gauchita look after yourself. It might be too early to get a positive pregnancy test. I understand you can get them when you miscarry too, but depends on the timing. Thinking of you, hope the pain is managable and you can just chill out tonight and tomorrow.
bigcar cheers for the cup ideas, they look great. I was hoping you might suggest what I should do with the mullet!! There is still no hair growing on the front! Grin

whenskiesaregrey · 07/10/2010 23:39

Hi everyone

Sorry I haven't been around for a while :( Blush

Gauchita Sorry, I'm no help, I don't really know what that might be. It is very strange to get your period so early, especially with you being so regular usually? Maybe see what happens over the next month? Sorry I can't help anymore :( M's curls are great, you should never cut them, ever! Wink C's hair is as straight as a dye!

With you saying to Bigcar about her colloquial sayings, it facinates me how people keep up with these when they live in a country where the majority of people don't speak your first language (I hope that doesn't sound patronising?!) Some must sound so strange in isolation!! Are other countries so varied in accent in dialect over such a relatively small area? DH tells me that in Australia, then have two accents, city and country? Is that right snow? It amazes me how DH professes to know this when the nearest he has ever been to Australia is watching Neighbours, and he knows no Australians! Hmm Grin

snow C has a tommee tippee beaker in the morning, and a bottle at night still. I tried giving him a beaker at night, but the milk came out a lot faster than he was expecting, and it put him off. I only realised the other week that he is still drinking out of the slow flow teats that came with the bottles! We initially kept him on them for when he was having the odd bottle away from the breast so as to keep some continuity with the flow (??!), and haven't changed! I got him those beakers that bigcar mentioned, but he is just facinated by the fact he can put his finger down the teat Hmm so not much milk gets drunk! We are going to have a go at changing his night time routine soon, because he still has milk last thing at night, after he has had his teeth brushed. So I am a bit concerned about his teeth. We are going to try and take milk out of the equation altogether (giving him a beaker before he goes up) and see how that goes.

Re hair cuts... the hairdressers near ours have a special baby/ toddler seat which has a steering wheel. It is great for distracting them long enough to get their hair cut. When I take C it usually only costs about £3 too as it takes her no time at all Smile

bigcar I love those converstaions too Grin C gets lots of 'reeally' and 'is that right' because we dont know how else to reply to his ramblings! How is DD1 doing at uni? Oh to go back to those days!

June I have to agree with Bigcar, that is most definetly not limited to men! I am distracted so easily it can get annoying. I can be really interested in what someone is saying, and a piece of music may come on in the background, or someone might say something on the tele, and I will realise I have not been listening to what the person is saying anymore! The same happens when I read; I get halfway down a page and realise I have not actually read a word. So I go back to the top and read again and really try and concentrate, and then I am halfway down the page again, and I realise I haven't been reading as I have been thinking about how I really need to concentrate this time... Hmm We have had the 'year end' panic in work at the moment too Confused. Our finance dept get very high pitched at this time of year! It will all be sorted soon though, dont worry Grin Has C fully recovered from her knock now?

Hi Ineed AllSheep and Vene, nice to hear from you Grin Ineed glad to hear DS is starting to like school more, tell him I said 'hi' Wink

Thank you all for your congratulations on C's walking! He has had a few more steps since then, but they are still very few and far between :( DH still hasn't seen him walk :( I have started taking him to Gymbabes, but it is at the same time as when I take him swimming, so I don't know whether to keep going. He really likes swimming, and I want him to be confident in the water, but Gymbabes aparently gives them the extra push in terms of agility! What do you think? He just seems content with crawling. He can get from sitting to standing without holding on to anything, but then to move he will just drop to his knees. He is walking better holding my hand, and seems to enjoy it, but when I try and sneak my hand away, he just drops straight to his knees. He will do it when he is ready I suppose :(

Off to bed now, work in the morning Hmm

Gauchita · 08/10/2010 14:23

Hi all!

Skies, it took M a good few weeks, more like a month until she was confident enough to walk more than a few steps, so don't worry, C's well on his way Smile You're right re.accents, in Spanish, for example, there's one different one in each country, and then within each country you can see differences as well. There's a province back home with a very distinct accent, it's quite funny and the object of quite a few jokes as well Grin There're a few English sayings or phrases I still have to google the first time I hear/see them, of course Grin MN is a big dictionary for me, although DH thinks I'm just deluding myself to spend time here Grin Hmm

Snow, I got M one of those TomeeTipee ones but the straw tip up version, as she loves drinking from a straw these days Smile

Bigcar, LOL at E telling DS1 off the other day, pointy finger and all! Genius! Grin Fingers super crossed here for the school application to go well! Smile

I had an early night last night, went to bed at 9.30 as cramps were bad. I woke up feeling better but still a bit "ugh". The weather doesn't help, it's cold and drizzly outside and I have lots of things to do and not a pinch of will Grin Thanks again for all the replies and advice.

Hope everyone is having a nice Friday!

June2009 · 08/10/2010 18:08

Hey gauchita it sounds stressfull :( I hope you figure out whether it is your period or not, is it still going? Look out for clots.

I'm on the pill and I was regular for a few months but then last month I was 7 days early and this month 10 days early. Hmm.
If my period doesn't come when they're supposed to I always worry that it could be internal bleeding from my c-section. .

skies The region with the peasant country accent in France is where I come from! Grin. I don't have the accent anymore (people think I'm english Shock (some people have commented that my "french is very good") ShockShock (That's cause I AM french you dumbass!!!!) anyway, I couldn't hear it before but I can hear it now, all my mates and my family have that accent :D.
There are loads of different accents actually, just like here.

A friend of mine's little girl (same age) is not walking yet either, she's a GP and she's not worried. I think as long as they don't look like they have a problem with their legs/hips then you know they will just walk when they're ready?

I bought this beaker today. It's £1.97 in Asda.

I have been trying to phase out bottles, not very sucessfully so far, hoping this bottle will do the trick. Not tried it with milk yet. I'll try tomorrow morning.

C no longer drinks milk before bed, are they supposed to still? She can say "milk" and asks for it when she wants it (usually first thing in the morning) and she has stopped asking for it in the evening.
I think I read somewhere they should be having somehting like 400ml a day, does that sound right? I can't remember where I got that from.

bigcar C is the same as E, lately she has been really good at letting us know when she is tired (put her head on our leg or on the sofa) or drags us upstairs holding our hand and we just put her in her cot and she turns around and goes to sleep. (Not everytime...but it's a start!).

Thinking about it I also get distracted and do exactly that when dh starts going on about cars computers random things a little bit too much and I'm mnetting doing something important.

I've had a cold since Friday, I can smell things today so fingers crossed I'll be better by the end of the weekend!
Work has been stressfull and I can't wait to go back to training, it's a really good stress buster.(Especially boxing!)

ok, time to go for now, speak to you soon!

evening all Smile

has everyone seen this for those that mn on mobiles.

gauchita, guess it won't be that then! Hope you're ok today. We've had the most beautiful sunny day here, lovely and warm too although I was talking to a mum that's just come back from living in Spain and she was moaning Grin

skies, just go with whatever class you both enjoy most, he'll be off when he's ready Smile Dd1 is doing fine, home for the weekend so the other dcs are happy, much easier than skyping! E still has the teats that came with the bottles, he's not fussed so I haven't bothered changing them Smile

june, good to hear you're feeling better. Lol at people telling you your French is good Grin No idea on the milk really, E has a bottle morning and evening, doesn't always drink it all but it's offered, he has juice during the day now.

snow, nooooooooo we were hoping you'd have some mullet ideas Grin It's got to grow on top at some point hasn't it! Are you off on your hols soon?

waves to all Smile

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 09/10/2010 06:53

Hello all.

Isn't it lovely to have some nice sunny weather again? We went out to a place called Alice Holt yesterday and walked around in the sunshine. It was so warm!

Gauchita - Have you been to your GP about the bleeding? No suggestions as to what it might be, other than I sometimes get breakthrough bleeding sometimes, too. I'm on the pill and this has regulated it for me. Although, no go if you are TTC! Grin

Anyway, still on 5am starts so freakin knackered!

Hello everyone else Smile

whenskiesaregrey · 09/10/2010 09:42

Hi everyone! Updating from my phone Grin (thanks Bigcar!) I dont know if I'm that keen on it, I'm not sure what the general feedback is like. The font is HUGE and the pages are still really big file sizes, so I hope it a working progress?

Only downside is I can't read back through the thread very easily on here either, it isn't all that easy to use!

i think accents and dialects are facinating! Isn't it funny how there is always one area that gets mocked Wink. Around here there are some small children with really strong scouse accents, and I think they are adorable. DH has a bit of a 'woolyback' accent being from Wigan (Wigin...) and I make fun of him with his 'wur' 'cur' and 'hur's. c has started saying ta-ra when people leave and 'here y'are' when giving something to people, so he is picking up on thing too...cute!

We are decorating C's bedroom today, can't wait for it to be finished! Speak soon xx

morning all Smile

ineed, getting out in the lovely weather we've been having sounds good Smile 5am starts not so good! Hope you're managing to catch up on some sleep.

whenskies, how'd the decorating go?

strawberry, good to hear everything's under way with the bankruptcy Smile Poor L, hope she's feeling better soon. Sorry, but Grin I would have died on the spot, may be they'll put a sign on the door in the future! Dcs are doing fine without dd1, she was out and about a lot anyway so they're fairly used to her not being here. She had crap signal on her mobile so we went out and got webcams and are skyping every day now, so they still get to trade insults Grin Dd3s doing ok thanks Smile we've her interim review of her statement on thursday and will be asking for a change of placement [nail biting emoticon]

E is still fascinated by cats, gets all excited when there's one in the garden, he still thinks a squirrel is a cat, need to work on that one Grin

dd2 has decided to join the scout band with ds1, she went for the first time last night. I thought she'd come back with cymbals as ds1 did, that would have been bad enough but at least doesn't require large amounts of practicing. But no, BOTH of them came home with TRUMPETS, I mean BOTH and with TRUMPETS arghhhhhh. None of us have a musical bone in our bodies, I can't see this being good, their first task is to learn how to get a note [sob]

bigcar good luck with the trumpets, what a nightmare Grin. I bet they are loving it though, I played the recorder at church from time to time up until I was around 11 was little and really enjoyed it.

Really haven't got time to say much right now (work), my cold is almost gone.
C is trying to kiss every child she meets at the moment, so sweet (they don't always want to be kissed though...)

So far we're failing miserably at weaning her off the bottle, even with our funky bottles from Asda. (She drinks water out of them, but waves her fingers and says "no" if there is milk in it!she takes after her dad)

take care Juners!

OP posts:
bigcar · 13/10/2010 09:56

june, good to hear you're on the mend. C sounds so sweet, E usually just offers his forehead up for a kiss Hmm

have you seen the june 2011 thread? Makes it seem so long ago that we started out together, doesn't feel like 2 years Smile

waves to all Smile

June2009 · 13/10/2010 12:49

hey bigcar she was literally chasing this little girl round the house yesterday. Not everybody likes their personal space invaded like that ;)
She also kisses the fish tank before we leave to nursery Hmm.

Incidentally this little girl's mum thought I was celebrating my 40th next year (I'm 33yo!!! I didn't get offended, I really don't think I look any older than I am :). She must be mortified, I made that mistake with someone last year (told a 38yo "I can't beleive you're going to be 40" she didn't look impressed.) I still CRINGE thinking about it!

That reminds me that we used to go to a nice little restaurant a couple of years ago and it so happened that a few people from my gym were regulars too, we'd often all end up chatting & drinking at the tables outsid There were always always always divorced 50+ yo mutton dressed as lamb women asking the single guys there "go on, guess how old I am". Cringeworthy.
Shame they changed owners really, no one goes there anymore.

In other big news I found C halfway up the stairs yesterday (twice!!), she hadn't shown any interest in climbing up until then and I haven't figured out how she is getting up there exactly, she stops when we catch her!

A few of my RL "mums" friends are pregnant with their second. I'm Envy and torn. We really would like another child and ideally didn't want to wait too long but we can't afford it. Sad We'd either have to get someone in to replace me in our business (£££) or put the new baby quite quickly into nursery again which is also a mammoth cost (and the guilt trip...).
I think we can "afford" to wait a couple more years because we're 33 and 35, and see how it goes financially after this recession and its aftermath.

Time to pick C. up soon, meeting a friend and her 15mo son later on and really looking forward to getting out of the house!

ineed did the gp find any cause for the dizziness by the way?
snow have you finished the travelling now?
gauchita how's the driving going? Let me know if you are coming over to London.
skies has dh seen C. walk by now?
mrsmc Haven't heard from you in ages, how was you trip to scotland?
vene how's everything?

right, really is time to go pick C up now, take care juners!

ps: We'll have to start thinking of a new title for the next thread!

OP posts:
AllOverIt · 13/10/2010 16:20

Hi there.

Have name changed as I was worried about people finding out who I was. I'll PM a few of you so that I'm not confusing anyone!

I got the dizziness sorted. GP thought it was an inner ear virus and prescribed some medication that stopped it for a while so I didn't permanently feel like I was drunk on a ferry!

Went to the GP about my insomnia (for the first time in 12 years Grin)I'm on some sleeping tablets that are very mild and not addictive and I have to take them for 4 - 6 weeks Shock so that I can re-set my clock and sleep pattern. They help me wind down too as this seems to be my trigger. They seem to be working so far .

DD is hilarious and running everywhere. I think she's so excited that she can actually walk now that she wants to do it all the time. She speaking a lot too (DS was a very early talker) and says about 10 words. She actually used a two word utterance this morning 'no, juice' but don't think that she's officially in the two-word stage yet. Not sure where she gets her chattiness from Blush! I get so excited as an English teacher and keep forgetting to video her chats to use when I eventually return to teaching!

She's also fascinated by her belly button and will ponder and poke for ages!

DS is doing well at pre-school although he's a little monkey when he gets back. I think all that pent-up naughtiness comes out!

Right will try and catch up with you all now....

Gauchita · 13/10/2010 16:27

Marking my place. Will try and catch up this evening! Smile

AllOverIt · 13/10/2010 16:28

June - DD is also a climber and she LOVES the stairs. I have to be vigilant with the stair gates as she's fallen down them twice Sad. We're also waiting to see what happens as to whether we have another one.... lots of reasons not to as we couldn't really afford another one and all the financial implications... I nearly had a coronary in Clarks the other day when I had to buy both DC some shoes... couldn't imagine a third set on top. I do love the idea of having three kids though.... mmmm... will have to wait and see if I can convince DH....

bigcar - I can't believe there's a June 2011 thread! These two years have flown by.

strawberry - Blush Grin Envy at your rugby player moment.....

bigcar · 13/10/2010 16:51

june, that's so funny Grin I'm so crap at guessing someones age, I ended up way too young or too old so refuse now Confused E likes the stairs, he goes up really well, it's just the down he's not good at!

allover, glad you got the dizziness sorted Smile must be a relief. Is E still chatting and laughing on the phone? E hasn't dicovered his bellybutton yet, he's more interested in his other, um, bits Grin

gauchita

Hi all!

Strawberry, very Envy of your locker room experience Grin Hope L is feeling better and your nights are quiet now.

Bigcar, OMG, I would have died! TRUMPETS!?!? Hope you find a hiding place for them some good earplugs Wink How cute is E offering his forehead for kisses! Grin M is also fascinated by animals, any sort Grin We're told she chases the rabbits at school Hmm Grin

Alloverit, I know who you are! Wink It's funny, after the meet-up when I read posts I can "hear" Juners, with their own ways, etc.

whenskiesaregrey · 13/10/2010 21:36

Hello everyone!

Bonjour Gauchita Grin Thats about all the French I know I'm afraid; such a shame as I was quite good at it at school but hated the teacher so it put me off! I remember my school report saying something along the lines of "whenskiesaregrey is a very capable student, and this is reflected in her marks. However, she is very rude and totally unforthcoming in classwork. What a shame." Eurgh, he was a creepy arse! But, I did have a teeny bit of an attitude towards him too Wink Grin Oh how I would love to be back at school now Glad you all enjoyed Chester Zoo :) I don't know how it compares to other zoos as it is the only one I have been too, but I think it is the second largest in the country? We took C when he was about 9 months, but he didn't really have a clue. Grin C has those tantrums too. I had to intervene before he had a fight with another little girl at soft play this week, over a banana! I think it is just them learning all about boundries, and seeing what happens when they push them Grin

Yeah, I have been having some trouble with my ankles for a few months after I had an injury at the end of last season. Went to GP, referred to Physio, and then referred to Orthotics. According to him I am 'hyperflexible'! DH raised a eyebrow when I told him, bad DH Wink You can see if you too are hyperfleible by seeing if you can bend your hand back so that your thumb can touch your wrist???! Annnnyway, this all means by ankles arn't supported as my joints are too flexible, and my ankles lean in. I have to wear insoles now and have had some casts made of my feet etc. Also, have to wear some ankle braces to play football Confused. Well, the most important part I think is that it is genetic, so he told me to watch for C's ankles leaning when his foot is properly formed at around 5-6 years. Its good to know so we can keep an eye on it.

Oh no Bigcar, tandem trumpets! My Cousin brought a trombone home from Scouts for a few weeks, and then the appeal wore off!I was thinking about that June 2011 thread, isn't is a bit sad :( Decorating went tediously slow, as always Hmm still no border on the walls, so that is this weekend's project! Anymore news on DD's progress at school now we are a few more weeks in? Her 1:1 still going well?

June I dont think there is ever an 'ideal' time to have a baby, there is always something which makes it a good idea to wait. How did your day with your friend and 15 month DC go? C is like lightening up the stairs, but like Gauchita's M, not so good coming down them! But, he still isn't walking, strange isn't it!?

AllOverIt Well done E on her talking! How cute, she will end up being a little chatterbox like DS Wink I love little chatterboxes Grin. I remember E and her climbing skills at the meet-up, a proper little spiderwoman! C has learnt how to climb on the couch, but wants to get down head first, so I am now on edge if I take my eye off him! E should have given him some tips at the meet-up Wink You have been doing a lot of very nice cooking recently, from your updates on Facebook Envy Grin

StrawberrySam Hello! Good luck for the end of the month, you must feel relieved now that you have an actual plan in place? So are you at your parents' now? We had to move in with my mum while we were in between moving house, and it took some getting used to! Although, it was great when my mum offered to listen out for C, and DH and I could go the pub Grin Grin.

The Apprentice is on!! Woop, I love love love this programme Grin

Oh strawberry my straighteners are in a bad way, tis indeed bad times! I stood on them and they snapped clean in half :( DH was laughing at the state of my Facebook status, all full of spelling mistakes, but I think I was in panic! It truely is a disaster Wink!

snowwombat · 16/10/2010 08:34

hi girls,
going to try and catch up with you all properly. Have been lurking but not posting this week, feeling a bit flat. Was baby loss awareness week. Also, A dreadful in the nights- up for 4-5 hours. Bit miserable as my two closest friends here are moving to Oz at christmas time. They are the ones I see every week, can call anytime and say come over or pop to theirs. Going to miss that support when DC3 arrives. UURrrgh.
Enough whinging. Good things- went and saw Eat Pray Love (girls night out)- Julia was radiant, storyline a tad self indulgent but the cinematography gorgeous and soundtrack great- Eddie Vedder, aria from the Magic Flute, Neil Young.

Going on holidays next Saturday. Off to London tom for a christening and to meet Dh's cousins baby- yeah for newborn cuddles! She is a week old today, born at 40+14 EMCS after a failed induction. Poor girl!

bigcar I had to laugh at the trumpets- I came home with a saxophone and continued to play that for many years. Also a cello, which was slightly less annoying!Saying that, my parents loved both, I loved playing them and played at the Sydney Opera house at many concerts during my school years. Think it is so important that kids get the opportunity.
whenskies The aussie accent does vary a little bit between city and country- country is much slower and drawn out. Some subtle differences between Sydney/Melb/Brisbane but not like regional accents in the UK (which I love!I love guessing the accent and the northern ones are my favs.)
strawberry good on you going to the aqua class, I love them but none on offer near me. Love the locker room experience Envy
Saying that, I did used to do sports coverage and spent many a weekend with sweaty men in lockers rooms but sadly those days are over!
june I have no idea how much milk they are suppposed to have

bigcar · 18/10/2010 10:08

morning all Smile

gauchita, E's not too bad with the tantrums yet but he can throw one when he doesn't get his own way, he's good though, really good, he has tears and all Grin He likes to press the buttons on the ps3 and keeps resetting it, dh is not impressed!

whenskies, dd3 is hyperflexible, she also has low muscle tone which makes it worse. She wears peidro boots that have a good insole and strong ankle support, they make the world of difference to how she walks, hopefully it'll work well for you too. I would say though that if you do have any concern about C, don't leave it until he hits 5/6, get him checked sooner, the gp should refer to a paediatric physio for a check if you ever need it. Sadly the novelty isn't wearing off on the trumpet front yet, but if you catch me saying, wot, eh? a lot you'll know why! Did you get your decorating finished?

strawberry, did your dh take a banner for you Grin and did they win!

snow, I long for the day they learn a tune of some sort, will be much better than the 'noise' I have now, learning an instrument is a great opportunity, just glad for the earplugs you provided Grin You must have been very good, performing at the opera house, dead impressive. Sorry you had a rough week, have you thought about joining the ladies on the bereaved mummies thread? Are you still working, you can't have that long left now?

Dd3s meeting went ok, she's definitely well settled now, gets on well with her 1:1 which is a huge improvement on last year! But she's not really getting anything much from being there and all the professionals agreed she needs a change of placement [yay] so they've a couple more reports to write and it all has to go to panel to get permission to look elsewhere. The downside is it won't go to panel until 7th December as dd3 needs assessing again so we need to keep our fingers crossed it all goes smoothly or we won't get a place anywhere for next September. Oh the fun Hmm

oh well, best go make myself useful, waves to all Smile

whenskiesaregrey · 18/10/2010 10:55

Hi everyone!

snow hope you have a better week this week... the lack of sleep really mustn't help when you are already feeling low. How did the Christening go? Bet meeting DH Cousin's baby made you excited to see your LO Grin how many weeks are you now?

bigcar fortunatley, the surrounding muscles are relatively strong in my ankles, so I only really started having problems when I damaged the tendons and ligaments in two seperate injuries. Should get special insoles in 5-6 weeks, but have temporary ones at the moment. Feels strange, they are almost forcing an arch in my feet that isnt there! So glad that DD3 walks better with her supports, it must be a struggle for her joints if she is hypotonic also. Dr said to watch for C's ankles turning inwards, but it shouldn't happen until his arch has formed at around 5-6- but I will definetly keep an eye on it when he is walking properly. At least this diagnosis explains why I can't shift strains and my back ache. Do you think it might be why C isn't walking yet? Good luck for 7th Dec x

Great day yesterday, Everton beat Liverpool 2-0 (I hope you all watched Match Of The Day????!). Its great to see Liverpool doing so badly, after years of smugness from then Grin Grin Have some friends coming to see the not so new house on Sat, so we have a lot of sorting out to do! DH is going to try and get Wednesday off, as we still have some of C's room to sort, and the conservatory is a bit of a dumping ground at the moment. I am just so tired at the moment, I can't get the energy to do anything. I don't know whats the matter with me, tempted to say I feel a bit anaemic, but I'll be damned if I have a blood test to find out! I'll just have to up the spinach and brocolli intake and chill out on the tea for a bit.

Hope you are all well x

bigcar · 18/10/2010 12:32

skies, C sounds like he's doing fine, certainly well within the 'average' Smile he's been fine with other things like rolling, sitting and crawling which would have been affected too. Just didn't want you leaving C until he was 5/6 if you thought there was an issue Smile Dd3s ankles have always rolled in, looks most uncomfortable! Dh was not a happy bunny yesterday so I won't tell him you said that Grin although I was rather mean and showed him the thread from an everton supporter [evil] So no, we didn't watch motd, dh had his new medal of honour game on instead Wink

have failed miserably at making myself useful, am now drinking tea [sigh]
