Here you go ladies...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
smokeybacon · 08/07/2010 09:49

tummum a very succinct and diplomatic account of the thread. I have no idea who RB was (although I did google but my investigative skills are clearly v poor) but it was shocking to see some of the hysteria from some well known posters.

ses try not to do to too much housework on your day off. Maybe MN can distract you! You deserve a bit of me time.

flip fingers crossed for your viewing on Saturday.

Scan this afternoon. Will of course update you all. We will not be finding out what the gender(s?) are though although I have a feeling that our consultant has put his foot in it with other expectant mums. When I phoned for the final CVS results (all ok BTW) they said to tell him straight away that we don't want to know. It does seem to be the norm to find out at the moment but I love the element of suprise at the birth!

febes · 08/07/2010 13:43

Smokey Good luck for your scan. How exciting to see the babies!! Good on you for not finding out the sex(es) it is nice having a surprise!!

My news is that I bought a mooncup yesterday and it is fantastic. I highly recommend it. I was spending way too much money on tampons but my mega 3 week++ period .

I'm going to a wedding in a month and am trying to find a dress to wear. Been to M&S, debenhams, dotty p etc on the high street but didn't find anything. I had a look on line and have ordered 3 dresses
1- pink crepe material- looks ok but very pink
2- Magenta flowy material a bit bright and funky for me
3- is a really flattering black well fitting dress with a stitched pattern on the front. Trouble is its just cotton and not sure black is ok for a wedding. I would definately wear it for a party but not sure if its too casual for a wedding. I thought I could dress it up with fasinator and necklace??? I'm really crap at dressing up.

smokeybacon · 08/07/2010 20:04

febes mooncup?? Have read about them. Aren't they a bit messy?

And go with the black. Maybe add some bright heels? I wore black to a December wedding and wore black opaque tights with some fab jade heels.

Scan went well. Still 2 in there and both look fine. Both head down - I know thats not much to get excited about at 20 weeks but still. I did make the mistake of getting on the scales afterwards. Yikes. Have put on 18lbs. Its a bit scary but apparantly well within the expected gain for a twin pg. But I was this weight at 32 weeks with R .

essenceofSES · 08/07/2010 20:14

Smokey - so glad all went well at the scan!Saw your announcement on FB and it made me

Febes - I've never braved a mooncup as I also thought it sounded a bit messy
I also agree about the dress for the wedding - black with lovely accessories will be great!

Flip - great that they were interested enough for a revised offer. LOL at the house you want taunting you! We had that with the house we're in now - nearly got it twice before third time lucky!

I had a good day in the end. Bumped into a friend of a friend in town and we went to Starbucks for a catch up
Washing done and I've decided the ironing wasn't really necessary! Just the packing to finish now!

llareggub · 08/07/2010 20:31

Mooncup? Gulp. They scare me. Can you let me know how you get on? Since having DS2 via a natural birth tampons tend to be, um, too slim. Perhaps a mooncup may stay in situ. Why didn't I name change for this post?

Smokey great news re scan. I bet your FB friends are shocked!

Rarebird I remember her first post and wondered briefly who she was as she implied that she is famous. I must admit I decided it was all trollery so I am shocked that it is all real. I got bored by the threads; troll hunting gets me down.

I instigated a demo at the gym today. I go to a lovely mother and baby swim class on a Thursday morning. It is on at the same time as the aquafit class, although we have a little baby pool so we're not in the pool together but obviously change together. The changing rooms and the car park are busy but we've all muddled along together. However, it seems that the aquafit ladies have complained that there are too many babies in the changing rooms so the gym have cancelled our class!

We were furious; one of the reasons used was there are too many buggies in the changing rooms. I've never seen a buggy in there. So we organised a demo of all of the Thursday mothers (my class, the one before and the one after) and we descended en masse on the duty manager. Bless him, he didn't have a hope in hell dealing with the mainly mothers of PFBs. Anyway, he has gone off with a very well argued list of reasons why they should leave our classes well alone! On a more serious note, we did all feel rather like we are second class citizens.

Right. I am out for a run now.

essenceofSES · 08/07/2010 20:41

Llare - and
Hope the duty manager takes note and reinstates your class.
Enjoy your run!

smokeybacon · 08/07/2010 20:47

Good work llare. Great that you didn't let it lie. Hope your class gets reinstated.

ses you are so right. Ironing is not necessary. Glad you had a good day. Its nice to be baby free once in a while.

llareggub · 08/07/2010 20:48

I must admit to using the economic argument to back us up. Each baby has to be a member of the gym and pay £4.40 for the class. I worked out that the swimming lessons and the gym membership for both boys, with snacks, is costing me in the region of £1k a year. I told the duty manager that his actions had forced me to consider whether financially it is worth it as I was pretty horrified at how much it all costs, all together. The aquafit women pay membership, obviously, but no additional fee for their class so we suggested nicely that perhaps we were a bit more entitled? At the back of mind I had an imaginary AIBU thread telling me firmly that I probably am!

Am definitely going to look for somewhere cheaper though!

smokeybacon · 08/07/2010 21:00

An intelligent argument and well put! YADNBU.

Tummum · 08/07/2010 21:00

Go Llare go go go! YADNBU!

Ironing pah!

Smokey fantabulous news. Exciting and terrifying all at the same time!

Ses hope you are enjoying the peace and quiet, sounds lush

Flip also lol-ing at the other house taunting you.

Febes I'd go with black and super-bright accessories too

Looby been thinking of you today, hope it all went as well as possible

Mooncups well I was very about the whole thing, but since reading a thread on here I decided to try, and they are great. Really great. TMI alert - I used to go through a tampon every 1.5 hrs, but can leave a MC in for a whole (working day). It's so nice not to have to worry about carrying anything into the loos or to restock at the supermarket. Go on, I dare you, try one! They're great!!

OP posts:
belgina · 08/07/2010 21:18

Hi everyone,

A little while since I@ve been here, again.

rarebird No idea who she is or what that thread is about so no opinion either way here.

flip Hopefully that interested buyer will keep upping and upping their bid until they get somewhere good. Otherwise hopefully a more wealthy buyer will come out of the woodworks soon

smokey OMG 20 week scan already. That has flown by! Glad to hear they're both head down. Were you going to try for a normal delivery? I can't remember

tumm Any more exciting California news?

llare Go girl!! I hope you get your lessons back. What gives those older women more rights to use the gym than you mums and babies, hey?? Especially when you're all members!

febes I'd go with the dress that you feel suits you best. I've done black with colourful accessories before at a wedding to. It does work.

mooncup I'm a biiiig fan of the mooncup. I've been using it for years now. Pads used to give me thrush and tampons just didn't work with my flow. I dusted it off a few weeks ago for the return of my AF and at the heaviest I had to change it every 4h during my night shift. I have never ever leaked, (without warning). Somehow I can feel when it's time to change it. And of course over the years I have saved a bucket load on pads and tampons

Thanks for the fb replies btw. My pram is now advertised EVERYWHERE. I desperately want get rid of sell it to make space in the loft.

Hope all of you I haven't nc'd or that haven't been on here in a while are OK

smokeybacon · 08/07/2010 21:25

belgina am hoping for a natural delivery so am pleased they are both head down, but I guess they could turn. My consultant is really positive about the prospect of a natural delivery even with my third degree tear following R. I was thinking that it would probably have to be a section but he said there would be no reason why I couldn't deliver naturally if the presenting twin was head down as most women who have third degree tears do deliver naturally again. I was really to hear that as I had expected that it would be twins = section and tear = section. I love love love my consultant!!!!!

Hope you manage to sell your buggy.

llareggub · 08/07/2010 21:27

Fingers crossed for house offers, btw!

febes I love love love black with brights. I think most things can be dressed up.

flipflopsattheready · 08/07/2010 21:38

llareggub - well done on your demo! Hope you win.

mooncup - I'm going to get one at some point...no periods yet though! Even though A's down to only two (sometimes 3) feeds a day now.

febes - black and bright accessories too!

ses - ironing is never necessary!

We had a viewing this evening! The agent called this morning after I'd posted here to arrange it all; had a mad afternoon tidying the house up but fortunately DD1 was at the CM and A slept for nearly 2 hours! Random but very fortunate. I don't think this viewer will go any further, she was an older woman downsizing but she didn't want a small house . But we have got another viewer at the weekend, so that's two now. Depending on what happens over the weekend, we might go back to the couple who made the low offers and see if we can push them a bit more; the agent had spoken to them this morning and they are still thinking.

The house we've got our eye on is daft really - when we first saw it I wasn't mad keen, and I still don't like the estate that much...but I want it now! It's the best we've seen, it's still available, it's comfortably within budget (as long as we get a reasonable price for ours), right catchment area etc etc.

Sorry to bore you all with my house stuff .

belgina · 08/07/2010 21:56

smokey Nowadays they are more than happy for vaginal twin deliveries, as long as the presenting twin is cephalic. So you can even have 1 twin breech! I've seen plenty of normal deliveries following a 3rd degree tear too. Only after 4th degree tears they tend to do c/s. Oh and you've already given birth 2x before. That's another thing that's in favour of you having a normal delivery. With 1st time mums they tend to be a bit more weary.

flip Sounds like there's lots of interest in your house. Fingers x-ed someone will bite soon

Talking about houses. I had an interesting conversation with the post mistress. I know her quite well by now as my ds plays with her ds quite a lot. Anyway, she's told me she know about a house that'll come up for sale soon and will keep us posted A lot of houses around here sell before going onto the market, so it's great to know that we've now made it properly in this village. Hopefully the house will be just what we want for a price that we can afford

febes · 09/07/2010 00:07

Thanks for the advice RE black dress and bright accessories. I tried them on again and I really like the black dress so will go with that one. Now do I go for a smaller size as I have a month to lose more weight??? Might wait a few weeks and see how it fits.

Mooncup Do it llare They are really good and fit well you don't feel it at all and its not that messy. Everyone one should get one!!!!

Smokey Fab news about the twins!!!

FiByTheIcySea · 10/07/2010 09:01

sorry i've not made it on here in ages.. been busy daytime lately then busy evenings with C2 5K & designing/writing/making a few projects.. this time they're knitted!!! i'll fill you in properly after a catch up read and NC..back in a bit.

FiByTheIcySea · 10/07/2010 10:19

ses your poor dad.. glad he's home now. How is he atm? My mum is equally tactless talking about my dads condition and her inability (she thinks) to cope in front of him. Drives me up the wall sometimes & she also phones me 1st to see if she should phone for an ambulance to which I reply have you not phoned for one yet?! She panics I think... the last time dad fell 2wks ago (which he is doing a lot more now with his MS unfortunately progressing) she couldn't even remember what phone number to dial for an ambulance and I had to remind her it was 999. I hope your mum is now a bit less stressed and not driving you as crazy.

momino you are a fab mum and don't beat yourself up about DD1's ability to scream. It'll be very useful in the long run as at least you'll know you'll be able to hear her if she desperately needs urgent help for some reason

febes congrats on your house sale and brave you to stop BF. I'm still BF and not sure how to switch successfully to regular milk. With DS it was quite straightforward as he was FF and we mixed the two cutting down F & replacing with milk until he was drinking all cows milk. G just makes faces and shudders with formula or cows milk. How's the weight loss going & did you enjoy the flower show? I've never tried the mooncup but have thought about it. let us know what you think of it as I have quite heavy periods and they're a PITA. I got a presciption for the same pill as you and never started using it. I'm quite glad I didn't now as periods that long would have driven me insane. I have had problems like that on other types of pill before the dc's and think my body decided it didn't like being on the pill anymore. It was exhausting.
All your dresses sound lovely for the wedding. I'd go with what you feel best in whether it's black or not. Black is easily livened up and always stylish.

tummum ooo exciting california! lovely part of it too. Any further news?

belgina how did your supervisory go? You've definitely been accepted in the village now! hope the house that's going on the martket is the kind you'd like good luck with re-homing the buggy too.

llare boo to your car getting broken into but yay to romantic anniversary Chatsworth day out (always fancied going). Fingers crossed the intensive work on DH's business pans out and you get to resign (will keep everything crossed). Boo to your swimming class getting the bump. What a cheek! good on you all for not letting them off easy and hope they will see sense and re-instate it.

flip we too are still getting viewings but no offers as yet. Bit frustrating but at least we're getting viewings and you getting one offer is better than none.. will keep my fingers crossed a better one comes!! good luck with the viewings this weekend.

smokey can't believe it's 20wks already! Wonderful to know both beans are well and that you have the option of a natural delivery after your tear. Sounds like a great consultant too .
I didn't see any of the RB threads.. quite relived as it sounds like it went quite bad for the OP.

Right DS is hungry again... off to make some pancakes and hopefully get back later to fill you in on what i've been up to...

hello to everyone else lurking i've not NC'ed. back later I hope! x

flipflopsattheready · 11/07/2010 22:07

Blimey, quiet! Is everyone watching football apart from me?!

More viewings, another offer from the same people but still too low.

Whinge alert - it's my birthday tomorrow and DH is away with work again! I have had several offers of company from friends though.

FiByTheIcySea · 12/07/2010 08:32

happy birthday flip sorry your dh is working today :-( have you decided what to do in his absence? fingers crossed you'll get a better offer from one of the other viewings. sounds like the people who have offered are trying for a bargain or looking out of their budget?

momino · 12/07/2010 17:48

Please, please could I have NC amnesty? (Fi, great NC btw)

all except for flip - Happy Birthday! hope you have a lovely evening and had a lovely day despite DH being away. also, good luck on the viewings.

smokeybacon · 12/07/2010 20:08

flip Happy Birthday! Hope you have had a good day despite DH being away.

(very very virtual in my case.)

essenceofSES · 12/07/2010 20:26

Hello!!

Flip - happy birthday!

Smokey - hello! Hope you're feeling ok.

Momino - no worries about a namecheck

In fact lets have a proper NC Amnesty - if you're lurking and don't know where to start with a catch up, just post and say hi!

runningmonkey · 12/07/2010 21:01

Hiya Ladies

Sorry for the absence. I have been trying to read but not even managed that very well. I've not been feeling great to be honest just feeling really down and exhausted but I don't really know why. Anyway, it culminated in a big talk with DH a couple of weeks ago. He is being amazing and giving me some nights off to do things for myself so I've joined the local gym. I've only been going a week but I feel transformed already - I have more energy and just feel better all round.

A is lovely at the moment, constant babbling and has just today 'got' the whole walking thing - she has been walking holding onto our hands for well over a month and has been managing a few steps on her own but today has spent the day wandering from room to room, seemingly just because she can We also just got her a bargan trike off ebay (an £80 kettler one for £10!) which she is loving - we walked to the shops this morning and she was regally waving at everyone all around the supermarket

I hope you are all well, I have been trying to keep up via fb as well, sorry for being so rubbish I will try harder I promise

cherrytom · 12/07/2010 21:10

flip seems like you are having plenty of interest in the house and Happy Birthday!

has anyone heard from Looby? hope she is ok

Ses sorry to hear about your dads trip to hospital

Hello everyone else!

We had a great week in Cornwall- I really, really want to move back to Cornwall. I haven't lived there since 2008 but I still think of it as 'home'. My dad has heard about some jobs that might be coming up in an older adults CMHT so am hopeful there will be something to apply for soon
Also my AF is back so I am now officially TTC! I have an inkling it's going to take a while (despite falling pg on the same day we decided to try for a baby last time!)

Am a bit of those whose DCs are just starting to walk. J RUNS and climbs all over everything- he is a whirlwind! No talking here he started to say hello (lolo) and baby (baba) but has stopped. He does say dadadad and mamama but not necessarily to the right person. He does have very readable facial expressions though and is very fond of pointing!
