haaaa - thats better!!

last nite, we had my DP's cousin at our house with his wife and 2 kids... there were 1.5 yrs old and 4.5 yrs old (i thought she was 6!! as she takes after her Dad who is 6.5).. anyway got to know them and had a lovely evening.. i went upstairs to get babas bodysuit ready for bed as she was worned out playing with them two.. i came back downstairs and my baba let out an almighty scream (everyone was in the living room with baba), what had happened was the 1.5 yrs old bit babas hand and baba just stood there in her playpen in shock and suddenly WWWWAAAAAAAIIIIILLLLLLLL (awww poor thing!)

ive gotta go as baba is tired and need to put in bed for her nap (cant you hear her?!)

dd1 (12 1/2) is off to Cyprus today with neighbours, am torn between being mad with worry and mad with jealousy

jbadgirl · 17/08/2005 09:23

Good morning everyone,

Ahhhh have the rest of the week off, am going to enjoy a bit of time to myself whilst ds is still going to nursery!

Dont feel too bad about sending him there while im off as i need a break and time to sort out my flat! Going to see my nephew later he is just over a week old (brudy!)

jbadgirl · 17/08/2005 19:05

HAVE SOME GREAT NEWS!

DS ROLLOED TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

geogteach · 17/08/2005 19:10

Fabulous JD ..now the fun really begins
DS2 is just about camando crawling but not getting far yet which is just as well as left him playing starkers in his room while I ran the bath only to come back and find him on the other side of the room doing a pooh

maisiemog · 17/08/2005 19:40

Jbad. Yipeeee! He's a clever little thing.
Geo haha! poor you. Your ds doesn't waste much time does he?
Biglips - we call it bobos too. I always tell AlfiePog 'bedtime for bobos' Whatever that means. :?
Kath - I bet she has a great time - it's a big step though, she'll probably come back and move into a flat.

biglips · 17/08/2005 20:11

jbad - hooray! i bet youre so proud

im proud of mine as she called my name out in Matalan saying "Ma ma, Ma ma" (hooray at last as ive been practising for weeks now as seh had been saying "Da da" and "na na" but no "Ma ma" till today (she is also calling my DP - "Ra" as his name is Rob).

geog - oops! . Whenever i change DDs very dirty nappy, she cant help but feel down there like seh is thinking "wha is that, i wonder?" so i have to use plenty of wipes - i should invent babys handcuffs

Riebee · 17/08/2005 23:43

Biglips are you sure she wasn't trying to say Matalan....sorry couldn't resist . joking apart thats lovely
I thought ds said mama this morning but I wasn't sure and he wouldn't repeat it, will have to wait until next time. I'm determind after all this waking and feeding at night the little monkeys going to say mama first.

maisiemog · 18/08/2005 12:34

Yeah totally Riebee!!! Alfiepog kind of goes mmmmammma when he sees me, but I don't know if he is only saying that to me or to plants, cars, dogs etc... so not sure if that counts. He says dada all the time, completely randomly, so that definately doesn't count.
I don't think he would say our real names, as we never use them, just nicknames.
'My mummy's name is Mog and my daddy is Pig' - first day at school.
It's pig like Babe, you know "That'll do pig!"
Went for the old 8 month check yesterday. What a hoot, he was totally hyper (missed his nap) and had to sit up on the scales because he wouldn't lie down at all. He spent the whole time trying to eat the paper that was layed down onto things for hygiene. The HV commented that he was 'very quick' which was shorthand for completely berserk .
How's that rolly baby Jbad?
Geo is ds enjoying his soya marge? Ick! Poor old boy, give him a hug from me.
I once tried putting olive oil into Alfiep's food to give him some extra calories, but I don't think he was too keen.
Hi all pregnant ladies, how are you all getting on. What are all your dates???? What's the latest news?
We are about to buy a used car, just a small one for nipping around town, but we have a Jane Powertrack, which is a bit bulky. I've posted a new topic to see what other people use for theirs and have had a few suggestions.
Does anyone have any ideas for a big-booted car under 1.5 litres?
We have looked at the Fiat Brava and the Nissan Almera. I wanted a Polo, but I think it would be too small. Someone suggested a Golf, but they don't seem to offer very good value. They are either GTIs (I don't think so) or really expensive and have been 'round the clock'.
Are there any good websites or magazines that you know of for this kind of thing??/

Riebee · 18/08/2005 16:40

Honestly the HV's from my clinic are soo crap. Ds3 had his check up appt for 29th July which I had to cancel as we are on holiday,I was told someone would get back to me, I've just phoned as I've not heard from them and the woman was like 'Oh I'm not sure who's your HV now because so & so has left, whatsaname is away for 6mths, thingymabob has not been in much because she's writing up her thesis so I leave a message for la-la but she won't be able to get back to you for a bit as she's on holiday' Good job I'm not to worried about anything then!

Maisiemog...lol at Alfiepog eating the paper..thats the sort of thing monkey boy would do only he would probably try to eat the hv herself.....car wise we have a ford focus which has a v big boot, not exactly a small car though. Don't know if the ford fusion has good boot. We've got to change our car and I just wish someone would come along and say 'here yer go this is what you'll be needing'. I hate looking and cars surprising for a blokie dh can't stand it either

KathH · 18/08/2005 18:06

We finally got round to the 8 mth check today - altho babymole is 10 1/2 mths now - he weighs 21lb. He was not happy when they tried to measure him and had gone beserk by the time he had to sit on the scales. Oh and apparently he has a small head ?!

biglips · 18/08/2005 19:04

i think mine got a small head too as a lady yesterday said "But the size of her?!" i was pmsl.

OP posts:
biglips · 18/08/2005 19:06

ive got a Audi estate and the boot is huge but its a 2.6 litre..... ive seen them VW Golf estate and the boot is big as its deep and it was a 1.6ish

OP posts:
biglips · 18/08/2005 19:07

but at least she is saying "ma ma" and not "da da" so much now ha ha ha ha haaaaaa

OP posts:
maisiemog · 18/08/2005 21:56

Now Biglips!! Stop bribing dd to say mama! I saw you the other day - whenever she said dada, you took her dinner away.
Riebee, I hope you get LaLa eventually, I love the tellytubbies, and it would be much more interesting for your monkey boy to eat.
We live near carmile in Edinburgh, it's like a massive road full of car dealerships, so we are going to go round putting our pram in all the boots.

biglips · 19/08/2005 13:01

oh well baba was sick again (poss my fault!!) as this is twice now that she threw back up the weetabix... but i brushed her teeth an hour later with toothpaste and she was sick!! so whether it was the toothpaste or the weetabix did it? (the first time she had weetabix i didnt brush her teeth though!)

florenceuk · 19/08/2005 19:44

Well, at her check-up DD wee-ed all over me when I took off her nappy for the weighing - nice! Better than her eight week check-up though when she wailed through the whole process.

Biglips is your DD still throwing up? Or was it a morning thing? Impressed you brush her teeth in the morning BTW, I only do DD in the bath at night and then she gets a feed after (and at 2am and 4am at the moment...zzzz) which HV lectured me on as potentially tooth-rotting. But I'm not going to wake her up from dreamland!

biglips · 20/08/2005 22:04

hi everyone - just a quick note as im knackered as we've been out to Knowsley Hall to a funfair with Dps 6 yrs old DD as we went to see Noddy. One of teh characters took the lollypop out of DDs mouth and DD was laughing and so was everyone else (as we were all sitting down on the chair to watch a show) then suddenly DD burst out crying cos she thought the character (whatever its name was!! as i dont know nothing about Noddy!!!) was trying to give the lollypop back to DD.. everyone was saynig "AAAWWWWWWWWWWW!" me and Dp couldnt stop laughing behind DD;s back = poor mite!

Baba got a snotty nose again - yep she is full of cold AGAIN! as it came out of the blue yesterday but more slimey slugs coming out of her nose!!

nite nite! XX

Biglips AlfiePog gets Readybrek every day. It's based on oats instead of wheat (you never know) and you can mix it with kettle water or hot formula.
I make enough so that he can have it twice in the day (lazy mummy ) and blend in raisins or apricots and fruit like nanas mango or tinned.
He lerves it.
A big box lasts for ages.
Kiss for poor old baba with her slugs.
We are off to meet my auntie and uncle today - they have never met AlfiePog before, because all my rellies live in the SouthEast of England and we moved to Edinburgh years ago, so it's just me and my mum and dad here.
So he will be a popular baby today.

hotmama1 · 22/08/2005 13:24

Hello girls - I am having lunch so time for a quick post.

DD still doesn't have any teeth - so is still just gumming stuff! She started waving at the weekend - so cute - and so proud of herself when we waved back.

Any ideas to sort out a runny bottom problem? DD has now had the runs for nearly 3 weeks - the record has been for 6 clothing changes in a day! However, a stool sample has shown no problems. Very interesting was my reply to the doc - but still has the runs so what are we going to do, so he dispensed some paediatric kaolin - seems to be making it less runny - but this isn't sorting out the problem is it?

Any ideas - dp thinks I'm being neurotic when I expressed an opinion that she may have developed some sort of allergy?

Also, dd just doesn't seem to eat much - under no cirmumstances will she do weetabix - but will do yogurt and organix banana/prune porridge. Also lunchtime/dinner can be hit and miss affairs.

I'm not worried about her weight as she is nearly 24 Lbs and is happily following the 91st centile line and she has always been a good sleeper.

However, I am concerned about her not being starving as she must be using loads of calories with all of her fast crawling and her runny bum - I am worrying unnecessarily?

maisiemog · 22/08/2005 14:19

Hi Hotmama,
good to hear from you, and you look fab - just radiant!
Poor dd, Alfie has had runny bum, but only the odd time and he had nappy rash at the same time.
I think he had a bug, but 3 weeks sounds like a bit more than that.
Has her diet changed from 3 weeks ago at all? She could just be eating more dirt than normal - could it be something new in the house or wherever she goes that she is eating/licking?
The main thing with runs is to keep up the hydration levels, she sounds like she is getting plenty to eat.
Alfiepog is a nightmare at the moment - I have been throwing away loads of food - it's his teeth.
Oh that's a thing, could it be her teeth causing the runs - that's not uncommon? Or perhaps something you are using to help her teethe?
I have a theory that AlfiePog gets a nappy rash during teething because his painkiller/homeopathic remedy quotient goes up by 100%.
Is she breastfed? It could be your diet that's affecting her.
Can't think of anything else. I'll have a scout around. Maybe you could start a new thread somewhere like health or food?
Wave to dd.

biglips · 22/08/2005 15:30

my baba get terrible runs when she is teething which she is atm (pong!) so as long she is happy thats all it matters
