the last film of harry potter is coming out within the next week or so. hence wizard hats.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 09/07/2011 13:26

Oh I see Blush

I must be the only person in the world who hasnt seen them or read the books.

Grin
cep · 09/07/2011 13:34

coconuts probably or at least there's probably a select group. Grin

CollieandPup · 09/07/2011 14:58

wiw YAY for great scan! Team yellow still? And glad the move went ok.

orange and pink how is using the ball going? Dh bought me one early on, but I've not used it yet, assuming it's more for later. What stage should you start using it?

izzy TT sounds great. I was offered a ticket for the Manchester show at the last minute and wascv tempted but decided not too in the end. Was gutted as sounded great but it was outside and it just threw it down for the duration so good thing I didn't really!!! My guilty secret is I have loved Gary Barlow (even if he is a Tory) since before they split up, and was one of the 10 people that bought his solo album and played it- to the dismay of all my friends!! Smile

I think that indicates that the standard f music played in my car is not high! I actually listened to Scouting for Girls on the way home last night.... And screeched sang along!!! Although I do also like a bit of Jazz

pink sorry you had a crappy day at work on weds. I too can easily be pushed into emotional loon these days. A combination of lack of sleep last night and too much time to mental about things resulted in DH waking in the middle of the night because a) I couldn't sleep (pathetic) and b) I had convoked myself I am useless at being pregnant, don't know what I'm doing and am therefore going to harm the baby before it even comes out! (totally irrational)

cep happy birthday sweet for yesterday. Did you have a nice day? Hope you enjoyed your meal out? Did you get anything nice. I admire your restraint on buying things too. I think I'd have gone out and bought it anyway too, but also know it's easy to say that and it's sometimes really not worth it. I hope he comes around soon.

blackkat hope you're enjoying sunny Spain. Sounds lovely!

lady how are you today? No more bleeding I hope.

Yay for wombat exchanging! How exciting!

owl Yippee for Mat leave!!!!! Great stuff! Has the nesting started yet? I'm so Envy I've re-thought my mat leave plans from 38 wks to 37. And also plan to work from home 2 days a week from 35 wks.

yrmotb glad to see you've dived in and added yourself to the list!

Lara very impressed at your early morning swims! I was supposed to go to pilates this morning but slept in! Did you ask about the Geni? It's ok. It's more comfy than pillows but tbh I'm still not sleeping well. I don't think thats down to the pillow though I think it's just a mixture of being uncomfy, heat, needing a wee and just plain old insomnia. I'm lucky if i sleep through 2-3 nights a week. I think that was the major contributing factor to my midnight wobble last night. I'm just always so tired and it makes work and the commute so difficult. I just want to be able to enjoy this stage.

Don't worry about lack of kicks either Lara I only really had the odd faint movement and that totally disappears days before my scan. I'd say stronger movement came at shout 20 1/2 weeks but I still can't always feel him and also think it's early.

Lol coconuts at Halloween comment!! Grin

Bought a Graco electric travel cot off eBay and pick it up today. Comes with changing table too which will be handy as don't intend to buy a changing table. Very impressed with myself for making the purchase! Still umming and ahing about the pram. Quinny Buzz is now out! It's between the Cameleon and iCandy Peach. Prefer the look of the bugaboo but need to check reviews on Peach again. I'm so indecisive!

CollieandPup · 09/07/2011 15:02

opps missed the last page! coconuts I've ever read the books and only seen the films in the last year or so. I dont really get the big fuss either. Didn't like e last and won't be bothering with this one. My local cinema s showing ALL of them all day on Sunday!!! I can just see people turning up in wizard dress now..... And I'm not joking!!!!

cep · 09/07/2011 15:06

collie you can't just not watch the very last one. the last one was only pt 1 (haven't seen it yet got it for my birthday) if you've seen all the others you've got to watch the last one.

CollieandPup · 09/07/2011 15:09

That's what my mum said but I can't actually remember what happened in the last 2 so it would mean t least watching the last o e again, and I didn't like it the first time around. Probably bcs I couldnt remember what happened in thevone before!!! Grin Yes, I AM one of those people who is forever asking 'what's going on' during a film!!!! Lol

OrangeGloss · 09/07/2011 15:36

Collie I'm finding the ball very comfy will find out next week if miniO has moved I suppose. Well done on the purchase! Why is the Quinny out? that's what we have. Everyone's taste is different I'm just paranoid of having made the right/wrong choice. You seem like you're doing an excellent job of being pg and looking after pup

I'll be watching Harry Potter [hgrin] I went through all the books on audio when I was doing my old 3.5 hour round trip daily commute and they kept me entertained

We've just spent the day buying baby stuff, I had a bit of a wobble and needed a hug but we still bought pretty much everything to start us off. We got a Freddie the Firefly instead of Captain Calamari tho :) I showed my knitting pattern to a nice woman in John Lewis and she sorted me out with some nice cotton yarn and the right size needles, so I'm good to go Grin

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 09/07/2011 15:49

Ooh orange freddie the firefly is on my Amazon wishlist, along with the feet and wrist rattle sock things and the Flip Flop Bug. I just love Lamaze!!

Well done on the purchases, and a wobble is normal, I have many everytime I or anyone else buys anything.

collie Glad I'm not the only one who isn't that bothered by HP. I prefer the look of the iCandys, would have loved the strawberry if I could afford it. DH saw an icandy about in town the other day and commented how he liked it and that we should have got that, until I told him how much it would be! Grin

I have never seen the Twilight films either and apparently I should be drooling over the characters or something Hmm There is just something about magic/vampires/other such imaginary drivel that I really don't like!! Grin

cep I must have missed that it was your birthday yesterday. Hope you had a great day :) :)

Have had to go to bed for a nap this afternoon. Feel so tired and dizzy, think I must be anemic so looking forward to results Tuesday so I can get some iron in me. Thinking of buying some Spatone instead of taking the tablets they'll prescribe me. Anyone used that? Does it take long to get in the system?

LaraandLittleBean · 09/07/2011 19:22

Hey Ladies

Quick hello to you all... (as I wait for DH to come back from getting a Chinese takeaway!)

I haven't seen or read any of the HPs - not interested in the slightest... I am also utterly repulsed by vampire stuff....

Love, love, love all the talk of shopping..

Thanks for reassurances re. lack of kicking and also the advice on thrush... Can report all is better in that department today...

Off to google Lamaze stuff while I wait for food (am ravenous)

cep · 09/07/2011 20:05

i read the first few books before the films came out and really enjoyed them. i haven't heard them on tape but apparently they are really good. I don't watch the twilight thing either.

i had to actually look at who freddie the firefly and captain calamari were. I really need to have a look at what baby toys we have, i can't remember, but as i got moaned at earlier for getting the car seat and carrycot bit out, so i could check the sheets still fit the mattress we bought back then and hadn't shrunk i also wanted to make sure everything was still ok after being in the attic, probably best not to for a while. Am fed up with constantly being told it's too early for me to be doing anything yet.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 09/07/2011 20:21

CEP - at 23 weeks, if you feel ready to buy something then do it :)

cep · 09/07/2011 20:45

coconuts it is getting to that point. I like the look of the pacapods, and dh is moaning at the idea of me spending my birthday money on one, and trust me it's not cause he wants to buy it for me. Smile.

owlbooty · 09/07/2011 21:09

It's amazing what you can function on, honest. I'm looking forward to Owlet turning up so I can get some sleep. Grin

CollieandPup · 09/07/2011 22:27

lara hope you enjoyed your Chinese! We've just had one too abs I've just finished stuffing myself silly on enough food to feed a family Colliepup is now going mental of all the e numbers!!!

owl I class a night of sleeping through as one which doesn't consist of me lying their for hours awake. As long as I get back to sleep after my minimum of 2 wees a night, I class getting up for them as sleeping through. If I can't sleep I'm a bloody nightmare! I need a wee, then a drink, then a wee.... And so it goes until I've practically used up a toilet roll!!! Lol. I feel your pain!

Daisybell1 · 10/07/2011 09:33

Morning!

So are these balls good then? Do I need to get a certain size? I'm 5'7"

Orange Yay for the shopping trip! You've done so well to get everything!!! Fantastic!

Coconuts I thought they were halloween smileys too (although I thought they'd been designed specially for some of the witchy comments that you see on other boards)

Collie there's nowt wrong with Scouting for Girls, and I like a bit of jazz myself - saw Jools Holland last year and he was the BEST.

Cep Happy birthday!!!!

Why have I never heard of Lamaze before?!?!?!?!?!?!

Disturbed nights are common with me too - if I wake at 2ish I can just doze and snuggle my pillow until I drift off again. If I wake at about 4, then that's me screwed for the rest of the night.

And the phrase of the day here is "buggery buggery bollocks". OH confessed last night that I'd let it slip that we're Team Pink, and he caught me so off guard I couldn't deny it anymore. He is completely delighted though and is Grin from ear to ear.

2nd ante-natal class was better yesterday - different midwife who was a lot more organised and practical. She's also written into my notes that I need to have an extended stay in the unit so I can stop fretting now about being chucked out early.

They also brought in a baby who'd been born that afternoon. Everyone else was cooing away but I just shut down - that's an overactive defence mechanism, right?

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 10/07/2011 09:52

cep I just had to google Pacapods. OMG, now I want one!! They look so nice but so useful... adds to shopping list Grin If you want to buy something, seriously go for it. Even if it is one baby gro, you'll feel like you've taken a huge step.

daisy never heard of Lamaze? You have now Grin So pleased OH is happy you're team pink, now you don't have to knit in secret!! Pleased the class went better but with the new baby thing, yes definitely defence mechanism. I was the same the other day. I held my friends baby at arms length and gave him back as I felt like I didn't know what to do with him at all. Didn't go all gooey or coo over him, he wasn't remotely cute to me. Just someone elses baby.

Nightimes are awful for me too at the mo. Once i'm asleep, no problems, tend to stay comfy and never need a wee in the night (yet) but it's just getting to sleep that is the problem. As soon as I go to go to sleep I get restless legs so I'm kicking and tossing and turning for about two hours waiting for it to go away. I sit up, lay down roll all round, stand up, get back in, nothing works. I effing hate Restless Legs.

Daisybell1 · 10/07/2011 10:18

Have also just had to google pacapod - gorgeous!!!

Am now browsing Lamaze - sooo cool!

Thank you Coconuts, yes, I have now abandoned the stealth knitting project, and was able to openly unpack the bag of clothes the MW gave me. They're still a bit pink though but at least I can wash them here now.

Glad its not just me reacting to babies like that Coconuts - I found myself looking away with a little voice inside saying "don't show any emotion, don't cry, don't be jealous". One more for the counsellor I think Hmm

ladybird33 · 10/07/2011 21:30

I just wanted to say goodbye for now to all you lovely ladies. Thanks for letting me gate-crash your grads thread. You have been so helpful and supportive and I've loved being involved in your chats, but I feel like a bit of an impostor so I'm going to go back to my rightful place on the pre-grads thread for the time being. I haven't had any bleeding for the last few days and I'm getting to grips with the cramps, so I'm hoping I will be back to join you all in a few weeks (months?) I have my 12 week scan on Thursday so please keep your fx for me... To Owl and Nickster and others who are imminently about to pop, the very best of luck with it all - I know you will be fabulous Mummies. (My tip: take your own pillow to hospital if you can get your DP to carry it - hospital ones are awful and it is nice to have something that smells like home....) Hopefully I will be back to chat with the rest of you soon...

PinkFondantFancy · 10/07/2011 21:55

Best of luck for your scan on Thurs lady, come back and join us whenever you're ready. Really hope the bleeding stays away now and gives you a chance to relax!!

coconuts and daisy I'm fine with babies, I think because I still feel so far removed from then, but I still have ridiculous pregnant woman envy. My SIL just put a pic of her 18 week mini bump on Facebook and I was all Envy Envy - WTF??? I have a growing bump of my own!! I am truly ridiculous.... Sad

Sorry for lack of catch up v v tired will hopefully get more time to read back on the train tomorrow

owlbooty · 11/07/2011 10:41

Note to self; hoeing the garden is not clever. Argh my stomach muscles.

Ladybird we will save you a beanbag for when you feel brave enough to come back - and keep everything crossed that your scan goes really, really well :)

Pink I still feel like that and I am now so hooge that my maternity jeans won't go round my middle. Grin It is ridiculous, yes, but I do wonder if for us it's more the envy of them having this beautiful carefree skippy happy 9 months whereas we haven't had that. I still prod Owlet every morning when I wake up to check he's okay. Thankfully he's now of a size that he can't dodge my poking finger and thus tends to grumble and roll over which means I can get on with my day without having a massive freak out.

daisy and coco other people's babies do very little for me either - newborns all look like Yoda anyway :) I did hold a particularly cute little boy the other week when I met up with some friends and there was a moment of 'ooh. I should have one of these soon.' but in all honesty it's been difficult enough getting my head around the idea that I am about to have a baby full stop, let alone what the flip I will do with him when he turns up. It's all very odd and a bit scary.

re. birth ball size - I've got a 75cm one because I have freakishly long legs and a short body so the 65cm was a bit small for me; having said that I've underinflated the ball so it's moderately squishy. At pilates class I use a 65cm one and it is okay. I'm 5ft5.

Loooong post, I shall shut up now. All this talk of bacon butties and chinese takeaway is making me hungry. I might have to go and have second breakfast. Grin

bigmacandhappymeal · 11/07/2011 13:01

I was up to my eyes in it with work last week and have been trying to catch up - hello all and sorry if i don't namecheck all or properly

20 week scan this afternoon at 2.50 so I am mentalling like a goodun. Spent yesterday doing chore after chore and tired myself out to the extent that I had a toddler-esque cry at 8. FX please for a good scan result.

Cep belated happy birthday!
Owl love the idea of you prodding the Owlet each morning
daisy you are not alone - I also can't cope with others small babies/baby showers etc etc

Music is an interesting thing isn't it. (Was it Lara talking about someone playing Mozart?). I went to see Elton John the other week. I loved it and HappyMeal was having a lovely time wriggling, particularly to Bitch is Back, which I thought was hilarious. Last week we went to see the considerably cooler Eels. Also brilliant but there was not a murmur, wriggle or movement from HappyMeal. Curious. Perhaps I shall try Neil Diamond Vs AN Other cool band and see what happens.

Before I head off to mental some more, can I recommend topshop maternity leggings? I'm never going back now. FX all is well with the HappyMeal I'm always going to wear leggings that reach the undercarriage of my now enormous bosom. Even if I don't need to.

mental mental mental

LaraandLittleBean · 11/07/2011 14:01

Helloooooo Ladies...

Quick post as I ride my high on M&S Colin the Caterpillar mallow sweets!!!

BigMac - how tf did your 20 week scan come around so fast?! Good luck! Mine is still a century away (9 days to be precise - not very impressed). Are you finding out the flavour? Quite Envy that you have been feeling so much movement... I am convinced the odd murmurs I get are just stifled farts.

Oh dear....

Courtesy of Cep, I now want a Pacapod. Was totally oblivious to them until yesterday. As I was to Lamaze and now I want everything from their site.

Re. baby holding, I am not ashamed to admit that I have no interest whatsoever in other people's babies (apart from all yours of course; you know what I mean). I can't make the connection either and recently when I do make a connection, the feeling that goes through me is pure terror. I am fully confident though that it will all be different with my flesh and blood.

It's old chat now but I haven't slept all the way through since my BFP. I am now weeing less (twice on average now per night) but I toss and turn like anything and wake up due to aches in bump, back or sides. I started my sleep last night very obediently on my left side, dream genii all in place. I then woke up two hours later on my back with two pillows on my bump. Oh dear...

My work chair is bloody uncomfortable today. Getting me moody again. DH goes to Germany on biz tomorrow... Plan to line-up an evening of shoddy TV. Life on the edge.

Oops - wasn't such a short post. Caterpillar high now over.

Ooh - before I go.... Am convinced worried I will get diagnosed with gestational diabetes in a few weeks time (PCOS plus South East Asian heritage). Is it utterly wrong that I am now indulging in sweets / choc now in blissful ignorance before a harsh dietary regime is imposed on me until the end of time????

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 11/07/2011 14:06

Lara - I'm doing exactly the same! Convinced it'll be bad news tomorrow so have been eating terribly this weekemd!!

toomuchteaching · 11/07/2011 14:41

So for ages I've been meaning to come back and delete Jemima's middle names, not totally sure why but anyway. The most recent list was last week so I hope I haven't messed it up, although there's an issue with September babies and days, I wasn't sure who was actually right so I've left it as is.

Congrats to new BFPs, I hope you're managing not to mental too much! And waves to the top of the list, there's some very close babies there... good luck, it'll be great.

Life on the other side is lovely, really fab. We're approaching 6 months and J is a smiley, happy baby. Today she managed a juicy slice of peach and loved it! Still not sleeping through, but we'll get there.
