Thanks for the hug and the fish, dorcas and alba. >-((((*> back at you. :-)

Think there is going to be an influx of babies on this thread soon!

Muser · 07/01/2011 14:25

Oh gosh, I seem to be getting scarily close to the top of the list, especially given the number of people past 37 weeks on it! Aaargh.

Gi1da · 07/01/2011 16:15

HOORAH for Goodluckbear huge congratulations on the birth of your boy James - and brilliant that we did get a Christmas thread baby after all! Smile

WestY!!! wonderful to hear fom you - had wondered where you had got to. VERY impressed on the house action, do you want to come here when you're done?

Gi1da · 07/01/2011 16:17

terried = terrified btw, not wrapped in nappies

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 07/01/2011 16:17

Muser I am due around the same time as you as will only go to 37 weeks so I am LOVING that you are nearer the top!!!!!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 07/01/2011 16:26

Hugs for Gi1da meltdown is perfectly normal. You can DO it and you will DO it Wink If you need a little assistance eventually or miniG needs a little coaxing into the big wide world as long as he or she comes into the world safely it doesn't matter where, when or how. You never know when it will kick off hun so try and enjoy the calm before the storm!

Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Redheadgal · 07/01/2011 17:06

Is backache a sign of impending labour? Haven't had a problem throughout my pregnancy with my back and suddenly today I've been crippled with it.

Gi1da - can totally sympathise with you. My head is all over the place. Nasty meltdown in our house about 3am when I decided I couldn't do it and had in fact changed my mind about it all. Don't know what's happened, my head was in a really good place about a fortnight ago.

Definitely in need of a halibut slap today!

Hi to Toomuch and Alba - hoping you're faring better than I am with this waiting game. And also to WestYorks - good to hear from you.

Waves to Magic and Muser and to those in the fingers-crossed-scary-stages: Orange, Nickster, Lucy and Wombat

toomuchteaching · 07/01/2011 17:11

I've had the odd bit of achey back too... but can't tell you if it's a sign of anything impending since NOTHING else is happening.

Me too on the freak out front (perhaps not helped by watching One Born Every Minute on 4od - I couldn't watch the original serious as it was all around my mc due date), I'm not sure I can do this after all... and actually having a baby (I mean having one, not the labour bit) is also a pretty big deal. Seriously, at 39 weeks I was all bring it on, but now Confused.

Chin up ladies, we can do it! Hmm

AlbaDeTamble · 07/01/2011 17:52

You CAN do it girls... And induction for post dates often not so bad, just need the gel to get things started. It doesn't mean loads of interventions Gilda. I had it with DS and it was fine...

Just had a slightly scary show... Lia's just reassured me this is all good so I'm feeling quite excited now!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 07/01/2011 18:05

yay for achey backs and scary shows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unbuffy · 07/01/2011 19:03

Hi all

have got back from exhausting trip to parentses and WOAH so much to catch up on!!!

Congratters to all that need congratting - new babies, new recruits, new maternity leaved folkses

Hugs and fishes to all who need hugs and/or fishes (you KNOW who you are), big hugs to VIV and LOUISE and ORANGE

Gilda calm down lovely, 'twill all be alright in the end. It's normal to get panicky and probably a good sign - hormone kickoff and all. that bouncing babe has GOT to come out somehow, you CAN do it. xx

go go Alba on the show - looking forward to hearing allll about it very soon

RHG sounds promising - are you lining up for a queuejump?!

Well babyjabie (ooooh, great name btw GLB Grin) is now somewhere over 10lb and going for 3 hours at night so things are a leetle tiny bit less mad round here (not much though) although has a cough and a lot of snot (so do the rest of us, yay...) and so feeding is messy interesting atm.

Love to all and will try to keep updated - it took me 2 days to get through all the posts that had been posted while i was away over new year!

Pompoms and bunting all ready for the Over 37s Club...

WestYorkshireGirl · 07/01/2011 19:27

Thank you all for forgiving me for my long absence! It's so good to see some babies have been popping out and others are imminent. I have been getting low back pain and lots of low period type cramps since Christmas which I am assured are good signs, but they are very painful and have been keeping me awake as can't get comfy at night. Anyone else have anything similar? Also got a nasty cold virus which is keeping me housebound this week- didn't have the s/flu jab so was a bit worried when I was very ill, but am getting better slowly.

Alba , toomuchteaching , RHG, the show and backache sounds positive - good luck!

Gilda I also have been a bit nervous in the last week or so - crying and telling DH I was frightened and couldn't do it. MW said it was all normal and was good at reassuring me that my body was perfectly capable of doing it. She also said that the backache/crampy pains I am getting now will probably bear no resemblance to labour pains so I mustn't get fixated on them. I am holding on to the well-known pain-relieving effects of the water pool as my hope! Are you or Alba using a pool?

Clare Thanks for words of encouragement about today - actually didn't find it any where near as bad I thought I would which really encouraged me. When I think back to where I was this time last year, I feel so proud of myself and DH at getting through Smile

Ladybee · 07/01/2011 20:52

ummm.

Hello.

Again.

I'm sort of in a bit of limbo at the moment, and am hanging out in the 6th form common room, but I am pregnant again. And a bit terrified. And very much in denial. Which is probably for the best at this Very early stage.

I haven't been on the pregnancy boards since August, so it's a lovely surprise to see some of you all popping your babies and many getting very close Grin

Anyway...I hope I'll get the confidence to acknowledge what's going on and feel like it might continue, but until then, I hope you don't mind if I maybe lurk off and on..and don't say very much for a bit.

Gi1da · 07/01/2011 21:03

Ladies thank you so much for reassurance, you are wonderful. xxx

TMI ALERT
Have a friend here for a curry so quicky advice please. Have been crampy since this afternoon and am now leaking some pink watery liquid which is not wee. Could this be my waters leaking, and as this is something they purposely wanted to check I had good levels of today, is this a risk if I lose some but nothing else happens? Now wondering if things actually will happen, or will I just wake up as usual.

Sending hugs to everyone else having a wobble xxx

Gi1da · 07/01/2011 21:06

Ladybee! Lovely to see you, sorry am distracted and in middle of a freaky moment but delighted to see you and look forward to chatting soon. Smile

clareanna · 07/01/2011 21:12

Hi gi1da hopefully lia or malteaser is around. It def sounds like waters to me. I had a small leak with ds, no contractions and then about 24 hours later they went properly, contractions started 6 hours later. If you've been feeling crampy then that could be a good sign. I would call your mw to let her know to be on standby... Very excited for you!!! You can do it and you'll be meeting your baby very soon xxx

clareanna · 07/01/2011 21:16

ladybee so delighted for you- I can completely understand the terror and remember we're all here to cheer you on/ slap you with a wet fish over the coming weeks. And if you just want to hide and pretend that nothing is happening that's fine too

nickstermum · 07/01/2011 21:39

ladies at the topofthelist YOU CAN DO IT!! (if i can do it and i am the biggest wimp of all...im sure you lovely ladies will breeze through it)

Ooh shows, leaky fluid.. fantastic there will be some baybees soon Grin

bee have whooped for you a few times.. how you feeling chic?!

NewImprovedJollster · 07/01/2011 21:41

disclaimer - has never smoked anything.

clareanna · 07/01/2011 21:45

rhg yes backache can be a sign of contractions!!! Hoping tonight is going to be a busy night...

Ladybee · 07/01/2011 21:56

Ok, just a quick response and then I'm out of here -

I'm ok. Mostly I just forget about it and then am fine. Still trying to get some idea of how I'm supposed to get scan & prescription for drugs to keep me pregnant. No one seems to have any idea.

Anyway....Gi1da my waters were definitely pinkish when they went.

lia66 · 07/01/2011 21:58

gilda pinky fluid that smells slightly sweet/straw like sounds definately like waters.Just pop a pad on and keep an eye on it, blood tinged is ok, any kind of blood loss that you could compare to a period should be mentioned to mw.

I wouldn't worry too much about calling them at this stage, particularly as you are enjoying your curry as they'll prob ask you to come in so they can check it, (they'll smell it,you can do that, :) )

Just to clarify Grin you do not need to be in agony to be in labour, backache, vague period type cramps can all be signs something is happening, and as we know, we all have different lavels of tolerance, try and think of them as periods of pressure/surges, intensity rather than pains. The power of the mind can be a great thing.

If you can sleep, do so as you'll need energy for later, and don't eat heavily as remember that some ladies vomit in labour and it's not always pleasant coming back the other way.

Drink plenty,Not sips, lots of water, wee lots.

Gotta pick dd up from a party at midnight so will be around on and off most of the evening.

Good luck ladies, :)
