I was reading the times yesterday (annoying can't post link because now have to pay for their website) was article about women having her first baby at 30 and how all her friends were still waiting. Midwife said all first time mums generally under 20 or over 34 unless it was unplanned.

So - who here is on their first pregnancy, how old are you (and if you don't mind saying was it planned?) if its your second pregnant how old were you first time?

Just nosey really couldn't really believe that 30 was young for a first pregnancy...

I'm 28, due today and it was def planned!

Several friends my age also recent mums/ currently preggers. Think background, occupation etc are probably very relevant

First (& last) pregnancy at 42 - planned by DH Grin.

takingtheplunge · 17/08/2010 15:31

First a couple of months before my 33rd birthday, planned. Now 35 and ttc again. Was one of, but not THE first of my friends.

Lydma2be · 17/08/2010 16:01

Planned and very much wanted and I am 31 - but only 6 wks gone so keep fingers crossed!

Swazzee · 17/08/2010 17:08

I'm 31 and it's they're our first. Totally unplanned, so I guess I do fall into the original stats quoted.

Interestingly, of all my friends in London I'm the first to be having kids. But compared to the people I used to go to school with, I seem to be years behind them!

Starting trying for dd when I was 24, had her when I was 29 - so yes, she was definitely planned.

I'm 32 now and starting to get a little anxious to start trying again.

DC1 36, should have been 35 but had a MC with complications.

DC2 39.

Both were planned and it wasn't a choice to wait that long, I just didn't meet DH until I was 31.

I had DS at 26 and am currently ttc#2 at 29 (it's taking too bloody long though!)

mum4966 · 18/08/2010 01:47

Hi there, I had my 1st at 26, 2nd at 31, 3rd at 41 and the final, last one is due in 6 weeks and I'll be 44!

Mad eh??

GoldenKippers · 18/08/2010 08:54

I'm 31 but will be 32 on my due date. Didn't meet husband until I was 27 though.

My mum had me at 29 and from what she tells me that was considered quite ancient for a first baby at the time. How things have changed!

When I first looked on Friends Reunited when I was about 23 quite a few of the people I was at school with had already had children. I have one university friend who had her first at 25. Most friends and acquaintances who have sprogged recently have been aged between 28 and 38.

First pregnancy conceived at 35 - hadnt been in a position to have kids before then - met my DH at 32 and got married last year - read the maternity policy at work wrong as would have started ttc on honeymoon had I realised I didnt have to wait!

Was worried it might take ages by conceived second month trying and now 2 days short of being 24 weeks so hopefuly it willbe ok.

Since falling prenant have turned 36 and will be 36 when due.

We are hoping to have two kids so if this goes well we plan to start ttc DC2 from November 2011!
