haaaa - thats better!!

last nite, we had my DP's cousin at our house with his wife and 2 kids... there were 1.5 yrs old and 4.5 yrs old (i thought she was 6!! as she takes after her Dad who is 6.5).. anyway got to know them and had a lovely evening.. i went upstairs to get babas bodysuit ready for bed as she was worned out playing with them two.. i came back downstairs and my baba let out an almighty scream (everyone was in the living room with baba), what had happened was the 1.5 yrs old bit babas hand and baba just stood there in her playpen in shock and suddenly WWWWAAAAAAAIIIIILLLLLLLL (awww poor thing!)

ive gotta go as baba is tired and need to put in bed for her nap (cant you hear her?!)

Well seen dietician and had 10 month check this week. Main recomendation seems to be to mix soy free marg into all his food to pile on the calories, yuk!
DS is trying hard to crawl but generally seems to end up head and feet on the floor and bum and arms in the air. At the moment though I can still rely on him to pretty much stay put, he has however discovered the xylophone so he can definately make himself noticed.

maisiemog · 12/08/2005 20:02

Geo - margarine! Bleuch! He must have a super-fast metabolism!!! I wish I did.
Biglips cold tea is good on burns. Alfie is very fair, like his daddy, so is pretty much always under a shadeababe thingy I bought him. Just his feet stick out sometimes.
Mind you I'm paranoid about the sun, I always wear super high factor sunblock - it's such a bore putting it on me and Alfiepog (and his daft dad).
That's how I've kept my youthful good looks, I've hardly got any warts on my face (sound of mirror breaking)

biglips · 13/08/2005 10:29

well baba slept thru the nite and she is still happy - i feel sssoooo guilty - ive learnt my lesson as im still learning (first time mummy)

Biglips - glad dd is feeling better. When dd1 was about 6 weeks old she was outside in her pram while I put the washing out she got sunburn on her face. It was only the first week in April and we were only out about 10 mins. The next day it all blistered up and then burst and got infected. I was sure I was going to get referred to social services!

biglips · 13/08/2005 11:11

awww! you can only learn our mistakes, so im goingto southport on thursday and ill make sure that baba got a hat on and tons of her suncream as it was bright yesterday but windy so didnt think i needed the suncream

maisiemog...Ds3 has always been like this since he was born. I got to a stage when he was 12wks old where he was wanting to feed every hour day and night. All the health vistor could say was 'well he's a big boy' or 'try and stretch his feeds out'. I ended up weaning him in the end as I just couldn't get him to have a bottle so wasn't able to top him up with formula. He is on 3 meals a day with plenty of cheese, milk etc included in his solids so I don't think it's hunger just comfort. I can get away with rocking him back to sleep sometimes but the little monkey won't have a dummy so most of the time he ends up on the boob. However last night I managed to stretch him to 3 hrs after 10pm which is a small but definate improvement

Biglips...I can remember Ds1 getting a bit sunburnt on one side of his face when he was a few weeks old. I felt sooo bad. Mind you he's 11 now and doesn't appear to have been mentally scarred for life.

well I better get on. we are painting Ds1 bedroom and I have sneaked on here while Dh has gone to B&Q

Thats very funny!

We are all tired today - Grace decided that 4am was a good time to get up so she did - she was not going back to sleep I left her to cry for 45 minutes at about 5am as I was so tired, but she was not taking no for an answer so I dropped them both off at nursery and had a good sleep thsi morning and lots of mumsnet reading!

biglips · 15/08/2005 16:11

good on you girl, as ive noticed today (abit weird) that twice ive had the music on loud whilst baba in the playpen and she fell asleep - ZZZZZzzzzzz.... i thought ill have to do more of that!

cazzybabs · 15/08/2005 16:13

Oh god - yes but I read the whole nutty thread! it reminds me that sometimes it best to think things but not to post!

jbadgirl · 15/08/2005 19:06

Hello everyone!

Ds often falls asleep at nursery when some of the kids cry but as they say " no sense no feeling!!"

He is coming along well and managed to get a carpet burn on his cheek just below his eye today!!

He was having a session with the physio and ot and they were practicing trying to get him to move, pushing off their hands with his feet (he was face down) he started on a foam mat but soon moved further and further to the edge and went on the carpet hence the burn!

It got better throughout the day (not that it was that bad to start with) but is still a little red!

Have seen the orthoptist and is going to refer him to london eye hospital for the electric diagnostics test, and he also said that their waiting list isnt too long hopefully!

florenceuk · 15/08/2005 20:17

JB sounds like things are coming along. poor babe getting a carpet burn!

Yes I read that chat thread too Cazzybabs. A MN classic I think. Biglips that piccy is just weird.

Well DD has chicken pox as well - got it on Friday, lots of spots and itching on Saturday but not too bad today. Went out to grab some essentials but tried to stay away from people - but risked latte at Cafe Nero which is in a dept store and always half empty. Did choke when a woman tickled DD under the chin as she was smiling at her ...luckily her spots are mostly on her bum and only a few scabbed over ones on her head. My CM's kids have it too, surprisingly we are not too popular!

DH away for a week in South Africa - so took my shower this am with wailing babe in cot and mad toddler on the loose. Either this or shower at 6am when DD goes back to sleep after her 5am feed? What do you think?

Yawn to all the early waking babies....zzzzzzz. Poor you Riebee, I did note that it made a difference to my mental state when DD shifted from waking at 3am and 6am to waking at 5am. Shame she's gone back to waking at 12am though....

cazzybabs · 15/08/2005 20:21

JB - hope your ds is not traumatised by the burn and that he gets the habit of crawling (which is important for brain development) and hope the pysio and OT were sutabily guility

maisiemog · 15/08/2005 21:52

Jbad, poor old ds, but just think, later he'll be able to tell other kids 'I got this mark wrestling with a crocodile'.
Kath, mad toddler in the house and wailing baby sound better than getting up at 5am for a shower (unless that is you cup of tea).
I've started to bring toys into the bathroom so when I put AlfiePog out of the bath (and I'm still in) he can amuse himself for approximately 1 minute 10 seconds. Then Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
He normally then stands up looking into the bath and tries to grab my boob. Ow! He has got very nippy hands.

florenceuk · 15/08/2005 22:31

I've only bathed with DD once - she latched on immediately and wouldn't get off! Annoyed DS. Since then, I've left it to DH to do communal bathing.

Riebee · 15/08/2005 22:58

ouch carpet burn

Florence.I always lock ds3 in the bathroom and give him all the bottles of shampoo etc to bash around, keeps him occupied for all of 5 mins!

I'm sat here covered in paint...just finished decorating Ds1's bedroom. Thank god thats done, I've had to resort to noctural painting due to all new crawling baby. Talking of which he seems to be settling down better at night since he has started roaming around, he even went for ...(wait for it) 4 hours last night... whoo hoo. It may not seem much but believe me it's classed as a major break through in our household. He woke up at 11pm and screamed for a bit but when he realised none was forthcoming he went back off. I have decided to keep stretching the gap bit by bit so maybe by the time he's 5 he will be sleeping through.

Biglips..weird tatoo, I reckon it's on the inner thigh as you can just see the pants at the top. Not that I've studied it much

biglips · 15/08/2005 23:53

riebee- im saying no more!!

well this is the 2nd time that baba can climb out of her walker and she did it in front of Dp! (he wasnt too impressed!)

went for a haircut today for a trim and baba was in her buggy and i had my bad facing towards her, i could hear her singing away along with the sonds that was playing from the radio, then she went all quiet and suddenly my hairdresser said "aww, look at her!!", i turned out adn her face was bright red and her mouth was wide open ready to let out an almighty SCREAM - WWWWWAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL... .. she was hungry!!

maisiemog · 16/08/2005 11:32

Biglips I have to admire you, you seem to take your dd everywhere with you.
I just couldn't relax with Alfie around, I'd rather leave him with his granny or daddy and run off.

cazzybabs · 16/08/2005 12:02

Today grace woke up at 5.30 - OK this my revenge for having a sleep through the night baby - but boy am I tired and grouchy. Poor dp yesterday he had to cope with "I hate the reception venue" him "tough - we've paid a big deposit" me "I have no friends" him "stop reading mumsnet and get out the house"...so tomorrow I shall do something other than stay in at read mumsnet!

Oh and she had learnt to climb stairs - and we have steep stairs - she managed to climb three with us all in different rooms and dd1 saying "mum Grace is playing on the stairs" and me saying "no she can't climb yet" - well she can and with me behind her she mamaged to climb all the way to the top to see Daddy!

biglips · 16/08/2005 16:31

hiya everyone !!!

yes i do take my DD literally everywhere with me but my mums head is up her bum atm so i love it when i hand DD over to DP on sundays so i have sundays all to myself (ahhhh bliss!) so i can bugger off to Archery
