Real quick post to say OMG Moof I have been worrying about you for weeks! Was fretting that had not heard anything after your 12 week scan was due. Welcome welcome x

Off to bed now, will catch up tomorrow ladies.

Hope you get a good night of it SamB Smile

HappyGirl1 · 25/11/2010 22:54

Moo - welcome back Smile - that's just great to have you back!!!

Gi1da - sleep well !

No news here just shattered.

Unbuffy how are u doing?

Muser · 25/11/2010 23:06

I also wanted to say that I hope you feel better soon Ivy, sounds grim.

SamanthaB123 · 26/11/2010 04:09

Good morning [cgrin]!

It's currently 00:37, we'll see what time I finish posting! Phone is very much back in action and I am looking forward to name checking...

Welcome back Moo - I hope your pregnancy is awfully dull.

Ivy Wow, salmonella?! I hope you are ok, it can be really nasty. Are you on the upside now do you think? I always found that my essays wouldn't write themselves either, so tiresome Wink. I have something due at the end of December which I haven't given any thought to at all.

Tiger At my 16 week appointment I heard the heartbeat. It was a general checkup with usual obs - wee dipstick, blood pressure and measuring the height of the uterus. I recorded the heartbeat on my phone and emailed it to DH. I think it was one of the nicest sounds I ever heard.

Viv I had to buy maternity clothes really early due to the fact that I ate to overcome the sickness. I got really sick of wearing them by the end, I wish I'd bought more in fact. Of course I'm regretting it now (the eating that is). Nothing fits me and I'm two sizes bigger that I was, I don't have a coat that will do up over my breastfeeding boobs. Not great in this weather... Guess what I'll be buying this weekend. As a matter of interest I didn't buy any tops that I could feed easily in which was a mistake. I thought some of my own things would fit. I would recommend that you make sure you have a couple of items before the baby is born. It made it difficult to go out in the early days. Initially I preferred tops that undid for feeding but as I've hot better at it I prefer really loose tops that Ruby can go under from the bottom.

Alibob, Crochet & Apples welcome as well. It's really good to have people at all stages of pregnancy here - it's one of the the best things about the thread (that and the fact that everyone on here is so lovely!).

Loopy I'm sorry you are feeling lousy still, it must be so disappointing thinking that you are going tonfeel better soon only to find that it doesn't happen. How old are your other children? It must be hard work being pregnant with three already - I always found that tiredness made me feel so much worse, do you find that too?

Louise I am thinking of you tonight. I hope you are sleeping and that tomorrow is a better day.

Hope everyone I haven't mentioned is well, especially those at the top - hope you're ok Buffy. Did I also read that you are finishing at 37 and a half weeks TooMuch? That was when I finished too. It was easier for me though because I was non teaching at the end. Can you not start you maternity leave on the first day of term in Jan so as to benefit from another two weeks full pay? Just a thought!

Ok, feeding is over. Hope you all have great day today and that no-one is snowed in! Sam x

Moo welcome back :) Hope you have a boring pregnancy

loopy and louise, hope you have good days today.

toomuch can't believe you are planning to go for so long. There's no way I could still be at work even without back/spd-type pain, I wouldn't be able to stay awake to do any planning marking or anything! You must be a much stronger woman than me (or work in a much more suppportive school Hmm).

happy make sure you rest... wonder how buffs is doing?

Had a pretty crap night and not slept well at all. Plus I think I have a UTI so need to phone docs as soon as they open. Hmm, anyone else near the top running out of things to wear (again)? I have about 3 items of comfortable clothing. Grrrr.

love to all x

SamanthaB123 · 26/11/2010 07:49

Loopy Wow, I am in awe of you - three children each a year apart and pregnant! You are amazing. Don't beat yourself up about your parenting. It's idealistic to be an amazing parent; being good enough is good enough. Your girls are loved, fed, clean and wanted which makes you a pretty good mum. I hope you have a good day - take paracetamol and get rid of the headache - it's worth is because it will improve your day immeasurably if you feel better. Sx

OP posts:
SamanthaB123 · 26/11/2010 09:19

Sparkly at the end I had one outfit that I could wear and that was it. I wish I'd bought more earlier. It was really demoralising. If you think you might have more children and you can afford it, buy a couple of things that fit. Knowing that you look good will lift your spirits!

OP posts:
sparklyrainbow · 26/11/2010 10:59

Sam I was considering it but with Christmas and stuff not really sure I can justify it. The cold weather doesn't help either, both with getting things dry again and staying warm!

Well, I don't have a UTI, GP reckons wriggler has engaged more and is pressing on my bladder. All the time it seems... hohum.

purplehibiscus · 26/11/2010 11:00

hello ladies,

i really need your help! So my first pregnancy and MMC was about five months ago. And now I am 5 weeks along. I have been traveling for work this last week and just back this morning. I feel fine. The problem is I feel too fine. I have no symptoms (hardly any fatigue even) except for enlarged boobs. Just took another pregnancy test and its still positive. But this is exactly what happened last time. I had some early symptoms (fatigue, back pain, sore boobs) but then all went away and pregnancy test remained positive positive. Last time I waited until week 9 (every one telling me to relax and that everything will be fine) only to find it was very early MMC and having to have a DNC.

I really don't want to go through that again! My only urge to go for a private early scan but just called the fetal medicine unit in London and they recommend doing it at 7 weeks at least but I don't think I can wait that long!

Any body have experience with this or thoughts? should I insist on a scan at 5 weeks?

Muser · 26/11/2010 11:51

Hi purple. I really wouldn't have a scan at 5 weeks as it's unlikely to show you enough to reassure you. At 6 weeks you have some chance of seeing a heartbeat, but waiting until 7 weeks as suggested would make it more definite.

I had to have a scan at 6 weeks as my last pregnancy was ectopic so they had to make sure this one was ok. We saw the sac and the yolk, but no sign of the baby or a heartbeat. So I had another 2 weeks of waiting and worrying until I was scanned again at 8 weeks and saw a blob with a heartbeat. If I were you I wouldn't want to put myself through that experience. You might end up worrying for no reason.

It's also not uncommon to not have symptoms at this point. I felt great until about 7 weeks. At which point the sickness kicked in and kept going. I've read lots of people reporting the same here.

I can understand how scared you are, we've all been there. But hold on until 7/8 weeks for a scan. Good luck. x

clareanna · 26/11/2010 13:20

Welcome alibobster and purple. Purple the pregnancy I MMCed I had every symptom under the sun and threw up all the time, this time, I had hardly any symptoms, just slightly sore boobs and tiredness. I guess what I'm saying is that it seems that every pg is different and you get different symptoms. I know it's very hard not to worry and i hope you get a scan soon to put your mind at rest.
you can phone your EPU directly to check.

buffy think it was Alba and her patented sofa technique for getting baby in a good position! Anyone know if I need to focus as much on optimal position if I'm having a C-Section? I know DS will LOVE it if I get the ball out...

viv and tiger I'm now finding trousers quite uncomfortable by the end of the day, everything seems to dig in to bottom of bump at the moment. I don't even like my pants anymore,,,

happy 42 weeks does seem late for an induction I know a lot of areas like to book them in earlier than that, but also that a lot of women like to be given thechance to get things going naturally for as long as possible too... when would they do a sweep?

magic16 ouch to the spiderbabies tapdancing on your bladder! just keep on thinking 14 weeks to go....

apples and crochet hope you manage to do something lovely over the weekend to keep your mind off your scan on monday and tuesday... I ended up having 6 scans so far Blush and my EPU were very good at booking me in for reassurance scans. I had one at 6+5 after a possible ectopic scare, a reassurance scan at 9 weeks, a private scan at 12 weeks, NHS scan at 13+5 weeks, scan at 16 weeks due to a bleed and finally 20 week scan. As I@m having a C-Section I'll have another one at 36 weeks too! They were all incredibly nerve wracking experiences, espcially having to go back to the EPU for the first time since my MMC -that really upset me.

louise big hug to you - the constant reminders must be awful, especially at this time of year.

toomuch hope you've managed to get some kip?! what is keeping you up? have you got a lovely maternity pillow? My DH is slightly worried I'm become a bit too attached to mine (he's called mr Blue) as I sleep with him between my knees, under my bump and with my arms round him! I asked DH if he'd prefer it if I used him like that instead... so now Mr blue is welcome to stay!
and belated happy birthday?!

ivy can't believe you've had salmonella - you poor thing. What has your GP said? hope bump is OK x

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY MOO is finally here!!!!! can't believe you're 15 weeks!!! I know it's been the LONGEST 15 weeks ever but I'm so chuffed to see you here - I won't have to FB stalk you so much to check up on you now Grin

loopy hats off to you and your brood! I think you've got every reason to feel tired!!!!

sparkly what has GP said? recommend some cheap yoga pants from mothercare - most comfortable item of clothing ever! they were the only thing I felt comfy in towards the end last time..
remember you'll still be wearing some mat stuff after you give birth for a bit, so you'll get some extra wear out of it - unless you are in fact a celebrity mum or lucky type who pings back into your jeans!

muser hope you're well - are you still being sick?

I'm OK - went to see Peter kay last night which severly tested any remaining bladder control... As some of you know DH is recovering from pneumonia and is feeling very low, and as he's a bit like a tortoise (responds well to heat and light) we've decided to go on a last minute trip to Dubai. So we're off the week after next when I'm 30 weeks (eek)
I'm trying not to think about the flight - have got the OK from my GP and insurance company to travel and am working out how to get myself upgraded!! it will be our first and last family holiday as a threesome (we normally go away with family) so I'm really looking forward to it. The only other downside is that I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO WEAR for a beach holiday!

VivClicquot · 26/11/2010 13:55

Ooooh Clareanna, you lucky thing. I will be coming back to you in January for tips as DH and I are this >< close to booking our trip to Thailand at the end of Jan. We've settled on a week on Koh Samui and a week on the Andaman Coast so we just need to double check whether anyone can undercut our quote, and then we'll be away. Am SO excited - so any hints and tips for upgrades would be much appreciated.

Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, my lovely, finally you are here :)

purple - I'm another one who thinks you should wait until seven weeks as a scan at five weeks would just make you worry further. I know it feels like you can't wait another fortnight but I promise it will fly by.

Hi to everyone else - I'd do a longer namecheck but am working from Canary Wharf today and need to get everything wrapped up before starting the long trek back to Manchester. How pregnant people travel to work on the tubes every morning is BEYOND me. I barely have a bump yet it was a nightmare on the Jubilee line this morning.

Have good weekends all xxxx

Big hug for Louise Sad Hope you are having a better day today.

Claranna and Viv Envy Envy Envy oh how I would love sitting on a warm beach right now followed by a float in a warm sea. Though sorry your DH had to get ill to precipitate the hollibobs Clarea.

Toomt a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Bunting for you!

Purplehib would also second suggestions to wait till at least 7 weeks for a scan - you want to make sure you see something or it's even more nerve wracking. I managed to hold out til 9 weeks and was glad that I had waited. We all understand how hard it is to wait though.

Re clothes, I gave up on mat jeans since they always felt like they were falling down, and lately have been living in my sweaty betty roll-down waisted yoga trousers. Utter bliss. Can also wear then in a Simon Cowell high waste style to keep the draughts out!

Ivy bugger! How awful for you! Hope you are on the mend.

Sparkly glad there's nothing untoward going on 'down under'.

Loopsy have a fab choccie biccie and hope you feel better soon .

SamB did you have the iphone / ipod trouble where the site kept going to mobile format? Grr it was making me cross, thank gawd they sorted it out!

Ooh I should go, we have the inlaws coming tomorrow and I need to make a cake. And hoover. And tidy. Ho hum. After a good start to the week, my 'nesting' housework definately stalled.

Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend x

Oh and another woot woot for CariMoof
purplehibiscus · 26/11/2010 18:34

oh and i forgot to add that I will wait until 7 weeks for a scan. Well may be 6+5:) as having a inconclusive test at this point will only require me to have a follow-up scan at a later date and that would be so not good!

fingers crossed I can pass the time over the next 2 weeks without going into anxiety overdrive. I think I'll start by taking a worry break tonite, ordering in pizza and forcing DH to watch all my taped television shows from last week.

hope you all have a good weekend.

purplehibiscus · 26/11/2010 19:00

It looks like the first message I wrote (before the one above) didn't post.

What I wanted to say was thank you so much to muser, clareanna, and Gi1da. I had an overwhelming feeling of anxiety this morning and wanted to have clarity of whether or not this was an MMC, but reading your words was so helpful because it reaffirmed for me that doing a test at 5 weeks will most likely only result in an inconclusive result needing a follow-up scan later and the time in between would be terrible.

clareanna it was especially helpful to read about your experience with your previous MMC and your pregnancy now in which you had almost no early symptoms. I hope I can keep calm for the next 2 weeks before my scan.

Thanks again for your gracious support, it really helped a lot. Wishing you all the best!

banana87 · 26/11/2010 21:14

Hi ladies. Just having a quick peak and happy to see you are all doing well :)

Louise thinking of you, hope you get a BFP very very soon, you deserve it :)

Hopefully will join you all again someday ;)

CaribouMoo · 26/11/2010 21:27

Thanks for the welcome lassies, its good to be back - hopefully for the duration. I'm on a roll now, even told people at work today so that cat is well and truly out of the bag. Then immediately felt anxious that something goes wrong and I have gone public! Of course, almost everyone knew because I have been showing for weeks.

Gi1da I am so sorry for worrying you! I went for a private scan just over 12 weeks but decided to wait for my NHS scan before allowing myself to start to believe things are ok. I only got my scan on Tuesday this week and plucked up the courage then. Sorry pal!! You are so close to being due, I can't believe its been so long ago since you get your BFP too.

Does no news from Unbuffy mean she has been otherwise engaged? Muser I was wondering, are you still feeling sick or has it finally passed?

Loopy I second the paracetemol. I suffered needlessly for days with headaches then the MW convinced me it was ok. Sparkly what about following Viv's tip and getting some maternity gear off e-bay? I can't abide the feeling of under bump clothes, its Simon Cowell style all the way for me. By the end with DD I bought size 22 knickers to combat the problem!! I can give you a loan of them Clare Grin Lucky you going on holiday, the three of you deserve a nice break and thanks for keeping tabs on me on facebook x

Purple I agree with the others about waiting a bit for a scan, although its torturous in between times. My 1st MMC I was really sick and it still didn't work out, 2nd MMC I had absolutely no signs at all and worried this time round about symptoms. Around about 6/ 7 weeks I felt my first morning sickness so its maybe just a little early yet - although I totally understand your anxiety and have been there myself. Good on you for chilling out a bit.

Hope everyone else is well tonight

Muser · 26/11/2010 21:59

I am not sick every day now Moo, for the last 2 weeks it's calmed down a little. I do feel sick every morning still, but usually manage to control it. Once or twice a week I fail. Today was a fail day, sadly.

It is a lot better though. But I guess I might not feel properly better until the baby actually arrives.

Unbuffy has been quiet. How interesting.

HappyGirl1 · 26/11/2010 23:30

Great minds ladies, I was thinking the same re Unbuffy - hopefully she is happily otherwise engaged Smile. Looking forward to hearing her good news.

moo great your back.

muser great you aren't ill all the time.

purple good call re hanging on for the scan for another little while.. it's so hard waiting i know for sure but worth it in the end hopefully. Fingers crossed for you.

Tons of snow here and snowing again now. If baby-happy arrives today it will be a rather interesting drive to the airport. I have to admit I'm ready for baby to make it's appearance now but it just feels like ages away. Not that I've ever done this before but I just would have imagined you would kind of know that it was going to happen but who knows!

Happy due date Unbuffy! Hope everything's got going for you so you can get the birth you'd like

Happy good luck with the snow! On my recent hospital tour they told us not to worry about the weather, last year in the worst of it they sent the army out in 4x4s to get labouring women to hospital when needed so you don't need to worry about your car getting stuck in a snowdrift!

Lucky and Malty both term now too... Gosh, we have lots of imminent news here... The next baby could be any of 5 of you!

Magic I'm feeling for you with those spiderbabies... DS2 felt well and truly engaged most of this week... Loo trips every 30 mins, loads of pressure on my bladder... Then suddenly on Thursday all fine again and back to heartburn... I guess your two work as a team and you get both sets of symptoms at once... Ouch!

Clareanna enjoy that holiday! I found a few swimsuits on line that weren't so bad... Got 3 different ones delivered to nearest mothercare (thus expensive enough to avoid delivery charge), tried them all on and kept one... Easiest way out of summer season and I had no idea what size I'd be either. I'm bigger than I ever was with DS... Which is good because he was tiny, but boy am I uncomfortable. Need to buy bigger yoga trousers this weekend and a huge jumper... Will then live in them till baby arrives....

As for my patented technique for hanging off sofas... Don't do it unless baby breech... Has quite the opposite effect to the ball (which encourages them to engage)... It's for getting them up out of the pelvis so they can turn. I'm so uncomfortable today with movement in all the wrong places I think my little acrobat may have been doing somersaults again. Hopefully midwife can tell me for sure on Monday...

Ivy comiserations.. I've just had either food poisoning or a 24hr tummy bug. Horribly scary throwing up so much. Thankfully on the mend now, but it's no fun at all. Hope you're better?

Ladies pre-12 weeks... Hang in there. I had my worst symptoms with MMC... Almost as bad with this pregnancy, but nothing at all with DS who was just fine. There's no telling from how you 're feeling or how bad morning sickness is. I was paralysed with nerves before every scan (8, 10 and 12 wks)... Kept trying to remind myself that the best thing for the baby was for me to relax... I tried, not always entirely successfully! But someone said on here at the time, just remember that today you're pregnant, and try to hold that thought and enjoy it.

And who was still feeling queasy at 17 weeks? That happened to me too. Absolutely no 2nd trimester glow... Then suddenly felt great just before 30wks... Don't believe what the books tell you, every pregnancy so different!

Right, since I'm back in the land of the living time to start getting things done (didn't dare leave my room whilst ill, nesting instinct and complete inability to do anything = huge frustration + hormonally driven shoutiness... So hiding was best all round)

waves to everyone...
