I thought for sure someone else would have posted this before me! I am 5 weeks along (sounds so insignificant.....) and am seeing my doctor tomorrow to get things going. Am really excited and am hoping that things go well! According to those pregnancy charts, my edd is June 12.
So come on mumsnetters, who else is joining me here?!

cathncait · 10/10/2003 01:11

hi guys..just did a test yesterday and guess i am about 4-5 weeks too. A bit of a surprise but not entirely I suppose. Not sure of due date..will go to the doc sometime soon I guess. Have you 2 got other kids already?
congrats to you!
Cath

juelgaz · 10/10/2003 12:56

Hi everyone,
I am also 4-5 weeks pregnant, due date 17th June.
I have been ttc since january, and am over the moon that I am now pregnant.
I am feeling really well, although rather tired!, but I am 37, and do have 3 children (2 mine, and 1 from my partners first marriage), so really that is to be expected.
I am trying to keep it a secret at the moment, so being able to post to you all is great.
Congratulations to you all!

Skara · 10/10/2003 14:44

Hi everyone, I have been contemplating starting this thread for a week but chickened out! I'm nearly 7 weeks with no.3 but had a mc at 7 weeks earlier this year so I'm a bit paranoid this time round about typing it and making it real. Edd is the 7th of June and unlike last time I'm starting to feel pretty queasy which has to be a good sign! This baby was unplanned but is a lovely surprise after a difficult year

hana · 10/10/2003 18:58

I knew I wasn't the only one! Great big congratulations to Bogwoppit, cathncait ,juelgaz and Skara!! I know all pregnancies are special, but when you've been ttc as long as some of you have, well, an extra special congratulations. What a great feeling it must be.
This will be my fourth pregnancy but (hopefully) my second little baby. Really am feeling positive about everything.
I saw my doctor today, have been refered to the EPU for an early scan, and then the standard referrals. So I'm in the system. Have to say, I passed on the copy of 'Emma's Diary' this time! Have only told mum and hubby, and 3 different friends have already guessed. When you're ttc I guess it's an obvious question, and with the problems we'd had in the past, these people have been wonderful. So - couldn't lie to them.
What a fantastic feeling!
Have a great weekend,
hana

HI I found out on Friday that I am expecting baby nummber two. My dd is 7. Had a diffcult pregnancy with her so am a bit anxious and am hoping that things go smoothly this time.
My edd is roughly 16th June.
We are moving to Cyprus in January so just hope I can cope with the heat whilst pregnant!!!
CONGRATULAION TO ALL OF YOU

Cavy · 14/10/2003 11:49

Hi, I'm expecting mid-june, something like 5-6 weeks now. Not totally sure because my cycle was erratic when I conceived. I'm a regular MN poster but this isn't my usual chatname because nobody in real life else knows about me being pregnant, yet. Especially DH because right now I'm peeved at him. I feel like keeping the good news to myself. Blame the hormones. I know he'll figure it out when I start being sick. it will be nice to share my little secret here, though.

pollingfold · 16/10/2003 11:11

Congratulations to all of us. I too have just found out that June (17th same as Juelgaz) is the expected month - although given the very late arrival of my DS I will probably fall into July. Its all a bit of a suprise... have had cycles of 55 days previously then this one was suddenly 35 (doing temping so knew ov had occurred), but only had BD 3 days prior to it not thinking it was the right time. Does anyone believe in the whole when you have BD links to the sex of the child. I.e girly sperm are slow swimmers but last longer, and boy quicker but die after a couple of days? If thats the case I should start buying pink, but got cupboards full of blue from DS.

Azure · 16/10/2003 12:34

Congratulations to all of you! I hope you all sail through your pregnancies.

Cavy · 16/10/2003 13:41

By that logic, Pollingford, I should expect a girl, too. Only right now I like the boy name I have in mind better than girl alternatives, though all I truly want is a healthy baby. How about this... I have been feeling a bit queasy but yesterday I got to hold a 4 week-old baby for about 20 minutes, and my sickness passed right off! Is it possible that holding very little babies kicks off something hormonal that stops morning sickness? I'm going to go work in a maternity ward, if so.

pollingfold · 16/10/2003 14:20

Cavy

Have you let DH know yet? Am amazed that you can keep this to yourself, obviously bar telling us.

With regards the sickness, it was probably beause you were concentrating on holding it so much, and imaging what yours will be like. In other cicumstances, (when no small baby to hand), try ginger nut biscuits - ginger is supposed to suppress morning sickness and how can you refuse a biscuit. Have stocked up office drawer with them in preparation.

Cavy · 16/10/2003 17:28

No I haven't told DH yet -- I'm being a horribly immature little girl about it. Why are men so bad at keeping track of details? He knew we had unprotected sex last month and I was holding my breath to see if my period would happen. I'm at least 10 days overdue.

Unfortunately I know ginger biscuits don't work for me; nothing helps me much with morning sickness. But they say every pregnancy is different, so fingers crossed morning sickness won't be so bad this time.

hana · 17/10/2003 19:03

There seem to be more of us each day! Am feeling tired, but that may also have something to do with running after dd all day......
I have a scan booked for late next week, I'll only be 7 weeks along, so it's an 'assurance scan' due to my previous problems. Pretty excited, but there is still a big part of me waiting for something to go wrong. I do that 'panty check' every time I go to the loo which is awful.
Glad to see there are more of us expecting in June. What a great time to have a baby - not terribly hot before the baby is born, and then plesant summery days (lets hope) out with our little ones. Wishful thinking?!

Bogwoppit · 17/10/2003 19:24

Hana thank god I'm not the only one doing a panty check!
I had such a horrid weird dream last night about miscarrying. I think I am paranoid after last time.
My trousers felt really tight today - surely I can't be getting a bump already?
& I am tired too - fell asleep just now in the lounge!!
Off to the doctors on Tues cos that is the earliest they could fit me in. Guess they'll have to let ACU know I won't need my referral!

juelgaz · 17/10/2003 21:30

Great to hear that there are so many others with June to look forward to. I too do the panty check, and even nip to the loo with out needing to go, just to do it! what are we like? Hope everyone is feeling ok. I am fine other than tired and a little queesy from time to time.

cathncait · 18/10/2003 01:55

Yay! Look how many of us there are! I am Excited! I guess we all sem to do that 'panty check' - yep , me too! I have figured out my due date now - 13th June. God I hope this one is on time - dd (15months) was 13 days overdue then got induced. That sucked!
Good luck to everyone and congrats. Keep us updated as time goes by

karen01 · 18/10/2003 23:33

Went to the doctors on Friday asked if they do dating scans were I am and they said no, so I am going to speak to the midwife when I see her, and see if they will give me one. The doctor did say that he is going to refer me straight to the consultant this time due to problem with first pregnancy. So maybe he/she will do one!!

Anyone know what the ante natal care is like in cyprus or have any ideas how i can find out.

juelgaz · 19/10/2003 10:36

Hi Karen01,
I also had a bad experience with my last pregnancy, I actually had a termination after downs was diaognosed. My midwives, consultant, and GP have been brilliant this time, even though it is early days, I have a dating scan arranged for the 29th October, and will then be referred to a specialist unit for care regarding the possibility of downs again. If you are worried or anxious, please speak to your midwife. In my experience they are very caring and understanding, more so when you have had previous problems. As for care in Cyprus, havent got a clue, but one thing for sure, it will be a lot warmer than here. Take care.

karen01 · 19/10/2003 13:35

Thanks Juelgaz, thanks for the advice. my last pregnancy was seven years ago and I had Spontaneous Premature Rupture of Membranes at 20 weeks and Placenta Insufficiency (spelling??) from 25 weeks onwards. Was very lucky as DD didn't come until 35 wks when the Drs decided she needed to come out rather than stay. My litle miricale if you like. Maybe I am being paranoid but I am anxious this time round as expecting it to happen again!! I know all pregnancies are different so here is hoping for the pair of us. Hopefully I will hear from the midwife this week or beginning of next.

Take care

Cavy · 20/10/2003 10:36

No kidding, K01, what a miracle.

I was sick this morning, first time; it wasn't bad at all, though. Just came on very suddenly and haven't felt bad since. DH STILL DIDN'T NOTICE. This is getting comical.

Please excuse my ignorance, but why get early scans (like 7 wks, whatever)? I thought they weren't reliable for dating purposes, and can they help prevent miscarriage in any way?

I don't do the panty check thing, by the way; don't have that symptom! But I have "the spits" -- I salivate excessively, especially when I feel queasy. Since I haven't bothered with a pregnancy test I look at my tummy, it looks the same as ever, can I really be pregnant? But then I have the spits, and no way I would psycho-somatic myself into that disgusting symptom, so it must be pregnancy hormones.

karen01 · 20/10/2003 16:24

Cavy, I don't think they can prevent miscarriages but to me it makes the pregnancy more real, as part of me doesn't beleive I am until I see it ( exactly the same as I felt last time). Not sure if that makes any sense to anyone else!!!

When do you think you will tell DH? It was my darling husband that told me I was pregnant before I did the test, I did have a feeling, not quite sure how he knew as this is his first. We were lucky as only got married in August and then decided to try for a baby straight away as age gap for DD is already to big, or so I feel.

hana · 20/10/2003 17:33

Cavy,
an early scan of course won't prevent a m/c. For women like myself who have had lost more than 1 baby, it's very reassuring at this early stage. Anything could happen, and it would already be in the cards at this stage, but I certainly am waiting for Thursday and then will have a big sigh of relief when I know everything is ok, at least up until now.
I'm worrying a lot more with this pregnancy already, and I'm just 7 weeks. I was spotting slightly early today at work, and the shock of that and what it might be was awful. Felt like going home, but only had a couple of lessons left. I'm ok now, at least think I am, and it's only 2 days until they see me at the EPU. So fingers crossed until then.
Now then.........has your hubby guessed yet? You've got to tell him, I'd be dying with excitement!

I'm so sorry to hear about your spotting, Hana. I'll be thinking of you & hoping for the best.

I'm opposite from you & K01: If I had a scan, and then I miscarried, I'd be that much more upset because I was betrayed by the "false" reassurance of the scan.

I haven't told DH; I am terrified of being as sick this pregnancy as I was last time and not telling DH gives me something to focus on besides how sick am I feeling, do I feel like throwing up right now, etc.

hana · 21/10/2003 14:32

It's difficult with the scan thing Cavy, you're absolutely right, I could be ok today and then what happens if I spot later on in the week? And you can't have scans everyday. I have an appt to see my GP in an hour, not sure what she can do ( been told she could check my cervix - ?? if it is still closed or something) and it's just another day until the scan. So it's wait and see. Still some spotting, but not bright red, so maybe that's a good thing. I'm hoping anyway.
Sorry you're feeling sick, that must be an awful feeling - all the time. Yuk. Have you tried any of the remedies floating about? Lots of women swear by ginger cookies, have you tried them?
