Hope you all can find it, Moms title was perfect I thought.

Please Lady start a really cheeky thread title. Not obv pro FF or C-section as you will get such nasties that will say things that will upset you but instead something that would be less personal.

LadyThompson · 16/03/2010 21:51

Hmmm, Veggie, maybe another time

waitinggirl · 16/03/2010 22:00

thanks, gals, for pointing me towards the thread full of MENTALISTS. glad they have so few problems in their lives that they have time to go MEDDLING INTO OTHER PEOPLE'S BUSINESS.

so pleased that this is virtually the only thread i visit on mn. you are all lovely. group hug!!!

time for me to go and rest my weary back. ow.

Turniphead1 · 16/03/2010 22:04

Laughing that we have scared them off on the other thread.

Go on, LadyT tell the name of the person who always wants her name in weightloss thread titles. I am rubbish at knowing who is who among the big name MNers.
And I am glad I made you snort your drink with my Poonami/Poonani confusion. The Poonani connection comes of a few years of watching Ali G I think....

Just watched Brothers and Sisters. Think DH and I are the only people who watch it. It's super.

Had DD's parent teacher meeting - teacher really is an inarticulate muppet. Sorry, but her first words were "Er..I can't find anything to fault N for". I mean, please. I am not an educational expert by any means but I would have thought that the aim is not to find fault with any children. I also think she has created a demonisation of the boys in the class, largely because she is inexperienced and cannot deal with the more spririted boys. I imagine it is very easy to teach little goody-two-shoes girl like my DD. This doesn't affect me personally, but I know the boys she is always telling off and they are lovely - and only 5 or 6 bless them. Anyway, rant over. DD is doing well and is happy and that is the main thing.

Yes - Kayz hope you are OK. Come back to us.

Turniphead1 · 16/03/2010 22:06

Get your back better WG! I like the diazepam and codeine cocktail suggested by your pusher friend on FB. Sounds absolutely floaty delightful

LadyThompson · 16/03/2010 22:17

Did you know, fact fans, that Ali G's real name is 'Alistair Graham'? I know this as my DH was in the room chipping in when they were dreaming up a name for him But the funny thing is, this is spookily close to DP's actual name.

The poster is called Shiney or some variation thereon. She can't spell (Shiney?) and, more crucially, was once needlessly aggressive to me on a thread I have a long memory for those on the wider MN who have irked me.

That thread that was mentioned that's called something like 'nothing tastes as good as being thin' makes the pies drop from my very lips in horror. It's awful but I might write it on a sticker and put it on the cheese.

Turnip, we have the same taste in US drama so I'd probably like Brothers and Sisters. I did start watching when it was first on but got out of the loop. I watch The Good Wife though.

Yes, Kayz, hope you are ok m' dear.

Are you feeling better, Effie? ANd yes, I hope you are stuffed with drugs, WG. I have a tickly throat all of a sudden. Hmm.

katie3677 · 17/03/2010 08:27

Another appalling night here. DD wouldn't go to sleep, finally got her down at 10.30, then up every hour, coughing, temperature etc so off to the Dr's this morning. She is happy as Larry now, whereas DH and I are hanging. Just not used to these broken nights anymore.
I am worried about Kayz as well, she is posting prolifically on FB, but hasn't been on here, very unlike her. Hope you're OK Kayz if you're lurking.
Off to do the school run, then docs, see you all later.

daisydora · 17/03/2010 08:42

Katie Sounds like a shocker of a night. Hope its something the Dr can sort out (but nothing serious!)

WG, hope the back is easier today, ouch!

I am still amused that we managed to scare off the people on the other thread

Kayz, if you are lurking please tell us you are okay?

Trace, is today your day off? Hope things are okay with L. Been thinking of you.

DS has taken to waking at 5.10am everyday Seriously the past 4 mornings he's bang on time. I think he may be waking hungry as he usually screams till I get him some milk. So tonight I think I will try supper.

JamInMyWellies · 17/03/2010 08:46

marking my spot back later.

Daisy: 5.30 here. Every bloomin day. Am thnking lighter mornings might be something to do with it.

Am most amused at poonami gate. I will say the original poster is one I like so I'm taking the view that she was having a bad day! The post and ante natal thread thing is a battle that seems to come round every so often. I think it's down to people using MN differently, some prefer to stay on a single thread or two with people they know, others prefer to post in lots of places and get lots if different opinions. The first group think the second are MN royalty and cliquey, the second think the first are plebs and... cliquey. I think judging anyone by the type of threads they post on on an Internet forum is insane! I do admit to raising a (bushy) eyebrow at the thin thread though.

DS2 woke up with a nasty cough and a wheeze. He had a puff on his inhaler and is sounding a lot better. My cold is better as well, thank you all for indulging me in my self-pity!

EffiePerine · 17/03/2010 09:04

Though speaking of irrational likes and dislikes, the main reason I think she is a good egg is that she likes Sherlock Holmes. I like the idea of LadyT having a list of 'Posters Who Have Dissed Me Or My Parenting Choices'

Veggiemummy · 17/03/2010 09:16

Morning ladies. Just trying to settle DS2 to sleep for his morning nap. He slept quite well last night but has been a bit Jekyll & Hyde this morning and when I got a peek in his mouth the 2 teeth that are slowly coming through are causing some nasty painful looking redness in the gums around them. Poor little man.

How are you feeling today Ef? How's the eye?

Lady you got me really giggling with that pie comment, but that post sounds insane. Maybe there are just loads of pisstake threads out there to try to stir up trouble and to watch the fun. I can understand that.

I can't remember if I mentioned this the other day Lady but Alastair is a variation of Alexander. I was looking up the boys names in a friends baby names book and read that.

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 17/03/2010 09:41

I never knew that, Veggie. The eye is currently black and yellow, v fetching. I hope you are right about the arnica.

Rubena · 17/03/2010 09:58

I'm not sure if I'm just brilliant at naturally healing or it was the Arnica I took on Veggie's recommendation, but I won't take any chances and will take it again for the next C-section

Veggie - was stalking you on FB - well not really since it was on the news feed! 11 years away from home for me now we are still possibly going back for 12 months in 2012, but will depend on what DH can find. Unfortuanately it could be only 12 months, unless of course he gets offered something fabulous that we can't refuse during that 12 months On the bright side, ds will be only 4 so won't be worrying about schools at that point I suppose....

Those with the early wakers - good news is the clock go forward soon

SummerLightning · 17/03/2010 10:01

Blimey that woman really is offended by the tsunami reference in poonami. How odd. What's next - we can't say "car-crash TV" because people have died in car crashes? Can't say "buried under an avalanche of work?". Oh and it is pornographic apparently. Just because it rhymes with punani (which is hardly pornographic, come on), doesn't mean we intended it that way. I suggest more a problem with her than us there!!!
What a sensitive soul. A sensitive soul without enough stuff to fill her time at that too.
I am not going to say this on that thread as I really can't be bothered with internet arguments.

SummerLightning · 17/03/2010 10:03

Effie, I laughed at your bushy eyebrow being raised!! I did notice that thread title too (the thin one).

EffiePerine · 17/03/2010 10:13

Just realised that I must be close to the anniversary of DS2's conception. If I can remember when it was! Which must mean it's not until the 2 yr anniversary of meeting you lot. Can't remember how
far along I was when I started posting.

EffiePerine · 17/03/2010 10:23

Also, a q for those with curly hair (or their DCs) how do you wash it? Ds1's hair is straight like mine and fine with s shampoo every 2-3 days. DS1's gets very dry zmd frizzy. Do I wash it less? Use conditioner? Or what?

Veggiemummy · 17/03/2010 10:26

Oh sorry Ef you did mention you were feeling better there. I think I need another coffee.

OP posts:
Rubena · 17/03/2010 10:27

Mines a nightmare Effie. I don't wash it too often and I always use conditioner - but not a heavy one or it goes very knotty. Not sure about kiddies with curly hair though? Sorry not much help am I

timelordvictorious · 17/03/2010 10:28

I am sorry to crash, but this made me after the thread about thread titles yesterday.

As you were.

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 17/03/2010 10:35

Hi all,

I am officially No Comment about the thread title, but will try and keep up a bit better on this new thread. You're all so chatty, though!

E has been down with a gastro bug this week, so the poonami title was way too appropriate. Then of course my husband gets it too and muggins here ends up doing 1,446,584,983,849 loads of laundry. And now she's got conjunctivitis and can't go to daycare and we're squabbling over who has to take time off tomorrow. I think I have won - if he wants to go away for a fortnight in April I need to save my leave!

Effie, E has fine curly hair, I just don't wash it unless it's got egg or something in it - otherwise I just rinse. Wash too often and she gets a halo of frizz. If I do wash it I use a bit of my low-frizz shampoo, but I don't bother with conditioner.

Rubena · 17/03/2010 10:38

Hello Timelord

And wow tortise - nice to see you again

LadyThompson · 17/03/2010 10:39

Tortoise?? Have you changed your name?
