new thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wombatinwaiting · 15/06/2011 18:56

Heavens apple - if at your stage you can't have a me, me post then I don't know who can! Fingers crossed miniapple makes a surprise appearance before next sunday.

It's really lovely to hear from you dachs and I like the new name too - much admiration for you and mrdachs for your strength and keeping everything crossed for success in August (and a good knee op too).

Thanks for the reassurance on the inbetween orange - 17 weeks tomorrow and reeeeeeally hoping for some kicks or something fluttery soon. I still can't equate even the 3d image of bean to something that is inside me....

Now when can we all get round to owls for a slap-up home grown meal?! Can't believe you can have any constipation issues with all that wonderful fibre around you!

Freezingmyarseoff · 15/06/2011 21:00

Dachs I don't really know you very well, (I think we crossed very briefly on the TTC MC thread) but I have been following your tragic news. I just needed to say what an amazing person you are for being so strong.

And also, we just got back from Italy too, the icecream is AMAZING - mmmm, enjoy.

Sorry about the knee, sounds painful.

I guess since I'm here I'll wave to everyone I know
Owl your garden sounds fantastic, I'm v Envy

Good luck to Apple - come on miniapple!

OrangeGloss · 16/06/2011 06:35

Apples I hope you had a dream-free nights sleep. Sorry about the lack of sweep c'mon miniapple show yourself! I think you're perfectly entitled to be me me me so come in and talk away! Have you been to the hospital before? I haven't been to either myself yet
Owl wow I'm very impressed and a little Envy my courgettes aren't looking too good, they've gone a pale green and a bit limp but seem to be flowering Hmm my tomatoes are the star of the show. Mmm sherbet I've been on the Haribo Tangfastics :)
Nix good work on the patching up and being the better person, then hopefully you'll sell quickly and never have to see them again Grin
Thanks Cep :)
WIW I didn't until my 20 week scan, when I felt movement and saw it on screen at the same time, it kinda made my brain believe it. Hopefully not long now

DH managed to ring me last night so that's cheered me up :) miniorange seemed to be having some kind of disco through the night which helped too, I'd love to have a window into there. I have to confess.... I have to drive myself to work today and not driven on my own for 3 years Shock Blush but it's just too damn far to walk now [nervous emoticon]

Ps anyone else really not like the new MN mobile format?!

CollieandPup · 16/06/2011 08:30

dachs so lovely to hear from you. Thinking about you lots, but thought you might have already gone to Venice. Of course you are still heartbroken, you must be. But also so very very brave and strong, I think we are all in awe of you and mr dachs. Good luck Friday picking up the ring, I am sure it is beautiful. Not long now until your much deserved holiday, I hope you indulge in the food and wine and get some r&r. I sincerlely wish you the best of luck for IVF in August, I think your so brave to have the strength to start again already. I'll also have every crossed for you both.

apple [amile] at you cuddling clothes, that's soo cute. sorry you didn't get a sweep today. Don't be sorry for feeling down, IM(limited)E everyone I have known at your stage has felt the same. Uncomfy and desperate for the baby to come and wracked with nerves about it at the same time. Fx mini apple comes over the weekend and you don't need the sweep.

dasiy how is your tummy? Hope its better.

emoo all those nosebleeds suck! I had my first this week. Could this be a sign of low iron then?

tunnocks loveky to hear from you I've been thinking about you over in the FO room. Glad you're doing well and are having no more bleeding. Envy at you feeling kicking at 17.5 wks. I thought I coujd feel the odd flutter about a week ago but all seems to have stopped which I've been mentalling about how do you know you have an anterior placent?

Grin @ nix and owl realising how far up the list they are! Yay! Come on mininix, get turning!!

Loving that People are plucking up the courage to buy stuff. I went out last night and had a shopping spree for some mat gear. Apart from a couple of 2nd hand cheapies off eBay and one new thing from mamas and papas, I've not got anything as been in complete denial of need. However nothing fits and I have friends staying this weekend so must get out of my sweaty jog pants! Also thinking might visit mamas and papas on Sunday if I can pluck up the courage as the nursery accessories I like (light on the moon) are on sale. Eek [scared emoticon]

I have a couple of questions for you more seasoned ladies. I'm having trouble sleeping and also have back trouble. I was thinking of a sleeping pillow? Any good recommendations? Is the dreamgini good? But there seems to be other letter shaped options too??? Ideally I'd like one that would be useful post birth too.

Also our spare room (too be nursery ) is only little so we were thinking cot over cot bed. Our hope is to move once I go back to work, but you never know how long it might take. How long does a cot usually last for, before it's too small? Definately don't want to have to replace it before we move as we'd have nowhere to store the cot.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 16/06/2011 08:49

Collie - just popping in quick to say a cot should last a while. I know of a family in an unfortunate position whose LO had to stay in a cot until 3yo. My DDs room is tiny tiny. It isn't even classed as a bedroom. We have managed to get her single bed, a wardrobe, and her bookshelf in there no problems. May have a few issues with this once a baby arrives though... Grin Our plan was to move but it hasn't worked out right and won't do for a few years now so we have to make do with the space we have (or don't have). My theory is, if I can fit a single bed in there, then bunk beds will fit too.

Blackkat · 16/06/2011 09:16

Plucking up the courage to think about graduating, so wanted to eye up a spot, but too apprehensive just yet..

Lovely to hear from Dachs. Hoping you enjoy your holiday inspite of knee pain (gondola everywhere?) and keeping everything crossed for you in August. ((hugs))

Collie i got some M&P biffer mat leggings, they are super comfy and roll to go over/on/under bump.

to everyone and leaves muffins and tea

nickstermum · 16/06/2011 10:15

Apples just to say sorry about the sweep... come on miniapples... It will be allright honey..... 'keep your eyes on the prize' as they say in daft american movies!! FX something starts to happen today xx Get bouncing on that ball, lots of chocolate and TLC in readiness for the chaos of two kiddiwinkles Grin

Daisybell1 · 16/06/2011 11:11

Morning all

Massive hugs to Dachs, so sorry about your knee m'dear, I hope you get it sorted soon and its better by your holiday. You are so strong and brave thinking about the future, you really are. Seeing and wearing the ring will become less raw in time sweetie, I'm sure. And I think a GP who cries is worth their weight in gold - it means they get where you're coming from, which is so good in the long run.

PS, when I last went to italy they had wine flavoured ice cream Grin

Nix how is the house selling going? So glad you managed to patch things up with the neighbours, even though it must have been galling to have to do so. Where is it you're moving to again?

Orange have the bad dreams stopped now? Not long till saturday Grin How was the drive????

Owl you are a proper Percy Thrower, how do you manage to grow all that lot????? I've inherited 2 apple trees, a plum, some currants of some variety and ferral rhubarb and that's plenty to keep me going. V Envy of all your courgettes - they won't grow up here Sad

Apple the anchovy being saved for mini-Nix on the turning issue is available for MiniApple if you think it will be useful??? Perfectly understand you being disappointed by no sweep, I'd be gutted too Do you think we can smoke him/her out with pate and brie???

Collie I have one of those standard support pillows - the V shaped one, and that does me fine at the moment - one bit between the legs, and the other tucked next to, and eventually under, the bump. Hopefully it will help with feeding too as I can drape it round me. I was given it second hand but I don't think they're particularly expensive (they're not specific maternity ones).

Blackkat I need biffer lard-arse more generous leggings, thanks for the tip off Smile

Update from Daisy-ville - scary consultant wasn't scary at all, completely lovely, although not as lovely as the male midwife whom I met on Tuesday - now he was LOVELY Grin

Anyway, I'm certified to be within MLU's mentalling standards which is fab news, and the other slightly momentous news is that he agreed to a gender scan there and then. I now know which team we are.....

There, that should keep you all on tenterhooks for a while

cep · 16/06/2011 11:31

apple i really hope things kick into action for you before having to have an induction. Hope wednesdays sweep works. have you tried long walks and currys? sex is supposed to be good (if you're in the mood)

blackkat welcome hon.

Wombat33 · 16/06/2011 11:46

Daisy!!! You can't do that to us!!! It's my birthday today so I demand to know!!! Grin Grin

Dachs - lovely to hear from you! I'm sorry that your knee is injured. That's the last thing you need on top of everything else. I'm hoping that this is all your bad luck being used up. You certainly deserve some happy times ahead. I think the ring sounds lovely. The perfect thing to keep your dear little ones close. Have a woindereful time in Venice and go out and treat yourself to some fabulous clothes to wear on your hols. xxx

Mind you, nearly spat said sweeties out all over desk at the mental image which popped into my head of Wombat and me hanging around near Apple's fanjo wafting the smelliest garlic pate we could find.

I'm so sorry Apples, I really have an uncontrollable brain at times!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 16/06/2011 12:26

Hello all

dachs it's lovely to hear from you, I'm sorry about your knee, that sounds really painful! Fx that it's a bit better by the time you go away.

It must have been really difficult to see the ring for the first time, it is a beautiful idea though and hopefully over time it will get easier and be a lovely way to remember Alexander and Felicia.

Also good that you have reached a decision re the IVF; I will have everything crossed for you. Remember the IVF did work; there is no reason why it would not work again xx

apples sending you a bit hug -it's miserable at the end. Sorry you didn't get the sweep but please try not to fret; DS was induced and it wasn't that bad (or if it was I forgot straight away when he arrived!), and was much quicker than I expected (and quicker than my subsequent "natural" labour with DD) so that was a bonus. You will get through it and you will have a beautiful baby at the end of it x

I had my 16 week MW appointment on Tuesday, despite long lectures on it being against policy I managed to persuade her to listen in, found the hb straight away and I cried Blush. This is doubly irrational given that I had actually found the hb myself that morning; think it was just a huge psychological hurdle to get past that 16 week appointment.

I don't get to see the MW again now until 28 weeks though - is this normal?? I know I've got the 20-week scan in between but I can't help feeling slightly abandoned!

On another note, she's sticking with my original dates, so I've amended it on the list (those extra couple of days make all the difference!). Can't believe I'm still at the bottom!! Hmm

nickstermum · 16/06/2011 13:00

Iz, i got a 21 week apt right after the 20 week scan... for no 2, so you should be the same? Quite right to feel abandoned. I am not due to see the MW til the end of june, but have made an apt for this aft...

Wombat... spinning babies website people point me in the direction of, havent yet looked byt it may help?

Daisybell1 · 16/06/2011 13:16

Ooh, is it about time to start the spinning babies stuff? Transverse here (if by that you mean lying on back, legs in the air, chilling out) too - do I need to start on this too, or is there no point as it can turn round easily now anyway?

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 16/06/2011 13:39

nicks if I remember correctly, you've had an accommodating mw throughout (lucky you!). No that's it for me now until 6 September apparently...feels like ages! Also, how often do you get iron levels checked? Mw didn't do them yesterday which means I'll have gone from 9 weeks to 28 (at least) without checking - is that normal too? Only ask as I know I tend to get low on iron in pg so a bit concerned...should have asked yesterday really!

daisy nix and anyone else with babies lying the wrong way up - I think dd turned at about 36 weeks but i think it can happen later. Plenty of time Smile

Daisybell1 · 16/06/2011 15:08

Izzy I think that's standard for iron tests - I don't think I've had mine done since my booking in appointment, and I have my 28 week appointment next week. If you're worried then could your GP arrange some for you? Mine has arranged repeat tests for me when I've been worried (toxo tests).

Am going to have to tell someone because OH doesn't want to know - we're team pink here. After a few hours of elation, I've just crashed and sobbed my eyes out in the toilet Sad

I know I'm soooo ungrateful, but the gender anxieties have just flooded back and I don't know how to deal with them.... Am glad I know now though, rather than dealing with all this after a horrendous labour!

appleblossoms · 16/06/2011 15:50

Wow, lots of chatting over the last 24 hours...will try and catch up soon, but right now i'm enjoying newborn snuggles!!
Much to our amazement, ds2 decided to make a very quick appearance into the world last night. Labour lasted 3.5 hours from start of contractions, and Malachi was born at 11.59 last night weighing 9lbs 4oz ...just gas and air and NO tears!!
Will catch up properly with you all soon. x

nickstermum · 16/06/2011 15:57

APPLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YEYYYYY woo hoo congratulations on the safe and very very quick arrival of your new baby boy Malachi...! Well done on the pain free birth and well done you :))

IZ, my iron level results have only just come through. Not been checked before!!
Got palpated today.... limbs down, curled up like a snail, she cant find the head but limbs were wedged in at the bottom of my uterus!! Wasnt worried.. plenty of time to turn yet.

Daisy why are you sad you are having a little girl? Is there someone you can talk to about it?!

Freezingmyarseoff · 16/06/2011 16:00

I was just procastinating about doing some work, quick MN check before getting back into it and I am greeted with your wonderful news Apple

Congratulations, Brilliant!! enjoy the snuggles - arhhh bless Grin

Get as much rest as you can

Daisybell1 · 16/06/2011 16:12

Apples wey hey! What lovely news, am sooo pleased for you! Many congratulations to you all Grin

Nix Oh god, I wish I knew why! I know I have no reason to, that I should be soooo grateful that LO is comfy and well, but for some reason there's a real anxiety there. Luckily the Mentalling Midwife (how she shall from henceforth be known) took one look at me, swept me into an office, and said she'd arrange some specialist counselling. So I'm being well looked after. I really don't want to offend/upset anyone by posting about this on here though.

DeterminedToGetDiffedDachs · 16/06/2011 16:35

apples Yay! Congrats on little Malachi's safe arrival

daisy sorry to hear you're wobbling again. Hope the counselling helps

izzy that's a great due date if it comes on time it will share a b'day with the great Dachs!

UrbanLolly · 16/06/2011 16:36

apples fantastic news congratulations xxxxxxxx enjoy all those cuddles.......
Been lurking as way too busted after work to post....finish on the 23rd can't wait.....
Mega waves to everyone xxxxxx

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 16/06/2011 16:39

Well that's news I wasn't expecting to see whilst I quickly popped on before cooking dinner.

Huge congrats apple Brilliant news!!! :) :)

really brings it home that there are going to be babies at the end of this... EEK!

daisy I'm sure you won't upset or offend anyone. This thread is meant for mentalling over our anxieties. I'm sure your issues aren't misplaced, and I hope the MW can help you :)

nix is that the first time for palpating for you? When do they generally start to do it? I wish I could tell which way up mine is.

Surprised your iron levels haven't been checked before. Mine were borderline at 12 weeks and after suffering HG until 18 weeks I guess when mine get checked at 28weeks they will be low. Was anaemic with DD and am of a pasty nature anyway so bring on the iron supplement and subsequent constipation!
