A safe place to rant so you keep your frustrations away from your child.

I just want to sake ‘For fuck sake DD just sit in the potty for 10 seconds for a try and then we can go out to the aquarium. It’s not that difficult just sit your arse down’.

I've found my people! 3yr old ds will not poo on the potty or toilet! It goes EVERYWHERE!! Any tips?!

mrsoutnumbered · 02/08/2018 08:22

@letmepeeinpeace my son did this! Every time he did it I said 'poo goes in the potty' and sat him on the potty. Putting the potty somewhere more private helped too.

He did it for about 2/3 weeks. Drive me mad.

I don't know whether to give up and try again at Christmas. DD is 2 next week and had seemingly mastered pees and poos as long as she was bare bummed...we tried clothes and it has been a disaster to the point she's back to having accidents even when clothes-less. She's just peed all over her mattress while hiding under the duvet. Any ideas? Pretty much about to reach for the pull ups!

mrsoutnumbered · 02/08/2018 16:05

@ClaraSchumannsCat my 27 month old is the same - as soon as I put any clothes on her she just wets them. It seems like a backward step now, but I'm just not sure how to go on!

ClaraSchumannsCat · 02/08/2018 17:03

@mrsoutnumbered it's a bit soul destroying when they were doing so well! I think we are going to embrace the bare bum approach as much as possible (may as well while there's a bit of summer left) and fingers crossed it'll click soon. And I am resolving not to loose my cool (again)....though I'll prob be back again tomorrow, despairing!

There is light at the end of the tunnel!
The last two or three days have really been pretty good. I did put a pull up on earlier because we had to go out, but she didn’t wet it for ages and other than that she has been mostly dry.
I think we have been over prompting.
I put pull ups on over the weeekend & we tried not to mention it at all & just relax a bit, I do think she’s been picking up in how stressful I’ve been finding things.

Sending you all good luck vibes Smile

I found that if I whisper to DS that we have to be quiet and listen for a wee wee, he will actually stop mucking around on the potty and focus and nine times out of ten a wee will follow.

This was after three days of him having no clue why I kept putting him on the potty, so refusing and then peeing on the floor less than two seconds after standing up! Thought I was going insane.

No such luck when out and about though as far too many distraction in unfamiliar toilets/baby changes!

Coldhandscoldheart · 03/08/2018 15:08

I spoke to soon and pride goeth before a fall.
She has just pooed on my bed. My actual bed what I sleep on.

Coldhandscoldheart · 03/08/2018 15:15

I will confess, I did not keep my cool. Or my temper.

LittleMy77 · 03/08/2018 17:00

Gah; DS has become a poo refuser. Previously a 1-2 a day, now nothing for 2 days and clearly needs to go but REFUSES to sit and try.

Any suggestions?! I've tried bribes, music on my phone, books, letting him go himself and feeding him stuff that should make it easier (fibre and fat based stuff and fresh oranges - al stuff that never usually fails)

The only way he'll even contemplate it I think is in a nap / overnight nappy and I'm really loathed to start that

Where do we go from here?!

Hello. I'm desperate for help! DD is 2.9 and we started potty training 4 weeks ago. The first 2 weeks were great, she only had 1 accident and was telling me when she needed the potty. However, the last 2 weeks it's like the novelty has worn off. She's pooing in her pants and holding wees in until I force her to sit on the toilet/potty and go for one. I'm really losing my rag which I know I shouldn't but she was doing so well. What do I do? I feel like going back into nappies is not an option now we're this far down the line?
