last nite, we had my DP's cousin at our house with his wife and 2 kids... there were 1.5 yrs old and 4.5 yrs old (i thought she was 6!! as she takes after her Dad who is 6.5).. anyway got to know them and had a lovely evening.. i went upstairs to get babas bodysuit ready for bed as she was worned out playing with them two.. i came back downstairs and my baba let out an almighty scream (everyone was in the living room with baba), what had happened was the 1.5 yrs old bit babas hand and baba just stood there in her playpen in shock and suddenly WWWWAAAAAAAIIIIILLLLLLLL (awww poor thing!)

ive gotta go as baba is tired and need to put in bed for her nap (cant you hear her?!)

Maisiemog - vodka shot what are you like.
A CVS is like an amnio but you have earlier as the placenta cells are looked at rather than amniotic fluid - however there is a higher risk of miscarriage - personal choice if you want to take the risk - I also had one with dd. Therefore, I know that dd2 is negative for Downs -increased risk because of my age (38) and will be nearly 39 when dd2 is born. As it is a chromosomal test I def know it is a girl!

I have put up dd's travel cot permanently up and use this instead of buying a playpen - just the ticket - saves on storing even more babystuff as well.

Well seeing HV must have been right thing to do as now offered dietician appointment this week. Had thought of avocado, he already eats chips and anythingelse he can get his hands on. Currently adding calories by feeding him cake! Still not actually moving but trying hard, which of course will make him burn more calories. Think he probably is below weight, as his brother and sister were on 91st centile at this age and he is on the 9th! Having said all that he is a very cheerful chap and is very proud of demonstating his clapping ability at any opportunity. DD however is a devil, currently dislikes getting dressed and strips off as soon as i've finished the task, including removing her nappy, she is currently sleeping in the travel cot to stop her roaming round the house at night... just giving you all a taste of the terrible twos

maisiemog · 08/08/2005 19:43

Geo - that's good, now you can start to get to the bottom (so to speak) of the incredible eating boy. Hope it all goes well.
Biglips - you had better watch baba doesn't start building a replica of castle greyskull in your sitting room.
Hot - I'm relieved you didn't use vodka or spin the bottle or one of those things to determine the gender of your baby - I've heard they are unreliable.
Did you get the acronym I forget - AHD or something tested first? I'm 38 now as well, and I was told to expect a high acronym thingy and then get a nuchal thingy scan then finally an amnio. But my acronym thing wasn't high, so we didn't bother.
It's down to your genetic age as well - I bet you look really young and in good health.
I have totally aged since having AP, I think it's the prolonged sleep deprivation and stress.
We are thinking about another one as well, but not NOW! probably next year.
I was thinking it might be nice to be pg during winter (not too hot) and have a baby in early Spring (not to hot, but save on massive heating bills).
What do others think about the best time of year for being pg and giving birth???

biglips · 09/08/2005 09:27

same as here maisie about the pg side of it... as i was a walking boiler permantly from day one ..... i want another one hopefully by the time DD is 3, i have a newborn.

I am really proud - DD took her first step at the weekend!! She got really excited and fell over tho ... She can stand really well without any support now and loves to roam the room using various things to hold!

jbadgirl · 09/08/2005 18:16

Riebee · 10/08/2005 09:32

Hello sorry to just pop in but slave3babe posted on the Nov thread and I just wanted to her to know that I am sooo glad my ds3 is not the only baby in the world that doesn't sleep.

Well > I was wondering if you would mind if I posted on this thread aswell seeing as ds3 was born 28th Oct 04. I stayed with the Nov thread as he was due 3rd Nov but people hardly ever seem to post.

cerys · 10/08/2005 09:47

Welcome Riebee! My DS was born 24th October so not much between our boys! He was due 31st but surprised me by being a week early, because my 2DDs were born a day or two after their due dates.
I don't post on here as much as I should but life gets a bit hectic sometimes.
How old are your other boys? My girls are 5 and 3.

Riebee · 10/08/2005 09:59

Hi Cerys. My ds1 is 11yrs and ds2 is 8yrs. I had my first ds when I was 20 and seperated from their dad after 10 years met my lovely dh and had ds3 which explains the large age gap!
Ds3 was a week early but still weighed in at a whopping 9lb 9ozs. I shuddered to think if he had made his due date

maisiemog · 10/08/2005 12:25

Hi Riebee, I am on the November thread as well...tumbleweed....sound of wind whistling...bit quiet.
Welcome to this thread.
My ds: Alfiepog was due Nov 18th, but arrived on the 31st of October, so he was about 2.5 weeks early. Like you I couldn't decide which thread to join, so I joined both, but I agree this is a lively thread, full of lovely mummies (like us )
It used to be tricky classifying ds, as we were advised to treat him as if he were born on his due date (developmentally), he had jaundice for a long time after birth so didn't do much. But as they get older it seems to make less and less difference. So he's still 8 months developmentally, but he's 9 months in real money. How confusing???!!!
What do you do about this?

florenceuk · 10/08/2005 15:47

At work so very quiet (we virtually shut down over August). I am going to use up some of my annual leave by taking every Friday off though - and use it to get some child-free time - bliss! Although will spend most of this Friday cleaning up in advance of impending visitors (will have four children under 4 here over the weekend - eek!).

Welcome to Riebee, and snap, my baby doesn't sleep through either - well, she sleeps until about 5am which is still too early in my book. Tried ignoring her this am and she screamed and screamed until DH gave in. I think I have to move her out of our room, but where? DS can't be trusted I'm afraid.

BTW how much are your babies drinking (milk, that is)? DD seems to have cut right back on her day feeds over the last week or two, and I'm a bit sore today. Could be a phase associated with heavy cold but not sure.

Jb, don't feel you have to post "news" about your babe - just feel free to tell us how your days are going and how you're feeling.

A wow to slave2babe as well!!! She is really adorable though, I love your photos of her. Biglips, I think you have an escape artiste on your hands. DD goes crazy if I try to put her in a confined space, screams and screams (there is a pattern here isn't there...)

maisiemog · 10/08/2005 16:58

Florence, Alfie - the same!! 5:30 am!!!
He was doing really well, going to bed late and sleeping until lunchtime, with a couple of feeds in the morning, then zzzz.
Then he started waking earlier in the morning, so we moved back his bedtime. Now he's going to bed between 7:30 and 8:30. but his no-teeth are bothering him and he keeps waking up for about an hour at 5ish. Then it becomes more difficult to go back to sleep for me. And I'm rubbish at sleeping in the daytime. You should see the bags under my eyes.
AlfiePog's in with us as well, half cot half co-sleep.
Hopefully it will all settle down when the tooth arrives. He won't even let me look in his mouth. No mummy!!
I feel as if I spend the day chasing him and moving things out of his reach.
On Sunday he had his eye on a mug of coffee, which I kept moving. Then when my mum was looking at something I was sewing, he seized the opportunity, and mug. In the 30 seconds we were looking away - SPLOSH!!! Luckily it was tepid, left a lovely brown stain!!
New carpet anyone?!

Riebee · 10/08/2005 18:26

Florence my ds3 would drink milk all day long if I let him. I b/f my 1st ds until he was 8mths my 2nd until 14mths and it looks like I will be feeding ds3 forever! I do love feeding but some days I just can't see him cutting down. He has early morning feed and then I try not to feed him until the afternoon but since the school hols started and we are not doing the school run (nap time) he has been sneaking in the odd morning feed which is a bit of a backward step but I really can't be bothered to get out my jarmies to take him out in the pram until later. He then has a feed after his bath but usually despite my best efforts falls asleep half way through so I end up giving the rest about half an hour later. Well after this everything goes tits up ( pardon the pun ) and depending on how many times he wakes in the night or if I am to tired to do anything about it he gets plugged on for a few minutes here and there. I have so got to put a stop to this but I am soo tired half the time anything for a quiet life

Has anyone else got a nightmare like this?

KathH · 11/08/2005 07:41

Welcome to Reibee - babymole is 10 mths and 11 days and its only in the past couple of weeks thats he's been sleeping till about 6.30 - 7ish which I guess is the best it's going to get! He's got another 2 teeth on the way - he seems to get them in pairs so yet again he has a really sore bum - if the makers of Metanium annouce mega profits this year I'm going to ask for a cut of it! He's a right pokey little boy, there is nothing safe in our house including the cat.
Hope everyone's ok, not really had much of a chance to get on here lately. The dr has signed me off sick till the end of the month cos of my hernia, havent quite plucked up the courage to tell work yet altho as I got it thru having to move furniture at work I don't think they're in a great position to argue about it!

biglips · 11/08/2005 12:16

welcome Riebee - the more the merrier

yeah Jbad i agree with Flo as we are here to talk about anything as i go on about my mum but it makes me feels better talking about it on here

yesterday baba had nooooo sleep allllll ddaaaayyyyy, by the time it was 8pm, i gave her a big meal (chicken, peas, sweetcorn and potato), she loves it but she fell asleep on the highchair - awwww so sweet, ill have to put the piccy on here as its ssoo cute! so i put her into bed at 8.30pm - eeeek! BUT she slept thru till 8am this morning (blimey!!) as she usually in bed at 10pm (when i let her) and up at 7am (she can only have 9/10 hours sleep) as when she was younger i did put her into bed, she had 12 hours sleep but it messed up my routine BIG time!

anyway gotta go as baba is getting either hungry or tired (ive just came home from the playcentre)

baba now got 7 teeths (4 on top, 3 on bottom) i noticed when baba is teething badly - she doesnt cry but she fill her nappy up alot instead! (pong!)

Riebee · 11/08/2005 19:39

Right then Ladies any ideas?. Last night I decided enough was enough and ds3 was just going to have to go with out as much b/f in the night so considering it has been every couple of hours that he has been waking and having boobie for comfort I decided the stretching it to every 3hrs was fairly resonable. I fed him at 10pm and all hell broke loose at 12pm when he realised none was on offer, he screamed on and off for 2 hours before I finally gave in. He then woke up again at 4pm and I was just too tired to try again. So do you think I should gradually keep on trying to stretch it longer and longer or just make him go cold turkey and not give him any at all? I really don't know what to do, I never had this problem with my other two and I am at the end of my tether with it. :{

biglips · 11/08/2005 20:03

sorry to hear about the BF situation - sorry i cant help ya on this on but hope others will (or even better start a new thread and you'll get more response from the other mumsnetters)

Riebee · 11/08/2005 20:12

I've just been on the sleep thread and there are a couple of threads that are almost carbon copies of my situation, I'm afraid to say I don't think there are any answers just some babes sleep and some don't! ahh well at least he's healthy and total gorgeous and all this b/f has done wonders for my figure Maybe there will be a sleep miracle soon

KathH · 11/08/2005 20:21

Riebee - i know what you mean, my eldest 3 were all going from 7 till 7 at about 6 weeks (dd1 was actually 10 days old when she started going thru the night)! I guess it's payback time with babymole

maisiemog · 11/08/2005 23:09

Riebee, Alfie is getting a bit like that, although, thankfully, he isn't on a two hour feed rota (more like three )
I have noticed that his restlessness has coincided with more teething trouble, so I'm hoping it will settle down a bit when he finally gets some teeth.
Has your ds been doing this consistently, or is this a new thing?
One thing I noticed the other night, was when Alfie woke up and was standing in his cot, I went in and just laid him down again - and it worked. So I don't have to always feed him for him to go to sleep.
I wonder if you could decide to just cut out one feed, rather than all at once, e.g. the 2am feed.
Either cuddle him and give him a feeding cup with a drink in it or a dummy and try to get him to settle again, then feed him at the next feed.
Do you think he is eating enough during the day? Or is he sleeping a lot during the day, so that he can stay up all night?

biglips · 12/08/2005 17:51

same here maisie as i know how my DD have a tired cry, so i pick her up from the cot and rock her gently to sleep and she be out

help im sunburnt (poss more of windburn) and so is baba on her face, so ive cooled down babas face with a cold flannel and put calamine lotion for sensitive skin so she is ok for now (i hope!) and to give her plenty of water
