klou mines at 10.30 amSmile

to be honest madkatz i dont know how to work it either. i have just gone with what the first scan said. my date according to my period made me 2 weeks ahead so i must have conceived 2 weeks after the start of my last period.

have you had a scan? sorry if you have already said about it, i cant rememberBlush

MadKatz · 21/02/2011 16:40

Not had my scan yet liz, am ony about 7 wks

Iwish · 21/02/2011 19:29

Hi madkatz if you count 40 weeks from the first day of your last period that should be your due date. Well that's what my midwife did so my date is 7th October.

Oooh Liz and klou having scans on the same day :)

gruffalo hope you are ok?

Sickness hasn't been too bad over the last couple of days, boobs still a bit sore and I'm a little tired so all is well lol! 7+3 today and have an appt when I'm 10+4 then hopefully they will give me a date for the scan :)

GruffaloMama · 21/02/2011 20:30

Hi all. Fine here though the indigestion has started. Or could just be a dodgy lunch from the canteen. Thanks for concern about DS. He's TOTALLY fine. Not a limp since Saturday evening. Hmm. If I didn't know better I'd say he did it for the sticker that the nurse gave him for being a brave boy.

Brill news about the scans Liz and Klou. Mine is on 7 March. My mum is visiting then so she's going to come too. She's even more excited than me. Iwish - hope your scan date comes through soon. Glad the sickness has lessened a bit - hopefully it'll disappear like magic when you get to 3 months.

Madkatz - iirc (and I might not - i've been a dizzy cow since getting preg again) you had quite a long cycle the month that you fell preg? So the first date of your last period might be a slightly dodgy guide. The dating scan is really accurate so they'll be able to confirm your due date then. But if you know when you did the clearblue test you should add two weeks to the number of weeks preg it tells you. So when it said you're 2/3 weeks you were actually 4/5 weeks gone. Because it measures from when you conceive but the forty weeks includes an assumed two week spell before you actually did the deed. IYSWIM... God so confused now I think I might need a lie down...

KLou111 · 21/02/2011 22:08

Evening all!

Madkatz I got told that you take your 1st day of your last period, add 9 months, plus 1 week, so your due date would be 10/10/11.

They'll change it on your scan anyway as like Gruffalo said, it depends really on how long your cycle was. Mine was 2/11/10, am due 11/8/11, and I would have had a long cycle. Dates have changed from 9/8/11 (the calculation above) to 16/8/11 from early scan, to 11/8/11 on 12 week scan!! So I'd go 'around' 10/10 TBH :)

Glad your DS OK Gruffalo phew!! :) Not too long for your scan, very Envy

Hoping your sickness is on it's way out now Iwish. Mine disappeared at 9 weeks (that's why they sent me in for an early scan as I had brown blood, and sickness/symptoms all went, but all fine obviously!)

lizandlulu · 21/02/2011 22:26

i was going to say dont worry about it, the scan will tell you your due date.

guffalo its lovely that your mum is so excited about it. my mum just views everything eith not alot of interest. she says she is happy about it, but i am not seeing much of it to be honest! she is coming with me to the next scan but only cause i told her she was coming and we can go shopping after. every name i come up with she dislikes but wont give me any suggestions of what she likes.

and she has said (several times) that she wont be able to look after this one like she did dd when i went back to work.
i went back when dd was 4 months, 3 days a week and mum had her on those days till she was 1 then she went to nursery.
so i think i am going to have to have more time off work this time as i dont much fancy leaving dd at a nursery much before she is 6 months at least. oh well i am sure i can get something sorted.

lizandlulu · 23/02/2011 14:18

hiya all, i am just letting you all know that i might not be on over the next few days, i am going away tomorrow till sunday, but will be thinking of you allGrin

KLou111 · 23/02/2011 15:04

Have a great time Liz wherever you are going. Take care xxx :)

I received a lovely present in the post this morning. Such a huge surprise. Our friends sent us a baby record book! It is absolutely lovely and it has got everything listed in it, first handprint, first haircut, first bath, first time in car etc etc, it is jam packed full.
Such a wonderful surprise :) They are so thoughtful. Perfect gift

Hi girls :) just been reading through the thread and thought i'd say hi! Back when I found out I was pg, I worked out that my due date was 29th may, going from 1st day of last period, which was 22nd august. BUT when I went for my "12" week scan I found out I was only 10 and a half weeks, so now due date is 7th June, 9 days before my 20th birthday Confused And if she is anything like her mummy and daddy, she will be late and end up coming on 16th June :(
I really feel for you all, I havent had any sickness, piles or any other horrible pregnancy symptoms like that :o apart from the heartburn, just started few days ago but not too bad if i pop a couple of rennies :o But knowing my luck I will get every bad symptom all at once when I resemble a house and can't move without help of a crane lol. only 15 weeks to go. . . . . .

KLou111 · 23/02/2011 18:10

Happy evening all Wine x

Hi Melly nice to meet you :) and congrats on your pregnancy. Very Envy you only have got to wait til June! Can't wait to meet our little one, seems to be going quick, but slow. Have you got any names in mind?

OP posts:
Melly19MummyToBe · 23/02/2011 18:18

I know what you mean, at the time it seemed like a snail with a tortoise on its back was moving faster than the pregnancy was but 25 weeks has soon zoomed up on us! So far the choices on names, are Poppy, and thats it :o My partener tried reading the names book but gave up after 5 minutes because he couldn't pronounce half the names in there and it confused him. Poopy just appeared from nowhere. and no other names match up to it, so I think it's definately her name! Have you picked any names yet?

Melly19MummyToBe · 23/02/2011 18:19

I mean Poppy, not poopy Blush

KLou111 · 23/02/2011 18:31

LMAO Poopy!!!
Ah, Poppy is lovely. I know a couple of young Poppy's :)
We have Ava Jayne (preferred) or Isla Jayne for a girl, Iwan John for a boy.
Jayne was my late Nan, and John is both the Dad's middle names (and both my granddads first names) I wanted Iwan James as that is DH's middle name but he said it would mean more to the Dad's if we used theirs so will go with that :)
We picked those before we even started trying lol.

Off to make dinner, chicken stir fry and noodles here, can't wait :)

OP posts:
Melly19MummyToBe · 23/02/2011 18:39

Iwan? I've never heard that name before, is it pronounced like Ivan, just Iwan? I liked Poppy Ava but Simon doesn't. He also thinks Poppy shouldn't be on its own, so we're negotiating Poppy-Louise :) Isla-Jayne is really nice, same as Ava-Jayne!
ooooh can I come to yours for dinner? That sounds delicious [drooly face] I love stir frys and noodles! Especially pork and chicken stir frys (not together obviously) :o

KLou111 · 23/02/2011 18:43

Welsh spelling for Ewan as in McGregor :) Our house is always open for dinner parties, but I am having this one to myself (and DH) tonight Grin

OP posts:
Melly19MummyToBe · 23/02/2011 18:50

Ohhh cool, I prefer the spelling Iwan, Ewan just reminds me of sheep to be honest, the ew bit i suppose, makes me think of "ewe" then it makes me laugh and I get funny looks :o

lizandlulu · 23/02/2011 21:24

hiya melly congrats and all that Grin 16th june isnt all bad, its my birthdaySmile

just though i would pop in and say bye, i am off to bed, got to be up half 5. benidorm here we come!! (and jokes about seeing me round the pool in the new series on friday night will be met with an icy stareGrin)

GruffaloMama · 24/02/2011 10:08

Am sure Liz you're way too classy for that. Hope you have a lovely time! Srry to hear your mum's not been as excited as you would like. Mine was really cool about the whole thing until I got the 12 week scan and then started letting herself get excited.

Hi Melly glad to hear you've escaped lots of the preg evils! Long may it continue! Love Poppy but DH's surname doesn't suit some of those names unfortunately.

Ref food I'm eating like a pig at the moment - soooo hungry. DH cooked dinner the other night and it was a bit later than normal. I nearly ate the cutlery I was so ravenous. And my bump has gone massive. It is genuinely alarming. I'm blaming DS (not aforementioned eating like a pig) for ruining my taut tummy (hilarious - never ever had abs!) but I think I know the answer is too many choc ices. Ho hum.

Melly19MummyToBe · 24/02/2011 12:23

Shock 16th June is MY birthday too!! I actually am really very Envy about your trip to Benidorm :( I so need a holiday before baby arrives. Highly unlikely due to lack of pennies though :( hope you have a great time though!
I know exactly what you mean about the food thing gruffalo, I sometimes feel like a horse because im constantly grazing! Although not as much fruit and veg as I should be consuming though Blush

KLou111 · 24/02/2011 15:46

Hi all!!
Just got back home, OMG we heard our little one's heartbeat!! The most beautiful sound in the world!!! DH started welling up, and I was grinning ear to ear. Such an overwhelming experience. DH recorded it too so we have a record of it. Just lovely Grin

Re food, I can't stop eating some days (including today). So far for lunch I had a ham and cheese sandwich, pack of crisps, 2 slices malt loaf, banana, orange, 4 jammie dodgers, and I am about to make a cake! God help me if there was chocolate in the house!! Back on that too!

Very jealous too Liz so need some sun!! Have fun!

PS for the record, chicken stir fry was LUSH! x

Melly19MummyToBe · 24/02/2011 15:58

Ooooh wow I love that :) I heard my little girls echo of her heartbeat on tuesday, she kept wrigging away from the doppler thingy :o she's so shy bless her :) Poor DP has been at work both times i've been to hear it and missed it. Although he did get to hear it when we went for a sexing scan which was amazing! How many weeks are you now Klou?

RE food, going to The Big Wok next tuesday, it's an all-you-can-eat chinese for a fiver :o

Melly19MummyToBe · 24/02/2011 15:59

Oh, and DP attempted to listen to her heartbeat last night by sticking his ear against my belly. He got a big kick in the ear instead!

KLou111 · 24/02/2011 16:01

LMAO Melly!
All you can eat sounds great to me!!!
16 weeks today :)

OP posts:
Melly19MummyToBe · 24/02/2011 16:08

Oooooh almost halfway there then! I hate the way that every day feels like a week, and every week feels like a month. but when you get to a certain point like 20 weeks you're just like "wtf? wheres all that time gone!?!" Shocking how fast it goes when it feels so slow.

KLou111 · 26/02/2011 15:31

Afternoon all, how are we all doing on this gorgeous day? While DH has confined himself to the sofa watching the rugby, I'm am LOVING the sun in the conservatory, it's just lovely.
Off out to watch the England game, I'm not that interested, but DH said he'd take me for a curry after, so I'm sold! Anything to get out of cooking!

Well DH ripped our (only) shower and cubicle out yesterday to make way for our new bath. Can't wait, but having a wash in the sink is not the best I must say! As he is watching the rugby today (which I already knew he would be) obviously not a lot going on in there, but he'll hopefully get a lot done tomorrow. We live in a barn conversion which wasn't done very well, so everything we do something, which are supposed to be easy jobs, it takes us 4 times as long cos they bodged it originally!! The walls aren't square in this case, so the bath won't sit properly so he's go to make a new wall. Bloody muppets!
