Hello,

This may be a bit early as I know a lot can happen this early on but thought I would tentively see if there is anyone else in the same situation. Hmm

I found out I am 4 weeks pregnant this weekend. I am trying not to get too excited as it is so early but am finding it hard not to be! Blush

We have told my mum but have decided not to tell anyone else yet hence the reason I am here as I am desperate to talk about it.

Would anyone else like to join me on the 12 week wait and share feelings and experiences?

Hi,
Going by other peoples experiences, I think it should be 6 weeks+ so that they can detect a heart beat. I think the ideal is between 6-8 weeks. Most private clinics / hospitals can do it pretty quickly after your enquiry.
I know from my last pregnancy that if there is a heart beat at 6+ weeks it dramatically reduces the risk of loss.

highheelsandequations · 29/11/2010 15:20

impatientcat weeks is from last menstrual period (or 2 weeks before conception if you have weird/irregular cycles), bizarre that you're 2 weeks pregnant before even conceiving!

badkitty I've had 4 scans already (long story) and would recommend waiting till 7 weeks if you can. At 7 weeks exactly (I think) we could clearly see sac, yolk sac, embryo and heartbeat. Befor that it was really just a dot.

minimagnet even though I've seen the heartbeat at 7 weeks I am still panicking (last pg ended with a mmc between 6 and 8 weeks gestation). Do you know how much the risk of loss is reduced if there is a heartbeat?

ImpatientCat · 29/11/2010 17:02

Right, having spent most of my working day researching pregnancy online, I am now a little wiser than this morning. I have found out I am 5 weeks on, started my 6th today.
I've also found out that I can skip our grumpy GP's and book myself an appointment with a midwife directly (yay!). I'm chomping away on folic acid, I know roughly how big the little lump is and what development stage it is in, I've looked up healthy recipes with well cooked red meat and broccoli and am cutting my massive consumption of swordfish, whale and seal meat right down to zero.
I've read up on pregnancy and exercise, pregnancy and health problems, 10 ways to combat morning sickness (which I haven't got yet) and my company's HR guidelines.

Conclusion: the 12 weeks will not go any faster, and all I can really do at this stage is.... wait.

Damn.

Ha ha I like the name impatient cat. Well girls get my next scan in the morning. Hope I don't get snowed out of the hospital. I'll be 7 weeks 3 days. I had symptoms on and off and was worried after 2 losses I had lost again but a healthy sac was seen at 5 weeks 3 days. I have been found by morning sickness big time! Bring back nausea I could deal with that! Struggled at work today too. I had been nauseos since 5 weeks but first time I was sick was yesterday! I nearly threw up over a work mate today! No one at work knows.

Tell u what this whole pregnancy thing is waiting, 2 week wait to see whether af arrives, 12 weeks to scan 9 months to pop it out....ha ha I am sure someone says this can be enjoyable.

What's everyones partners like? My husband has been good but I think he feels a little detached from it all and also scared for me in case we get bad news in the morning

. Fingers crossed all is well. The signs have been good this time!

waterplate · 29/11/2010 19:19

I'm thinking of going for a scan at 8 weeks as well. I had to go for a private scan when I had a mc last time round as the NHS were expecting me to wait five days and I just couldn't cope with the waiting. It was a horrible experience though sitting in the waiting room with these two couples and their toddlers as they got all excited about their (healthy) scans while DH and I sat practically in tears thinking "why can't that be us?"

I am so excited about going there this time to be those happy people (though with half an eye on how other people look - if anyone looks like they're there for sad news I'll keep my excitement to myself!)

I'm going to make myself wait til I'm 8 weeks exactly though - I'm off oop north the day after that to see family and they'll immediately guess when I don't start suggesting a glass of wine at about 6pm! As others have said, it would be far better to announce the happy news with a bit of reassurance.

Welcome all the new people!!!

ImpatientCat · 29/11/2010 22:42

JimmyChoo17:
My partner has been great, but hasn't gotten quite excited yet.
Two close friends of ours both went through several MC's before succeeding, so I think he thinks this is the norm. I come from a big family and have 3 sisters who all have kids and none of them have MC'd, so I guess I'm a bit less stressed about it.
I think he may feel like he has to dampen my expectations for my own good, which annoys me slightly. The result is that he shows no curiosity about it at all, but that could also just be the initial shock wearing off.
Feel like a complete cow for complaining, as I know he means well and is only being a bit protective, but I do wish he would show some of the excitement that I know he feels.

Well, at least he avoided his best mate's mistake of responding with an "Oh shit" as he was told about the impending fatherhood.

:-)

JimmyChoo17 · 30/11/2010 17:55

Woo hoo perfect little bean and heartbeat for my scan today
JimmyChoo is mega happy!!!

Had the sorest nipples today mind ouch!! Anyone sussed how to relieve that yet? People always say their boobs are sore, mine are fine except nipples so are people kist saying boobs to not be as graphic as nipples or am I just having odd pains??? It's mainly when cold.

highheelsandequations · 30/11/2010 18:53

Congrats jimmychoo, how many weeks are you?

My nipples are definitely more sensitive but mostly my boobs are sore down the sides or when I roll over in the night or climb the stairs too energetically!

highheelsandequations · 30/11/2010 18:53

Sorry, just saw earlier post with your dates!

ImpatientCat · 30/11/2010 19:35

Congrats JimmyChoo!
Definitely with you on the sore nipples. The rest of my boobs are fine, but the nipples are burning when I go outside.
Not found a trick yet, except get back inside and stay warm!

JimmyChoo17 · 30/11/2010 19:56

Yep that's like mine! The epu is freezing and I thought they were going to drop off! Why do they do that?

ImpatientCat · 30/11/2010 23:27

No clue, but I'm taking it as happy reassurance that all is well. It's pretty much the only symptom I've got (besides the BFP), as not had any sickness to speak of yet.
Am 6+2 and have read I might start feeling ill in a week or two. Or I could be one of the two out of ten that doesn't really get it Grin?
But then I'll probably worry that I don't feel pregnant enough.
God this waiting sucks! Have only known for 3 days and hate the first trimester already!

waterplate · 01/12/2010 20:23

I have two days to go until I get to the point where I MC last time round (6+2 in July) so am feeling really positive about getting beyond that stage. I don't have any sickness and would really like to so I know it's all going ahead ok but a pack of 10 home tests arrived in the post today so I have my way of checking all is well!

Good luck to all with the long, long wait...

Danilou22 · 01/12/2010 21:11

two weeks tommorrow until my first scan!! I can't believe I am 10 weeks now, it is finally starting to sink in I think!

ImpatientCat · 02/12/2010 09:30

Congrats Danilou, nearly done with the 12 week wait!
I have personally never experienced time moving this slowly in my life.

I am so new to this. It was very unexpected (but happy) news, and since my life has instantly changed completely it feels like it was weeks ago, but in reality I only found out last Saturday, so not even known for a week. I find it hard to believe that the rest of the world keeps pretending nothings changed Wink.
And it can be hard to accept that after calling the midwife and quitting drinking, there is really NOTHING left to do, just counting days...
My boyfriend's putting money down on me going potty before xmas.
Xmas Grin

ImpatientCat · 02/12/2010 09:32

waterplate: Keeping fingers crossed for you!

badkitty · 02/12/2010 10:44

Hope everyone ok. I was wondering, I don't seem to have any symptoms really but wake up every morning basically feeling really hungover and crap - not morning sickness so much as general headache and all over achiness. It seems very unfair when I am not drinking! Anyone else have this?

katherine2008 · 02/12/2010 11:52

Hi Badkitty. yes, I feel hungover every morning - although it could be because I'm breathing through my mouth! This is my second pregnancy and I was really nauseous with dd1 for about a month, to the extent that I couldn't open the fridge. This time, I get the odd wave of nausea once a day, but apart form sore boobs and complete exhaustion, nada.

JimmyChoo17 · 02/12/2010 19:02

Badkitty. I felt like that without headache from morning until night was like. It from Sunday until today. I felt human from this afternoon again. Do your symptoms come and go like that ladies?

ImpatientCat · 02/12/2010 20:03

Apart from massive boobies and a slight queasiness in the evenings, I haven't really got any symptoms.
Well maybe I'm a little more tired, but that's about it so far. Don't know if I should be relieved or worried about that, but I'm only 6+4, so it's a bit too early to tell yet.
It's not like I'm hankering to spend time with my head down the loo, and on the one hand; 2 of 10 women simply don't react to the hormones with sickness, but on the other hand I hear you are statistically less likely to have an MC if you've got the sickness. Anyone else out there who doesn't really feel that pregnant yet? And who don't know if it's a good or bad thing?

challsworth · 02/12/2010 20:04

4+5 on my first. Glad to see feeling hungover in the mornings isn't that odd. Really sore boobs when I cycle over a road hump or run. I'm not sure why - but I didn't expect symptoms so soon.

badkitty · 02/12/2010 20:15

Glad I'm not the only one with the hangover! Weirdly I feel alright this evening but can't face the thought of a proper dinner - almost unheard of for me as am normally starving. So am having toast and jam for dinner! Nice and healthy! Booked scan for next Thursday when hopefully (v. unclear on dates) I will be 7 weeks. Wish I didn't have to wait a week though!

Danilou22 · 02/12/2010 20:17

I literally felt sick for about 2 weeks before I tested so just after conception then it really kicked in at about week 5 and just doesn't let up, although at 10 weeks my energy levels are going up a bit. I am sick in the morning when I brush my teeth then I feel very sick at lunch time and am often sick when I get home from work and seem to feel more hungover in the evenings and oh my god the taste in my mouth, that really needs to go now. I can cope with the sore boobs!

JimmyChoo17 · 02/12/2010 20:22

It'll pass soon enough bad kitty! I had no idea how I would get thru the 2 weeks then next thing I knew it was Tuesday and I was given my good news. I'm supposed to wait to my 12 week scan now but I go on holiday at 12 weeks and won't be back until my 15 th week! No way I am waiting until then now so I am having a private scan will cost me £100 that I don't have but I want to know all is ok before I go.

My new symptom today is a breakout in spots.....great! And hair that greases easily.

Now when does the supposable pregnancy glow appear???? False advertising I reckon!

JimmyChoo17 · 02/12/2010 20:24

Danilou - did or do u have better days than others? Not sure whether I should worry if feel better for a wile....now hoping I feel horrid in the morning again
