Dickon is the boy in the Secret Garden

bosscat · 30/10/2005 14:25

yes but think of seth from the oc. nothing bumpkin about him. I love that name personally but dh more of a traditional "name them after the kings" type.

munz · 30/10/2005 14:26

he's still stuck with joshua - and he heard me say to a friend about no uterus no choice - wasn't impressed! lol.

only two we've agreed on so far are Jake and Joesph - looking to be Jake then, althou have told him to look on the internet when he's off and do me a list of what he likes- that should be intresting! lol.

Pinotmum · 30/10/2005 18:48

Jed or Joel?

munz · 31/10/2005 07:44

didn't realise that hm2 - so we've taken jake back of the table, told DH last night in no uncertain terms it's not to be joshua/josh - no offence mummys of joshuas but I personally don't like the name. He's coming around to the idea of differnet names now - and is more willing to comprimise - so watch this space! lol - told him to do me a list of names from here.

PM - I love Joel DH doens't. but he's dead set on a 'j' name don't know to be happy or sad. def not zach any more- thinks it's 80's american (we were brought up with saved by the bell!)

bakedpotatooooowoooh · 31/10/2005 10:47

In last few weeks have met a small Harold and a small Wilfred. Harold, in particular, had bags of charisma. I think he'll need them.

JenumGeranium · 31/10/2005 12:43

I used to look after a wee boy called Jez. Dont hear many of those about!

wessexgirl · 31/10/2005 13:11

My cousin has just named her son Odin.

DissLocated · 31/10/2005 13:32

Elijah. Traditional family name for us, Eli for short, very Lancashire. I want to use it as a middle name if our next one is a boy, dh is worried it will get trendy because of Elijah Wood.

scaryclary · 31/10/2005 13:36

ooh lots of people have sad my ds1?s name....(also ds2's)
I also like:
Gabriel (DH said NO)
Hector (ditto)
Angus
Miles
or how about
William
James
Edward
(these 3 are all a bit more popular today)
My brother is John but Cod is right, that's not heard much today. Easy to say and spell too.
Iasn't jayden a girl's name? it's a girl in ds1's class....

zippitippitoes · 31/10/2005 13:42

Jed is short for gerrard isn't it
baz for barry
jez or jezza for jeremmy
loz or lozza for laurence
moz for maurice

libbyss · 31/10/2005 13:46

My baby is called Gil but his full name on his bc is Giles but it's not pronounced the English way.
I'm not sure how to type how it is pronounced phoenetically it's kind of like Jeeeeeel Like the French pronounciation but we call him Gil for short which is the English way - just to complicate things. I like it as it's not used very much now and DH wouldn't let me have the name Arthur so it was our compromise.

libbyss · 31/10/2005 13:46

oh and I love the name Johnny very sweet imo.

Ellbell · 31/10/2005 13:55

Hi Munz

You sound just like me and my dh. We had great difficulty reaching a compromise on boys' names (luckily we had two dds). However, we did agree on Gregory for dd1 (if she'd been a boy, obviously!) and Reuben for dd2. Haven't had time to read whole thread, so don't know if these have already been mentioned.
