Ladies I have to vent before you see me on the news. Headline: Mother goes Postal on DH

Reese was up on and off ALL NIGHT LONG with croup like symptoms. She showed first big signs around 11a. I'd been asleep for maybe an hour. DH was still up playing on the computer. I poked my head in the computer and asked that he get her a sippy cup with ice water while I gathered her from her room and walked her around. After that he went to bed. I'd asked him to move her bed into our room for the night but he hemmed/hawed about that and didn't. SO she slept between us with me up every time she moved or made a sound. He had a pillow barrier on his side. I'm sure he was woken up from time to time. I told him around 3 he should go sleep in the spare room because he had a business trip out of town this morning. GUESS WHO CALLED IN TO BE LATE TO WORK (and not go on the business trip)? NOW guess who was up at 6:30 like normal with both girls, who has already cleaned up and ready to leave for the docs, who has to makes sure the schedule works so dd1 makes it to her hair appointment at 1 and then has to get us all back to the house by 2 to sign the contract for the new roof/gutters. Can you guess? Seriously! I have been griping at him since 6:30 with statements like WTF! My biggest concern is he's mucking up stuff so if I REALLY NEEDED HIM he wouldn't be here. And as for that he isn't here most times I REALLY NEED HIM. AARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

No time to chat. DD1 needs showered before loading in the truck!

massive hugs ts.. vent away... sounds quite similiar to my dh.. i'm only grateful he is out of my hair til next tuesday so i can breathe..

hope he will dig in and help you out.. hope R is ok xx

TwilightSurfer · 07/04/2010 16:26

thanks lucky

doc said reese's lungs sound excellent. one ear is questionable. i'm cool with the "wait-n-see" since she doesn't appear to favor it iykwim. doc recommended lots of cool liquids to keep her runny nose junk from irritating her throat causing her to sound croaky.

dh is at work just not on his business trip out of town. we've had a disconnect the past few weeks. he seems very down and lazy (for lack of better word) and uninspired. he does very little to bring fresh air into his lungs. he rarely talks about work. he spends loads of time on the computer (at work it's work related and at home it's gaming). he eats without one regard to his health and doesn't consistently take his cholesterol medications. he provides a very nice paycheck to our home life but beyond that i feel like things are completely off balance. all this stresses me and doesn't help my shouty behavior when the kids try my patience. i have days were i feel angry or frustrated all day long. i want a partner. i want someone to listen and take an interest in me and what i do. i want to share and be shared with. he is by no means a terrible person. i think he just gets lazy where our relationship is concerned. blah blah blah blah blah

you can wake up now my pity party is over.

TS do you think our dhs were separated at birth.. exactly how i feel at the moment.. you have just put into words what i wanted to say...

luckoftheirish · 07/04/2010 17:08

glad r is not to bad and fingers crossed the cool liquids help xxx

TwilightSurfer · 07/04/2010 17:27

lucky their mom's may have been channeling each other. by chance is your dh without sisters AND has a mother that is not so very feminine? i totally think dh's very butch upbringing (he comes from a male dominant family structure) clashes drastically with my very female dominate upbringing. he was surrounded by men with all their lack of care attitudes. i on the other hand i grew up surrounded by many generations of wonderful women who were supportive and uplifting to their "clan".

TS And anytime you raise try to talk you're accused of nagging, huh? Or your list of complaints/concerns must surely be a list of your neuroses? So, sneaky and manipulative must you be to get made your point and a connection open up. Go read Mars & Venus again before you try. Could ask him, in your own way, the godawful-but-actually-quite-useful Oprah question 'What are your dreams for our family?' I.e what is he hoping his life will be like in 10yrs time and how can you help him achieve that? Tell him you've been worried about him lately but don't let that kickstart into your list, hold tight. Now, if he doesn't then ask you the Oprah question back you bop him a meat mallett v camly point this out and wait for him to ask it. THEN the floor is yours.

luckoftheirish · 07/04/2010 17:54

TS.. very male dominated upbringing.. were the men work/drink beer chill out/get waited on hand and foot - women work in the home/cook/clean/mind the children..

he says he does more than his dad/stepdad every did..

Ladies - I love my mother very much and but how do I get her to go home??? She has been fantastic looking after DD and me BUT the checking what I eat, asking where I am going everytime I move, refusing to let me do things with DD incase I set off the contractions again is driving me NUTS! We are supposed to be going to their house tomorrow but I am on the verge of hiding so they can't find me to take with. I want to take DD out for the day but apparently it will be too much for me. I am hoping that if I take her home tomorrow I can escape early on Friday with an 'appointment' I had forgotten about. I know it is a useless complaint as I am being looked after but I need a little space for me. I am missing DD and our long morning baths, naps together, snuggles and just being us and making spur of the moment plans.

Whinge over!!

DD in bed, mum watching some wierd telly programme, I might have to go and have a looooong bath and retire to bed to read.

LOTI - {{{HUGS}}}

TS - {{{HUGS}}} for you too.

oopsandbabycoconut · 07/04/2010 21:22

See I killed the thread!

pertelote · 07/04/2010 21:40

Ooo, I'll bite.

Oops that is very understandable. Hope you can negotiate a little space tomorrow.

VG HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I love that your birthday is on my anniversary and Hots' is on Miamla's . Hope you've had a fabulous day.

TS and Loti, lots of sympathy for you both. Horrible to feel unsupported by the one person who should be there for you.

TwilightSurfer · 07/04/2010 23:09

Ya'll are a supportive lot.

Can't say there's a perfect answer or direction or even if I believe a correction is possible. Just life. Could be ever so worse.

Can't wait for this funky crapola mood to pass.

Oops if it were my mom she would be cool with me saying, "Go home. I need a break from you." Funny, I recall my Aunt saying that to me quite often as a child.

VG did you have an excellent birthday.

Reese is eating tea that's an hour old. I left it all on the table when we went out to enjoy a little more sunshine. That apparently made her hungry again. She's cleaning her bowl and her sister's. Twas chili & rice night.

Is there a SMART MOMMA AWARD? Reason: Just figured out I will get a $1500US tax credit on the taxes I file in January because of my NEW ROOF. NEW ROOF (and gutters) ended up costing only $12,482US. That's $2000US less than originally thought. Seems sales tax doesn't apply, that would have been an additional 9.25%, and they gave me that 10% off deal. PLUS I'm spreading the cost over 12 months with 0% interest (really it will only be 10 months because I'll pay the balance in full in February). Craftsmanship is covered for the next 20 years with materials covered for 30. I'd say all in all I DID GOOD!

Where's the bon bons?

GladioliBuckets · 08/04/2010 09:34

Oh good work TS, are you going to buy us all a present with your savings?

Oops I can see what you mean, you only have a few weeks left of it being just the two of you, it's going to be a long time before you'll get to be alone togeter for long. Was something I had to mourn when I first got pg with my 2nd actually, had been looking forward to 4/5yrs of adventure with just DD. Do you think she might understand that argument?

Well, I am from ear to ear as DH & I had the most mindblowing sex last night, both of us at the tantricness of it all. Purr purr.

GladioliBuckets · 08/04/2010 09:37

And Oops remind her she won't have to wait long to come and fuss and play with DD.

WantsToTasteThePea · 08/04/2010 10:14

oops I well remember being very antisocial in my third trimester (yes, even more than usual) so can totally understand that 'get OFF me!' feeling. Can't really suggest anything tactful though as tact has never been my strong point

WantsToTasteThePea · 08/04/2010 10:15

Oh, I'm still wearing my Masterchef cloak (it's cyteen).

oopsandbabycoconut · 08/04/2010 10:27

I was wondering who wanted to lick Miamla's little Pea I am being very gracious although it is taking all my patience. I will take her home today and then come back early tomorrow morning. I have the need to sort things out in the house but don't want anyone else to do it, although I know they would do it if I needed them to.

cyteen · 08/04/2010 10:36

You can't fight the nesting instinct (apparently , mine didn't extend much further than wiping food stains off the laptop).

So are you excited about meeting your new LO yet? Not long to go although I totally get what you're saying about wanting to cherish this time with your PFB.

lwfhthebagpipeplayer · 08/04/2010 12:48

I have a nice nesting story. I said to DH "I think I'm in labour" he said "well I'll go and put petrol in the car then" we were taking a taxi to hospital but apparently the car still needed petrol.

TwilightSurfer · 08/04/2010 13:51

ROFL Longway BucketsSome chandelier swinging would definitely help MY mood. >
