage thing I have no help on - they have the Children in need song on at the moment, despite good cause, I am feeling the rage at the massacre of a good song.

msbuggywinkle · 18/11/2011 12:05

Bugger all exercise,
Too much sugar,
Runny eggs from my unvaccinated chickens.

Although I don't feel guilty at all really, I've had a much harder pregnancy this time round and I need some pleasures! I wouldn't think to put too much wanking on the list, how can I feel guilty about that when it is the pregnancy hormones that make me do it!

Bearcrumble · 18/11/2011 12:15

Right, I'm off to stand near a goat and have a wank.

dobbybono · 18/11/2011 12:26

peanut butter on tost and a delicious peanut butter omelette! yum,

flyingcloud · 18/11/2011 12:52

Bearcrumble - snorting with laughter here.

DH brought goats home early on in this pregnancy - I tried to use pregnancy as an excuse for him to get rid of them, but couldn't find anything to suggest they were dangerous - only if they had serious problems carrying babies to term was I to worry and AFAIAA they were not pregnant. Other advice said not to milk them and drink their milk.

They smelled so bad that I kept a healthy distance at all times.

Sheep are worse, I think.

mrssweetpotato · 18/11/2011 12:54

I love you all! (and I feel like a saint compared to most of you Smile )
Still convinced that I've ruined my unborn child's life and I haven't done any of these things! Well OK I did have a glass of prosecco the other day. And a ready meal 5 days past its sell by date... in fact I expect this list would go on and on if I hadn't also erased all memory of my misdemeanours... add 'dishonesty and repression' to my parenting faliures...
