last nite, we had my DP's cousin at our house with his wife and 2 kids... there were 1.5 yrs old and 4.5 yrs old (i thought she was 6!! as she takes after her Dad who is 6.5).. anyway got to know them and had a lovely evening.. i went upstairs to get babas bodysuit ready for bed as she was worned out playing with them two.. i came back downstairs and my baba let out an almighty scream (everyone was in the living room with baba), what had happened was the 1.5 yrs old bit babas hand and baba just stood there in her playpen in shock and suddenly WWWWAAAAAAAIIIIILLLLLLLL (awww poor thing!)

ive gotta go as baba is tired and need to put in bed for her nap (cant you hear her?!)

Hey, how is everybody this evening?

Ds sound asleep... ahhhh. He does sleep pretty well most nights now, goes to bed about 8-10 and wakes between 6 and 7!! He is eating soooo well at the moment and he has started putting on weight again. Now weighs 15lb 3oz! He is on high calorie milk still and on duocal which you sprinkle on food...this stuff is working wonders. Ds still only drinks around 150ml of milk a day and even that is a battle as he is now very strong and resists well (so glad i gave up b/f!)

Still waiting for an appointment in london for his eyes, soon i hope!

Our house hunting has been very successful and we have found a house and had our offer accepted. Fingers crossed all will go through.

Wedding plans are going ok too, i found my dress and chosen our wedding car, just need to sort out a fair few things like invitations, photographer, flowers etc.

Hope everyone is having a good night x

thats brill jbadgirl! my dd sleeps well too, she always eaten well which is good, think she weighs about 17lb now, and she tiny so ds must be really small, poor thing, hope he doing well!

whats everyone got them for their b.days???

jbadgirl · 24/09/2005 20:59

I bought ds a doughnut to sit in! A light and sound turtle and a few other rattly toys.

He has had them early as we thought he would benefit from them as his other toys were getting a little boring in their own!

Once we move we are hoping to make a sensory room for him so if you know of any good sites to get stuff from please let me know x

staceym11 · 24/09/2005 21:15

now dd hates baby toys (things that dont do anything)

she has to have buttons or holes to put finger through or singing or dancing, shes a pain.

i brought her a walker and some jigsaws but havent got much more idea, and although she hates things that dont do anything she will happily play with a tissue/box/pen(clicky one turned off) for hours! odd kid!

wish i could put her in a doughnut, she got one of them for last xmas and now she crawls out of it!!! (for ages i was saying 'i wish she'd crawl' now i wish she'd bloody stay still, everythings a battle!!!

biglips · 25/09/2005 12:23

riebee - did you have a gud time on Friday nite ?
me and DP had a gud laugh last nite as we needed it to relief the stress off our chest as we have been bickering abit (mainly about mum) so ive told her that we need to speak to her tmrw nite (as not 2day as both got hangover!!)

jbad - im glad that your baba is putting on the weight as mine is nearly 2 stones already!!!!! (shit!) but she is stocky and tall takes after her Dad... let us know about the house situation (fingers cross for you XXXX)... what is your Wedding date?

well mine is keep onstripping off every 5 mins!! and she spring clean her playpen every 5 mins too as its funny cos when i be hoovering she be shouting at me to get my attention so she pick up her soft toy and flung it across the room at me (ouch!)

biglips · 25/09/2005 12:23

biglips · 25/09/2005 12:26

stacey - mine like that too as she is now playing with the trainers box (as bought DP a pair of trainers for his bday yesterday) and baba will NOT let go!! as she is looking at me like this - .. her walker is on the way out! as it all nearly ripped as one of the buttons that is on the seat and attached onto the walker had come off) plus i dont think she be using it any longer as she keeps on slithering out of it

OP posts:
staceym11 · 25/09/2005 14:22

dd was walking across the living room yest with a walker i had from my cousins baby, so her one for her bday should be great!, 2 stone wow! dd is around 17lb i think, but she really quite tiny!

biglips · 26/09/2005 09:01

stacey - mine atm is using her walker to walk to the other side of the room (meaning she is not in the walker but pushing it!)

staceym11 · 26/09/2005 10:59

biglips · 26/09/2005 15:11

baba had found a another play thing for herself - a plastic cup - and she is pretendng to be drinking out of the cup (or unless she like the taste/smell of stale coffee flavour!!)

biglips...I had a fab nite Friday still recovering from the late night though, It was lovely to get the ole glad rags on

Stacey 17lbs..chimpy was 26.5lbs last week at his check-up Ha Ha! he doesn't like baby toys either but much prefers things like tins out the cupboard, hairdryers and anything sharp or breakable.

Well it looks like we need to buy a stair gate for the bottom as well as the top of the stairs as chimpy made his way all the way up and into the bedroom in search of me the other day when his daddy wasn't looking. My peaceful slumber was interupted by a little thing popping up at the side of the bed, I thought I was dreaming at first as he was meant to be downstairs. Also thinking of taping his socks on footballer style as he is driving me mad taking them off every 5 mins. I was in the queue at the supermarket and I looked down to see he was minus a sock so I had to leave my place and retrace steps to find his sock...wouldn't have bothered but it was a rather nice pair from oshkosh if it had been his matalan ones I would have left it in the frozen peas

mum2sam · 26/09/2005 17:44

I think im going to return ds expensive birthday pressies and get him a big cardboard box filled with loads of newspaper inside!

staceym11 · 26/09/2005 17:55

cor 26.5lbs your arms must ache! lol yeah cardboard box sounds good!

geogteach · 26/09/2005 19:15

DS2 still doesn't have any pressies, by 3rd time round i'm not sure my house has room for anymore 1 year old toys but that seems mean. My other 2 got ride ons but I keep them in the garage most of the time or they treat the house like brands hatch!
DS2 is nearly 20lbs, had to buy him 9 month clothes at the weekend as all the 1 year old ones of his brothers I found are enormous. Milk allergy seems to keep his weight down.

hotmama1 · 27/09/2005 13:25

Afternoon girls.

It was my due date yesterday but dd eventually came out on the 5th - so birthday next week. Doing a family birthday party on Sunday - will be buying from M&S and Sainsbury's (working mum alert).

Got dd a 'Rosie' doll from the ELC - one that has buttons/velcro etc - not a f**ing horrible bratz doll! Also getting her some musical instruments - uhm even more noise.

Had my detailed scan last week everything going O.K with dd2 - so now counting down to end of Jan/beginning of Feb! Will be getting my Phil & Ted E3 etc in the near future. This pregnancy is going soooo fast compared to the last one - hopefully the birth will be faster too.

Hope you are all well.

biglips · 27/09/2005 13:48

hotmama - i thought for one minute that you have given birth to your 2nd child (i misread it) as i was gobsmacked thinking "Already??"

OP posts:
biglips · 27/09/2005 13:50

i explained to my mate who had her baba on the due date (16/09) and i said "if i got pg straight away after already given birth to my DD, her baba is old enough to be my newborn plus having my DD!!!!!!"

staceym11 · 27/09/2005 16:44

oh but wouldnt two be lovely!! or am i mad, madly trying to get pg tho! lol

KathH · 27/09/2005 18:48

Finally bought some pressies for Saturday - bought some fisher price cars, a baby walker, some squeaky egg things and some clothes. Now I've got that sorted better think about packing for our holiday. Last time we went to Lanzarote in October it was over 100 degrees so I guess we won't need much, just a couple of jumpers for when we get back here! October is a very expensive month - have babymole on saturday, dh on tuesday, dd2 on 17th (the date babymole was actually due) and my mum.

Put an offer in on a house - 4 beds, utility room and conservatory - feel dead posh! We are too squashed in our house! Only slight snag is one of the bedrooms is downstairs and I don't trust any of the kids and I don't trust them all upstairs on their own! Garden is huge so hopefully if our lottery numbers ever come up we can get another bedroom!

Hope everyone's ok and just remember do not buy any toys that make noises, really cute and amusing the first 20 times, after that, dead annoying. Someone bought dd2 a pull along duck that quacked when she was 1. By the time she was 1 and 2 wks it had been hidden.

maisiemog · 27/09/2005 23:09

Hi all,
wow Hotmama, just think another baby. No sleep again, not that you get much when you're pg.
My first few months with Alfie were so stressful, thank goodness I had dp to help or I don't think I would have been able to bf.
How are you coping with your other baby being pg? I am now thinking I would feel bad if I was always tired and couldn't pick up Alfie. Mind you he is going through a clingy phase, he might be over that by the next time.
He's really climbing up my leg at the moment, maybe it's because I just started back at work. It's making me feel quite uneasy and emotional when he cries at the front door, and I feel like a moron. I am very muddled when I'm there, and one of my managers was standing over me on Monday telling me to remove commas and to change teeny little details. I felt about 10.
It's funny, at home I'm am the last word on everything and take total resposibility for everything that happens with Alfie. Then I go back to work and feel like I'm at school.
I was looking at the recommended toys for 1-2 years on the Mumsnet home page. Has anyone seen them? Any thoughts on them?
I want a wheelybug for Alfie, so he can turn around when he gets to the end of the room. And some nice little shoes like Starchild or something. And some building blocks, to stand on in the morning.
Has anyone tried those soft indoor skittles with their LO's I was thinking, at least it wouldn't be completely boring for me to play with, compared to some of his toys.
Oh incidentally, Jbad, I did a Google search on 'sensory play' and there were just thousands of excellent sites. How are you getting on with that?
How's the mum Biglips?
Geo I don't think Alfie weighs much more than 20lbs. The other day someone thought he was 8 months old. Haha. Very advanced for 8 months though.
I'm having trouble lifting him up now sometimes, I dread to think how it will be when he gets heavier. I think quite a few babies kind of level out at around 20-25lbs for about a year, so hopefully he won't get too much bigger, or I'll have to start bodybuilding classes.
At least he still fits all the cute baby clothes, I'm not impressed with clothing for 12months plus, what happened to all the cute fluffy clothes?!!
OMG I have really waffled on, just previewed the message. I think I had better post it now.

jbadgirl · 29/09/2005 20:55

Well the search for sensory toys is going well so far. Bought a mirror ball on ebay, it arrived today and dp put it up and it is fantastic. Also bought a squirmy wormy ball which is a great "feely" toy!

Our flat sale and house purchase seems to be going ok so far but still in the very early days so im not counting my chickens!!

biglips · 30/09/2005 17:23

im so knackered now as went to town and bought DD bday pressies as gota activity walker and a ufo floor thingy that DD can chased after so tmrw get a icing cake and stick a candle on it oohhh im so excited now

this day and time last year i was on the bed at my hossy on my bed in the delivery room (as i waited for 20 hours!! before i managed to get a delivery room as there was an emergency delivery before me and i had to wait around - i was in a ward before i went to the delivery room though) i was given summat to start off my contractions as i was induced and 17 hours later, i gave birth (phew)!!
