Hi all,

Thought I would post this in pregnancy rather than conception. I just wanted to know how long it took you to conceive...?

Was it quick or a long difficult journey?

Just a bit curious as I am onto cycle 17 of TTC - had all tests done and they have come back clear/normal and still no sign of a pregnancy. Not too worried, but there are so many statistics as to how long it takes... just wondering how long it took some of the mumsnetters....

Thanks for reading!

DD1 - one year but I had no idea there was a whole science involved eg regularity of ovulation, cervical mucus changes, ovulation monitors, etc. So, our timing was very much hit and miss.

MC1 - 3 months - used clearblue fertility monitor, acupuncture, conception vits, monitoring cervial mucus.

6 month break then MC2 - took 2 months of ttc. Acupuncture, vits.

PG4 (currently 38 weeks)- 2 weeks from MC2.

Lots of luck.

I am 28, DH is 31 and we are 32 weeks pregnant at the mo with first baby.

Conceived during our 2nd month trying.

Good-luck! It's different for everyone and can be a waiting game, X

Dd 1, a surprise, I was on the pill.

Pg number 2 (18 weeks preg at the moment) first time. Didn't anything specific with dates or anything.

Yet I don't smoke, keep fit and am 27. Dp also doesn't drink or smoke and was training for a marathon at the time. He is in his mid thirties. Hope this info helps

DiscoDaisy · 03/03/2011 14:20

I don't know with my first 3 as I was on the pill at the time. My last two were both conceived after having unprotected sex just once.

lilly13 · 03/03/2011 14:22

this is my 1st pregnancy, i am 35, it took me 3 months to conceive, no previous mc. didn't use any monitors as i am one of those rare cases for whom monitors do not work. previously, i took agnus castus (in significant quanities), evening primrose oil and spirulina for 10 months as a treatment for another health issue. generally, i have been on super healthy diet and done lots of yoga (i think the latter really did the job, but a lot of people would likely disagree)... wishing you lots of luck!

Took 3 months to conceive with DD in 2007 and 3 months again with baby #2 in 2010.

we were very lucky with the conception part.
PG1 was awful with severe sickness throughout and lots of swelling so really not much fun.
This time has been totally differant, little sickness, but quite a few urine infections and much bigger, much earlier on so still not much fun :-)

Guess everyone is differant so conception periods and pregnancies vary .......

Good Luck, hope you catch very soon xxx

1st PG Age 27 took 3 years. Was having infertility investigations and tried for 3 years after for a second.
Second pregnancy, age 35, different partner, was a surprise, so the one time without being adequetly procted in a 5 year time scale!

bibbitybobbityhat · 03/03/2011 14:24

9 months for dd (I was 37/38)

Conceived on the fourth cycle (first pregnancy, age 28). It was also the first cycle where we used ovulation tests.

weegiemum · 03/03/2011 14:26

DOn't be cross with me!

Dd1 - 1st month of trying
Ds - 2nd month of trying
Dd2 - weren't trying at all, had a mirena coil!

weegiemum · 03/03/2011 14:27

I was 28, 30 and 31.

Glad it worked out that way now though as am 40 and almost totally through the menopause which began very prem at 36/37. I'm glad I didn't wait!

lolajane2009 · 03/03/2011 14:27

Just under 8 years and we had given up...

WorzselMummage · 03/03/2011 14:27

4 months 24
30 months 28

jaffacake79 · 03/03/2011 14:27

Tried for 3 years for dd with exh.
Am still trying with dh, 4 years and counting........

8 miscarriages though, 1 before dd and 7 after. No reasons.

Wattinger · 03/03/2011 14:28

1st pg age 33 (DS) 2nd month of ttc

2nd pg age 36 (sadly m/c) 2nd month of ttc

I get really bad pains when I ovulate (the Dr calls it "mittelschmertzen", not sure if that's the right name or he's just speaking his native German!) so I'm v lucky that I know exactly when to ttc. Bloody painful though!

LostInTransmogrification · 03/03/2011 14:28

Ten months, then I spoke to a friend who said she fell pregnant after tic on the last day of her period. Tried it. Worked first time!

Carrotsandcelery · 03/03/2011 14:33

9 months for both of mine - the day I went to the doc to say that I was pregnant he gave me the results of my blood test to check my thyroid and it turned out my thyroid was underactive. This can influence fertility.
With dc1 we used an ovulation test kit and discovered I ovulate late in my cycle. She was conceived the month we used that and knew the exact date of ovulation.
I was 28 and then 31 when I conceived.

Flisspaps · 03/03/2011 14:34

Conceived DD the very first time of trying.

camdancer · 03/03/2011 14:35

I've gotten pregnant on the second cycle each time we've been trying. Sadly it isn't quite as good as it sounds.

pg1 - partial molar pregnancy
(started charting while waiting for all clear from hospital)
pg2 - DS
pg3 - DD
pg4 - didn't implant. My period came 18dpo, when usually it comes 10-12dpo.
pg5 - due in June

Also, my cycles are long (35-75 days) and don't start back until I've stopped breastfeeding (11m with DS, 12m with DD). So although it sounds good, it still took quite a long time to get a baby - IYSWIM.

snowpeas · 03/03/2011 14:43

DS1 took 5 years, started trying age 22 had him just before I was 27

DS2 took 3 years, had him aged 31

DS3 took 1 month and is due in October when I will be 37

no reasons were found as to why it took so long with the first 2.

tweedlezee · 03/03/2011 14:43

both times the first time we had sex after I came off my method of contraceptive - Sorry!

GOOD LUCK!

Haribojoe · 03/03/2011 14:45

DS1 6 months, DS2 and DS3 both first time out of the traps IYSWIM.

Good luck Smile
