Just marking my place
Having my first sleepover today one of Ds1 friends has come to stay hopefully Jacob won't wake him up.

Pizza in the oven and sweets in the kitchen.

Newbeginning1 · 07/04/2010 18:51

jardins - sorry to hear about your DH's job, i just hope that the fight isn't a long one with the company.

maygirl & wmdo & quirkychick - how did you pick which osteopath you went to?

ali - build a bear bribery, i love it! If only it worked on adults.

How is everyone else doing? I think the Easter Bunny has hopped away with all my get up and go (cheeky bugger because I really cant be bothered to leave the house or do anything.

Jack is ok but he doesnt seem 100% himself but i'm not sure if thats just me reading too much into things We got a call today and there is a cancellation for him to have his EEG tomorrow so fingers crossed.

alibobins · 07/04/2010 19:36

New sending big >>> for you for tomorrow.
It really does knock it out of you when your baby is poorly

jardins · 07/04/2010 20:13

New we are all here for you. Can't wait to hear your news. Big positive vibes coming your way from France

I am a big fan of osteopathy. The midwife who discharged me from hospital after the birth likes to advise all mothers and newborns to go see an osteopath. I was pleased she recommended me one as we have only been in this city since last summer and I only like to pick an osteo who comes highly recommended. The one we had in our previous town was fabulous and gentle and the whole family would go at least once a year. (She worked wonders on me after my miscarriage a year ago: so much so that I fell pregnant a month later ) Anyway I went to this new one with Angélique a month ago and it was great. I think after an epidural it's good to go.

Thanks for your kind words re my DH legal case. I fear it could be a matter of years. We're not big on revenge but justice has to be done. Just think: my DH is the 11th employee to go since the company was set up 18 mths ago .

Thanks Crumpette for your offer of advice; I might just take you up on that.

jardins · 07/04/2010 20:16

Just to give you an eg of my DH's boss's reasons for firing him: my DH put his feet on a chair once in the shop (no customers around). Two days after receiving this complaint my DH saw the boss putting HIS feet up on a chair during a staff meeting.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 07/04/2010 20:48

Hellloooooooooo! I'm back. Love the thread title Crumpette - sounds like one of mine!!

New - big hugs and vibes sent for tomorrow. I'm sure Jack will be absolutely fine and they just want to double/triple check everything to put your mind at ease.

WMDO - so sorry to hear about your uncle. How horrid for you to have to tell your gran

Oooh - have I missed any other big news? So sorry if I have. Just been reading all the posts and memory like a sieve.

Have just returned from Wales past couple of hours and there is absolutely NO BLOODY WAY I am going near scales until next Monday. I have eaten sooooooo much. Full English breakfasts every day, lunches, dinners, WINE WINE WINE and a fair bit of chocolate too . I feel absolutely sure that I have put on half a stone in the past 6 days and my clothes are distinctly tighter .

Oooh ooh, can report that Olivia does some funny sitting up thing where she tries desperately to sit up and at the same time lifts her legs which promptly results in her falling/rolling over onto her tummy! Also, taking her "new" milk mixed in a ratio 1 old, 3 new so fingers crossed the transition continues to proceed well! Right, off to unpack, wash up bottles, sterilise etc. It's good to be home

maygirl · 07/04/2010 20:52

Mama2moo, DDs therapist has said 2 to 3 sessions CO on average. She has been pooing loads too since the session quirky and sazlocks!! She had been settling into nice 1-2 per week pattern, which I was pleased about- I didn't want that bit of her fixing!!! I just went to the centre where I'd had acupuncture in pregnancy for the CO as I'd seen several babies there having it when I'd been before new. Good luck for tomorrow.
DS has been diagnosed with glue ear, might see what advice the CO has about this too, though can't afford to have both of them going!

I wear a Shockabsorber bra or two for jogging, sockmonkey and go straight after a feed. Shouldn't mention buggyfit today then wmdo
I know I've got to stop feeling the guilt, I've decided to stop dwelling and look forwards and enjoy my lovely DD and DS, so lucky to have them

sockmonkey · 08/04/2010 08:13

Ha! Found you all. You thought you could hide from me on a new thread

DD is singing (in her own way) and kicking her legs behind me. So sweet.
We've been doing a massive clear out in order to clear the junk room & make it into a bedroom (eventually) for DD. The house is upside-down. DH blaming me for the mess, and saying I should be doing all the tidying... all while he sleeps in till 11am. Yeah right! I'm kinda looking forward to him going back to work on monday so I can get away with doing less

mama2moo · 08/04/2010 09:14

new I hope all goes well today.

I chose my dd's osteopath after googling it and finding one close to me! After booking it I found out that a friend of mine goes there with her baby and said its great. We have session 2 tomorrow.

Babymoo's flat head looks worse at the mo and her forehead is squashed - CO woman said that could be because she was engaged at 36 weeks and was 8lb 13!

The characters from Peppa Pig live are in town today so Im taking dd1! Its a lovely day here so we will stop at the part on the way. I got out yesterday for a walk with them both and was surprised at the good mood it put me in all day!

I am not doing the weigh in this week either. I just cant stop eating bloody cookies - You know, the nice soft ones from the Tesco bakery. Damn things have drugs in I think so that you keep eating!

crumpette · 08/04/2010 11:12

newbeginning Good luck today for Jack's EEG

mama2moo, I read that sugar/fattening food has the same effect on rats' brains as cocaine and heroin does on humans. There, it's not my fault I keep eating cookies!!! I am an addict!

fraochs, saw your post on the old thread- don't worry about it, happens to virtually everyone at some stage whatever they say. DD fell off the bed once, I was totally horrified but she was fine. I didn't realise she could move that far, left her there asleep and suddenly I heard her crying, rushed in to see her on the floor- but she smiled after I picked her up and landed on a fluffy rug. Horrible stomach lurching feeling though when it happened

jardins, not a problem at all let me know if you want to email about it

CTFN- thought you might like the title glad you had a nice time in Wales! Wine wine wine chocolate wine

whensmydayoff · 08/04/2010 13:46

I panicked when the thread was full! Thank you Crumpette for fixing it while our CTFN was on annual leave .

Good luck new tomorrow x

ali why does DD need injections? Hope she is ok?

Im knackered today, don't know why, not a particularly bad night or anything. Dragged myself to a softplay for DS to burn off steam but sitting there and smiling seemed like a shift down the mines.

Should have had Olivia up half an hour ago to give her medicine but noooooo, sitting here with cup of normal milk tea #3!

Doc said ease it in gently (dairy), start with a cup of tea on day one then a few more the next then maybe some cheese the next before starting on cereal with milk etc.......so far today Ive had 3 cups of tea and a HUGE piece of DH Easter Egg - YUM! Oops

sazlocks · 08/04/2010 15:17

flyingma · 08/04/2010 23:38

Argh concentration span of a newt. Good luck to all those whose LOs are in/ going in for tests etc.

Fraosch - I pipped you to the post on that one. I was BFing Aidan when he was about a week old on the sofa on the spare room and as I was testing out the rugby hold, I left him perched asleep on top of 3 stacked up pillows (I know!) to run to the loo. When I got back, I saw him hanging bat like upside down off the side of the sofa and yelped as he slipped from that hanging pose onto the floor but thankfully landing on his back/ bottom. The sickening thud and my yelp brought DH running out of our room and giving the most evil look.

Had a lovely few days with DS. Started last week when we finally went out for the first time with my aquanatal pals. DS loves being out of the house where he gets bored easily now. A few hours in Cafe Rouge and he grumbled a bit to say hey mum pick me up. Then he just looked round at the walls and people for ages before falling asleep on me. Not a peep about the feed he should have had.

Since then we've been out several times either with daddy, in which case he expects someone to hold him and keep him entertained. Or if we are solo, he's a good as gold and just loves being nosey and looking at new things. So cute. Oh and the other advantage of taking him out is that he comes home exhausted and can give me my 8-hour stretch of sleep!!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 09/04/2010 08:32

What is this 8 hour stretch of sleep of which you speak Flyingma? This should surely not be allowed .

Olivia been on growth spurt - or else just LOVING her new milk and actually digesting something properly. She has been feeding every 2-3 hours, including the nights since last Wednesday .

Still last night, managed to only feed at 22:30 and then 03:00, then awake at 07:45, so progress. She seems enormous to me now - sure she has put on a whole POUND in the last week !

CantThinkofFunnyName · 09/04/2010 08:55

Oh - and a new party trick. She can now wriggle her way down the little chair she sits in so that her feet dangle off the end. Note to self: now must must must strap her in for future .

Other news here is that we are now full systems go in puppy preparation. Wooden flooring for sitting room commences on Monday. Cue moving/emptying heavy furniture pieces over weekend so that said wooden flooring man can move furniture around easily. Sorting garden so that we can actually see poppy and thus clean up; ordering crates, toys, bedding, special cleaning stuff. Booked puppy training for day after we collect Percy, booked vet insurance, booked initial vet health check, booked man to come and fix two fence panels in garden ... oh and must find new place or sort out how we hide certain cables for TV, computers etc in sitting room so puppy does not electrocute himself . All this to be done by Sat 24 April. Busy busy busy.

somewhathorrified · 09/04/2010 11:05

Oooh new thread, very spacious.

How do you guys find the time to do anything like jogging, tidying etc...I'm still at the point of just about finding the time to feed myself. Think I must be doing something wrong.

Weighing scales are now officially hidden under the sofa and will only comeout for the monday weigh in.

Damn I'm sitting in the most uncomfortable position with Tobin balanced on my crossed legs on thefloor,.gonna go and attempt to stand with my numb feet.

Flounder1 · 09/04/2010 13:22

Hey Guys, I hope you don't mind if I join you?
I had first DS on 28th of december and not really having any friend's with babies,
I think the doctor's at my local surgery are getting tired of shrugging of my trivial worries!
I did dip in and out of old thread, but never caught the 'orange poo- white vest' conversation, did this come to a conclusion? I have one soaking right now!

crumpette · 09/04/2010 14:16

Welcome Flounder!! No I think the orange poo-white vest debate is still wide open.. someone scrubs with a nail brush, I use vanish powder (fab).. there was some discussion of washing temperature..I'm sure someone confessed to cutting one off their baby and binning it.. the conclusion was to buy orange clothes!!! Congratulations on your DS

CTFN am v excited about your new addition- is it really a labradoodle? That has got to be the coolest named dog ever!

newbeginning how are you?

WELL I clearly belong in fat club.

I ventured into costa coffee in local waterstones today
and the man said
'you've put on weight after having your baby haven't you'
so I was like' what?'
and he said 'you have put on weight after your baby haven't you'
'so I said, er, yes haha, yes I've put on quite a bit.. eating for two and all that'
and he said' it's only natural.. baby is very cute'

I ONLY ORDERED A LATTE! I was a bit shocked. Tbh I'm not fat per se, I am a size 12 probably, and I wasn't even visible to him, I was hidden by a baby carrier and a large counter! It's almost funny. Almost...

OP posts:
CantThinkofFunnyName · 09/04/2010 17:38

Crumpette - OMG at man in Costa ! Yes, it really is a labradoodle and will be called Percy. Cool, I agree .

So - today have pressure washed the patio, cleaned out guinea pig hutch, hoovered, swept, mopped and now ache soooo much. What possessed me? If I was still pg, I would say I was nesting!!

Right - now going to sneak a bath, if Olivia will allow and then off to a surprise party tonight. Me and 3 little ones in tow - whilst DH is out on his own piss up!

whensmydayoff · 09/04/2010 19:29

CTFN where the hell do you get your energy? I have come to conclusion I will never get a dog now after reading your last few posts!

I thought I was brave going to a family farm/park thing today with some other mums.

It's an hour away from here and suddenly Olivia's reflux is horrendous again. Couldn't feed her all day.
Poor thing is in a right state.
DH is trying (has been for an hour) to give her a bottle as he came home to me in floods of tears again over feeding and lost it.
Went to shops, bought normal formula and is now upsetting her even more.
She is exhausted and will never take it.
I can see me up all night with her now.

Oh I hear creaking floor boards has he given up.....

whensmydayoff · 09/04/2010 19:37

Not quite, wanted fresh formula without Gaviscon in it . He thinks it was the taste of the Gaviscon, moaned I should'nt have added it then stormed off.

You'd think Id done something wrong now the mood he is in but im not going to intervene until he gives up.

Im actually having to take her to my Uncles Funeral now. It's things like this that makes you kick yourself for getting too lazy to keep the bottle up, now I can't see her ever taking a bottle.

Crumpette what was that Costa Guy all about? You should have said you've lost brain cells after serving coffee all day haven't you?

DH given up, off to try and feed her.

whensmydayoff · 09/04/2010 21:02

So, it's now 9pm and have just managed to get her down.

It looks like im stuck breast feeding. What happens though? Can I just wait until she can hold one of those tommee tipee cups and give her some formula during the day it that? Or is that too easy?!

Im away to start a thread in the breast/bottle feeding bit. I need to know I can at least leave her with someone by time she is 7-9 months - surely.

mama2moo · 09/04/2010 21:56

wmdo I just saw your post in breast feeding. Have you tried every type of bottle on the market? I really feel for you but just remember it will get better

crumpette What a tw@t. I cant believe he said that to you. Luckily you are slim (size 12, cow!). I would have knocked him if he had said that to me (fat, size 18!)

flounder Welcome! Come and share you problems no matter how small or silly

Babymoo's 2nd cranial appointment went well today. I took a photo of her head from the top to see if it makes any difference. Wishing I hadnt now as it looks awful. CO said you can see one of her eyes is slightly smaller then the other - That made me feel even worse.

The weekend is here - I can have a lie in with babymoo tomorrow while dp gets up with dd1!

Is anyone else feeling broody already? I want to wait another 2 years before having another. But then I think I have 2 healthy, lovely daughters and had 2 great births. Should I leave it there?!
