Ooh, how lovely - am rather jealous of meet up, but got Mum here, so will be taking advantage of her instead!!

HAve a smashing time!

What time are you guys mtg Sybs/LadyT? I doubt I can make it due to DD1's drop off and pick up times and DD2's nap but I love the idea.

DD2's determination is starting to scare me. She has a will of iron and is slightly obsessive so if she decides she wants something she is an utter nightmare. On Sunday we were at my aunt's and DD2 heard my aunt telling me she had made a cake and we cld all have some at 4ish. It was noon. DD2 spent the next four hours shouting "CAKE!" in the same tome that a Sargeant Major would shout FIRE. You cld distract her for a couple of mins but then she wld remember and the word "CAKE!" cld be heard throughout the village. This was pretty normal for DD2. In fact this morning the nanny remarked that in 15 years she had never met a child with a will like DD2's. At 18mnths ahe is more determined than teenagers the nanny has cared for. The nanny remarked she will either be an incredible success and rule the world or she will be in prison before her 18th birthday. I can't help but agree.

Veggiemummy · 07/07/2010 18:26

Avo that's amazing, to remember cake all afternoon. DS2's trilingual abilities pale in comparison. He can copy words but to comprehend something then remember it all afternoon would be pretty cool. I say 'would' as I'm sure for you it's actually a bit of a nightmare. DS2 goes completely mental if he sees a lollypop. If it's in his view and I don't give it to him he goes ape. However, if I remove it from his view he carries on for a couple more minutes until he seems to forget what he is tantruming about and wanders off. If I produce the lollypop a little while later (ie after lunch when I said he could have it) he acts as if it's the first time that day he has seen it. I must add now I don't give him lollipops often, just when I need him to be quiet & stay in one place for a period of time. How bad is that, it's my mobile sugery babysitter!

Beans sorry about your piles, how are your nips?

Oh my goodness, I've just made the most delicious banana muffins! I'm never going to lose any weight at this rate.

Oooh, I don't know, Avo - what do you reckon, Sybs? Lunchtime? I can do whenever. It would be fabby to see you if you could come down. That is amazing and singular that your DD can be that focussed at such a tender age. I predict great things!

DD's supper is chocolate buttons and popcorn. She has turned everything else down. Why don't I just whip up some candyfloss to add to her nutritional smorgasbord

I'm helping DD eat her popcorn so I'm not going to lose any weight either, Veggie Banana muffins sound lovely (as long as they aren't too sweet).

JollyBear · 07/07/2010 19:52

Hello everyone,

Avo That is very impressive, although frustrating for you! Like your DD I would have had cake on my mind for four hours too, although I would have been able to control myself not to actually shout cake... I think .

Has summer been back since she posted on her thread about being really tired? I hope she has been to be checked out. Hope you are feeling a bit better summer if you are reading.

ladyT I did chuckle at your experience with the delivery men! I've never tried DD with popcorn, is it plain or is there some flavour on it?

veggie Yah for the Dutch! Our German neighbours are very excited about the match tonight. I expect I'll hear them shouting with either joy or sorrow throughout the evening.

DD ate double portions of her lunch at nursery today . She also had chunks of grapes, satsuma and pear for snack, items she seldom, if ever, will contemplate at home. Is it just having other children eating around her? I wish I could conjure up similar results at home! Yeterday she refused even weatabix.

Veggiemummy · 07/07/2010 20:03

Lady popcorn was one of the things I could get DS1 to eat too. However, I used to try to up the calorie content by adding butter, you can imagine this was not good for my waistline. Also Lady I did add some honey to the muffins but the three large old bananas i used probably would have been enough. Can you eat fruit sugars ok, or is that a no no too. Hilariously DS1 the fruit avoider loves the muffins even though the bananas have barely been mashed so are present in large & quite obvious chunks in the muffins.

Jolly I was just thinking of Lightening, I hope she is ok she has been quiet on facebook.

Avo your fear of Paul the octopus oracle made me giggle, he really freaks you out doesn't he.

EffiePerine · 07/07/2010 20:10

Veggie, you are an inspiration. I gave just stuck a batch of banana muffins in the oven. I'm out of baking powder but I do have buttermilk, so I substituted ordinary milk for buttermilk and added soda. No idea what the results will be! I can always take them into work - the girls in the office can be relied on to chomp through cake and biccies of all descriptions.

EffiePerine · 07/07/2010 20:16

Woohoo! They worked! V light and fluffy. I made them in fairy cake cases so I now have 20 muffins...

JamInMyWellies · 07/07/2010 20:46

Ooh banana muffins hey sound good, recipie please.

Style & beauty advice ladies if you will. Have just purchased arrived this arvo (love internet shopping) gladiator sandals these am I decending into mutton territory?

Hopefully Summer will check in with us soon, have to say it did sound like a lot more sleeping than should be striclty right.

AVO love your DD sounds just like DS2.

5am waking is killing me, anyone want a couple of extra children a dog oh and will chuck in a DH too. Has been a tough day. I nearly fell in the stream while trying to wash fox poo off the dog and have grazed and bruised my ankle top of foot, grr.

WHo are you all cheering on tonight I want Spain to win.

Veggiemummy · 07/07/2010 20:48

Hooray Effie!!! Not sure if I should be described as an inspiration based on muffin making but I'm glad you now have a set of yummy muffins. I didn't have baking powder either, I have been using something I bought the other day which was in the baking section at the shop but not quite sure what it is. It's a White powder in a jar, I think it could be cream of tartar. Anyway the muffins come out ok & taste lovely.

Jam I like those sandals. Surely we're not of an age yet were we need to worry about being muttons, please tell me we aren't!

JamInMyWellies · 07/07/2010 21:00

Veg am pretty sure I am a bit older than you.

Avocadoes · 07/07/2010 21:01

Sounds like a bad day Jam. How did the fox poo get there?

I am cheering Spain but it's not the most exciting match.

V jealous of all the baking. I feel sick from over eating after disgusting gorging at dinner. DH out so I thought I would have a healthy, no carb dinner. I made a HUGE Greek salad with a whole cucumber, two linnets if cherry toms, about 30 olives and a bit of feta. I thought I'd put half in the fridge for tomorrow but the lack of carbs left me so ravenous that I ate the lot. Ugggg. Can hardly move. I'm cross with myself as I am doing well on the weight loss. I have lost 4lbs this month and now have a BMI under 22 for the first time in 4 years.

JamInMyWellies · 07/07/2010 21:03

Our dog is very countryfied. Am amazed he hasnt started wearing hunters and a barbour. He likes to roll in it. Tis vile stuff the only way of removing the smell is to douse the dog in ketchup and let it dry in then hose him down. Was trying tp get the worst of it off before we got home.

Avocadoes · 07/07/2010 21:05

A linnet being a punnet. Stupid phone.

Go Spain!

Avocadoes · 07/07/2010 21:06

Ketchup?!? How did you ever come up with that idea?

JamInMyWellies · 07/07/2010 21:10

Dog groomer told me.

Veggiemummy · 07/07/2010 21:21

OMG the deep sea oracle octopus was right.

Jam I think I might be older than you, I'm 37

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 07/07/2010 21:34

Yeah, well, I am THIRTY HUCKING EIGHT!!

Avo, you looked beautiful and also vv slim at the wedding so if you have lost even more weight I think you can afford a bit of feta. I like a linnet of tomatoes. Sounds very romantic.

I pity you, Jam - fox poo STINKS. And mutton my arse! You are a mere stripling.

I am terrible with the swearing today. Back to 'golly' tomorrow. DP has scratched the kitchen floor with the new washing machine. It's clearly cursed.

Avocadoes · 07/07/2010 21:40

That is v sweet of you to say Lady but I was spanxed in at the wedding. I reckon I could still do with losing another 6lbs which would take me back to the weight I was when I met DH (nearly 8 years ago - yikes!). DH ruined my figure with his love of food. I can stop myself gorging if food is out of sight but if it's around I am like a grazing cow. With DH there is always food around.

Sorry about your floor. The machine dies sound cursed. However, hats off to you for shouting your way to custody with Boots. When I lose it i only ever make things worse.

Rubena · 07/07/2010 21:40

Thanks all - yeah, ok bout the db visit really and it's good it's just o/night at first and then 3 nights after baby comes - all will be fine and like nothing was ever wrong I'm sure.

Kiwi hope the rash got sorted - no help here i'm afraid - I've got one but it's clearly from chafing - yes I officially have thigh chafing

I am having terrible thigh and bum pain trying to sleep at night. had it in late stages with ds too. I think it is pressure when I lay on them from swelling and fluid and I have to keep swapping sides - it's awful. I've got major thigh swelling - hence the chafing - charming.

Hmm I could possibly try for Fri although I'm not sure yet as I have a couple of things to do plus waiting to see about a delivery that may come. But would it be Battersea or have you decided on St James?

Jam I washed the dog today - 3 times in furminator shampoo. Shedding is my major drama at the moment - i can't stand it and seem to be vacuuming 3 x's a day. Gonna get her 'fixed' so hoping it will settle it as the Vet even said they shed more when not neutered.
Like the shoes - geez how old are you anyway? You're making me feel ancient. I so badly need to re-visit my wardrobe after baby2 arrives

Our lawn is really coming along. Been gardening and well impressed with it. It was a shambles when we moved in. As are my tomatoes

Crack-den-ification working a treat for the peeping toddler here. He doesn't even bother now

You are an inspiration Vag! but for me, it's your motivation and all your organisation skills and perseverance in life in a new country. I could do that when I was young and went to Japan for 18mths plus the US (Although no lang probs there!) but with 2 kids I'm not sure I'd have the energy. You impress me.

Lady - great that your consultant is re-visiting the CS date. Gotta love the Private that said - how does it work regarding going into labour early in that situation? For me, i would have any Tom Dick or Harry Registrar on duty and they wouldn't call my consultant in, but i thought they might if you are private, but just asked dh and he says no doubt it, even if private if that was the case I'd want my money back Anyway, you won't have to worry as having the 34 week scan and revising the date will avoid any worry about that thankfully

Avo don't worry that dinner is all good. Well done on the 4lbs - tremendous effort!

having a meltdown over baby names still. I still have about 5 on the top list we I keep going around in circles and I think I am over thinking them all and now can't think properly about it!
Girls are hard!

Avocadoes · 07/07/2010 21:42

Bloody, bloody, bloody phone. How does "success" become "custody"?

Right I am now aware I am clogging up the thread with my witterings. I shall go and update my photo albums instead.

Veggiemummy · 07/07/2010 21:44

Didn't they install the machine Lady?

The reason I asked about who the delivery was, is we ordered a washing machine from Tesco direct for the London place, when we had 4 young Aussie girls living there. I gave the delivery driver one of their numbers as a contact. He installed the washing machine and took the old one. But he didn't install it properly and didn't push it into place properly. I think he did it so the girls could do a check wash and then push it in. But he didn't tell them to do a test cycle. As a result they didn't realise he hadn't screwed the hose on properly until several weeks later by which time we had a very waterlogged utility room floor. Worst of all he actually texted the girl whose number I had given him to see if she was interested in going out. She said he was a bit yukky & leary. I was furious but she didn't want me to complain because she was worried he'd come back, or contact her again.

Avo I like your mutterings. They make me giggle.

Pubie that's sweet but I am actually quite a lazy sod and very disorganised. A little worried that I am coming across organised. Think I might get caught out lying?!?!?
