Lol Liz, to be fair to you (even though you haven't been hanging around the baby aisles Wink) Boots is pretty good, I got my free changing bag yesterday :) all I had to do was buy a pack of nappies and hand over my voucher :o I got home and Simon was like "ummm, wheres the rest of the nappies? They're a bit small aren't they?" Bless him, he's gonna have such a shock when Poppy is born!

KLou111 · 02/03/2011 17:25

Hi all.
Nursery looks lovely Melly. Angel sounds doppler looks like a good one. Been looking at the ones with a loudspeaker and screen for heartbeats, but they're around £47 v £25 for the Angel one.

Liz you Boots stalker you!! :)

Went in for triple blood test today and forgot my notes like a muppet. I did mention to DH as we got out of the car that I bet I needed them, to which he told me I should keep them in the car. Yes, I know, but a bit late by then! Got to go back in the morning.
They checked baby's heart while I was there, as was still a little on edge due to the bleed, but all OK, pumping away like she/he had just run a marathon Grin

Melly19MummyToBe · 02/03/2011 17:53

Thats great news klou! :o lol at the notes, I very nearly did that when I went for my first scan, DP was like "don't you need them note things?" Thats just me and my usual forgetfulness Blush

Just cooking tea, it smells EXACTLY like my usual vegetarian pizza with extra mushrooms. It's actually chicken and potato roast with red and orange peppers. Smellss delicious though, it's one of those colmans packets. Went for that Chinese all-you-can-eat last night. wasn't great, food quality was very cheap, and everything was soooo greasy [bleurgh face]

KLou111 · 02/03/2011 18:20

All I want is a sodding chinese now!!!!!! Thanks for that!
Were meant to go shopping today, but as I've got to now go back into town tomorrow, couldn't be bothered today, so it's whatever we've got. Carbonara I think we have, which I don't really fancy. Really want chippy chips, but our nearest is miles :)

OP posts:
Melly19MummyToBe · 02/03/2011 18:32

ahaha sorry :o if it's any consolation I didn't really enjoy much of it. The curry tasted like aniseed, but really spicy [bleurgh face] don't get me wrong, I love aniseed! But not when it's in a curry. Our nearest chippy is at the end of our street, and our nearest chinese is on the street behind ours. Both do lush food :o

KLou111 · 02/03/2011 18:35

Now I fancy aniseed balls, and not had them for over 10 years lol!
Bah, the joy of living in a village, everything is miles!

OP posts:
Melly19MummyToBe · 02/03/2011 18:40

Oh gosh i'm sorry :o all I was telling you was how minging the food was and now you're fancying everything I said was gross! I take full responsibilty :)

GruffaloMama · 02/03/2011 18:43

Hi everyone. We were away visiting the in-laws. Glad to be back in my cosy little house!

Nursery looks gorgeous melly - I did a jungle theme for DS before we knew he was a boy. I think it can be lovely for either sex. Have got some different owl and cloud stickers for this bean and want to work out what else to do. And we need to decorate DS's new bedroom.

Building work starts here in about 10 days to rip out our utility room and downstairs loo to put in a bathroom. Will be a nightmare but SOOOOOOO looking forward to a bath. Our house only had a shower when we moved in and we've put up with that since then. DH only got baby 2 on the basis that I'd be allowed to put in a bathroom Grin

Can't wait for our scan on monday - it has been harder to feel movements until last couple of days (when baby seems to have learnt to disco dance) and really want to know that everything's okay. The 12 week scan was very quick (they were behind and I wasn't having the nuchal fold thing done so it was pretty speedy). I missed my consultant appointment thanks to work but rebooked for 22 March - I think I should find out then whether I'm to go in for a C Section or not. I start my preg yoga then too - all getting quite real and now 19 weeks!!!

Madkatz glad all is okay.

Klou I have to fess up to peeing in front of DH. Never used to but since DS arrived I never get any peace even on the loo so just expect door to be open. DH moans but given the horrors that he visits on me (the worst wind in east anglia, surely) I figure I'm still on the shaky moral highground.

liz I love the idea of disney themed boob coolers!!!! Grin Grin Grin I think I might put some in my hospital bag for when I start feeding the baby and my boobs get engorged - genius! Better than cabbage leaves.

KLou111 · 02/03/2011 18:44

he he he. Don't worry, seems to be happening a lot with me at the moment. The one the other day was someone on Eastenders was eating potato waffles, another thing I haven't had for years, and yes, all I wanted was potato friggin waffles!!! Still not had them though!
The other one was fish finger sandwiches, which we just so happened to have them in the freezer, and I made some bread, lush :)

x post Gruffalo
DH just putting our bath in, can't wait. We too only had a shower cubicle. He ripped it out last Friday, and the new tap/shower was meant to be here today, but the bastards naughty tap company 'overlooked' our order and promised it will be here tomorrow. Better be or else!!
Sick of washing in the sink!

OP posts:
Melly19MummyToBe · 02/03/2011 18:53

ooooh I had potato waffles the other day, they were only £1 from tesco, they were on offer for a box of 12 :o

Thanks gruffalo, it's going to be even more amazing when its completed, I have so many ideas!! lol I love that compromise, "you can have another baby if I can have a bathroom" thats ace :o

My DP is planning on removing a large chunk of kitchen doorway so we can squeeze a dishwasher into our already miniscule galley kitchen Hmm its a good job he's good at doing stuff like that! Took him 3 moths to do up our house before we could move in, and that included widening the dining room/frontroom doorway and completely redoing both our bathrooms!

Melly19MummyToBe · 02/03/2011 18:55

Oh and opening up BOTH the chimney breasts, we have an open fire in our front room and a wood burning stove in the dining room!

GruffaloMama · 02/03/2011 18:57

Yeah - sorry - monster post to catch up. It's a bugger only having a shower isn't it? We would use the shower most of the time for us but it'll be much easier espec for bathing DS and the new baby. Hope your tap arrives tomorrow. Our stuff is due to arrive on the 11th.

Melly19MummyToBe · 02/03/2011 19:00

Just out of interest, do all you lot have DC's already? Just wondering if i'm the only first-timer :o

KLou111 · 02/03/2011 19:00

Ha ha, get em working!! :)
Can't beat a real fire can you? Our stove does our heating/hot water too off coal or wood, so we don't pay for any gas or anything, good times. We chopped a load of trees down in our garden last year, enough for 3 years of heat. We had to have a massive wood store built, it's lovely, with stone pillars and a slate roof to match house. Still not big enough for all the wood we had though! The rest is hidden in a corner of the garden. If we move, and new people want gas, it can be used as a car port :)

OP posts:
KLou111 · 02/03/2011 19:01

I'm first timer, as are Iwish and Madkatz :)

OP posts:
Melly19MummyToBe · 02/03/2011 19:07

Ooooh I know, I luuuurve our open fire, our garage is our wood store, partly because theres nowhere else to store it, and partly because our car is physically too big for the garage (its only a little pug 206! The wingmirrors are wider than the doors!!) It helps that simons brother owns his own joinery business so we often get his 'scrap box' and simons dad works at a wood yard that makes tatey boxes so he brings loads of wood for us :o I have a picture of simon when we opened up the D-room fireplace, with just his legs disappearing up the chimney :o

lizandlulu · 02/03/2011 20:06

evening allSmile melly i already have a dd who was 5 in oct.

gruffalo your not kidding about it being a nightmare, but will be sooo worth it! the dust will get everywhere though, you do realise thatGrin

meyyl i am very jeleous of you having a dh who can actually DO stuff. my dh cant or wont do anything to do with diy. not even put a picture upShock i have had to use the local 'hire-a-hubby' in the past but he let me down last time and i wont use him again on principal, so if i do need anything small doing i am buggered!

i am 18+2 and still not feeling much movement. only a couple of brief times a day. i thought it would be alot more by now. i read somewhere that you wont feel it as much if you are very active as it lullus the baby tpo sleep alot of the time and i wonder if that is the case?

GruffaloMama · 02/03/2011 20:35

Liz I wasn't feeling much until literally a couple of days ago (it was so quiet that I seriously thought about going to the GP to check the heartbeat). I'm 19+4 now. I reckon it was because we had a really busy weekend (no time to sit quietly and feel the movements) and my bump has moved up so there's more room. I can believe the busy thing lulls them to sleep - carrying DS as a newborn in the sling or the car used to get him off immediately.

melly I'm also jealous of having a handy DP. DH is great but DIY only really extends to painting. But he is a great cook so no real complaints... We have chimneys and fancy real fires but will ahve to wait for a few years while we save up. Bathroom will take our pennies for the time being.

lizandlulu · 02/03/2011 21:05

i am not TOO worried as i do feel it, just not as much as i thought.

i am going to the docs on friday about this rash thing i have, going to get some thrush cream and gaviscon too as my maternity prescription exemption card has come. i have been getting indegestion just about everyday for a few days now although it doesnt last too long so havent taken anything for it as yet.

KLou111 · 03/03/2011 08:47

Morning all. Another g orgeous day here in South West Wales Grin we've been really lucky since Saturday, and meant to be like this tile the other side of the weekend, which is good as my 2 brothers are coming tomorrow for the weekend.
Bought an Angel Sounds doppler last night, a pale green one. Thought I'd be different as they all seem to be pink! Can't wait for it to come now :)

Have a great day all xx

Melly19MummyToBe · 03/03/2011 10:17

I am very lucky that he is able to do just about anything. Our nursery was just one big room that led straight into the bathroom, and he built a stud wall so now we have a passage and a seperate room, with a sliding door that slides into the wall how cool is that? He can do brickwork, plastering, painting, plumbing, gardening (he grows our own veg) even roadworks (thats what he does for a living :o)! He's even taught me a few bits so now im fairly handy with a drill :o although I wouldn't trust me to put a shelf up! Theres not much he can't do really.

lizandlulu · 03/03/2011 11:45

melly shut up now thenGrin only joking!

i might invest in one of them dopplers. i wish i had bought one first time round and i could have got more use out of it, buti dont think they would have been so readily available back then!

i am scared i might just sit there every night though listening to it and make me worry more.

how much was it klou?

MadKatz · 03/03/2011 13:05

Hello Ladies,

Seeing the midwife for the first time at 2.30 this afternoon.....Why am I so nervous? Confused

Any advice?

Melly19MummyToBe · 03/03/2011 15:22

Lol sorry liz :o

Hey MadKatz, I would say "don't worry, I was nervous, you'll be fine! First baby etc you don't really know what to expect. All they do is ask you questions about health, smoking etc" BUT as it's now 20 past 3 and your appointment was 2.30 theres a good possibility that you have already been. So, how did it go? I hope your midwife is as lovely as mine is :) xx
