party - Erin is a lovely name - unusual (so she won't be like me, being in a primary school class with 2 other girls with the same name) but not too unusual so she won't have to always have to spell her name on the phone to people.

some people really don't have better things to do with their time but to bitch at others. I do have better things to do with my time than be on MN but the ironing can wait today...

Partyofseven · 12/05/2010 13:53

thanks all about erins name, fake it just so happens that we had 3 names on the go and someone I knew had picked the other two before mine was born, so we had erin, then kids came home and said so and so at rainbows her baby is called erin as well and was born on boxing day, so they will be in the same class!!

when agree about the fannys that hang about on here, one posted said that her floor was coverd in food and a weeks worth of dishes were in the sink and she wonders why the hv was concerned, everyone else was feeling sorry for her so i put i may be a scruffy git but really a weeks worth of pots!!!!
No one actually posted what their children were called just birated nearly every name going. hmmmmm i may start a thread, so what did you called your girls then feel free to mock.

I'm staying here with you nice ladies, who placate my every worry, cos i am truely fantastic you know

CantThinkofFunnyName · 12/05/2010 14:41

Agree about the complete and utter fannies on here. FWIW Party, I love the name Erin. One of my very good friends named her child Erin (she's 2 now) and I think it is just gorgeous.

Indeed, I think all the names we mums chose are lovely. What a fabulous group we are .

So let's all stick together and talk about our lives, not just babies because we know we'll all support each other and not give out like a lot of idiots here who seem to get their kicks out of being utter bitches.

Right, need to wake sleeping baby to feed her, pick up kids from school and take them and friends horse riding.

whilst typing this though, watching new PM/Deputy PM news conf. Having a bit of a giggle at some of the questions

sockmonkey · 12/05/2010 17:14

LOL at you lot calling people fannies! not heard that insult since school.
Someone has taken my contented little lady and swapped her with a grouch. Not teething, just grizzly. She was up in the night for feeding which she hasn't done for a few days.
Growth spurt?
(had the mortification the other day of having teacher pull me aside for a little chat. apparently DS2 and his friend were comparing their dinkles at school. had to have a little chat saying even if your friend wants to see it, please keep your pants on. oh the shame )

crumpette · 12/05/2010 17:51

sock that's hilarious, but I'm sure it wasn't hilarious for you, thank you for making me laugh!! oh my is that a treat to come!??

Definitely having a growth spurt here, fed all morning, literally, went out and grizzled, and has spent the past 2 hours feeding non-stop at home [ouch]

Agree re 'fannies' teehee. I daren't venture too far away from you lot. I admit I quite enjoy being 'honest' about baby names if they are awful- ie cre8tiv spellings and just bad, but nastiness for the sake of it is bitchy and immature. I would only ever state my opinion if someone started a thread 'what do you think about Adolf for DS due in a week' or 'Chardonneae, Charmpayne, or Posie-daisy-poellie-mae?' for example. Erin is stunning and classic, I really love it!

Mama2b5 · 12/05/2010 18:45

lol " fanny" hahahahahahahahahaha sorry i missed that and had to re read to see why and who had upset you with name calling and sayig horrid things about the name Erin - lovely name, the thing is so we r all different and we all have different opinions but have some "tacted" in getting your point across is better then offending people, which sometimes just cant be avoided!!!!!!

Help - i need to get this boy taking from a bottle - booooohooooooohooooooo he is so stubborn!!!

Fraochsmum · 12/05/2010 20:27

Labradoodle that's right! Sorry I forgot! I know everyone has a different way of doing things, but I've watched a lot of wildlife progs in my time and don't think you can dismiss the wild animal origins. What do they advocate then? I actually have a friend who got on all fours and barked at a dog once...and he bolted! Good luck with whatever method you use, but don't let it get you down because he will get better and you won't imagine life without him

I also love 'fanny', in the best possible sense! We had a tv show here some years ago called Chewin The Fat and one of the catphrases was "Ya couple a fannies!!!" always makes me laugh x

blondieminx · 12/05/2010 23:25

good lord this thread is so fast moving!

Hi all

Crumpette are you me?! wine/carrot cake/icecream = my fave comfort foods also! Nurseries round here are a nightmare too, they have places but are only open 8-6 and both me and hubby commute to London. And only 2 childminders in the area who work extended hours and neither have places from September. It's hard isn't it

WMDO have you started on the levothyroxine yet love? Blood test booked for 6-8 weeks after you started on the drugs to check they've got you on the right amount? Once they've got you on the right leve you will start to feel so much more energetic and also more positive about things (anxiety is one of the many symptoms of u/a thyroid!).

Party Erin is a very nice name, it was on our shortlist but didn't quite go as well with our surname as Jessica does. Agree with others here that it is classic and lovely!

Jardins hello, good to "see" you. Wow, it seems like a lifetime ago since we found out we were expecting again eh!

Off to HV for weigh in tomorrow - she is 16 weeks old already, can't believe it. Am hoping Jess might have hit the 12lb mark at last. I swear every time she gets a few rolls of fat on her legs, she then gets longer and they disappear again. She is cutting her first tooth bless her. It's been very helpful to read what others have said about bottle amounts and also about weaning. Trying to get more milk down her at longer intervals is a non starter as she throws it back up again so maybe introducing some baby rice is the way to get her to go a bit longer between feeds? Those of you that have started weaning, are you finding your babies go longer between naps in the day?

flyingma · 12/05/2010 23:37

CTFN No guilt about the toys I just have a baby who takes after his daddy- if he's not doing something that amuses him, he will shout very loudly at me. As daddy works away during the week, the toys are my source of sanity (buy time to go to the loo, eat, clean bottles... you know non-impt stuff like that!!) Also we got given a whole bag of toys which I did not appreciate the monetary value of till now!

crumpette Re milk supply my friends swears by fenugreek tables (H&B sell them) tho the leaflet given to be by lactation consultant suggested that it was better to boost supply if you are expressing. I definitely notice a diff when I forget to take mine but I am mainly expressing.

wmdo another voice to the STOP GOOGLING camp. It's only ever very bad news if you google any illness.

Like Lottie I am also bringing our dreamfeed earlier as he's starting to be able to go longer. If I pick him up to feed after 6 hours when he's grizzling, not really crying he just keep coming off and smiling at me. So really we need to be waking up at 7am in order to be ready in time for going out/ classes. So that was meant to be 10 mins ago but bloody MN... lol...

CantThinkofFunnyName · 13/05/2010 06:45

Urgh. Growth spurts! Ignore everything I said earlier about Olivia sleeping longer at night once being on solids. This is now her second night of waking up early for her dream feed and then feeding every 3 hours through the night. Feel wretched. Do I have a newborn again? She is constantly hungry.

So DS just been sick - he's going to have to be off school today. He feels fine now - but they are not allowed in when having been sick.

Right coffee, shower and school run stuff. Ignoring whining puppy. He's been out for a wee. He will just have to wait.

Newbeginning1 · 13/05/2010 09:12

sockmonkey - I actually laughed out loud at your DS. That will be one of those classic stories you can him with when he brings his girlfriend home to meet you.

fraochsmum - I have images of you being out and about and checking out a guy looking him up and down but in actual fact it's not the guy you're checking out, it's his dog! Well, whatever floats your boat

party - i'm sure there are a lot of bitter women on here that don't have any life so take their bitterness out on others. Either that or as crumpette says they are chavs who think that Lambrini is the best name because thats what got them drunk and the child was conceived or they could be named after where they were conceived. Pub toilet has a lovely ring to it doesn't it?

mistletoekisses · 13/05/2010 09:43

Morning all! Just jumping on to say hi. Thread moves so fast, no time to reply to all. Sorry!

All those with grizzling bubs, don't feel alone. Nico needed 3 feeds last night. 3! DS1 was going 10 til 6 religiously by now. When he started waking more (around 22 weeks), I started solids and by 26 weeks was a 7 til 6 baby. This child has not read the book! Naughty baby.
Not going to wean yet, aside from needing more milk, is not displaying any other signs. I want to get to the 5 month mark if poss before entering the world of purees and babyrice.

Re. the nastiness on other boards. It rolls off me. Some people just get a kick being vile. Ignore them. Failing that, come on here and let us know that they are being eejits and we'll pile in and sort them out.

CTFN - re Olivia waking again. The only thing I remember reading recently in she who must not be named weaning book is to avoid banana and avocado as weaning foods. She claims that both foods are very filling. Prevents baby taking in the milk they need during the day (up until 6 months, milk is still the most important) and the baby then starts waking at night to get the milk they would have drank during the day. Not sure how true it is, but thought I would share

Right, off to skim AIBU and have some fun.

Have good days all!

Partyofseven · 13/05/2010 10:15

Hi all, thankyou again for your support re. erins name. I'm not naive enough to think that every choice i make is the best one, but If I don't like a name, I would just say awww thats sweet/nice etc , it was just the use of the words vile (relates to some murdering git) hideous (elephant man comes to mind) and there being absolutely no justification for the use of horrible words. ANYWAY I am done with the 'fannies' (oo er matron) on baby names, my choice and I'm happy with all my childrens names, so there (doth protesting just a tad too much lol)

Another beautiful day in manchester and me and Erin are out for lunch, nothing fancy just a leaving do at work. so I will try to clean something before i leave and I will check in later.

Hope you all have great days.

waves to percy and froach and froachs other dog that i think is called sonas

wmdo hope you still with us x

Partyofseven · 13/05/2010 10:18

ps. If anyone finds a small gorgeous very placid baby with a tag stating her name is Erin, tel: 078....., please could you return her to me and swap her for this grumpy one that has been left here.

whensmydayoff · 13/05/2010 10:37

yes blondie but still feel like a drunk in the mornings.

Im shit with DS. No patience or energy.

It's only 50mg to start with so I bet it will be a long time until they get it right. I feel a bit better about having it now that ive had time to take it in and realise it won't actually kill me! Your right though, I have felt weirly anxious and negative since the end of my PG until now. I get all stressed about really silly stuff.

On that note . My mum is getting an ECG today as her blood pressure is high and she is very very exhausted. That's how my Uncle was before he had the heart attack.

Smokes like a chimney, thinks exercise is a weird way to spend an hour! Used to tell me my running was bad for me!

Hope she actually gets motivation from this .

Right, away to fight withfeed Olivia who is having a bad reflux couple of days then going to friends house for lunch. Love when someone else feeds us!!

whensmydayoff · 13/05/2010 10:41

why does that -- work sometimes and not others grrr.

somewhathorrified · 13/05/2010 10:42

morning all, can't believe I haven't had 5 mins to get on here since saturday, the problem is I can't think of a single thing that I've managed to do during that time period.

New I'm the same as you, no rumpy here since the birth either. I'm so paranoid that it's going to be uncomfortable after the stitches or I'm not going to like it. I'll have to bite the bullet at some point luckily DH is not pestering about it yet.

Tobin's hilarious atm, he just babbles to himself contantly. He's doing well immitating as some words do sound right like "hiya", it's all very cute.

party I'm another one who like Erin as a name, I'm not quite sure what there is about the name that someone might dislike, it's pretty none offensive. Some peeps are just odd I guess and on here are just rude for the sake of being rude.

alibobins · 13/05/2010 11:01

Morning ladies I've finally found a minute to come on here. It's been a hectic few days Dd has decided she hates everyone and I mean hates she has been so hard work. Jacob has been really poorly but is slowly getting better.

Had an appointment through to see nurologist on 2nd June so hopefully we will get some answers soon.

Sorry haven't addressed individual posts I seem to have lost the ability to retain information

CantThinkofFunnyName · 13/05/2010 13:04

Hi Mistletoe. Yes, I did a couple of different days with banana puree, however, she is guzzling more milk than ever in the day too. She's on 6oz bottles every feed (major milestone for Olivia) and I only give her a 4oz bottle in the night - but she's drained every drop!

Anyhow, I am now going to avoid the banana and top her up to 7oz feeds during the day. Have plenty of butternut squash and carrot purees in the freezer and going to make up some sweet potato ones tomorrow. I'm now doing either a puree or baby rice for lunch and whichever I didn't do at lunch, for tea IYSWIM!

sockmonkey · 13/05/2010 14:27

Ali glad you have got an appt. hope all is better soon.

Have DS2 at home. he has red mark/rash on his cheek. thought it might be allergic reation to face paint, but has got worse not better. nhs direct say it might be slapped cheek virus. off to docs tonight to confirm.

had lovely meal at frankie and benny's for my b'day yesterday. all children behaved really well. yay. dd managed to sleep through, but ds2 ended up in bed with us at 3am. sigh.

Fraochsmum · 13/05/2010 15:23

Glad you've got an appointment ali hopefully you will get the right answers.

Thanks for the message to the pups party they really appreciate it! And new you have me so right btw - I even asked the owner if he was still 'intact'! He is a nice looking dog and would be my first choice for Sonas, not sure how they would react to me going round to borrow their dog for a shag though

I hope your mum gets on well today wmdo x

I'd better get on with stuff as I have to be at the fire station later for an employers night. Oh right on cue, Caras woken up - I swear she can just tell when I'm about to something/have something to eat etc...

whensmydayoff · 13/05/2010 22:12

Mums ECG was fine thanks. Still high blood pressure - nothing a fag won't sort out !!

I had a fab day. Lovely lunch at friends posh house over looking the beach. Kids had a ball. DS was an angel , DD was happy to watch the madness of 3, 3 year olds.

Im on to announce my annual leave from MN again .

Really, I need to stay away from the computer and give my attention to DS who needs it right now . He is getting really jealous and badly behaved and im withdrawn just due to being knackered. Not a good combo for a little boy needing more attention.

It's his birthday a week tomorrow and im need to sort out a wee party for him too.

I will catch up in a few weeks. xx

Partyofseven · 13/05/2010 22:33

Hi all

wmdo go give your ds lots of attention and cuddles, 'see' you in a few weeks, take care x

thankyou to whoever responded to my last post and brought my real baby back, had lovely sleep, went to work had bottle lay on floor of my office cooing and being gorgeous, fell asleep, got home fed bottle was again replaced by grumpy child and didn't stop until wrapped in blamket and fell asleep, then had to be woken for 8pm feed and is now back to sleep. I give up!!!!

ali glad jacob is recovering allbeit slowly, dd is probably just feeling it all as well and playing up, hope it all sorts itself out for you x

thanks somewhat

happy belated b'day sock, did you find out if it was slapped cheek,

blondieminx · 13/05/2010 23:09

Evening all WMDO good luck with organising the party and hope you start to feel more energetic soon, it does take a few weeks to properly get into your systems (or I felt like it did!). The official NHS guidance is http://www.cks.nhs.uk/hypothyroidism here. I would say do always ask for the actual results of your thyroid tests (normal range is a TSH reading of 0.4 - 4.5 but IME I feel like crap again if it goes much above 3.0!). Glad to hear your mum's ECG went well.

Sockmonkey belated happy birthday also! Glad you had a good meal at F&B's

Ali I can't remember anything either! Good luck for the appt - I'll say it before I forget....!

New you make me giggle, "pub toilet" tee hee!

FraochsMum so did you see any yummy firemen?! Hmm in our NCT group we are convinced the babies can tell the sound of cutlery/dishing up and wake up and grizzle just as you're about to eat [argh emoticon]

Somewhat yep same here, the weeks fly by and it's so hard to get stuff done but that poem is right I think. They're not babies for very long. Lots of talking here too - I'm sure my daughter is trying to pretend to be a Geordie, she said "wye-aye" while I changed her earlier...
